Chapter 12: On the Radio

Greg

The flight time from Sydney, New South Wales to Melbourne, Victoria is about an hour and 23 minutes. On our last day in Sydney, we agreed that we'd take a late flight after the concert, sleep on the plane, and then sleep some more in our hotel in the early morning. That way, we'd have a "full" day for exploring Melbourne and our obligations on "Neighbours".

We spent the morning at a beach about 41 km away from the central business district, a nice spot called Palm Beach. As the oldest of the group, I made sure everyone had sunscreen. It was beautiful, with the trees, the waves coming in from the Pacific hitting the shore... and cameras. "Cut! Cut!" a man who I guessed was the director shouted from a distance. He came in wearing a T-shirt, khaki shorts, and regular beach ware. He approached me. "Look, mate, we're trying to tape a scene here, and we need a clear shot. Would you please move?" he asked. I looked around. "Oh? You're filming something here?" I replied. "Yes!" he answered emphatically.

Matt caught wind of this while he was rubbing his sunscreen on his arms. "Oh really? Excuse me, what are you filming?" he asked. The man recognized him. "Wait a minute... you're Matt Ishida, aren't you?" "Uh, yeah. This is Greg, and my brother T.K., and-" "Hey, you blokes! Look who we got here! The Teenage Wolves!" Just then, a whole group of cameramen, crew members, and actors approached us. I decided to go for it and prepared for an autograph session. "Who wants a free autograph?" I loudly asked with a smile. Apparently, everyone wanted one, including one actor I faintly recognized. "Hey, weren't you on 'Power Rangers'?" I asked him. "Had to kill my natural accent, but I was. My name's Dan Ewing." "I saw some clips of your season on YouTube. Nice to meet you. So, which show is this that you're doing now?" "'Home and Away'," the director answered.

"'Home and Away'? Hmm... Our manager said that we'd be taping some scenes next week for 'Neighbours'," Matt said. That sparked some interest from the crowd. "Well, how do you like that? We come on half an hour after them, and on a different network too," the director told us. It turned out that "Home and Away" and "Neighbours" had a friendly rivalry and were launched in the same decade three years apart. The former was on Seven, and the latter was on Eleven, which was a digital spinoff channel of Ten.

We spent the rest of the morning and some of the afternoon hanging out with the actors and the crew. Thomas got a chance to network, and we shot some scenes for the show. Thomas directed the director, David Gould, to speak with Kazuki. After about half an hour talking with him, Mr. Gould gave us some good news and bad news. "The good news is that you can shoot the scenes. The bad news is that you'll have to be uncredited, because Fremantle called you first. You're OK with that, right?" We thought about it. "Sure!" Kari cheerfully agreed. So, we got all the paperwork signed and then shot some more scenes. I got to work with an actress named Kelly Paterniti, who played Tamara. Apparently, I was a foreigner trying to hit on her. Her boyfriend, Kyle, came in and got me engaged in a sandfight. I lost and ended up in the water. In another scene, we got split into tables and were served at a beach club.

We had to break at 2:00 so we could make it back in time for the concert, but the cast and crew begged us for a song before we left. So, we did a quick impromptu acapella version of "I Turn Around" which they really liked. Mr. Gould told us that some of our scenes would appear in episode numbers 5682 and 5683, and that he wouldn't call Seven to warn them.

After the concert that night, we quickly made our way to the airport and boarded another Dassault Falcon 5X. Gaomon and Veemon agreed to keep watch for enemy Digimon while T.K. and I did some musical research on the theme song. We happened to find the lyrics and an audio file of the Robertson Brothers' 2000 arrangement. "Want to join us, Matt?" T.K. offered. His brother violently shook his head. "Uh uh, I'm not getting involved in anything that even remotely looks like a boy band. Forget it, man." Marcus threw in his two cents. "Uh, no. No way, absolutely not. I'm not a trained monkey." That left one other male, and his name was Thomas H. Norstein. "We'll do two more Project covers on an EP," I said, tempting him. The Austrian blonde sighed, and relented. We spent most of the flight listening to it, putting the notes down, and then rehearsing it. As annoying as Kazuki was, he managed to get us into some pretty sweet hotels. This one was The Westin Melbourne, and boy was it swanky!

The next morning at breakfast, we discovered that Kari wasn't eating much. She only had a bowl of cereal. "What's wrong, Kari?" T.K. wondered as he dug into his brioche French toast. "Oh, nothing really. I guess I'm just not that hungry." Thomas hinted, "It could be related to her... um hmm..." Matt and I quickly nodded and then left it at that.

