Chapter 4

Hilda stormed her way all the to the misery mire, grumbling about how Yuga was stupid and that she'd show him. Her anger was so tense that even monsters avoided her. Once she reached the misery mire, she yelled "LINK!" hoping he'd hear, nothing happened.

"LINK!" she yelled again. Once again no response. "Great," Hilda mumbled. "I'm going to have to get over there myself!" then she got an idea. She channeled her energy the best she could. She had to use her telepathy to contact Link to get her, there's no way she could get to the palace with this water, well that and the gap between worlds that she can't travel through.

"Hilda?" a voice said. "What are you doing here?"

Hilda looked to the voice, it was Link. He was standing near a portal to Hyrule, he must have been collecting rupees or something because otherwise he'd already be in the palace. "Um.."Hilda wanted to just blurt out her feelings there, but she knew better because she also knew that Yuga was watching, she had to get into the desert palace, since it was in Hyrule she'd be out of sight from Yuga. "I just wanted to help you with the next palace silly," then she giggled. Which she immediately regretted. What am I doing? She thought, I probably just scared him off.

Link looked at her for a moment. She really wants to? He thought. He finally said. "Okay why not?"

Hilda's chest filled with joy. "Really!?" she said a little too excitedly, she cleared her throat, "Really?" she asked more calm.

"Yeah," Link shrugged. "No one really offers to help so I don't see why not."

"Okay, then." Hilda said. "Let's go." She started walking though the water towards Link, he looked….kind of pained in a way, like he wanted to help but knew he couldn't, or shouldn't. As soon as she reached him she asked, "You ready to go?"

"Yeah, on problem though." He said.

"What's that?" Hilda asked.

"I'm not sure how to get you over to Hyrule, as far as I know the bracelet only makes me a painting, not sure if it will make others a painting."

"Hm, that's a conundrum," Link looked at Hilda with a puzzled expression, "Basically, a problem." She explained.

"Ah okay," he paced back and forth for a moment. "I think I've got something,"

"What's that?" Hilda asked.

"Well, as you know the bracelet allows me to be a painting,"

"Yeah?"

"Well what if…what if we…"

"What is it?"

Link hesitated for a moment, "What if we," he gulped. "Held hands?"

"What?"

He thought that Hilda thought that he was weird, so he started to quickly explain himself, "I mean I merge in like this" he demonstrated how he merged with the wall, by putting the hand with the bracelet in first then walking the rest of the way into the wall, and coming out by reaching out with the same hand. "Make sense now?" he asked.

Hilda thought for a moment, "So if we hold hands, like I hold your hand that has the bracelet, and we both go in at the same time?"

"Yeah, exactly like that, should- should we try it?"

Hilda gulped, she never held a guy's hand before, let alone liked one, she liked Ravio, but in more of a brother-sister sort of way, but Link. He… he was different. "Y-yeah, I guess" Link reached over and laced his fingers with Hilda's. Inside her head Hilda squealed. He's holding my hand, he's holding my hand! She collected her inner thoughts, relax Hilda she chided herself. Just because a guy holds your hand doesn't mean anything. She finally came back to reality realizing that Link was snapping his finger in front of her.

"Sorry, what?" she asked.

"You dazed off. In some sort of…trance."

"Sorry," she lightly blushed.

"It's okay," Link said. "You ready?" he squeezed her hand.

"Y-Yes" she said, blushing a little more from the squeeze.

"Okay," he said. "Let's go!" he said starting to run. Hilda managed to keep up with him, then everything turned dark.

It's hard to describe what being in a wall is like, Link had experienced it multiple times before, and he still couldn't describe what it's like. Perhaps a dream. The outside world looked glassy and distorted, like looking though a warped window. Link looked over to Hilda she was looking around in amazement at world outside of the wall, a Lorule she's never seen before, she surprisingly looked normal, which meant he did too. He looked down, it had worked, and they were still holding hands, he blushed at the thought of this. He had to tell her that they needed to hurry or else they'd be forced out of the wall into the water.

"Let's hurry," he said. His voice surprised him, he never talked inside the wall, and his voice sounded like it was in a tunnel. He looked over to Hilda, she nodded and mouthed Okay.

