Yuki felt like she needed someone to talk her through this and help her process what had just exactly had happened. She went to Hazuki's.
"Hey!" Hazuki chirped from the kitchen. Yuki looked as though nothing had happened just an hour or so ago.
"Here's your jacket you let me borrow the other day." Yuki held out the dark jacket to her twin. decided that she didn't want to jump into it yet. She didn't want Hazuki to think that she just uses Hazuki as an outlet of expression because that's not true. Hazuki is just the only person Yuki trusts enough to allow herself to open up fully.
"Thanks. You can borrow it, by the way." Hazuki said jokingly. Yuki smiled a little. "Can you hang it up in my closet for me? My hands are covered in flour!"
"Sure." Yuki went into her sister's room and opened the closet door. She turned on the light and scanned the closet, looking for an available hanger. Yuki finally spotted one shoved all the way on the end, hidden by all of her clothes. She slipped the coat on it and squeezed it between all of her clothes.
But something had caught Yuki's eye. There was a box pushed into the back corner of the closet. Written on the side of it was "High School." Curious and wanting to reminiscent, Yuki pulled the box out of the closet. She had great difficulty because Hazuki's stuffed her closet to full capacity and the box was heavy.
Yuki noticed on the other side of the box that was pressed against the wall was written "Yuki." Incredibly curious, Yuki opened the box.
The contents of the box was entirely letters.
Yuki started to dig through. They were all addressed to her. They were all from Japan. The sender's names were written by the business name, but Yuki recognized Suoh, Hitachiin, Haninozuka, Morinozuka, Fuijoka, and one Ohtori.
Her letters. They did write back. They truly did. But Hazuki has been hoarding them! Hazuki, the person Yuki trusted the most. Little miss perfect Hazuki has taken away Yuki's chance of happiness. Perhaps if you had gotten them, she wouldn't be in the mess she is in now.
"Yuki?" Hazuki called. "What's taking so long?"
Yuki left the bedroom, abandoning the box. Hazuki was washing the flour off her hands in the kitchen.
"My letters. The ones I sent to everyone...why didn't they ever respond to me?" Yuki was testing Hazuki as Hazuki tried her hands.
Hazuki gave Yuki a funny look as she faced her. "I already told you. Maybe your letters or their responses got lost in the mail."
"Bullshit!" Yuki's hand had connected with Hazuki's cheek with a crack! before Yuki could even stop herself. Hazuki turned her head back slowly to reface Yuki. Her eyes were wide with shock and fear. Her cheek was a bright red color. Hazuki brought a hand to her injured cheek. "I found them in your fucking closet. And you were the one who somehow tampered with the mail and sent all of my letters to Kyoya back to me, didn't you?"
"I just wanted what was best for you-"
"I'm done with liars. I'm done with being screwed over all the time. I've had a hell of a day with Kyoya already, Hazuki. I will decide what's best for me. I will control my own life and my own future and nobody's going to get in my way anymore."
Yuki turned away. She was so furious she was shaking.
Hazuki grabbed Yuki's hand. "Yuki, please-"
"Don't touch me!" Yuki ripped her hand away from Hazuki's. "Don't even talk to me. I trusted you."
When Yuki left Hazuki's apartment, she leaned against the wall and rubbed her temples. Two in one day. Two in one freaking day. She can't handle all of this. It was too much. She just had to get away and take a break. Yuki was emotionally exhausted.
Yuki decided she's going to take a small vacation. It was much needed. She needs to calm herself down or else she'll kill the next person she sees.
"Have you seen Yuki?" Kyoya asked Tamaki a few days later. The pair were in Tamaki's apartment. Everyone agreed to meet up there, excluding Yuki who they haven't heard from in a while.
"I'm afraid not." Tamaki replied.
"You haven't spoken to her at all? Called her or sent her a message?" Kyoya inquired.
"Nope."
"And Hazuki?"
"Haven't heard from her either. We've stopped by Yuki's apartment a few times, but her spare key was gone and no one would answer the door. Then we would go to Hazuki's, and it would be the same situation." Tamaki explained.
