A/N: Since it's the holidays I'm aiming for 5 chapters this week. This is 2/5

Cammie POV

Why wasn't she back yet? I had checked around the whole of Roseville and back here. I punched my bed in frustration. Liz looked at me with sad eyes. They knew it was my fault she was gone. I'd let her go. But they don't understand the urge to be free. To leave your life. I still shouldn't have been so stupid. I may have done that before, had the same urges, but that had gone so badly.

I'd ended up being tortured and kidnapped. Poor Alexa. I hoped she'd be okay. "Cam." Macey ran into the room panting, and Macey wasn't easily out of breath. She had a huge frown on her face. I had a sudden feeling that Mum had found out I had been gone.

"What?" I asked Macey panickingly (not a word but oh well).

"Joe's gone after Alexa. He just left." My heart sank. This wasn't good. "Zach trying to go after him but Bex is holding him back, quite literally." I sighed and stood up, running my hands nervously through my short kept blonde hair as I did.

"Why can't he go?" I asked and followed Macey's strides down the long hall. I peered over the banister and saw Zach shouting to Bex.

"There's been some of the Circle spotted around Roseville. Not many, but enough to keep us all on high alert." Macey rambled. I was only have listening. Zach looked so scared and upset it hurt.

"Where's mum?" I looked at all the worried faces below us. Mum wasn't one of them.

"Oh, she's gone to set up lock down. We're going under siege. The Circle won't get in here now. Not again." Macey said firmly and skipped down the steps. I followed quickly.

"Cammie!" Zach grabbed my arms and pulled me forward. "You have to persuade them to let me go out. If the Circles there then Alexa in danger. And Joe." I felt a pang of jealously, they weren't together but I felt so annoyed.

"Zach she's fine!" I growled and slapped him off of me. "She's gotten away from them for years." Zach was shocked to silence by my out burst.

"Cam she's like a sister to me, I have to help her. And Joe's like a dad..." He looked back to the door that was being locked and barred. I rolled my eyes, I knew how he felt. "I went after you, when you ran off."

"This has nothing to do with that Zach." I told him and folded my arms over my white blouse.

"Yes, it does. I went after you and I couldn't find you, and I regret every second of that. Because you were hurt and in pain and I didn't know and couldn't stop it." It dawned on me where he was going. I had been thinking the same thing only minutes ago.

"Zach she could be half way across the country by now. This is beyond us." Bex didn't get it.

"No, she's still here." I breathed and looked to the door.

"How?" Bex probed for information. We both ignored her, looking into each others eyes.

"I lost you Cam, I can't make that mistake again. I couldn't live with it, I can barely live with it now." Zach said distantly.

"If the Circles still here then she is." I grabbed his hand and we ran to the door.

"We have to go." Zach nodded and argued with the teacher standing at the door. Macey and Bex ran to us.

"Then we're coming to." Macey said. I almost disagreed. But I did that too often, they could handle themselves. Even when I said I didn't need their help I did. I always did.

"Okay." They clearly hadn't expected that.

"We could ask Josh." Bex suggested. It was a start.

"For gods sake!" Zach yelled at the new young teacher. Poor guy, he barely looked older than us. And Zach could be intimidating.

Bex stepped forward and gave a sympathetic apology to the guard before hitting him in the back of the knee's. He fell over and Zach elbowed him in the pressure point on his back. Then me and Macey pulled the door open before anyone could stop us.

"Come on!" Zach was out first, leading the way.

"You don't even know where Josh lives!" I called out to him, taking in a breath of cold night air. Macey and Bex were to each side of me.

"Hurry up then, where does Johnny live!?" He slowed down for us to catch up. I was going to be defensive and correct him, but I held my tongue, there was a time and a place.

"Turn right, go by the Starbucks." I told him and we all ran right, the light of the Starbucks was like the light at the end of a dark tunnel.

Once we reached the Starbucks we looked quickly inside, just to make sure. "You looking for someone?" A boy called out to us. He had dark brown hair and was smiling.

"Yeah, our friend." I told him, Bex looked at me as if to say, 'Are you out of your mind?' So did Macey.

"Oh, a blonde in uniform." It occured to me then that he might be the circle. Zach wasn't with us, he was checking inside, asking at the counter.

"Yes." I couldn't lie now, me, Bex and Macey could take this guy easily.

"I walked her home about ten minutes ago. Nice girl." His grin said it all, Circle. I clenched my fists behind my back.

"Thanks, we were just worried." I told him and tried to walk past. Surprisingly the boy let us past, still grinning a grin that reminded me of Zach.

Only when we regrouped with Zach did the boy turn and shout. "Good luck Chameleon!" But when I turned he was gone. This was so not good.
