A/N: I'll do another chapter tomorrow as well! (HOPEFULLY!)
Alexa POV
I knew I was being followed, I was the tail catcher after all. I had noticed it as I reached the town centre.
I was stood next to a starbucks and thought I'd go in for a hot chocolate, then I could see who walked in through the door, who was following me.
So that's what I did. I pushed open the door and walked to the queue, a second later somebody came and stood behind me. I guessed that was my guy.
He was stood behind me so I couldn't turn without looking suspicious. I ordered my hot chocolate (With whipped cream and a flake duh), then I took a small table in the far corner.
That's when I noticed him. He had shaggy light brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing plain ripped jeans, dark blue trainers and a swamp green t-shirt. He was definitely a spy, and definitely a tail. Definitely the enemy. Maybe even a member of the Circle of Cavan.
I sipped my hot chocolate and tried not to stare at him. The hot chocolate was amazing, but I couldn't taste anything, I wasn't paying attention. He ordered a medium hot chocolate with cream and chocolate flake, like I did. Then he headed for my direction.
I tensed and glanced back down at my drink. I pretended to play with my phone. He came and stood next to me. "Is the seat taken?" He asked me, I looked around the room, all the other tables were packed.
"No." I said nonchalantly and tried to hide my worry, why had I been so careless as to pick up a tail barely older than me? I should have stayed at Gallagher Academy like Zach and Dad told me to. I was such an idiot.
"I'm Seth by the way. Seth Harper." He held out his hand for me to shake. I shook it and replied.
"Kellie, Kellie Rivers." He grinned at me. I smiled back, it was my worst fake smile ever. He pretended to by it and sipped his drink. I know he knew I was lying, it was written all over that smug face of his. But I could also tell that he told me his real name, why would he do that? Unless he knew that I wasn't going to leave her alive, or, at least able to tell anyone else.
That thought made me shiver to the bone. "Cold?" He ask. "If you drink the hot chocolate it'll help." I didn't blink. "Or you could coldly stare at it till it freeze." Seth smiled a bit. He didn't look like he worked for the Circle. Though, no body ever did. I didn't laugh at his 'funny' attempt at a joke. Instead I downed my hot chocolate and put the cup down. My throat was burning.
"You've... erm.." He pointed to the top of his lip. I wiped mine embarrassingly, cream mustache. Seth smirked and ran his hands through is hair. My stomach fluttered, WHY! I was officially the worse spy ever!
"So, you new here. I haven't seen you around?" Seth asked and stirred his drink, clearly not interested in drinking it. I wondered what he was up to.
"I moved a few months back." I told him, not a lie either.
"With family?" More probing. I almost rolled my eyes.
"Yeah, my mum and dad." I lied.
"Oh, so you're an only child?" Like that wasn't obvious from what I said.
"Yes, wish I had siblings though." Seth grinned at my comment. "What?" I laughed, not forced either.
"You don't want siblings, honestly. They are the worst." He stopped stirring his drink and started messing with a closed pack of sugar.
"What do you have?" I ask him.
"I have lots of brothers." He emphasised the word lots. Blackthorne maybe? They did recruit Circle members.
"I have to go." I checked my watch and stood up. He stood up as well, eating the sugar.
"I'll walk you out, it'll be getting dark soon." He smiled. I couldn't say no really, too obvious. So I agreed.
"Sure, thanks." We left Starbucks and walked in the direction of my foster house. They'd kill me for being back late, I hadn't told them about Gallagher Academy. What would they say about the uniform?
I straightened my skirt at the back self consciously. "You cold?" He asked. Yes!
"No, I'm fine." The sun was just setting a head of us. I thought it was beautiful, though I dared not say it out loud to him. "My house is close to here."
"But you go to Gallagher Academy." My heart temporarily stopped, then I checked my uniform badge on my blaser. I laughed at my own stupidity.
"I have to pick a few things up, I'm heading back to school tomorrow." That's probably what I'd have to do. We turned a corner onto Windmill Lane, I could see the light of my home just up a head. "Unless you want my mum to kill us both you'd best not come up." I told him. It felt weird calling her mum, I never did that.
"Oh, really?" Seth put his hands in his pockets.
"Yeah." Why wouldn't he go?! I was beginning to get annoyed, the house was getting closer and closer.
"I just walked you home." Seth almost sounded desperate.
"I know. But they really wouldn't see it like that." It dawned on Seth then, or, that's what he pretended. We said bye and he walked back down the road.
Just as I got to the door he yelled. "Bye Tail Catcher!" Blood was pumping in my head like a drum kit. Oh no. Oh no, oh no. I couldn't see him when I looked around. He was gone. This was so not good.
A/N: Sorry for another late chapter!
