Yuki slept a little on the flight back. She was exhausted, but the flight was uncomfortable, even in first class thanks to some certain rich bastards. Yuki was eager to get home and go to bed.
What's she going to do? Did Kyoya break off the engagement? What if Tamaki and everyone had told her was a lie? A cruel, cruel, lie? Yuki would probably drown in her own tears if that was the case.
Yuki decided to go see Kyoya tomorrow afternoon. Not in the morning, for she knew how nice it was to sleep in. She will go to his apartment. If he is not home, then she will track the bastard down. She was going crazy because of that man.
The question is, what should Yuki say to Kyoya? Yuki will have to ask him thousands of questions. But where does she start? Should Yuki ask him if he went to Japan? Or should she ask him how he feels, if he returns her feelings at all?
This was getting too complicated. Things shouldn't be like this. Yuki is so close to getting him back, but yet so far. She was scared of damaging their relationship beyond repair. And Yuki didn't want their relationship to affect their friends. Yuki doesn't want them to end up caught in the middle, because Yuki knows she will be Kip. That thought scared her.
First things first, get some sleep. Yuki will call a taxi to go take her home and climb into bed. She felt so cold and drained. Why can't things be easier? Why does it have to wear her out so much?
When Yuki got off the plane, waiting for her in the airport was Hazuki. Yuki stopped and they stared at each other. The twin sisters have not spoken to each other since Yuki's discovery of her stolen letters. Yuki didn't tell the host club anything about it. She didn't want to destroy Hazuki's relationship with them.
"Hi." Hazuki greeted quietly.
"Hey." Yuki returned.
"Need a ride?"
Hazuki drove Yuki back to her apartment. They didn't speak the whole way there. Yuki just watched the snow fall and the world go by out the windows. She had no interest in speaking with her. Yuki shouldn't have even allowed herself to accept Hazuki's offer. But Hazuki did come all the way to pick her up. Yuki didn't want Hazuki's trip to go to waste.
What was Yuki supposed to say to Hazuki? Yuki trusted Hazuki more than anyone else. Okay, she was tied with Haruhi. Haruhi was Yuki's best friend. But Hazuki was Yuki's own twin sister. They were one freaking egg! And Hazuki betrayed Yuki. Hazuki allowed Yuki to suffer all these years and spiral into despair.
Once Hazuki pulled into the parking lot of the apartment complex, Yuki prepared to get out. However, before she made her departure, she said to her twin, "thanks."
"Anytime." Hazuki responded. Yuki gripped the door handle to let herself out. "Yuki."
"What?"
"I really am sorry. I didn't mean to make you suffer like that. I thought I was helping you..." Hazuki explained.
"I suppose you're right." Yuki agreed softly. Hazuki's intentions were pure, but the outcomes were brutal on Yuki. Yuki didn't think she could stay mad at her twin for forever. "Sorry I hit you."
"I deserved it."
"Yeah you did." Small chuckles escaped from the girls' lips. They smiled at each other.
"Good luck, Yuki."
"Thanks."
Yuki entered the apartment complex and started fishing for her keys as she ascended the stairs. She was completely unaware of the shadows creeping up behind her. Yuki unlocked the door to her apartment and entered. Upon entering, she turned on a lamp, for it was dark out and her apartment was pitch black and closed the door behind her, preventing the shadows from getting any closer.
And standing right in the middle of her living room was none other than Kyoya Ohtori.
Yuki's eyes widened in surprise. She was so shocked, that she dropped her keys on the floor instead of the nearby side table. But that was when she realized the host club had lied to her so she would be depressed and unhappy and so the surprise of seeing Kyoya would be ten times better.
"Kyoya." Yuki breathed.
"I heard you went to Japan." Kyoya spoke.
"Yeah...I needed to talk to you." Yuki admitted.
"I need to talk to you too." Kyoya agreed. They stood on opposite sides of the room, neither moving.
"Did you go to Japan?" Yuki asked.
"Yes."
Yuki gulped.
"And?" Yuki questioned. Yuki's heart was beating right out of her chest.
"I had a late meeting with Karen, my father, and her father. I dissolved my engagement to Karen. I caught an early flight back to come tell you, however, I hear that you went to Japan after me." Kyoya announced. She was feeling dizzy. Yuki was trembling uncontrollably and she didn't know why.
"You did?" Yuki squeaked.
"I did." Yuki started towards him. Stiffly and slowly at first, but she couldn't help it.
"Now what?" Yuki inquired. She was terrified of the answer. Her throat was closing. She was preparing herself for the worst possible rejection. Kyoya broke his engagement to Karen, but he still doesn't want Yuki.
"I need to tell you something." Kyoya announced. "I love you, Yuki."
Yuki's eyes filled with tears and then sprinted at him. She flung herself at Kyoya, hugging him tightly and letting the tears escape.
"Really, Kyoya?" Yuki choked out through her tears that were staining his shirt.
"I've always loved you, Yuki, even after all this time. And I've decided that this fall I'll be transferring to Harvard University and I will move here in Boston." Kyoya promised. Yuki started really crying then, unable to suppress the tears. She thought she was dry of tears, but guess again.
"But what about your dad? I'm the Hoshizroa rat. How pissed is he?" Yuki pointed out.
"I don't care. I'm leading my own life now, Yuki. I'm staying by your side no matter what. I love you, and no one can ever change that. I'll persuade him that what I'm doing is right, and he will understand. Everything's going to be okay." Kyoya affirmed.
"I love you too, Kyoya! I always have, and I always will! Forever and ever! I will never leave you again!" Yuki cried, hugging him tightly. Kyoya wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her close. Yuki no longer felt cold. She was warm and safe in his arms. She was home.
With his free hand, he pulled her chin up to make Yuki look at him in the eye. He wiped her tears away delicately.
"Please don't cry, Yuki. Why are you crying?"
"I'm crying because I'm happy, Kyoya! I'm really really happy!" Yuki answered. it was the first time in a while that she was crying this hard because she was so unbelievably happy. Yuki has him back.
Yuki still had to stand on her tip toes a little, but she pressed her lips against his. Kyoya returned the kiss passionately. Both of them were unleashing their love for each other. It was a long overdue kiss. They haven't had such a kiss since high school. Yuki wrapped her arms around his neck and ran her fingers through his hair. Kyoya had wrapped two arms around her waist and pulled her closer to him. It made both of them realize how much they've truly missed each other, even realizing it themselves a little, as they completely melted into it as the world around them completely dissolved. Nothing else mattered anymore.
The pain in Yuki's aching chest was disappearing. Her heart, broken in millions of tiny pieces from before, was now fully healed. The emptiness Yuki felt before was gone too. Yuki felt loved, and she was able to return it and share it. It made her all warm and fuzzy inside, which just increased her excitement.
The dwindling flames have now been reignited into a blaze that will never be threatened to go out again. The light has washed away all of the dark clouds and her sunshine has returned, and it's not going anywhere.
"See?"
"He's her lobster!" Hikaru cried.
"And she's his lobster!" Kaoru added, both from the other side of Yuki's apartment door.
"Guys, we shouldn't be eavesdropping!" Haruhi scolded.
"We had to find out, Haru-chan!" Hunny protested. Tamaki wrapped an arm around Haruhi's waist, pulling her close to his side.
"I told you everything would work out!" Tamaki exclaimed proudly.
"And because of our meddling too!" The twins added mischievously. Haruhi rolled her eyes.
"You're right. They're perfect for each other, but they wouldn't have ended up together if it wasn't for you." Haruhi admitted.
