Chapter 26- Ready or Not, Here He Comes

"Come on Lil man that the best you got?" Android 28 taunted as she hovered above the young Saiyan. Goten looked up with sweat dripping down his tired and worn out face. Goten could feel it, he can feel the power flowing through his veins. In a few days it would be a year and they would have to return and battled Fortissimo for the fate of the world. Goten wanted to be ready, he knew that he had to be, but he just didn't feel like was there yet...he was starting to think that he would never be.

"28 give the boy a break!" 29 walked up with a tired smile on his face. "In fact you can give me a break too while you're at it." He muttered to himself, hoping that his hot tempered sister would not hear him.

28 glanced over at 29 then back at Goten before sighing and slowly hovering down towards the ground, her snake like braids flowing in the wind. "Fine I guess ya'll deserve a lil break." She walked over towards Goten with a kind smile. "Not bad lil man." She ruffled his now long hair. "Starting to give 28 a run for her money." Goten felt a grin grow on his face. For the past year 28 has becoming something of an older sister to him. Sure she was scary and easily bothered she also had this kind and caring side. Sure she was no 26 but she still had those moments. "Now go wash yo self!" She pointed towards the bath. "Stinking up the place…" Goten blushed and quickly followed her orders. The two androids watched the young boy run before facing each other.

"Sister...it's almost time…" 28 nodded, her expression on her face was filled conflicting emotions.

"Can't help feeling a lil nervous for the boy tho." 28 voiced out. "I mean he's still just a kid."

"Yes but as you see he has progressed from when we first came here." 29 understood 28's concerns and trust him he feels the same. But she has to remember that they were put out here for a reason and that reason was to train Goten into becoming the fighter that he needed to be in order to defeat Fortissimo. They had done their job and now they have to have faith that he was fully ready to take on this threat.

"But is that enough?" She asked softly. She wanted to believe that Goten was ready and deep in her heart she knew he was but...she couldn't help but wonder if... Goten has become something of a little brother to the female android and she would blame herself if something were to happen to him. Usually she was confident she could and will accomplish anything that she put her mind to and this should be no different yet…something deep in her keeps saying that she could have taught him more or showed him more. Her thoughts however were interrupted by the sound of 29's deep voice releasing a loud chuckle.

"Is the Great 28 afraid that she may not have been the best teacher?" He couldn't help but find this slightly amusing.

28 huffed and crossed her arms. "You know damn well I'm the best!" She announced proudly. "Ain't nothin gonna stop that boy now!" 29 shook his head, a smile still placed on his face.

"It's never like you to doubt yourself."

28 was silent for a moment before gently placing her hand on 29's large shoulder. 29 knew now that though she appears tough and brave...deep down she was just as scared as he was. Not for their safety though...But the safety of Goten...And though he is confident that Goten is fully ready to take on this threat…he can't help but be a little concerned.

New Androids

It was silent...nothing but the soft humming of Dende's healing powers was heard throughout the small infirmary. How long has it been? One hour...two hours...a day...a week...a year? No one could keep up with the time; no one would even dare to. For to keep up with the time would only bring them back to the reality that they are now forced to face…and that was far too scary for any of them at the moment. The only ones that decided to stay were Bulma, Vegeta, Gohan, Videl and Chi-Chi. Bulma and Vegeta were busy arguing with what needs to be done now while Videl was trying to help Gohan deal with seeing his father remain frozen in the same position. While Chi-Chi….

…Chi-Chi remained silent, lost in her own thoughts. From the many times where she has been in this situation, the many times she has lost him, one would think that this would have been easier but...it isn't...it never is.

"How is he?" Gohan spoke with caution. It took moments before he finally received an answer.

"He's...stable." everyone let out a breath that they had no idea they were holding. "The blow was definitely fatal but I was able to heal him enough so that he wasn't completely close to death."

"When will he be awake?" Videl asked.

"That...I'm not sure of..." He looked down at Goku with a worried expression. "I could say in a few hours or I can say a few days." He stood up. "I just don't know..."

"Well as long as he isn't dead." Bulma sighed. "But now we gotta think about what we're going to do about Fortissimo."

"What can we do?" Gohan asked. "Right now he's become way too strong for any of us to handle."

"Well what do you expect us to do? Stand here and do nothing?!" Vegeta growled. "Why are we still-."

"Don't start this up again Vegeta!" Bulma placed her hand on his shoulder. "Haven't we dealt with enough of your voice?"

"Well what are we-."

"We stick to the Android's original plan..." Everyone turned to see Chi-Chi standing up, her face void of emotions.

"What?" Vegeta let out in a confused tone.

"If Goku was conscious I know that's what he wanted."

"But right now-."

"Look, right now that's our only option." She sighed. "I'm not going to continue to sit here and constantly hear your voice going on about what we need to do and how we're wasting our time. If you want to go off and fight Fortissimo then go right ahead, I won't stop you. But don't be surprised if you wake up in the afterlife." She turned on her heel to face Goku. "Now if that is all I would like to be left alone with my husband."

"Mom..." But he received no response.

Vegeta growled and turned away. "Tired of constantly being interrupted anyway..." He stormed out with Bulma quickly following after. Gohan glanced at his mother one more time before slowly looking down as he walked out of the room. It wasn't long before Chi-Chi was alone with her unconscious husband, just as she had requested.

It was moments of silence beg she found the strength to speak once more.

