Chapter 6
Hilda screamed as the broom initially took off. She was of terrified heights. She clung tightly to Link as they zoomed across Hyrule.
"So where to lovebirds?" Irene asked, clearly enjoying herself.
"We're not love birds," Link said.
Irene laughed. "Yes you are. Where to?"
"My house."
"Got it," the broom seemed to travel faster. Then the broom stopped almost immediately, the stop almost made Hilda lose her grip. Link almost lost his grip too.
"Well that was an abrupt stop," Link grumbled. " You could have warned us."
"What would be the fun in that?" Irene asked. The broom lowered so Link could let go of the bristles of the broom.
Hilda was still clinging to Link shaking from her almost loosing her grip and her fear of heights. "Uh, Hilda?" Link said.
She whimpered.
"Hilda," Link said again lightly shaking her.
She snapped out of it and looked at Link. Her eyes widened when she realized her arms were still wrapped around Link's neck. She let go. "I'm so sorry!" she said. "I didn't even realize that I was still doing that,"
"It's okay," Link said. "Let's see if you-know-who has a bracelet. Are you okay to go in? Or do you want to stay out here?"
"I want to go in."
"Okay," Link started walking towards the door of his house, when Hilda casually slipped her arm through his. It caught Link off guard but he didn't make it noticeable, but he was sure his face said did, he could feel it burning up.
He unlinked their arms, opened the door for Hilda and once he was inside she re-linked their arms. Ravio was standing in the middle of the room looking at them enter. Hilda was glaring at Ravio which turned to a face of confusion. Does she not recognize him? Is this a different Ravio?
"H-hello, Hero!" Ravio said his voice quivering. "W-what can I h-he-help! You with today?"
Link figured that it was same Ravio just Hilda didn't recognize him for some reason. "I was wondering if you had another bracelet" Link said holding up his wrist.
"Ah," Ravio said. "Lemme check." He turned around and started rummaging through his bag. He turned around holding something in his hands, "Here's one," he said handing it to Hilda, once he did his hands whipped back as if touching Hilda had burned him. Hilda seemed to dismiss it, or at least acted like she did. She slipped the bracelet on her wrist. "Thanks Rav," Hilda said, examining the bracelet.
Ravio started to shake, "Y-you recognize me?" he asked.
Hilda looked at him. "No, I've never met you until today, Link just told me about you"
Ravio sighed with relief. "Ah, okay well I must clean up around here, so if you two will be going."
"Wait," Link said. "I want to buy the sand rod" pulling it out.
"Ah, that'll be fourteen-hundred rupees" Ravio said.
Link looked in his wallet. "I only have a thousand. Can't you offer me a discount?"
"I'm so sorry, hero I'd love to but alas I cannot"
"Why not?" Hilda asked. "He's rented all your items, you should have enough rupees for something by now."
"No, I do not Miss. I need a lot, for I am going to have my home renovated. It costs quite a hefty amount of rupees"
"Wait, I thought you didn't have a home." Link interrupted, "That's why you're here."
"Ah, well I do it's just very far away. And I couldn't sell my items at where I'm from." Ravio explained.
"And where's that?" Link asked.
"Far away, very far away. But that's not important, the price still stands, fourteen hundred rupees."
Hilda sighed "Here." She handed Ravio nine-thousand rupees. "Will this do?"
Ravio was silent for a moment, "Oh yes! Yes indeed!" He snatched the rupees and gave all the items in the shop to Link.
He put them all in his bag. "Thanks Ravio!" Link said. Holding out his arm for Hilda. She took it and they started to walk out.
"No problem!" Ravio called out after them. "Enjoy each other's company!" he chuckled.
Link rolled his eyes. "Thanks Ravio"
They walked out the door and closing it behind them. "Where to next?" Link asked.
Hilda thought for a moment. "Is there a village nearby?"
"There's Kakariko Village"
"Let's go there."
Link nodded and started to pull out his bell.
Hilda put his hand down. "NO!" she almost yelled. She collected herself "No. No flying. Let's walk."
Link laughed. "Okay." They started walking arms still linked. "So Hilda?"
"Hm?"
"What are you doing with nine-thousand rupees on you?"
"Well, I'm a princess, I need money on me in case I want to buy something."
Link nodded. "Makes sense, and what about, well you-know-who. You didn't seem to recognize him."
Hilda stared off for a moment before she spoke. "I don't know. He sounded familiar, like his voice. But he looked totally different. The Ravio I know wears a purple tunic kind of like your green one."
Link knew that the Ravio she knew was a touchy subject but he had to find out some information. "When was the last time you saw him?"
"About a week ago," Hilda said. "He-" she knew that she had to choose her words carefully or her plan might fail. That is, if she was still going through with it. "I don't think he liked my ideas for the castle, I was wanting to redecorate it, and I guess he didn't like the ideas." She shrugged. "No Idea though."
"I see unusual reason to leave, and was…" Link hesitated. "Was he loyal to you?"
Hilda swallowed. "Y-yes," her voice breaking.
"You okay?" Link asked stopping.
I loved him and he left me. Now I-I love you and you probably love your princess. Hilda thought. But she nodded a tear running down her cheek.
Link decided not to push her, so he went silent. For a moment they walked in an awkward silence. A few moments later the village came into sight. "We're there." Link said.
That cheered Hilda up a bit. "Good, is there any games?"
"Um, there's this chest game where you guess which chest as the bigger amount of rupees are."
"Ooh, that sounds like fun! Let's do that."
"Okay," as soon as they reached the village they walked to the "Fortune's Choice" building.
When they entered the Fortune's choice man greeted them with a big smile. "Ah Link, welcome back! And I see you brought a friend!" he said looking at Hilda. "Is she your girlfriend?"
Link started turning red as well as Hilda. "N-no she's not my girlfriend! She's just a-" Link started
"Friend." Hilda finished.
"Aw, that's cute" the man said. "You're even finishing each other's sentences."
Link turned redder. "Can we just play? Please?!"
The clerk laughed. "Sure sport. Just let me set it up."
He set up two chests. "You know the drill."
Link payed the fifty rupees, then looked to Hilda. "You know how to play right?"
She nodded. "Of course, I mean we have something like this in my kingdom" she whispered the part about her kingdom to not rise alarm. She went over and opened a chest. She pulled out a silver rupee.
"Beginners luck!" the clerk said.
Link rolled his eyes. "It's all luck."
The man shrugged. "Fair enough"
They played for about a half hour every chest they got a silver rupee, they must have made at least a thousand rupee profit from the game. They decided to go to the milk bar and get some milk. On their way out the man called to them, "You guys are such a cute couple by the way"
Link blushed. "We're not a couple"
"Sure you're not," The man said sarcastically
Once they exited they heard a small chirping. "What's that?" Hilda asked.
Link knew exactly what it was. "It's a Maimai."
Hehehe, they do make a cute couple don't they? Next chapter won't be out for a while just so you guys know. It shouldn't be more than a week. If it does then I'm terribly sorry! QotC: What do you think Link and Hilda should do know that they have a second bracelet? Reviews are also appreciated
