I don't own YJ

Sunday, June 17, 2012, 02:59, Batcave

Robin was sitting cross-legged on the chair in the Batcave, typing in the journal that Batman had started on there when he first began being Batman. He was adding a new entry, typing with speed he had picked up as a hacker.

June 17, 2012

It's 2:59, and it's still me. Still Robin. The Batcave is still lonely, the Manor even more so. I just got back from patrol, and stopping a few rapes, some bank robberies, and even a couple murders. I've been having this feeling that something big is looming on the horizon, something that can make or break us as a Team, even more so than Failsafe, as horrid as that was.

I've been thinking, and I'm going to talk to Kaldur tomorrow. There's a pair of heroes over in Dakota City other than Static- that city's huge now- and I want to see if they'll join us. Their names are Icon and Rocket. Icon is an alien of unspecified origins, and Rocket is his protégé- she wears a belt that allows her to manipulate kinetic energy.

There's been this street kid hanging around that I've noticed on more than one occasion. His name is Jason. I… I feel kind of bad for him.

Well, I'll be back here later- probably tonight.

Robin leaned back in the chair, before standing up and walking over to his bike. Alfred had a day off, and was visiting a friend in the better part of Gotham. Slinging a leg over the bike and putting his helmet on, he took off, zooming over hills and onto I-195, in his civvies.

Somehow ending up on I-44, he turned onto the exit that would bring him to Keystone City… and Wally. Now he knew why he decided to go on an impromptu roadtrip, he took the curve as fast as was legal, tearing down streets until he got to the street Wally lived on. Pulling his bike up alongside the sidewalk, he turned it off and hopped off, pulling off his helmet and placing it on the seat. At least in Keystone, you didn't have to worry about a random thief stealing it.

Slipping into the bushes behind Wally's house, he climbed up to and opened his window as quietly as possible so as to not wake everyone up. Slipping into the ginger speedster's room, he closed the window and sat down on the beanbag chair. Curling up into a ball, he fell asleep, comforted by the thought that Wally was just across the room from him.

.:{K}:.

"Holy shit!" Dick (he wasn't wearing sunglasses or a mask) woke up to Wally's shout. Blearily blinking open tired blue eyes, he looked over at the freaking ginger speedster. "When did you get here?"

"Earlier this morning," the ebony muttered in reply as Wally's parents burst into his room, wondering what was going on.

"Wally? What's going on?" Mary West asked, looking confused.

"Nothing, just my ninja best friend popping into my room, unannounced, in the middle of the night!" Wally shouted, glaring.

"It was four in the morning," Dick grumbled. "Besides, I brought cookies."

"Ooh!" Wally zipped over. "Where?"

The ebony pulled a small bag of cookies from the pocket in his jacket, tossing them to Wally. "Savor…" They were already gone. "Nevermind."

The two West parents just rolled their eyes, turning away to go back to what they were doing, used to Dick or Roy popping up unannounced in the night.

"So whaddya want ta do?" Wally asked. "Want to have Robin and Kid Flash team up?" The ginger grinned. "Come on, you know it would be fun."

Dick smiled. "Maybe later, but… It's Kara's birthday today."

Wally gasped. "That's right! I wonder if the Team has anything planned?"

"You can count on it. After all, she's not really bashful with anything about herself," the ebony replied with a grin, ignoring the feeling of an impending explosion of danger looming on the horizon. Wally looked at his friend with his head tilted, looking into his clear blue eyes. There was a little note of hesitation there, a microscopic amount of trepidation.

"Are you okay?" The speedster asked, blinking twice, letting his hair fall in his face. Dick shifted a little, eyes flitting, looking around at the room.

"No, not entirely. I… I have this feeling, like some huge catastrophic event is going to go down that will affect not only how we work as a Team, but how the world sees us," he replied, deciding to go with the honest reply. "But don't worry! I'm sure it's just my Bat-paranoia kicking in, blowing a small thing out of proportion. Let's go to the Cave, see the Team, wish Kara a happy birthday!"

"No, I… I'm pretty sure it's not just your Bat-paranoia… I've been having that feeling, too. I feel like shit's gonna go down, and soon. But let's go to the Cave. By the way, how is it you always have your laptop?" Wally smirked at his friend, ruffing the fourteen-year-old's hair, and the bird just shoved his hand away with an embarrassed blush.

