Well that was very interesting. The first thing Professor Dumbledore asked me when I walked into his office was, "Did you bring that diary of yours, Miss Lonsdale?" And of course I didn't, because I assumed I wouldn't need it.

Anyway, then he explained, Keeping a diary is a very handy thing for you to do Rose, because it allows you an outlet for everything you're feeling. This is important because often your magic may become the outlet for your emotions if they're not being expressed in other ways."

So then I asked, "But I already write in a diary and it doesn't seem to be helping. What else can I do?"

"Well," Dumbledore said, "I would like to show you how to perform a certain binding spell on your diary that will enable you an easier outlet for your emotions onto the page. But seeing as you have not brought the book tonight, we will work on some other skills that will help you control your magic." Then he asked, "Have you heard of Occlumency, Rose?"

Which I had. So then he started teaching me the basics of Occlumency, which was very interesting. We mostly spent the whole hour meditating and focusing on clearing our minds. He also talked about how mental images are important in Occlumency, because building mental walls in the mind to protect information is just as much about visualising as it is about mental fortitude. It was really interesting, and I actually feel like I learned a lot!

Anyhow, it'll be interesting to see what he means about this diary thing next week. It's interesting just listening to all the stuff he knows!

Oh, he also told me he thinks I should tell Sebastien as soon as possible about being Veela. He asked me who I had told and he said it was highly important that I not keep things like this bottled up inside, as it's dangerous and might affect my magic even further. So I guess I'd better write Sebastien now.

God, why am I such a freak?
