[Izaya's POV]

The informant and debt collector trudged down the street together at 5 P.M, the next day, ready to face their target.

After a long day of almost total silence between them, the two shoved together in Kasuka's living room because said actor had a meeting to go to that couldn't be rescheduled, they were both more than eager to be out and about in the city, even if they were still within kicking distance.

Shizuo was once again on point, something Izaya restrained himself from pointing out at the moment, and Izaya followed behind him with his hands in his pockets, one holding on tightly to his trusty switch-blade. After months of slowing changing from his old self, followed by weeks of repression from his boss, the informant couldn't quite put into words how good it felt to be out holding it with a purpose again, besides general self-defense. And as they got closer and closer to their old study grounds, the informant almost wished that they kid they were looking for would give him a reason to use it.

It wasn't likely, seeing as the kid didn't sound like the physical type. The brat was barely pushing a D+ in Physical Education, after all. But even if the kid didn't threaten them, Izaya could still threaten him.

The informant still wasn't very happy about being attacked, and finding out that a little kid had gotten to him with such ease was quite the blow to his confidence, but that was also what made him rebound so quickly into action. This kid was just a kid. A smart one, an incredibly smart one possibly - he could do quite a few things that other children wouldn't even consider an option - but he was still just a brat stuck in grade school, waiting to be released into the world. And that made it all the easier to let him know just who was in charge around here.

Shizuo and Izaya were finally at the school gates around 5:30, both of them waiting until it was a couple minutes before the bell was supposed to ring, the two splitting up so that Shizuo could go through the back of the school and wait there, since neither of them knew which route he would take to get home. That wasn't exactly a piece of information you find lying around on a piece of paper, after all.

The two waited and soon the bell rang, Izaya leaning against one of the entrance bracers as teenagers filed passed him, memories of his times back in school coming to him while he looked around for their target. Don't distract yourself, you can come back around when there isn't a brat trying to bother you. he reminded himself, glancing at his phone to see if Shizuo had sent a text about the boy. Nothing yet. It didn't say he was in any clubs, so he should be coming out about now. He's either way in the back of the campus or he's caught up somewhere talking. Maybe if we're lucky, the brat will trip down the stairs all by himself. That would at least keep him bed-ridden for a couple days, then we could track what hospital he's in and make sure he can't run while we talk to him.

A slightly pleased grin had come onto Izaya's face as he kept pondering ways for their target to have gotten caught up without them even needing to get involved, slowly getting more drowned in his thoughts until he finally caught sight of a familiar face. Chiba Atsushi, the 14 year old anarchist brat. Pleasure to finally see you in person, kid.

The informant waited patiently as the boy got closer to the gate, Izaya sending his accomplice a quick text telling him to come around the other side and meet him there. Once Atsushi was within a couple meters, Izaya popped out and walked up to him, having to hold out a hand and stop him physically when it seemed that the boy was too preoccupied looking at his phone to bother watching out for bystanders. Or, in his case, enemies.

The freshman looked up, blinking it confusion at first before his eyes widened. The kid knew he was trapped, but Izaya had to give him credit for how well he could have hidden to someone who wasn't use to this tactic. "Um.. Hello. Do I know you?" the teen asked politely, sounding honestly lost as he looked at him. Izaya just gave him a smirk, the hand on the kid's shoulder tightening while his other was still currently hidden in his pocket, switch-blade ready to be opened at any point.

"No, I don't think we've met. But I would like to inform you that one of your toys happened to find it's way into my window the other day, and sorry but.. My companion is awful upset about it." the ravenett replied, moving closer to him as he moved to wrap his arm around the boy's shoulders, gripping his other arm instantly once the student was pressed into his side. Just like Izaya had thought, Shizuo had finally made his way to the front gate and was standing in it, watching them with a dark glare on his face. The glare was obviously meant for Izaya, anyone who existed in this area for a day knew that, but it still did manage to scare the poor kid next to him if his sudden fidgeting said anything.