"I just, I take it with me because it's useful?" He replied, then smirked. "By the way, we're going to the Cave in costume. I've been looking into something more we can do, and it looks like Malamingin is moving into something bigger. So we go throw a monkey wrench in their machinery."

"Sweet!" Wally replied, zipping off to grab his suit and changing into it as Dick plastered on his mask before changing into his uniform. Standard Team and League protocol- always keep an extra of your teammates' costumes somewhere secure in your base. The two brightly-clad vigilantes stood next to each other, wearing almost identical grins as they jumped out the window and zipped off, towards the nearest zeta tube. They were stopped in their tracks halfway there, and with wide eyes, they almost stood and watched, until Kid Flash snapped out of it and called into the Cave.

"Kid Flash to Aqualad, shit's going down in Central… Giant Robot kind of shit," he said with as much eloquence as he could muster. "Scratch that, Giant Robot with LexCorp Logo on it shit."

"Are you in need of assistance?"

"No shit sherlock!" Wally gasped as Robin snapped out of it to, grabbing a birdarang and an electricity shorter and grappling towards the giant robot.

"Hold on. I am receiving a call from Batgirl." Aqualad turned away from the terminal that Wally's call was on, and the speedster shook his head before sprinting after Robin.

.:{K}:.

Robin had gotten thoroughly separated from Kid Flash in the chaos, and was currently fighting through wave after wave of mini-bots to get to the huge robot that was acting as the hub of the attack. Lex had been streaming a video to smartphones, televisions and everything else with an LCD screen that told of how the United Kingdoms and American governments would allow him complete control over both the UK and the US. Tyrannical dictatorship kind of control. Robin was fighting to prevent that, blowing up robots and trying his hardest to keep bystanders out of danger. He was doing okay, but he had more pressing matters at hand like how to get rid of the ninja-bot attempting to knock him off of a skyscraper.

With keeping his attention on the bot attempting to do him in, he didn't notice the bot sent to bring him in.

.:{K}:.

Kid Flash had finally run out of energy, and morale. He had retreated to a warehouse on the edge of town, and called Aqualad on his comm. link.

"Kid Flash to Aqualad, I assume Central isn't the only city under attack from giant LexBots?" The speedster asked, sounding tired.

"You are correct in your assumptions. Gotham City, Washington DC, Starling City, Blüdhaven, Fawcett City, Metropolis, Jump City, Dakota City, and London are under attack as well, to name a few."

"Wonderful. Any ideas on how to take down the giant robots?"

"None."

"Even more amazing. Kid Flash out." The speedster cut the connection, thinking for a moment before calling Batgirl. "Kid Flash to Batgirl. Is Robin with you?"

"I thought he was with you."

"He's not. I thought maybe he zeta'd to Gotham. I'll check with Red, maybe he went to Starling."

"Okay. Batgirl out." Kid Flash cut the connection before calling Red Arrow.

"Kid Flash to Red Arrow. Is Robin with you?"

"No… Why would he be with me?"

"Okay, if he isn't here in Central, he's not in Gotham, and he's not in Starling, where could he be?" Wally was panicking a little bit, eyes gone wide.

"Wait… You lost Robin. Oh, man, this is bad… Uhm… Maybe he went to Metropolis?"

"Doubt it, the Supers are there," Wally replied, beginning to hyperventilate.

"Calm it, Flash. Can't have you dying on us. Keep looking in Central for him, and unless absolutely necessary, do not tell anyone that we lost Robin. Got it?"

"Got it." The ginger began to slow down his breathing, trying to calm himself. "Kid Flash out." He cut the line, looking around the city with narrowed eyes before speeding off.

.:{K}:.

Robin groaned, and his hands flew to his head before he noticed that his cape, belt, boots, and gloves were gone. He was locked in a white room, and couldn't see any way out, even after a thorough scan of the place. Blinking twice, trying to adjust to the bright light. He shook his head twice, attempting to rid himself of a lingering fuzziness, but that brought on a pounding headache. With a groan, he laid back down, keeping his eyes open. His ribs hurt, too, and he was almost certain at least three of them were broken. His right arm ached, and bringing it around, his wrist was swollen. He figured he probably had a sprain.