We rode in another limo to the FremantleMedia Australia offices and quickly met with Richard Jasek, "Neighbours"' executive producer. "So you honestly didn't know they were taping 'H&A' there?" he inquired. "No, sir. We didn't, but boy were we surprised," T.K. answered. "Yeah, especially when I ran into Dan Ewing," I added. "I know, a number of actors from 'Power Rangers' start either at 'H&A' or 'Shortland Street' in Auckland. Although we did get one from this show. Anyway, here's how we're going to incorporate you. The high school is having a dance, and one of the teen characters, Bailey, a right nerd, is trying to become impress a girl. So, he promises to deliver one of the hottest acts in Australia to perform at the dance. This act being yourselves. You have pity on the boy and agree to play at the dance."

Kazuki cut in. "Whoa, whoa, cool it, man. Are you saying my band falls in on this hootenanny because we feel sorry for the kid? That's like, plastic, man. I mean, unrealistic, you dig? If this were to actually happen in real life, we'd have to hit the kid up for some serious bread." "Did I mention he found $10,000 in his best friend's mum's car?" Mr. Jasek added. That caught our manager's interest. "No. Wail on." "Well, following a warehouse robbery involving Robbo and Mason, which had landed Mason in juvenile detention and had been the reason why he'd arrived in town later than the rest of his family, Bailey had found a roll of notes, containing $10,000 in the back of their mum's car, and now he was certain that Robbo had come looking for it. Later, he told Mason and the brothers jumped the fence, but were caught by Sheila. She quickly realized what they were looking for, having found the money herself, and they lied to her that it belonged to Lou, as he had recently started working as an escort again. Sheila believed their story and gave the money back to Lou, who was shocked to find out what his grandsons had been keeping from the rest of the family. So, Lou put it in a vault for safekeeping. Only thing is, Bailey and Mason figured out how to break into the vault, and this is the money they're using to pay you off with." "So, we're taking dirty bread, eh? Far out. You've really noodled it out, man. But wait, won't we have to report it to the fuzz?" "Oh, yes. Once Bailey confesses, we'll track you down and shoot a quick scene in a police station. We'll arrest the boy." Kari groaned, "Awww, the poor kid." "Don't worry, his mum and dad will bail him out and give him one for. He'll be right." "Oh good." "So, what song have you guys chosen? I trust it'll be one of your recent hits."

I offered my suggestion. "Actually, T.K., Thomas, and I have been doing some research and we've been wondering if we could use the 'Home and Away' theme." Mr. Jasek's eyes glazed over. "You want to perform the theme song to another network's programme on our programme?" I started to lose confidence in my own idea. "Are you a bloody moron?" he asked, trying not to lose his temper. I just nodded. "Of course you are! The answer is no!"

T.K.

Matt had to step in. "Mr. Jasek, I don't appreciate you calling a member of my band a bloody moron. True, his idea might not be so good, but you shouldn't call him that. Now, how many songs will you need?" "Two. One a regular dance song, and the other a slow dance." "'Run Around' and 'To the Moon and Back'," my spiky-haired brother decided. "That would be great."

One thing Kari, Matt, and I are good at is working under pressure. It must've come from fighting all those enemy Digimon. So, the three of us wrangled the group together and we practiced. We had to push soundchecks and exploring to the side so we could make this performance count. After three hours of rehearsals, we were ready to tape. The scenes looked like a typical high school dance, with all the extras and the actors there. We got along with everyone just fine and had a good time. As far as we knew, we'd be just the thing Eleven needed for their sweeps week.

After we filled out all the paperwork, we rushed to the Westpac Centre and did soundchecks and rehearsals. While we were working on "To the Moon and Back", Kazuki violently waved his hands and crossed his finger along his throat. So, we stopped. "All right, what is it now?" Marcus demanded to know. "One of you cats is really a birdie, and you've been tweeting your head off about 'Home and Away'! We've been leaked!" Thomas started thinking. "Hmm... the only person who regularly tweets all the time is... Greg!" He pointed a finger at Greg, who started whistling nervously and tuning his guitar.

"Eh... heh heh heh... yeah, I did it," Greg confessed, "I got excited about us being on TV. All I said was that we got the surprise of our lives on the set of H&A." "The specific tweet?" "From gregLWolf 'Complete surprise: we're taping scenes 4 HomeandAwayTV and neighbours in same week. Had no idea! #TeenageWolves'." Rika facepalmed. "Greg! Don't you know that tweets can be seen by anyone? Great, now the whole world knows we're playing the system!" she griped. "Honestly, I didn't think it was a big deal." "We're celebrities now. We've got three hundred thousand followers!" Then, she walked over to Greg and held out her hand. "The phone, now!" she demanded. "Uh uh! I've got the right to free speech." "Not when you're famous!" The two started fighting over the phone, and Matt ended up taking it.

