Hogwarts Express
Okay, the weirdest thing just happened to me. Remus Lupin just asked me out. I swear! He came up to me when we were standing outside the train, waiting to get on, and he started up a conversation about our last final (Astronomy) and how hard it was and everything (it was hard, but it was also a week and a half ago now) and then out of the blue, he interrupts himself in the middle of a sentence and goes, "Um, hey, Rose? Can I ask you a question?"
And so I'm all like, "Sure, what is it? Is it about that last question on the Astronomy final, because I didn't know the answer to that one either! I swear, I studied every word in that text book, and I don't remember anything about a Helix constellation, or whatever it was called."
And then he says, "No, it's not about the exam. I was just wondering if, um, you wanted to… go out with me." And I just stared at him. I think my mouth might have been open slightly too. I couldn't believe it. He was bright red and I felt kind of bad for him, so after a few awkward seconds of silence, I closed my mouth and tried to refuse him as nicely as I could.
I said, "Look Remus, I like you, I really do, I think you're a great guy. But I just don't think you're the guy for me. I think we should just be friends." He had totally shocked me, honestly, so it was a miracle I was able to say anything! He just kind of nodded sadly and walked off. It was so weird. I mean, I had no idea he even liked me! It's just… what? I don't know what to say. I mean, Remus really is great but, well, I wouldn't have ever thought about dating him. It's just really strange, and it was so out of the blue. Lily thought it was super weird too. Sev's off with his Slytherin friends, so I couldn't ask him what he thought about it.
I feel so jealous of him and Lily sometimes. They get to hang out all through the summer if they want to, because they live so close to each other. It's not fair. I'm nowhere near any of my friends from Hogwarts except Tamara, but she doesn't even like me very much. Anyway, we don't have a lot more time till we won't see each other for nearly three months, so I'd better go.