A door slammed open, and he flinched away from the loud noise that seemed to echo in his head. Lex Luthor, Ra's al Ghul, and Vandal Savage walked in. Robin flinched away from them, remembering the last time he had seen them.

"Relax, hero," Ra's dictated. "We will not hurt you- much."

That was really reassuring, especially when Lex stepped forward with a hypodermic needle in his hand. Robin scooted as far away from the bald megalomaniac as he could, instincts taking over.

"Relax," Lex murmured softly. "It'll make this a lot easier."

The needle sunk in his arm, depositing its contents and Robin began writhing, nerves on fire and his greatest fears playing over and over in front of his eyes. Lex's words wove their way into his hallucinations.

"You'll be our own assassin soon."

Thanksgiving extras! I wrote twenty drabbles to songs on YJ pairings, and for those of you who are fans of Hey, Brother, there's an extra scene from there in here!

By the way I'll probably not update until at least Sunday. Consider yourselves very lucky if I update before that.

Angel with a Shotgun

He's everything I need.

Everything.

Everything he does, he's so damn graceful. Everything he says just fits.

...The way his lips taste on mine.

I can taste them now- chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate. He bites my bottom lip and places his hands against my chest, before he's gone. Gone… Leaving me with only my thoughts.

Explosions go off in the distance, and I'm beginning to float away. Red pulses from injuries on me, in me, that are me.

The last thing I hear is him calling my name, his hurried footsteps coming towards me as he calls my name…

"Wally!"

This is War

"I never wanted this!" I shout, punching a wall. "Why couldn't I have had a normal family? A normal life? That's what we had!"

"Artemis-" His voice is soft, alluring. I ignore it.

"Why did he have to die?" I'm sobbing now. "I didn't want my boyfriend to become a martyr!"

"Artemis!" His voice is stronger, snappier. "Cut it out! You're stronger than this, better than this!"

"I don't want to be!" I'm sobbing harder, and then his lips are on mine. I'm startled, and then he pulls away.

"I always looked up to you," he murmurs over his shoulder as he walks away. "Maybe this time it'll be the other way around."

Iridescent

He's laying there, so still. His lips are pale, so pale.

Barely any breath stirs them.

I can hear my own voice, breaking down, telling him it'll be alright… And when his eyes open, the mask off, removed, I see blue.

Blue eyes, so similar to my own.

And in that moment, I realize- I don't have Superman's eyes.

I have his.

Our eyes are the same hue.

I just want to hold him and never let go, but that's impossible. Instead I pick him up, and begin jumping away, carefully landing so that I don't injure him further. Where is the Team, where is the League, when we need them most?

For now, it's just us- me, him, and the scarlet leaking from the corner of his oh-so-pale lips.

Castle of Glass

As I step out of the cell, i shudder. It's been so, so long since I've seen sunlight…

But I managed to make it ten years.

I see my ride- and a ginger beauty waiting with him. There's a ring on his finger, but I can't see her hand.

"Are you two-?" I ask, pointing at him and her.

She snorts, eyes closing in that cute way they do. "As if," she says, and I immediately feel relieved.

"I've saved her just for you," he smirks, eyes narrowed behind shades.

Wait- what?

"You were never exactly that secretive," she retorts, before grabbing the collar of my standard-issue shirt and pressing cherry-red lips to mine.

I hope her dad won't mind her marrying a criminal.

You're Gonna Go Far Kid

I stare into his eyes, my own eyes narrowed. His black suit glows with red power, and I mentally prepare myself.

"Why?" I ask, amber eyes gleaming, I suppose.

"You know why," comes his simple answer.

I suppose I do, as his glowing sword enters my stomach. After all, I lost the love of my life too- just for different reasons.

Me against the world

I hold the weapon in one hand, the other holds a chain. The weapon's other half- why don't I have one, just like it, just like everything else in my life?- rests belted to my utility belt. With a snarl, I crumple up the picture and throw it as hard as I can into the harbor. I turn, pulling out the weapon's other half, and with a twisted form of my demented cackle, I fly off into the night, determined to break her for everything she did to me.

After all, that little bitch never deserved anything.