"Okay, that's enough! I'm writing a tweet now to our fans just so we can make the most of a bad situation. Greg, you're losing your Twitter privileges for a week." "You're not my dad!" he protested. "All right, let me put it to you this way. I'm obviously smarter than you in matters like this. Next time, you go to T.K., Kazuki, or me before you start tweeting things about the band. Got that?" Greg just glared at him. "Yeah, I guess."

We finished rehearsals at 8:00 that night when we got another surprise from our manager. Thanks to Greg's tweet, we really became hot property. Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O, hosts of "the country's most popular radio program", were going to call us from Sydney at 6:30 the next morning. Thomas did some research on him. "Hmm... according to this Wikipedia page, it seems Mr. Sandilands has a big mouth and doesn't know when to shut it. It sounds like someone I know," he reported. Marcus stuck out his tongue. Thomas went on, "He has become known for controversial on-air stunts as well as derogatory, sexist and offensive comments. He's a shock jock who is likely to tear into us all." "Looks like we're all gonna face the music," Marcus grumbled.

At 6:30 the next morning, we tune in to 2Day 104.1 MHz in Sydney, where Kyle and Jackie O are on the air. Kyle is first. "And if you picked now to listen in, you picked a great time because we've got The Teenage Wolves on the line all the way from Melbourne!" The other staff members start howling. "We've got them all. The lead Matt, the heartthrob T.K., his main squeeze Kari, the tough-as-nails Rika, a mate after my own heart Marcus, the intelligent Thomas, and wild card Greg. Hey, guys!" The band adlibs a "hello". "So, let's get down to business. Wolfmania is sweeping the nation. The group just finished five nights in Sydney, and we forgot to interview them!" Jackie O laments. The staff members let out a united "awwww".

"But, that's why we're doing it now! So, let's get started with the leader. Hi, Matt." "G'day, Jackie O," Matt answers. "So, you've been quite busy. I've heard through the grapevine that you and your brother hadn't been getting on too well." "Yeah, but we've resolved that. You know, fame does a lot of things to people, and I'm trying not to let it get the best of us." "Oh, that's good."

"Especially when we consider your backgrounds. You and your brother are pretty close, aren't you?" Kyle cuts in. "Yeah, but we would like to be closer." "That's why you invited him to join the band, because your parents got split up. At least, that's what your page says." "And you'd know something about that, wouldn't you, Kyle?" Jackie O lets out an "oooooh". "Now you're fighting dirty," she squawks. "You bet I'd know something about that, but this isn't about me. This is about you. I heard you once got into a fight with your old man, he posted a YouTube video, and really let you have it." Matt gets defensive. "Well at least my dad didn't kick me out of the house the same way your mom did." Jackie O lets out another "oooooooh." "You think you're smart, don't you, boy? You honestly believe that you're trying to outplay me? Well, you are sadly mistaken."

Jackie O tries to salvage this by moving onto T.K. "It's all right, love, just take your medication. ….So, T.K., you've recently released a video on YouTube of yourself singing 'Foolish Games', and your brother didn't take it too well." T.K. takes the receiver, but Marcus takes it from him. And is he mad! "You just heard the man, he said he didn't want to talk about it! He and Matt are doing just fine, and if you even think about mentioning it again, then I'm hanging up!" "I wouldn't do that if I were you. You're on the country's most popular radio show, and you're building quite a reputation for yourself," Jackie O warns him. "Let them talk! Our music should be doing the talking for us. I usually don't mind the press, but I'm turned off by people like you and Kyle. Besides, I know why you're really here. You want to talk to Greg about that stupid tweet of his, aren't you?" "Well, we were going to get to that," Kyle says. "Then talk to him!"

