Chapter 14

Frigga managed to catch her daughter-in-laws head before it made contact with ground. Looking around for someone to help she was surprised when it was Loki who pulled Darcy up into his arms.

"Loki, when did you get back?" his mother asked following him back into the palace.

"Just now. Mother, what happened?"

Frigga explained to him why she was there and what she had revealed to Darcy purposely leaving out that his third son would one day be the ruler of Jotunheim and that Darcy was the crown princess of Vanaheim.

Loki looked between his wife and his mother not quite sure if he had heard his mother correctly. "She...She's..." he couldn't seem to get the words out so great was his shock at learning that his wife was carrying the first of their six children. Six. He could hardly believe what he was hearing. It was completely unheard of for a frost giant to have more than one child and he had accepted that he would father at least two, but to hear that he would father six, well he could understand why his wife had fainted. He himself felt faint just thinking about it.

"Oh, there is one other thing I didn't tell you. The king of Vanaheim would like an audience with your wife as soon as possible."

Loki turned to his mother after laying his wife on their bed. "Why?" he asked suspiciously.

Frigga smiled and then wondered if Loki's reaction to her news would be the same as Darcy's. "Because he would like to get to know his daughter," she said softly though a mischievous grin played around her lips as she spoke.

Loki froze at his mother's words. Darcy was the daughter of a king! He turned to look at his wife and tried to see the kings feature in his wife sleeping countenance. Not really seeing anything he turned back to his mother. "Is he already here?"

"Yes, he awaits her in the throne room."

Loki nodded and then left the room leaving his mother to watch over his wife.

He entered the throne room silently hoping to catch the man of guard though his plan failed.

"Loki, I know you are there," the king said with a chuckle.

"How?"

"Your magical signature gave you way," the king replied turning to the younger king.

"I understand that you want an audience with my wife," Loki returned changing the subject.

"Yes," was all the older man would say.

"I am afraid you may have to wait a little while she is indisposed at the moment."

"I am sorry to hear that, but I am not leaving until I have spoken with her."

Loki nodded and then decided that if the man before him was actually his wife's father then he could allow him to see her. "Well, in that case follow me. She is resting at the moment. She fainted upon finding out some rather... interesting news today." Loki grinned not wanting to reveal just yet that his wife was carrying their first child.

"I see, and what news could have been so ...interesting that she fainted in the first place?"

Loki tried to bite his tongue not wanting to reveal anything just yet, but the king was persistent.

They made it to his and Darcy's room and asking the king to hold a moment went in to see if his wife was awake yet. He found her sitting up in the bed a look of utter confusion on her beautiful face.

"Loki? When did you get back?" she asked as soon as she caught sight of him.

"A little while ago. How are you feeling my love?"

"A little lightheaded but I'm fine. Did your mother tell you the news?" she asked while discreetly covering her lower abdomen with a still shaky hand.

He saw the movement of her had and smiled. "Yes, mother told me. By the way where is she?" he asked not seeing his mother in the room with them.

"She had to return to Asgard a moment before you came in. She did say that my father was here to see me though."

She looked down not sure if she wanted to meet the man that had helped bring her to life. She could understand that he had had to leave her mother but she still was not sure if she wanted to see the man in person just yet.

"He is and would like a word with you. He refuses to leave until you do."

She sighed and nodded ready to get out of bed when her husband stayed her with a hand. "No, stay right were you are, you need to rest.

"But..."

"Darcy, no buts, you are going to stay in that bed until I say so."

She huffed knowing that he would simply use his magic to keep her there if she didn't comply and truthfully she wasn't sure she could stand up at the moment anyway. Her head was still spinning from all the information she had gained that morning.

"Fine," she finally huffed crossing her arms over her chest and staring at him in amusement.

"Good. Now may I show the Vanaheim king in here?" he asked kissing her forehead.

"I suppose," she groused.

He nodded and returned to the king who was standing outside the door.

"She will see you now," Loki said opening the door wide enough for the king to walk through.