"Their professors have cut back the amount of homework given..." Kyoya muttered to himself.
"What was that?" Tamaki questioned. Kyoya paused. Tamaki went on. "Why are you so interested anyway?"
Kyoya was hesitant to answer his second question. He heaved a heavy sigh before replying, "Yuki and I...we got in a heated argument."
"What else is new?" Tamaki joked. "Continue."
"My actions have been incredibly stupid and not thought through very well recently. Although Yuki's duet was beautiful, I did not want her performing it. I tried to persuade her dance instructor to pull the number, and I was unsuccessful, obviously. But also recently Yuki has been receiving a fairly large amount of homework every night that has been depriving her of eating, sleeping, and having a social life. That was my doing as well. I had successfully convinced Yuki's professors to assign heavy amounts of homework to her every night. Surprisingly, Yuki has managed to figure all this out and came to my apartment to call me out on it."
Tamaki listened carefully to Kyoya's words. He was smiling, because he already knew this. He even knew the answer to his next question, but asked it anyway: "Why'd you do that?"
The question had made Kyoya grow frustrated. Kyoya restlessly ran a hand through his hair. Kyoya looked away from Tamaki, hating himself and ashamed because he couldn't to word it right and, to him, it was stupid reasoning.
"I did it because," Kyoya began slowly. "I couldn't stand seeing her with other men. My goal was to keep her busy enough so she wouldn't be spending any time with any other men. It pissed me off too much to watch her hang out with them like it was no big deal."
"That's because you're jealous, silly." Tamaki stated. Kyoya looked at him. "And you know it. But you can't admit it. You've told Yuki all this, but she can be very oblivious and more than likely thinks you're just being a selfish asshole. Which you can be at times, but Yuki doesn't understand that it's out if jealousy. I bet she's just cooling off. She probably doesn't want to do anything stupid, extreme, or irrational so she's probably taking a vacation. Maybe Hazuki's with her."
"Tamaki, I have to talk to her. It's urgent." Kyoya was anxiously running his hands through his hair. Tamaki has rarely seen his best friend so disheveled and restless. Something must be really bothering him.
Tamaki didn't really know what to say to that. There was nothing he could do. He was just as in contact with the twin girls as Kyoya.
"I think I love her, Tamaki."
Those words made Tamaki grin. He's been waiting so many years to hear him say that. It was so obvious anyway, but it was sweet when you heard it come straight from Kyoya's lips.
"I know." Tamaki responded.
"You knew?" Kyoya asked.
"Everyone does! Except for Yuki, the adorably oblivious girl. But your very own protected eyes betray you, Kyoya. We can see it with the way you look at her. We can see the sparks fly between you two when you two are together." Tamaki answered.
"But, wait, there's more I have to tell you." Kyoya protested. "Karen's cheating on me." It was when Kyoya said those words that the rest of the members of the former host club (excluding Yuki) had entered Tamaki's apartment. Kyoya and Tamaki turned their heads to face them.
"Wait a minute." Hikaru began. He and Kaoru were looking around.
"This isn't the right apartment!" Kaoru added. The twins began to usher the group out of Tamaki's. Haruhi rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"This is why we knock..." She muttered.
"I said it. You heard it. I'm not denying anything. Just get your asses back in here." Kyoya grumbled.
"I'm sorry, Kyo-chan!" Hunny apologized.
"It's not your fault." Kyoya brushed off.
"How do you even know if she is?" Haruhi asked.
"I caught her on tape of her sleeping with one of her business partners in her office." He answered, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose.
"Oh."
"That's rough..." The twins spoke. Nobody knew what to say to that. Tamaki decided to jump in.
"Have you confronted her yet?" Tamaki questioned. Kyoya nodded.
"I might've freaked her out a little. I hate infidelity and I was emotionally exhausted after my fight with Yuki-"
"You had a fight with Yuki!?" Everyone else gasped. Tamaki held up a hand to silence them.
"That's a different story. It really isn't any of your business anyway. But, as I was saying, I lashed out at Karen. After I had calmed down on some level, we had a peaceful conversation. And we both came to the agreement to break off our arranged marriage."
