Date: May 14,
Today was supposed to be a normal day at my part-time job. Unfortunately someone was choosing to misuse their quirk, again…
"Put your hands up!" The mysterious villain said, lighting his hand ablaze.
Like I'd do that, let's play along for a bit. "P-please d-d-don't kill me!" Yes, I said it perfectly. Now for the tap.
"Open the cash register," I slowly walked to the register at his request, 'accidently' tapping my shoe on his. "NOW, DON'T WALK THERE RUN YOU IDIOT!" he yelled, making my eardrum ring.
Gosh, I know he's a villain but he's super stupid. I can't believe I was able to touch him.
I pretended to rush to the register when an old lady entered the convenience store. Dang it, why is she in here? Is she deaf?
"Can I buy this chocolate?" The old lady said. She either doesn't care or doesn't know what's going on.
"Hey hag get out of this store endless," the villain paused for a brief second, "you'd like to die."
"Oh no! Y-you aren't serious, are you young boy?" The slightly frightened lady said.
"Time's up, you should have left. Now you're gonna die!" He reached out his hand, not on my watch. I disabled his quirk, leaving him stunned and confused. "What just happened?"
"Dang, I knew you were stupid, but I didn't think you'd be this stupid." I replied to his confusion. He's not going to stop yet, a little bit of antagonizing should do the trick. "I disabled your quirk with mine. Now you're going to jail." There on my face sat a smug smile I had been concealing the entire time.
"Haha, you're joking. There's no way you could disable my quirk." He said with sweat covering his mask. Dang, he's got a bad case of denial. Suddenly, the door to the store burst open.
"Put your hands in the air!" The cops said. Took them long enough, thank goodness that old lady called 911.
"You came for the robbery, right?" Their gazes were telling me they thought I was crazy. "Well, you just missed it. Here's the thief." I gestured to the villain, while waiting for their response.
"Kid, you must be crazy." A hero among the cops said, then I heard a rustling behind me. Seriously, I should have bound the dude. Well, guess that means I need to use my hand-to-hand combat skills. I smirked as this villain put his hand on my shoulder.
"You should have thought before you did that." I told the villain as I counter grabbed his hand and pulled on it, making him immediately force all his weight down. Perfect. Unfortunately for him I had a back kick aimed for his family jewels. Almost immediately he crouched down in a perfect position for a take down, so I took him down and twisted his arm behind his back. "Are you done yet?" I asked. Shocked by the events that just took place the cops froze for a second, till the hero came and tied the villain up.
Turning to me the hero said, "Come with me young lady." Sure, totally don't gotta finish my shift or anything. I followed him into the hero agency he went into. "Can you get an interrogation room, and information on the girl behind me ready?" He asked a hero who stopped as we passed by.
"No problem sir." The hero said then ran off.
What's up with this dude? Maybe he's a well-known hero. "You wait here with this lady." He told me, gesturing for me to sit on the couch in front of me next to this grown woman. Complying I sat, while the woman chatted away. I was only able to say three words in the conversation between me and her, Hello, Cherry, and good. She mostly asked questions but as soon as I was going to answer she'd ask another question. It was exhausting.
After that ordeal the hero from the robbery came and said 'we needed to talk.' Thinking we were going to talk about the thief I agreed on talking to him, boy was I in for a shock…
"Mind telling me miss, why did you use your quirk?" The hero sat, waiting for my answer.
"I'm sorry? If I didn't use my quirk, that old lady we saw would have died. Would you rather have had me do nothing?" I asked, sarcasm almost leaking into my voice.
The hero sighed, looking at me then at a few papers in front of him. "You're not even in a hero school, why do you keep on using your powers?"
It's not like I chose not to go to a hero high school. "I was born with a power to control, but I want to protect people not control them." I said, at the brink of tears. "So I can't help it, every time I see someone in danger I want to help." I really wanted to go to one, but my mother said I couldn't.
"Miss Cherry Belcher, that's your name, right?"
"Yeah it is, what's yours? You've been interrogating me, yet I don't even know your name." Why talk about this now, is this cop slow or something?
"We've been told your ability is quirk control, so we didn't tell you our name in case that's how your quirk works."
"Why didn't you start with, 'miss tell me more about your quirk.' Instead of 'miss why did you do this?' " I tilted my head. They must be super cautious or super stupid. "Any who I can't use my quirk on anyone I haven't touched recently, even if I barely touch them I can control their quirk. It only lasts for about half an hour then I lose control over the quirk." I glanced at the ceiling fan, "Also, I don't use my quirk on civilians or heroes, endless there is a chance someone may die."
"Hm, ok I'll tell you. Call me Visible."
What kind of person has people call them Visible? He winced as if I called him a pervert. Why'd he wince? "Is that your hero name?"
"Yes, my ability is detective, it allows me to see the truth. Meaning I can also read minds." He looked at me, trying to get a read on my feelings.
Holy carp, he can read minds? I blushed, getting embarrassed. That's so embarrassing. He read all my thoughts up until now! I heard my loud heartbeat in my ears as I glared at this hero.
"I'm sorry for breaching your thoughts earlier." he looked down, avoiding my gaze.
"You should be! That's so embarrassing, don't you know a girl needs her privacy?! I can't believe you were just reading my mind like that! You must be some pervert of a Hero like Grape Juice or something!" I ranted; I can't believe he just read my mind. That's so embarrassing. What if I was thinking of going to the bathroom or something that would be even more embarrassing! Trying to calm myself down, I continued. "I-if you're still reading my mind stop."
"Alright, I wont read your mind anymore. Tell me why you want to be a hero?" He said, looking at my gold eyes.
Stunned, I just looked at him in silence. How'd he know- wait, he said he could read minds. And I kinda insinuated I wanted to be one. "Well, I want to help people that need it. Even if they don't think they do, it's something only a hero can do."
He looked down with a serious expression on his face. "Would you go to a hero school if someone paid for it for you?"
"Yes, I would." I said immediately, "If I had a sponsor like that, I would thank them profusely."
"What if your mother said you can't?"
"I would go anyway, you can't restrain me from saving lives, and she can't restrain me from living my dream." I said, feeling annoyed. "I will never let someone stop me from doing what I'm going to do."
He chuckled at my statement, "Alright, consider yourself a Hero highschooler." He stretched out his hand to me. I took his hand and shook it.
"Thank you so much Mr. Visible."
"It's no problem." He replied.