"See? Awful upset, it really is quite the trouble to keep him this calm too. You should be lucky he hasn't blown up yet." Izaya prattled on, smirk just growing on his face more with each step they started to take off the campus, the three of them heading in the opposite direction of their home before taking him around the school edge where they couldn't bee seen as well. Atsushi just went with them the whole time, dead silent as he was led away from possible witnesses. They'd only be witnesses to a pretty bad taunting but hey, how would Atsushi know that? Threats are all in the presentation, after all.

Once they were right where they wanted to be, Shizuo and Izaya standing diagonal to him to keep him in place as they questioned him, the boy finally broke down. His shivering turned into tremors and he looked between them like he was looking at the grim reaper. "L-Look, I didn't mean to hurt anyone okay? I-I just thought that since I could sc-scare you guys, i-it would be fun to do it again! I didn't know that he gave me a different order, I-I wasn't paying attention, I swear. I'll do a-anything to make it up to you!" Atsushi started crying, almost sobbing as he looked between them for forgiveness.

The informant and debt collector both shared a confused look before each taking a step closer, since the kid looked like he was seriously contemplating his odds in a chase. "Shut up." Izaya ordered, finally taking out his switch-blade and opening it for Atsushi to see, the boy now freezing in place and watching it instead of them, just like Izaya had thought. "Now, what the hell are you babbling about?" the informant continued, staring at him calmly as the boy didn't move or speak, still focused on the blade. Great, he's a statue.

Izaya paused for only a second before thrusting the blade forward, it coming a couple inches close to Atsushi's neck before the boy opened his mouth, about to let out a scream before Shizuo muffled him. It just came out as whimpers when the student realized that calling out was also not an option. He went back to his tactic of being a shivering wimp. "What the fuck!? You can't just jerk that shit around near a-" Shizuo started.

"This kid made a threat towards us and obviously did something a lot worse. I have every right to 'jerk this shit around' at him." Izaya replied calmly, not smirking anymore. He turned his attention back to their captive. "Now, I'll ask you again. What were you talking about and what did you do?" Shizuo released his hold on Atsushi's mouth so that he could answer properly.

The kid finally looked up at him and met his eyes, silent again before his eyes widened a bit more. "You.. You don't know? I-I thought.."

"Out with it!"

Atsushi jumped, the previous fear on his face melting away into utter guilt. "I-I.. I wanted to scare you again, so when I thought it had been long enough for you to go back home, I left a package at your d-door... I-I didn't make them myself this time, a friend of mine gave me what I asked for but th-they weren't toys. I.. I saw two girls come out of your building with the package before I knew it was dangerous, I swear I-I didn't mean to actually hurt anyone!" the boy admitted quickly, sounding honestly sad and afraid. Though, Izaya couldn't care less about his feelings at the moment. Shizuo glanced at him after the teen explained himself, sharing a look of worry with the informant.

"Who came out with the package, what did they look like?" Izaya demanded, taking the knife away since the kid seemed fully cooperative at this point. Atsushi gulped down his emotions as he glanced into space, obviously trying to remember them.

"Um.. It was two girls, brunettes. I dunno how old they were, maybe in middle school or something, they had uniforms on. One had glasses..." the boy listed off, trailing off at the end as he came up with nothing else. Izaya wasn't listening anymore, fear gripping him.

He turned away from the other two, yanking out his phone and calling someone on his speed-dial, ignoring the questions he heard behind him from Shizuo. The phone continued ringing and went to voice-mail twice before he was too frustrated to simply hold his phone and do nothing else. "Izaya!" Shizuo demanded beside, calling the informant back to earth as the debt collector, for once in their lives, called him by his real name. "What the fuck is wrong with you? Who are you calling?" the blond continued to question, neither of them paying attention to the student who was still slumped against the wall close to them.

The ravenett looked to his temporary bodyguard with wide eyes. "The girls that took that package were Mairu and Kururi.. They're my little sisters."
