Disclaimer: no

Rin let out a sigh for what felt like the hundredth time. She checked the mirror once more before storing it in her bag. Her eyes were puffy and her face was pale. She cried for several hours before she finally went to sleep. At first it puzzled her as to why she was so distort over hearing about Hikaru's feelings for Haruhi. But she had to face the facts.

She had liked Hikaru all along.

At first she didn't know what to think of him. Of course she had no idea which one of them was him. Soon after she believed he was the most annoying boy she had ever met. He was inconsiderate for others and said what ever came to his ignorant little head. Not to mention that he was completely rude. As she noticed these thing it was very clear as to which of the twins was Hikaru. Then suddenly she was arguing with him everyday. She just couldn't understand why he was so focused on messing with her.

Then suddenly she looked for the fights that they had for one another. It wasn't at first but soon the insults they threw at one another actually became something she looked forward to. It was sad but that's how their relationship worked. She wasn't even sure if they've ever had a civil conversation that hasn't ended in them arguing. Sometimes she would even count the wins she would have in debating against him. Though she found it exciting, she saw how he interacted with a certain cross-dressing girl.

And it wasn't Kris.

At times she felt jealous of Haruhi. She was pretty, smart and everyone seemed to be drawn toward her. Who wouldn't be? She was everything Rin had wanted to be. Of course she was forth over all in the entire school, but did that matter if no one cared. Yes, there was the factor that school was important to go to college. However, it was most likely that her parents would attempt to put her in an arranged marriage, again.

She didn't want it to come to that, but let's be honest, she wasn't the prettiest flower in the garden. She had never brought this up to Kris because she was very self-conscious herself. It was shocking though because she was one of the prettiest girls she had ever seen. And that was even before she found out Kris was a female.

Rin, however, wasn't lucky like them. She felt better with thick lens glass and her hair braided down her back. She began to touch it with a frown.

"Lady Mazaki." She blinked up at her driver quickly changing her expression.

She cleared her throat. "Y-Yes, what is it?"

"Well, we've arrived at your school, miss." He glance back at me through the mirror. "I wanted to ask if you would like to be absent today. You look rather unwell."

Rin pursed her lips before looking up at him with a smile. "No, I'll be fine."

"Are you positive."

She nodded her head. "Of course, I have to go. I need to keep up the Mazaki name, right?"

He gave a hesitant nod before getting out of the car and walking over to her door. He opened it and she got out with a graceful smile. He nodded his head as she picked up her bag.

"I will pick you up after you visit your club, correct?" Rin stiffened.

"Um, I'm not completely sure today...I-I'll call if I'm not." She said before she walked away from the car. She walked into the school gates with an unsteady breath. What was wrong? There wasn't any reason to feel this nervous. After all it wasn't as if Hikaru was going to confess to her. It was Haruhi he liked. She bit down on her lip.

She was beginning to hate love.

"Hey Rinny the Pooh! What are you doing standing in the middle of the walk way. People need to get through." She turned around to see Ana and Stephanie standing there. Ana raised her brow at Rin. "What's wrong with you?"

Rin swallowed. "I don't know what you mean." Ana tilted her head with a frown, before looking to her sister.

Stephanie nodded and glanced to Rin. "I will see you all later then."

The shorter blond grabbed her by the arm and dragged her before she could protest. Rin had almost forgotten that Ana was amazingly strong and stubborn. So there was no point in trying to get away. She finally stopped in front of the fountain. She stared over at it before looking back at Rin.

"So we're alone, you gonna tell me what's wrong now?" She asked crossing her arms.

"...nothing per say is wrong-"

"If you try to avoid the question I'll just keep you here until you answer me. And don't give me any crap like, 'school is important'. Because you and I both know that's just an excuse." Rin stared at her in disbelieve. She now understood what Kris meant by when she said Ana was very forcefully. She was sure that Ana wanted to help, but the way she went about was brutal.