Marcus passes the phone to Greg. "Uh..." Kyle makes an attempt to welcome him. "Hello, Greg. Welcome to the Kyle and Jackie O Show." "Actually, I don't want to talk to you. We've been looking you up on Wikipedia, and personally, you disgust me." "Oh, I do, do I? First off, you shouldn't believe everything you read on that page. And second... and second, you know what disgusts me? People who think they can play the game better than I can. I tell it like it is, something your mate Marcus knows how to do. I know I've had a difficult childhood. Most of the country knows that, too. But what I find interesting is that a majority of the band members come from broken homes, so we've got something in common." "...Yeah, about that. My parents have been happily married for 22 years. The ones you'd want to talk to are Matt, T.K., Thomas, and Rika. Now I'm not going to hang up the phone like Marcus said he would, but I will tell you this. In hindsight, what I did was not smart. I underestimated Twitter, I made a mistake, and probably annoyed people at both Seven and Eleven. We're not from around here, we didn't know 'Home and Away' taped their exterior shots at Palm Beach. We're from Japan, for cryin' out loud, so cut us some slack! The 'Home and Away' cast and crew were some of the nicest people in show business I've ever run into. So were the people at 'Neighbours'." "I know, I know," Kyle interrupts. "I'm proud to say that we'll be able to be seen on both shows, because they're both great Aussie soaps. All I can say to what I did is 'oops', and 'I'm sorry'. We'll be at Westpac Centre tonight and tomorrow night, then we play at Dreamworld the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. That means you'll have to buy both a ticket to Dreamworld and a concert ticket." "I know, I know. It's just like when we hosted Big Brother." "Yeah, and it sucks. I mean, if it were my band, I'd like to just include the concert in admission, but the way the park has it arranged, it's just not gonna happen." "But you like getting the money from it, don't you?" "Eh, we get some money, but most of it goes to the label. Thomas gets a bigger cut because he produced the album, and the rest of us get our cuts. But we get to go all over the world." "Oh really, where are you going?" "I'd prefer to tell Jackie O if you don't mind. What I will say is that if you're a 'Home and Away' fan, you'll like what we're adding to the setlist tonight!" But Marcus grabs the phone. "None of your business where we're going! It's all on the website! Teenagewolves DOT com SLASH tour!" he barks. He passes the phone to Thomas.

"Hello, Mr. Sandilands and Ms. Henderson. Please forgive Marcus' rudeness, he's really heated up about this." "I can understand why," Jackie O says. Thomas then proceeds to calmly anticipate and answer every question the two radio hosts would likely ask, and even some that they wouldn't. "Now, I will give you what I believe to be our official statement on this matter. Greg has apologized on your radio show. Now, supposedly the entire country knows. We have spoken to Seven and Eleven who will allow it. It was a great honor and privilege to be able to appear on both soap operas. I am fluent in 170 languages, the group is fluent in both English and Japanese. Greg was born in the United States, but considers himself a Japanese person. Melbourne is fine, the weather is lovely. T.K. and Kari are just approaching the couple status, and have not engaged in sexual intercourse, nor do they plan to in the near future. T.K.'s initials are short for his first name Takeru and he has taken on his mother's maiden surname out of loyalty to her. We'd gladly come back to Australia, and yes, our blonde hair is completely natural. The Breakfast Club order by actor is thus: Marcus as Judd Nelson, Matt and T.K. as Emilio Estevez, Greg and myself as Anthony Michael Hall, Rika as Ally Sheedy, and Kari as Molly Ringwald. Thank you, and stay classy, Australia. You can start by not listening to this garbage." Then, he hangs up.

"Damn," Kyle remarks, taken aback. "He really let you have it," Jackie O comments. "He did, but I'm not going to let him get away with it. We're going to have them back. You mark my words, we'll have them back. But for now, let's check the weather and traffic together."

Kari

"Thomas?" I asked. "Yes, Kari?" "Why didn't you let Rika or me talk?" "Because I didn't want you to get torn apart by those two." "I could've taken him," I gently countered. Rika just nodded and put her hand on my shoulder. "Yeah, we know. I guess Thomas just wanted to save you some trouble." Marcus punched his fist into his palm. "I'll show him. What's he look like? I'm gonna tear into him!" he threatened.

Greg looked it up on his laptop. "He's a big fat man with a beard, but he's clear up in Sydney. It wouldn't be worth it, Marcus." "Yeah, Marcus. We should be nice to the media. After all, we wouldn't want you to get arrested," I added. "Eh, you're probably right. I'd still like to punch him in the jaw, though. Maybe then he wouldn't be able to open his big mouth."

Greg

A few hours later, we managed to find a copy of our "interview" with Kyle and Jackie O on YouTube. I posted the link on our Facebook page and wrote, "And that's why you don't mess with the Wolves. Once you mess with one, you get shut down by the rest. :) - Greg" I had to open a separate Facebook account for my fan page, but I entered in this comment using the Teenage Wolves fan page account.