Rise

He lays on the ground at my feet, the gun held tight in both of my hands.

I killed him.

Sounds of gunfire and explosions go off.

I killed him.

"Come on!" My ginger yells.

I killed him.

I shove the Glock back into its holster.

I killed him.

For some reason, I'm okay with it.

I killed him.

"Let's go," I say.

I killed him.

Let's find the rest of our family, I think.

I killed him.

War will twist a soul.

I killed him.

Revolution will change someone.

I killed him.

To keep what I love.

What Faith Can Do

"You'll be fine," I murmur, stroking his hair. "It's all over- she's never gonna come back, she's never gonna get you again."

He shifts, blue eyes blinking up at me.

Broken blue eyes. Asking, are you sure?

"I'm sure," I reply.

Weeks pass, and I'm helping him back up from the bed. Wally, Artemis, and Kaldur are there, everyone pitching in. We've grown stronger.

We're never gonna let her touch our baby ever again.

That's a promise all of us are going to keep. Wolf joins us, and we know he will fight her too. Sphere is here, and there's another being willing to lay down their life for him.

Our Conner, our Superboy, our baby.

We Won't Be Shaken

It hit us hard.

We never realized until it was too late the betrayal that would tear us to our core.

Who would have thought?

We're stronger now, but we should have realized!

I hold Wally and Roy's hands, their arms intertwined with mine to keep me up, keep my mangled legs from dropping me to the cold hard floor.

M'gann is held tight to Conner, Zatanna and Raquel sit together. Artemis is sharpening her arrows.

And Kaldur is a traitor.

SING

I drive, eyes on the road.

This party- it's the strangest party ever. Two trained assassins, a certified ninja, and a redheaded archer.

This car holds some of the weirdest pairs, too. Who would've thought I would've come to like- no, love- the blonde archer that I was always so suspicious of?

Not to mention the two most ninja people in this car are currently sucking face in the back seat before our most certainly suicide mission to release all the captured heroes.

Traitors, my ass! The world will see- the human heroes are a force to be trifled with.

I gun the engine, while everyone readies their weapons of choice.

There's a price to be paid for messing with our world, our freedom.

And you are going to pay it.

Hey Brother

My eyes pass over the preteen sitting on the table. His arms are crossed, blue eyes- so like his- angry.

"Damian, you do see what you did wrong, right?" I ask, and he growls.

"I did not do anything wrong," he hisses, and I sigh.

"You did everything spectacularly well until the point where you decided you wanted to gun after Two Face! That is something you never do!" My voice escalates into a yell, but I break off, seeing- God forbid- tears welling up in Damian's eyes. On an impulse, I grab him, pulling him tight into my arms.

"I'm glad you're okay," I whisper, and he seems to accept the hug- not quite returning it, but it's a start.

Worn

I gasp, holding my side as I look up into his eyes. His blue eyes hold a tenderness there, as he re-sets the bones I had broken. He tenderly removes my hand, before pressing harder to re-rebreak it and shove it into the right spot before it healed wrong again.

"Stop wriggling!" He snickers, holding my bare chest down with an elbow while he rebreaks and sets the old injury in my humerous.

"It hurts!" I whine, despite myself.

"I know it does," he replies softly before continuing on.

Maybe we'll heal each other, maybe we won't.

But it doesn't matter, so long as I have him and he has me.

I've seen him smile more times this hour than I ever have.

I'm glad I kissed him, spoilers or no. That was the most crash action I have ever taken.

Welcome to the Black Parade

I can remember his smile.

But even more clearly, I can remember the look on his face as we fell and the sound of his mother calling his name.

It's warm here, but I would rather be still alive, back with him, looking out for him.

I vigilantly scan the influx of new dead spirits for anyone who knows what's happening to him. I have no luck.

Until one day, when a ginger guy in a yellow-and-red outfit speeds in. He picks me out of the crowd almost instantly, zooming over and talking extremely fast before slowing down.

"Sorry," he gives a nervous chuckle. "You look like my friend."

"I do?" I ask, frowning.

"Yeah- like, a lot. We weren't doing that well- differing lifestyle choices and everything and- ohmigosh, are you John Grayson, as in Dick's cousin?"

"You know him?" I ask, curious.