Rin gulped before looking down. "Well, yesterday...when we looking for the tanuki, I over heard somethings that Hikaru and Kaoru were discussing. It was about Haruhi...Hikaru said that he felt jealous of how Haruhi was talking about Tamaki. And Kaoru said that maybe it was because he loved her...he didn't say anything and left."

Ana stared at her. "So you finally realize that you like Hika-Pika."

Rin looked up at her. "I guess I do."

The blond raised her brow. "You guess you do? The way your acting now tells me that you know you do."

Rin frowned. "Well, it doesn't matter because he likes Haruhi."

Ana groaned in aggravation. "This is why I hate relationships it's too much frickin' drama." She glanced up at Rin and walked over to her. They stared at each other. Ana raised her hand to her face. Rin yelped in surprise. She held her forehead in pain.

"Ow, why did you do that?" Ana had flicked her directly between her eyes.

"Quit acting like a shojo heroine and go after him. Show him what he's missing out on." Ana said. Rin slowly lowered her hands.

"...but-"

"No, no buts. You like him and that's that." She said pointing at her chest. "Feeling this way is going to be painful, but you don't want to regret not trying in the first place." Ana touched Rins glasses. "You're a pretty, Rinny glasses or not. If he didn't go for a girl like you he would be crazy." Ana grinned.

Rin became a bit flustered and looked away. "Geez, all this talk about me why don't you have a boyfriend."

She shrugged. "I've had off and on relationships back in America, but it was all to troublesome."

"So you don't like anyone now?" She thought for moment.

"Hm I don't think so."

Rin glanced to her. "That's not a no. Who is it?"

Ana grinned. "Dang Rin, lets get your situation straight before we start anything else, alright?"

"So you won't even give me a name?" Rin pouted. "Are they in the same year as you?"

"Lets get to class, school is important you know." Ana said as she walked on ahead.

Rins jaw feel open. "Hey!"

*Kris POV*

I had no idea how to express how I felt now. I understand that Hiakru was confused but didn't Kaoru think for a moment that telling him that would make things worse? Well it didn't matter, I made the decision to face him this morning. He wasn't outside near the gate waiting for me today. So that was sign number one that he was avoiding me. He knew that I was definitely going to talk to him about it.

After the incident yesterday, I couldn't catch up to Rin. My body was already hurting a lot and she wouldn't answer my phone calls. Haruhi asked me if she was alright and I wasn't sure what exactly I was supposed to say. I mean she was part of the problem without even knowing it.

Things like this make me hate high-school and I'm sure I'm not alone with this feeling.

I sighed and brushed a frustrated hand though my hair as I walked down the second year hall. I glanced at the clock and it seemed that I was going to be late. That's probably why he went straight to class. He assumed that I would be more concerned with school.

Well the ginger wasn't getting away. He was going to help me solve this problem.

I knew that Rin had already been feeling dow because she felt like Hikaru didn't like her. Even if she didn't admit it I knew she had feelings for him. And the way she looked after Kaoru said what he did. It must have really crushed her to hear that. I pursed lips. Whenever I need help with Mitsukuni she was there for me and I want to aid her when I can.

She one of my best friends after all.

When I finally reached their classroom I saw that he wasn't in there. I walked over to Haruhi and saw her sitting by herself. Hikaru was sitting up front quietly. I raised my brow but said nothing as I walked up to Haruhi.

"Kris what are you doing in here?" She asked.

"I'm looking for Kaoru have you seen him?" I asked searching the classroom once more.

"He was in here a little earlier but walked out. I'm not sure where he is." She said. I sighed.

"Well thanks anyway." I went to walk out, but Haruhi called me.

"Wait Kris," I glanced back at her. "What's going on? I've noticed ever since yesterday everyone has been acting kind of off." I forced myself to smile.