Can she not talk? Link thought. Or just choosing not to? He ignored it for now and guided Hilda to the crack and threw the dimensions. She looked at the colors as they traveled in wonderment. I wonder how excited she is going to be visiting my home. Once they reached the other side Link pulled them out of the wall.

Hilda looked around, "So this is Hyrule?"

Link didn't like the way she said that, "Yeah? Is something wrong with it?"

"No, it's actually quite beautiful, much more than my kingdom." Link squeezed her hand, he then remembered that they were holding hands and took his hand away. "I guess we'd better get going,"

Hilda was a little disappointed that Link took his hand away but she knew she had to move on. "Yeah,"

"Follow me," Link said. Hilda followed Link, getting to the desert palace proved to be difficult they had to keep traveling back and forth between Hyrule and Lorule, it was nice to Hilda because she kept on getting to hold Link's hand, but at the same time it was starting to get tiring.

After the last time going back and forth, they were starting to descend the Palace stairs when Hilda had started to wonder if she could get a bracelet like Link's. She decided to ask. "Hey Link,"

"Hm?" trying to concentrate on guiding the way with his lantern.

"Do you think we could get me a bracelet like yours after this palace?"

"Why? You tired of holding my hand?" he teased with a huge grin on his face.

Hilda pushed his shoulder, "Shut up, no it's not that it's just, seems more complex that we don't have two."

Link nodded. "Fair point we'll have to see."

"See what?"

"If Ravio has a second one."

At the mention of that name made Hilda stop in her tracks. "W-What did you say?"

Link stopped and turned around. "We'd have to see if Ravio has a second bracelet?"

Hilda started to turn pale, so this is where he fled to, that traitor. She started to fill with anger, "Do me a favor Link,"

"What would that be?"

"Never say that name again."

"Why? Do you know him?"

"I'd rather not say," Hilda caught up to Link.

"Why? Did he do som-" Hilda's lips crashed into Link's with a kiss. Hilda broke away. Blushing beet red.

"Sorry," she said. "I didn't mean to do that."

Links face was tomato red. "O-okay. But um…..did you actually not mean to do that?"

"Well," Hilda tried to find the right words. "I mean, I did yet I didn't, or at least not yet. Make sense?"

"Kind of," Link said. "So like you wanted to kiss me just not until the time was right."

"Exactly," Hilda said.

"Well, then I'll agree to keep quiet about this until you mean to kiss me."

Hilda hugged Link. "Thank you," she said. She leaned back, "and yes, I did mean to hug you then,"

Link chuckled and shook his head.

Two hours had passed since they entered the palace, or at least it felt like two hours, and Hilda felt like she was going to lose it if she was here any longer.

"AHA!" Link exclaimed which made Hilda jump.

"What is it?" she asked.

"I found the big key!" Link said proudly.

"Which means?"

"Oh, right you're new to this, sorry. It means we're almost done with this palace."

"Finally!" Hilda said. "What's next?"

"The boss," Link said. "That and the big door we need to find it."

"Is that it over there?" She asked pointing to a wall across the room it was a big door, with intricate designs and a key hole.

"Why yes, yes it is."

"Yay!" She started to run towards it when the sand right in front of her dropped and descended a bottomless pit, luckily she stopped in the Knick of time. "Oooookay… there's that," she said.

"No worries," Link said. He pulled out a Hookshot and aimed it at the wall, He looked at Hilda, "Um… you uh…better hold on to me." He said awkwardly. Hilda found it cute. She wrapped her arms around him in an embrace.

"Hold on tight" Link said. Hilda tightened her embrace as she felt the surge of movement as the Hookshot pulled them to the door. Once they arrived Hilda moved closer to the door holding the key, she looked back at Link then asked. "May I?"

"I'd be honored" he said.

Hilda put the key in and turned it, the doors swung open.

Well? how was it for the first actual chapter for this story being back? I'm going to be doing a boss fight in the next chapter as well as Hilda and Link going around Hyrule before going to the dark palace. QotC (Question of the Chapter): While they're exploring hyrule what would you like to see Hilda and Link do?
