[Kasuka's POV]
Kasuka let out a small sigh of content as Izaya laid closer to him, the arm around his middle tightening a bit as the informant got comfortable in bed. They were both currently half dressed and under the covers, deciding to relax and watch a movie together since Izaya was spending the night there. They'd only been home for about an hour and had finally picked out a movie they wanted to watch after originally getting ready for bed, just in case they fell asleep half way through or something.
Kasuka was 100 percent awake still but with Izaya wrapped around him and the feeling of fingers slowly running through his hair, he was very sure he never wanted to move again, asleep or otherwise. He rubbed small circles over his lover's bare back in return as the movie started, Izaya had taken off his shirt a while ago so that he could sleep more comfortably later. Kasuka never understood how exactly that made him more comfortable, the other always complained about getting cold too easily and Kasuka always having the air conditioning on when it was unnecessary. The actor would never point this out to him though, not wanting to give him reasons for not showing himself off.
Izaya and Kasuka watched the movie in almost complete silence at first, the first half hour of it being pretty interesting and neither having anything to say. They were completely content with just being near each other for the time being as well, talking unnecessary. After that point though, Kasuka soon grew bored of the plot, seeing as it followed the same pattern as almost any other scary movie out there. He directed his attention to the other instead, much more interested in watching the various expressions going across the informant's face as the movie went on.
Kasuka had learned soon after meeting Izaya that the ravenett had never fully taken the time to relax before they started dating. Before Kasuka came along, apparently Izaya's schedule had been: Wake up, take a shower, maybe eat something, do some work, bug the locals, get back to work, eat some ootoro, go back to work, bug the locals again, maybe eat dinner, take a bath, go to bed. And all of the those things were in a sequence, a very specific sequence that had almost no variation to it and held almost no breaks from it. Sure, Izaya would occasionally take longer on a few days to get back to work because of Shizuo but besides that, it was all a very calculated routine. A routine that held going to the movies as a seasonal, maybe even yearly, event. And because of this, Izaya hadn't yet been made fully aware of or tired out of all the cliches that movies held.
Oh look, the girl thinks she hears something? Izaya heard it too.
She thinks it's a good idea to go down the creepy stairway with only a flashlight and some booty shorts on? Izaya's eyes are glued on the spotlight the flashlight gives without any complaints.
Holy shit, a totally unexpected jump scare made by some gruesome, horrendous, disgusting, obviously very cheaply made 3D-model monster? Izaya was now partially shoved underneath the actor who was originally beside him, the hand that had been running through dark hair now grasping at Kasuka's arm as he peaked over the younger man's shoulder, still wanting to see what was happening on screen even though he was thoroughly freaked out.
And despite being slightly embarrassed at the fact that this is what could possibly scare his lean, mean boyfriend, Kasuka couldn't help smiling at him in amusement and continuing to comfort him after the initial scare. Kasuka shifted so that he was on his side and took Izaya into his arms, the other on his side too so that it was easier to hide his face if something popped out again. The actor just held onto the other throughout the whole movie like this, also watching it after the action picked up again but still mostly focused on his lover. He just couldn't get tired of watching how his eyes got a little bigger when something suspenseful happened or when the music picked up and the character on screen was still oblivious, or how he would mutter/grumble something about them making a stupid decision before giving a tiny smile to himself in satisfaction when his hunch had been correct. The very best part was when something actually scary happened; Izaya would lean into him or hide his face in his chest or even try to physically back himself away from the TV and into the actor's body, despite how slight his actual movements are.
Everything about Izaya was hypnotizing to him, so he was genuinely disappointed when the movie ended and he couldn't continue to watch the other like he had been. Not that he couldn't keep staring at him, he could stare at him while he did other things as well; Kasuka just liked this certain set of emotions on the other more than what he got at other times. After all, it was so rare to see his boyfriend scared of anything. Then again, I don't want him scared all the time. That just wouldn't be Izaya anymore. Kasuka decided silently, smiling to himself once again as he pressed a kiss to Izaya's forehead and turned off the movie, along with the TV. He felt Izaya jump against him.
"Why'd you turn off the TV?" he asked, voice neutral. Kasuka raised a brow despite knowing the other couldn't see it yet; their eyes were both still adjusting to how dark it suddenly was.