"Goku..." She whispered. "I know that...I know that you can hear me and I know you heard everything..." Her hand slowly took hold of his motionless palm. "I know you have faith in Goten and I do too but...Do you really think that he can do it? Do you..." She hated seeing her Goku and her sons fighting these monsters. If she had her way then they would be a normal family facing normal troubles. But unfortunately she wasn't lucky enough for that wish to come true. And now even though she hated it, she has to once again allow her son to fight off a threat towards this world. She hated it but she was willing to allow this if it meant the world's safety. "I must sound like an idiot for even asking you that question." She left out a soft giggle before her once again fell. "You picked a really bad time Goku..." The soft sound of his breathing was her only response. She couldn't help but stare at his body, at how relaxed it looked compared to the last couple of days. His face was void of any stress; no wrinkles, no tired or a worried expression could be seen as he slowly breathed in and out. His muscles laid motionless, void of any tense movement. She couldn't help but smile at this scene. "Have a good nap Goku..." She gently placed a soft kiss on his cheek. "...You deserve it..."

"Hows 18 and 17?" Krillin turned from speaking with Piccolo to see Gohan walk in towards him. Gohan could only imagine what he might be going through.

"Eh not so good..." Krillin scratched the back of his head. "17 and I were trying to get her to come out but she just won't budge." After Goku was placed into the infirmary, 18 was quick to rush away from the scene and hide out within her room. No one, not even Krillin, could get her out. Krillin has been trying for hours to get her to come out but to no avail.

"She blames herself." 17 walked out of the room with a tired and frustrated aura surrounding him. "For some reason she sees this as her fault."

"I don't see why." Piccolo voiced out. "This was going to happen eventually so she really has nothing to feel guilty about."

"I know but..." Krillin shuffled his feet nervously. "Try telling that to her..." If there was one thing about his wife that he knew was that she could be quite hard headed and though he loves her with every flaw that she possessed, it was still draining.

"We don't have time to worry about her right now; I think you guys forgot that Goten is supposed to come out of the chamber soon." Gohan's eyes widened at the realization. Goten wanted was to return...Gohan glanced over at Piccolo only to see his figure moving further and further away from the group. The Namekian however stopped to turn his attention to the half Saiyan. "Come on, I assume you would want to be the first person to greet your brother back." Gohan wasted no time and ran up to the taller male.

"You guys go on ahead I'm gonna stay here for a while." Krillin chuckled. Gohan knew however that deep inside Krillin was hurting. Not only was his best friend trapped in a comatose state but now he has to try and help his devastated wife as well as to try and keep on a brave face for his daughter. Gohan wanted to stay and help his father's closest friend but right now his priority was to see that his brother was okay.

It was then though that Gohan started to feel two new feelings running through his heart. The first one was joy in seeing how much his brother had grown. He truly wanted to test out Goten's new found skills and to truly see the strength that he now possessed. But another feeling that clawed at his heart was the fear for his brother's safety. He has seen what this monster has done and frankly he was scared out of his mind that his brother wasn't ready for what he was about to face. 'Goten...'

Trunks has never been one to worry about anything before, his father raised him to never worry over small things, but his heart continue to beat rapidly at the thought of his best friend returning.

"Big Brother what is taking Goten so long?" His sister pours impatiently.

"You have to be patient Bulla." Trunks muttered for what he felt like has been the 10th time.

"Your brother is right Bulla." Bulma giggled. "You have to be patient." She echoed her son's words. "I wonder how much Goten has changed since we last saw him."

"Probably still the same goofball he always was." Trunks chuckled.

Bulma shook her head. "I'm not so sure Trunks." she faced the doors. "A lot can happen in a year.

Bulla looked up with a confused expression. "But Mommy he's been in there all day not a year."

"Time is different in there than out here. One day out here is actually one year in there."

"Wow!" Bulla looked up in awe. "That means Goten's been gone for a year!" Trunks never really thought about it before but...it's true. Goten has really been gone for a whole year...Trunks started to wonder...Has Goten really changed? Was the cheerful and happy go lucky friend of his been formed into someone else? Goten has been off doing nothing but Training and growing so...has Trunks fallen behind now? Trunks was always considered the strongest out of the two but what if that is no long the case?

Trunks shook his head. He shouldn't be worrying about something as trivial as who is the strongest. His best friend is coming back and that is enough to place a smile on his face. He couldn't wait to see what cool moves Goten learned.

"Come on Goten hurry up!" Marron cheered. Soon Bulla joined her in cheering for the older young warrior.

Trunks chuckled and looked forward, his heart now filling with anticipation for his friend to arrive. 'Let's hurry up Goten!'

New Androids

"Ya'll ready?" 28 dusted off her sleeves and grinned at the two males behind her.

"Yep!" Both grinned. This had to have been the most intense year that Goten has ever faced. Neither 28 nor 29 had gone easy on him and for that he was grateful. He has learned so much from both of the androids and has become pretty attached to them. They were his family. But now he had to face what he was trained for. This was the time to put back any doubt or fears and to be the warrior that they had homed him to be. The images of the lives that had been taken from this world because of this monster flashed through his mind. '26...' Goten shook his head as he tried to control the feeling of revenge deep inside him.

"Alright ya'll let's get movin!"28 faced the opening doors before walk in out with 29 quickly following after. Goten took a deep breath be for stepping forward. He was no linger the child he was before. He was stronger, braver, and he was now ready to take on Fortissimo without fear.

"Ugh!" Right after he got off the floor...