"Don't worry Haruhi everything will be fine soon enough." I said as I patted her shoulder and gave Hikaru one last look. I walked out of the door and started back down the hall. I was right to think he was avoiding me. I think he knew I was going to search for him first thing in the morning.

"Hey Amazon, whatcha doin' here?" I turned around to see Kyo standing there with a curious look on his face. I looked him over. I don't really ever see him in his uniform so this was a change. It was rather sloppy but not in a bad way.

"Well I'm looking for someone but they weren't there. So I'm just going to go to class now."

"Really? Who are ya lookin' for?" He asked.

"Well you know the Hitachin twins?" He nodded. "Kaoru, I'm looking for him."

He blinked. "Well I can't tell them apart like you can, but I coulda sworn I saw one of 'em just a minute ago."

"Really? Where?" I asked.

He pointed down the hall. "He went that way and in a hurry too."

So he is avoiding me. I gave a wide a slightly frightening smile. "Thank you Kyo."

He sweat-dropped. "Uh anytime, Amazon."

I started walking in the direction he point toward and turned the corner. As if on quo Kaoru and I meet eyes. He stared at me with wide eyes and I looked at him with a blank expression.

"Good morning Kaoru."

He gulped. "Uh hey, Kris. You know I should probably head to class, you too." He went to go around me but I held him by his arm, pushing him back against the wall.

I tilted my head with a smile. "What's a moment between friends, right?"

"Uh..."

"Right?" I said taking a step closer. I would have noticed the students around us staring, but I was completely focused on the task at hand. Kaoru were at eye level. I had noticed his cheeks turning red, but I said nothing. It was probably the close proximity.

He sighed in defeat. "Alright, let's talk. You win."

Victory!

I smiled and took a step back. He relaxed slightly as I did this. "Look I'm sorry for telling Hikaru, but I had to. He looked so confused and really upset."

"You should have seen Rin though." I said. "Everything about her looked broken. What were you guys even talking about for you to have to come to that?"

He rubbed his neck. "Well we were searching for the tanuki and we saw Haruhi. She said that what Tamaki said about the tanuki seemed to mirror himself and she was speaking so fondly about him. I guess it all just got to Hikaru."

"That's what I wanted to talk to you about." I said.

He blinked. "About what?"

"Remember yesterday when I said something good had happened." He nodded. "Haruhi is finally starting to recognize that she likes Tamaki even if its small."

"Really?" He asked. I nodded. He sighed. "And I just made things harder, didn't I?"

"Kind of, yeah." His shoulders sagged. "Look we can fix things somehow."

"If match-making is a career I would quit." He said.

"Well we have websites for that now." I said in a matter of fact tone. He gave me a smile.

"Your cute." I blinked

"Um...thank you?" Suddenly the school bell rang. And I was late. "Well I guess I'd better get to class."

"We'll figure something out." Kaoru said. I nodded to him with a salute before I turned to the stairs since I was one floor up. I walked up one step at a time. I'm not sure how I can explain to sensei why I was late. Maybe he'll be fine with it or not. Though it's not like I can sneak in. I'm to tall for that. I made my way up the empty hallway to my class and everyone stared at me.

"Oh Mr. Carson. I realize that you are injured but it would be best it you don't make this a habit or you will be in trouble." The class stared at me for my reaction.

I blushed. "Um yes, sir." I went to walk to my seat. When I heard some students whispering.

"I heard that Kris and one of the Hitachin twins were getting physical out in the hall." I almost tripped.

"Really? They have been hanging out a lot more as of late."

"Oh! How will the brotherly love act go with him there too."

"I think it will be more exciting this way."

My face turned red. "Alright right, everyone quiet down." Sensei said.

I took my seat and covered my face. Maybe I shouldn't have been so bold and confronted Kaoru the way I did. I turned and looked at Rin. She turned to me and gave me a smile. I blinked and mouthed.

'Are you alright?'

She pursed her lips. 'I'm fine, no need to worry.' She smiled again.