Silence settled in between the couple as they sat on the leather couch.
"I'll tell you why I did it." Karen said softly. She was smiling, but tears were brimming her eyes. Kyoya looked over at her. "I tried to make the best of our arranged marriage. I thought I have fallen for you, Kyoya. I really did. But then I began to realize, that you didn't feel the same way. It's just good business. I tried harder to win you over, but it became apparent that your heart already belongs to someone else. What a lucky girl she is. Your mask is very good, Kyoya. But when she walks in the room, you change. I look at you and I see the way you act with her and the way you look at her.
"It's love. I wanted that, Kyoya. I've learned that we are incompatible and that's okay. You two are soul mates, and that's beautiful. I see the chemistry. It's very obvious. She's your other half, and you're hers. It's perfect and I was jealous. I wanted to feel love, and John did. He made me feel loved. I think our love was just false love, and I'm happy for you. Am I hurt? Of course. But you'll be happy, and I'm happy too. We both found our lobsters."
Kyoya let the words sink in. Karen wiped her eyes, but tears still streamed down her cheeks.
"Kyoya, I am only hurt because of the way you used me to make her jealous." Karen spoke.
"I'm sorry I hurt you, Karen. That was not my intent." Kyoya said quietly.
"I know it is. You hurt a lot more people than you know, Kyoya. Actually, you might already know that. And I know that you rarely feel guilty, ashamed, or regretful. It's who you are. But I also believe you are an honest man. You wouldn't lie to me to make me feel better. I believe you." Karen babbled.
"Thank you. You certainly are acting much more mature and handling this much better than I am." Kyoya admitted. Karen laughed to herself a little.
"That's because you just had that big fight with Yuki two days ago. Things must be rough for you now." Karen wiped her eyes once again, and the tears stopped. "Listen, let's go back to Japan. Let's break off this stupid arranged marriage, Kyoya. Sure, we might get disowned by them. Screw our parents. Let's lead our own lives. That's what she taught me, you know. Come back here, Kyoya, and go after her."
"Are you sure you really want to do that? You're upset now, so you might not be thinking straight." Kyoya cautiously protested.
"I know what I'm talking about! I don't want to marry you. You don't want to marry me. Let's go up to our fathers and tell them straight that we wish to dissolve this engagement. I'll return the ring and everything. I will not allow this wedding to happen, Kyoya. I will not! Lets go to Japan now. We might get disowned, but that doesn't matter anymore, does it?" Karen declared with determination.
"You've been around Yuki too much..."
"I could say the same to you too!" Karen snapped. Kyoya sighed. How would his father react? He was afraid that he would actually disown him. Then what would Kyoya have? A name, but what good is that if it can't be supported? Was she worth it? Of course she was, but that didn't ease his fears too much. That's why he has to talk to her soon.
"Really?!" Tamaki, the twins, and Hunny asked, their eyes sparkling. Kyoya scowled.
"Yes, really. I'm getting on a flight this afternoon back to Japan to work it out with our fathers. We both might get disowned, I'm too emotionally exhausted right now to actually care." Kyoya replied. "And I'd like to speak with Yuki prior to leaving, so I'd appreciate any assistance there."
"I haven't heard from her. She's been ignoring my calls!" Hunny chirped.
"Ours too." The twins added in unison.
"Ditto." Haruhi said blankly.
"What about Hazuki?"
"Nothing." Hikaru replied.
"What? You two text each other all the time!" Kaoru protested.
"Not in the past few days. She's been ignoring me too." Hikaru explained, his eyes looking a little sad. Kyoya sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"I'm going to have to leave in about an hour to go to the airport. Let me know anything if you hear from either Hazuki or Yuki."
Author: Phew! What a long chapter! Sorry guys! I keep torturing Yuki, I know. But I really didn't like how "perfect" I made Hazuki and how I made some of the parents and Yuki's older brothers look bad. I also wanted to make Karen look somewhat better but also hold onto the characteristic of hers of talking to much. So, yeah, thanks for reading! Please review because I love reading them~! I request this almost every chapter so please take the hint!