"Because it's 11 at night and we have stuff to do tomorrow." Kasuka reasoned, chuckling a bit at the fact that Izaya might have forgotten their plans already. His boyfriend wasn't a scatterbrain very often either, which just made it seem funny to him. Izaya nodded against him, face now pressed into Kasuka's neck as they once again got comfy. Kasuka closed his eyes as he tightened his hold on Izaya. "Goodnight, Iza-chan. I love you." he muttered, getting a goodnight kiss in return. The actor smiled to himself as he tried to fall asleep.
It had been almost 2 hours and Kasuka still wasn't asleep.
Why you ask? Because Izaya still wasn't asleep and Kasuka just couldn't find it in himself to sleep peacefully while his boyfriend shuddered in fear on his lonesome.
Ever since Kasuka had told Izaya goodnight and shut his eyes, he could just barely feel his lover shiver against him at random intervals. It had started as a soft, little movement, that had just made Kasuka assume he was cold - just like he knew he'd be - and move the blanket up to cover their shoulders as well, returning to his tight hold on the other now that they were completely warm and toasty. He had gotten a small 'thank you' from the other before once again trying to fall asleep, only to be brought out of his drowsy state by more shivering, harder this time.
Kasuka had opened his eyes and allowed them to get used to the darkness before glancing down at his boyfriend, wondering if maybe he had a fever and thought he was colder than he really was. What he was met with was Izaya with his eyes still half open, biting his lip, with his arms now pressed in front of him and between them as he curled up tighter. Kasuka couldn't even think about how cute Izaya looked at the moment before he was wrapping him up tighter and making him glance up to catch his eyes. "Iza-chan, are you alright?" he asked softly, getting a nod out of the ravenett before he tried to curl up again.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just can't seem to fall asleep right now. Give me a couple more minutes." the informant dismissed, hiding his face again before Kasuka was tilting his chin back up. The actor looked him in the eyes again and stared, not hiding his disbelief.
"It's okay if the movie scared you, ya know. It's a horror film, that's kinda the point." Kasuka reassured, giving a small smile to the other before Izaya rolled his eyes.
"Kasu-kun, I'm not scared. I'm pretty sure I've lived through at least a dozen experiences more frightening than that little- Ah!" Izaya started to explain, cut off by the creak of their bedroom door as it drifted a little ways open. Before Kasuka could realize what had even caused it, Izaya was now fully underneath the covers in front of him, in a perfect ball huddled against Kasuka's midriff. This time, Kasuka took the time to grin and chuckle to himself about Izaya's actions.
"So, you're not scared at all, huh?" Kasuka asked sarcastically, a wide grin on his face until there was a pinch on his side, the pinch being almost a thousand times worse than the usual jabs he'd receive for his comments. He bit his lip to keep from letting out any noise that would let Izaya know he'd won, not wanting this to become the usual repercussion, before he moved Izaya's hand away from him and scooted him back up until Izaya's face was visible from underneath the covers. "Sorry, sorry. I didn't mean to joke around. But really, it's okay to be scared from a scary movie. So why don't you come back up here and give me a kiss so we can both go to sleep, alright? Nothing is going to get you while I'm around."
"There were 12 people there when the movie started, I'm sure you being here could just be a technicality to that thing.."
"Okay, but ya know what isn't a technicality? This being reality and that movie still being a movie." Kasuka pointed out calmly, smiling a bit at the pout he got in return. "I'll protect you, I promise. Nothing will get near you and if anything does, they'll have to go through me first. Sound like a deal?"
Izaya looked up at him with something close to puppy dog eyes, obviously weighing his options when he glanced at the room around them before looking back at Kasuka. "Okay.. But I get a refund on this deal at any time." Izaya muttered, getting a roll of the eyes from the actor beside him.
"Of course you do. Now just close your eyes and start counting ootoro, I'll be right here."
Chapter 94!
The inspiration! IT HAS AWOKENNN!
Okay, it kinda took a while to come back and it will probably leave again real soon, maybe even the moment I go to sleep tonight, but at least I got a chapter to you guys.
And it's super fluffy and is longer to make up for the wait!
I hope that makes up for it at least a little bit guys ^^;
I hope you all loved this chapter! Favorite, follow and review to see more!
PS. Beato: Yeah, I hear ya about things being busy lately. I understand, though it is crazy worrying for you to suddenly drop off the world for almost 2 weeks. That could be just me though; I have a history of thinking the worst will always, no matter what, happen.
Back to the story, I agree that the dynamic with all of them is awesome. It's like they were just made to be a gang! Izaya, the leader; Kasuka, second in command; Shizuo, the tank; Namie, the analyst/rationalist.
It should be more than a spin-off, it should be a movie...