I raised my brow. 'Are you sure?'

'Positive.' She said.

I sat back in my seat and looked up at the board. Maybe it was best to concentrate on my work for now at least.

*Break*

Once the bell rang and everyone stood up for break. I glanced over at Kyoya and remember what I had wanted to ask him yesterday. "Kyoya!" I called from the door. I jogged up to him. He turned around and looked down at me. "Can I ask you something?"

I knew he could tell what it was. He turned to Tamaki. "Go on ahead without me." The blond looked over at me.

I smiled. "I'll see you later."

"Is it a secret? I wanna know." Tamaki said. I sweat-dropped and looked at Rin. She nodded and took the dramatic blond by the arm.

"Lets go prince charming." She said, dragging him along. I could Tamaki's wines from down the hall.

Finally when they were gone I turned back to Kyoya. "I'm sure you already know what I want to ask you."

"Do I?" He said in what sounded like a taunting tone.

I kept and even expression. "Yes...are you tutoring my sister?"

He paused for a moment. "Well, our family has a mental therapy facility that helps people through the processes and such..." My face held a blank expression as if I was a lost child. "...yes, that would be correct"

"Really?" I paused. "Can I ask why?"

"I think you already did." He said with an amused expression.

Stupid shadow king.

"Well, why?"

"Do you think there is some sort of catch?"

"Yes." I said without even thinking. "Uh...I mean, knowing Stephanie she would never let anyone know about her...condition. So I'm sure you would have had to research her." I paused. "Would this have anything to do with her being a scholarship student?"

"You know Kris, you're a lot brighter than you let on." He said. I stared at him as I felt my eye twitch.

"Thank you."

"But yes it does something to do with that aspect. I would have had you ask your sister before me."

I rubbed my neck. "Well I mean, your right here and...my friend so I just thought, you know." He blinked, but said nothing. He and I never really talk about our "friendship". It's just weird. "Well I'm gonna go, you wanna walk with me?"

"Alright." He said.

*Ana POV*

Ana was starting to get annoyed with the amount of drama leaking from this school. Who knew that it would be this troublesome trying to get to people stuck with a ball and chain. At least that's how she looks at relationships. That's probably why her's never lasted very long. But like everything else she shrugged it off. Well, after she punch whatever it was into oblivion. Though Stephanie was faster than her to actually get violent believe or not.

"What's wrong with you?" She glanced over to Chika. "Your more of an air-head than usual."

Ana held a hand to her chest. "Aw, are you worried about me?" His face turned red.

"No of course not!" He yelled. "What would make you think that?"

She patted him on his shoulder. "It's alright my Chika, you don't need to hide it. I care about you too."

He pulled back from her. "I'm not worried. Your face just looked really stupid, it's distracting."

"Oh, and you can't keep your eyes off me!" She held her chest. "It must be true love!"

"Ugh! Do you hear yourself!" His face much redder than before. He turned away and stormed down the hall.

"Where are you going my love? I though we were meant for one another!" Ana yelled, which caught everyone's attention. She smirked when Chika ran away even faster. When he was gone her smile left completely and faded into a dull expression.

"Break time." She said as she walked down the hall. Ana had realized that she didn't have very many friends. All were actually with Piglet first. Which is fine, she didn't need people to like her. When she was in the main hall she noticed a familiar ginger. She pulled a grin onto her face as quickly as she could.

"Hey there!" The boy jumped and turned around. Yes, it was Kaoru, She wasn't sure for a second.

"Oh it's just you." He said.

Ana put a horrified expression on her face. "How could you say that? Just me, that hurts my soul it really does." She covered her eyes. She looked up to him after a moment and saw him roll his eyes. "How is that? Do you think I'll become a famous actor with a lot of money? Hmmm?"

He sighed with an irritated expression. "Do you ever take anything seriously?"

Ana blinked. "Who peed in your cereal this morning?" They stared at each other. "Oh I see, this is about your screw up yesterday, right?"