"Yep! He's still alive, to the best of my knowledge. I hope he doesn't get killed by any of the big bads anytime soon! I'm Wally, by the way, also known as Kid Flash."

"As in, you're related to the Flash?"

"By marriage, yep!"

Burn it Down

Groaning, I lifted my head, glaring at the man standing in front of me. A cruel grin lit up his face, and I snarled, pulling myself to my feet and staggering forward.

"There's no one here to save you this time, little beast." He spits the last word, and with another snarl, I attempt to shift… and nothing.

Where are my powers?!

"Curious, huh," the man mutters. "Feel your neck."

I do, and…

Great. An inhibitor collar.

I'm liking this life more and more every day.

It's My Life

I turn up the music in the room so that no one can hear what we're saying.

"So, you're telling us, that the Justice League is under mind control?" Robin asks, raising an eyebrow as I nod. Wondergirl, Impulse, and Beast Boy are crouched nearby, eyes glancing nervously around.

"Just great," Cassie groaned. "We're all doomed! And where's the rest of the Team, huh?"

"They are… In the custody of the enemy," I reply, trying to keep the panic out of my voice.

"Oh great! Nightwing's afraid! We're all gonna die!"

Shoot. I forgot Beast Boy could smell fear.

"No we're not," I growl. "Fear is natural. Anyone without fear is the grandest idiot out of all idiots. We will make it through this, and we will emerge the victors!"

Remember the Name

Wondergirl slammed Wonder Woman into the floor so hard, I could hear bones crack. So crash! I grin as I watch Nightwing and Robin facing down Batman and Superman together, then I turn my attention to Flash, who was trying to get the upper hand on my and Beast Boy tackled Martian Manhunter! I never read about anything like this in the history books!

I let Flash get a hit in on me while I was fanboying, which pretty much moded me. For an old guy, he hit pretty hard! I stood back up, but images swam before my eyes as I saw Nightwing standing protectively above Robin, who was unconscious.

Ugh.. If only we had M'gann, or wait…

Why is Martian Manhunter under the mind control? I smirked, before zooming at the green alien.

I had a one up on him-

I knew it was a simulation.

To The Sky

With a grin, I looked at my mom as she waited on the other side of the tightrope for me. There was a net ready to catch me if I fell, but I wouldn't. I was too good!

Here is Dick the hawk, Dick the eagle, Dick the falcon!

It is an even better feeling performing my first quadruple flip. Even with a net, it's an amazing feeling! Here I am, Dick the owl, Dick the osprey, Dick the robin!

Executing my first perfect kick against Joker's henchmen- it was just as good as the first time I flipped!

Here I am, I truly am Dick the Robin.

Hello

I kneel at the grave. I'm joined by my boyfriend, who holds a black rose. I hold a red rose.

As the years have passed, I realized that I could wait and wait, and he wouldn't come back.

I could've pretended…

Then I was the illusion of him fade away. I still kneel at his grave, my red rose still in hand.

He'll be back, I know it. He wouldn't leave me like this!

He knows how much I hate being left alone. I summon the illusion back up, wrapping my arms around him.

They tried to fix me, but I'm not broken.

I'm whole, because now he'll never die.

Take Back the City

I grin, standing before the dark smear of skyscrapers known as Gotham.

I will finally be able to set him free.

I let out a whoop of pure joy. Fifteen is not to old to take joy from life!

I had ditched all the tracers and comm links- they would never find me.

I'm Nightwing, Aerial Avenger, Savior of Gotham, and I will save my father.

Every Storm

She's sitting on the ground, sobbing into her hands, and I have to comfort her somehow.

She just found out that he was cheating on her, a worse thing than either of us have done to her.

I lay a hand on her shoulder, offering her a smile as she looks into my eyes.

"No matter what you think of us, we're still here for you," I murmur, and she closes her eyes before leaning forward and places her lips on mine. He joins us, running his hand through her hair. We're mutual comfort for each other, the three most human members of the Team.

We cuddle that night, and I can't help but hope that it'll be like she never caught us without her.

I hope she'll forgive us.

If you guys can guess the correct characters and pairings of each drabble in a review, the first person to correctly guess will get a oneshot of their choice. :) See you all later and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