"Who told you?" Kaoru asked.

"Well certainly not your brother. Hika-Pika and I aren't that close." She said. "And no it wasn't my sister."

"Rin." He sighed.

She shrugged. "Well I had to force it out of her."

"Of course you did." He said.

"Hey the girl needed a little push."

"Or in your case a shove of a cliff." He said.

"Hey, I'm not that bad!" She defended.

"Yeah, your right...Your much worse."

"Thank yo-HEY!" He smirked at her.

"Um, hey?" They both turned around to see Rin standing behind them shuffling her feet.

"Hey Rinny, your just in time. Tell this boy I'm an awesome human being!" She said pointing at him.

"She's alright." She said. Ana's mouth feel open.

"How could you." She held onto Kaoru's arm and pretended to cry. He rolled her eyes.

"Was there something you needed?" He asked.

She bit her lip. "Well, um, I wanted to ask if you know where Hikaru is? He wasn't where we all usually meet...so..." Ana blinked at her before grinning.

"He went toward the south stair-well if I'm not mistaken." He said.

"Thanks." She said with a brighter tone though she still looked nervous. She walked quickly in that direction.

"Yes!" Ana cheered as she went to walk in the same direction, before she was grabbed from behind.

"Wow, where do you think your going?"

She turned around with an innocent expression. "What do mean?"

He deadpanned. "Your sister does the same thing and I'm not falling for it."

"You fell for her." She mumbled.

"What was that?"

"Nothing!" She went to leave again but he stopped her. "Oh come on aren't you the least bit curious? Krystal says you guys spy all the time."

He pursed his lips before taking her arm. "We better hurry then."

She grinned. "I knew you would see it my way." He shook his head.

*Rin POV*

She was gonna do it. What did she have to lose? Everything? That was worse case scenario. If not they could go back to the way things were right?

She held her chest. Her heart was beating fast and she didn't know if it was from excitement or fear. Maybe both. She walked through the halls until she found the stairs Kaoru was talking about. Her eyes brightened when she saw the boy looking out of the window. She was about to call him out but he was looking out with a smile on his face. He looked peaceful and happy.

She was curious as to what it was when her question was suddenly answer. "Hey Haruhi are you going to leave the host club to garden?" There was a pierce through her chest. Of course it was her. Who else would it be that made him look like that?

She gripped her dress as she bit her lip as she heard Haruhi reply. "What and have you guys annoy me there too." He smiled down at her. She went to turn away but it was too late he saw her. They stared at each other and neither of them knew what to say. However, Rin came all the way here so she would say what she cam here for.

She looked him straight in the eyes. "Hikaru, I...I like you. I have for a while now."

Hikaru looked at her with wide eyes before looking away. "What are you saying?...all we ever do is argue and now you like me? Your so confusing."

"What's so confusing about what I just said. I clearly told you that I liked you!" Rin yelled.

"You see right there your yelling at me! This is all we ever do how could you end up liking me from this?"

"I don't know! I just do why can't you just accept it!" She looked more angry then sad. This wasn't how she had wanted things to turn out. It was going to be simple and calm. But that was never the case with them.

"I don't know. It's weird. This doesn't feel right."

"How is me liking you weird?" She said feeling a bit hurt.

"Why would you like me?" He asked, he felt confused.

"...so you can't give me an answer at all?" She asked.

He was quiet for a moment. "I think that things should stay the way they are. "

Rin felt a surge of anger. "What? Us arguing everyday? You ignoring me when you feel like it. Avoiding each other?" She gave a sigh, before speaking. "I thought maybe I had a chance, but Haruhi is number one right?" She said in a much calmer tone.

Hikaru stared at her in surprise. "Rin you-"

"No, your right. Nothing will change. Nothing about us is going to change. You'll, never change and I should be fine with that." She said smiling up at him. "I'll see you at host club right? Like always?" She turned away before he could say anything else. She ran down the stairs and out the door. She hadn't noticed the furious Ana being held back by Kaoru.

"Let me-" She tried to yell but he covered her mouth.

"I know you upset." I am too. "But you can't just storm up there and beat up my brother."

"You wanna frickin' bet!" She growled.

"Would Rin or Kris want you to react this way?" He asked, trying his best to hold her back. She suddenly stopped.

"You can let me go now. I won't do anything..." He gave her a look. "I promise." He slowly let her go and she leaned against the wall. He was surprised at her expression. "I was the one who told her to go and talk to him. Look what I did." She looked completely guilty. A change of emotion from what he usually saw from her.

He took her hand. "We should probably leave before we're caught." She nodded and followed him. As they walked down the hall Kaoru looked over at the girl. "Hey if it helps I screwed things up too."

"Yeah, you did." She said.

He flinched and held his chest. "Oh my heart. That hurt. I think it's gonna scar." She blinked up at him and he waited for a reaction. He felt embarrassed for trying to cheer her up so he faced forward and then a chuckle was heard.

"Thanks for trying, Koala bear." She said smiling up at him. He patter her head.

"Your welcome." He said.

"Though I'm sure Rin feels much worse than either of us." She said. Kaoru frowned.

"Yeah."

"Highschool sucks."

"Yep"

*Rin POV*

She had been rejected and it felt awful. She had thought there might have been some hope, but in the back of her mind she knew it was useless. All she wanted was answer of some kind. However, Hikaru has to call her confession weird and confusing. They would never work but she didn't think he would put it that way. It hurt terribly.

She didn't want to cry out in front of people so she went and found a place she could cry in peace. She went out side to the rose bush maze and broke down. She remember when she had liked Kris, but she hadn't felt this bad. They had become friends the day after. Though, she didn't think it was going to work that way with Hikaru.

But it would have to.

"Hey what's that noise I'm trying to sleep. Whose making that racket?"

Rin quickly rubbed her eyes. "I'm sorry I hadn't realized...Oh it's you Kagura."

"Hey Mazaki, I didn't think I'd see you here." He said looking down at his phone. "Ops, looks like I missed the math test. Don't tell Kris I skipped alright?" He said with a grin, but it suddenly dropped when he saw her face. "Hey what's wrong?" He said walking over to her.

She wiped her eyes. "Nothing really."

"This isn't nothing. Do I need to beat someone up."

"Ha, I wish." She forced out a laugh. He watched her carefully.

"Mazaki." He said as he came and sat down next to her. "Tell me what's wrong." It wasn't a question. Their faces were inches apart and she had just noticed how nice his eyes were. Of course she always knew he was handsome, She turned away from him when she realized what she was thinking.

"It's a pretty short tale, with an unhappy ending."

"I'm okay with that." He said. "You can tell me."

"Well..." She told him what happened and how she felt about Hikaru. At first it was just the basics but suddenly she was poring out her heart to him and in the end she cried again. She wiped her eyes. "I'm sorry, I get kind of emotional. I'm stupid and dramatic."

He shook his head. "It's fine. Your being yourself and if that guy can't see how great you are he doesn't deserve your time."

She blushed. "Your just saying that to make me feel better."

"No, I mean it." She looked up at him. "Mazaki, your smart, strong and you have confidence. Your not afraid to be yourself in front of others. I might have to take my proposal for Kris and give it to you."

"Quit playing." She laughed though she was blushing terribly.

"Nope, I'm serious." She turned back to him. "Mazaki, do you want to go out with me?"

She stared at him and gulped.

*Kris POV*

I shivered and Tamaki looked over at me.

"What's the matter?"

"I don't know I suddenly felt cold. It just disturbed me is all." I was tempted to say "in the force", but I don't think they would have gotten it. I looked over at Rins desk and saw that she wasn't back yet.

I hope she was alright.