We spent a few hours going over the setlist and working with PurityxSpirited. I told them about our interview. "I was listening this morning. Kyle and Jackie O are big bullies!" Lily exclaimed. Charisse chimed in, "Yeah, what you did by shutting them down was awesome, Thomas. I gotta give you props for that." Thomas let out a half-grin. "Thanks, Charisse. I know Matt would've done the same," he said. "You're incorrigible," Matt joked.

That night, the concert was amazing. All 5,500 seats were filled. We decided to bring in "Home and Away" right after "Prime Time". T.K. started by addressing the audience. "All right, guys. That was great. Now, normally, we'd break into 'Run Around'..." He paused so the audience could cheer. "But first, we've got a little surprise for you. Last Friday, we had a few hours to kill before we needed to do soundchecks, so we decided we'd go to the beach. It was about 41 kilometers away from Sydney's central business district, a nice little spot called... wait for it... Palm Beach." The audience went crazy. "And we ran into cameras and ended up shooting scenes for 'Home and Away'." The audience screamed some more. "So you'll be seeing those episodes very soon. Now, at the time, Seven had no idea we'd also be shooting scenes for 'Neighbours'. So, we worked everything out, and now you'll be able to see us on both shows." The teenage girls screamed in delight. "And that leads to our next song. For this, I think I'll let Sadie and Naomi take over for Greg and Thomas. Come on out, ladies!" I passed my guitar to Sadie as she came out, and Thomas graciously allowed Naomi to take his spot as he and I walked up toward the front. T.K. put away his guitar and passed out headset mics. I installed mine in my ear and adjusted it. "Just a heads up, we promised Kyle and Jackie O we'd do this," I quipped. "Yeah, Matt's... not going to touch this with a ten-foot-pole, are ya, Matt?" T.K. teased. Matt put up his hands in a "no way" pose, and his brother laughed. "That's OK. You just stay there and play bass, alright?" Matt gave a thumbs up. "Good. Anyway, if you know the lyrics, and I'm sure you do, then sing along. You guys ready?" Thomas and I gave the thumbs up as we got in position. The audience cheered as the song started.

["Home and Away"

Written by Mike Perjanik

Performed by The Teenage Wolves

Vocals: Takeru "T.K." Takaishi (Michael Cunio), Greg Logan (Doug Erholtz), Thomas H. Norstein (Crispin Freeman)]

T.K., Greg, and Thomas start tearing up the floor in what looks like synchronized boy band-esque movements, much to the audience's surprised pleasure and Matt's extreme chagrin. The arrangement is similar to the one used for The Robertson Brothers in 2000, but the instumentation is a bit more alternative and up-to-date.

T.K.:

You know we belong together

You and I forever and ever

No matter where you are

You're my guiding star

T.K./Thomas:

And from the very first moment I saw you

T.K:

I've never felt such emotion

I'm walking on air

Just to know (Greg/Thomas: Just to know)

You are there

Greg/Thomas/T.K.:

Hold me in your arms

Don't let me go

T.K.:

I want to stay forever

Closer each day (Greg/Thomas: Closer each day)

Greg/Thomas/T.K.:

Home and away

Let me be the one that you turn to

T.K.:

Someone you can rely on

Closer each day (Greg/Thomas: Closer each day)

Greg/Thomas/T.K.:

Home and away

The three boys separate as they go up to the front of the stage, high fiving and grasping hands with the lucky girls up in the front row. Greg takes over for part of this verse.

Greg:

You know we belong together

You and I forever and ever

Until the end of time (T.K./Thomas: Until the end of time)

I'm yours and you are mine

Greg tosses it back to T.K., who looks quite enthusiastic about it.

T.K.:

Ooh I couldn't spend another minute

Greg/Thomas/T.K.:

Living my life

T.K.:

Without you in it

It's suddenly clear

I will always (Greg/Thomas: I will always) need you here

The group returns to the heavily improvised boy band choreography.

Greg/Thomas/T.K.:

Hold me in your arms

Don't let me go

T.K.:

I want to stay forever

Closer each day (Greg/Thomas: Closer each day)

Greg/Thomas/T.K.:

Home and away

Let me be the one that you turn to

Someone you can rely on

T.K.:

Closer each day (Greg/Thomas: Closer each day)

Greg/Thomas/T.K.:

Home and away

Hold me in your arms

Don't let me go

T.K.:

I want to stay forever

Thomas:

Greg:

Closer each day

Greg/Thomas/T.K.:

Greg/T.K.:

Ooooh baby

Greg/Thomas/T.K.:

Let me be the one that you turn to

Someone you can rely on

T.K.:

Closer each day (Greg/Thomas: Closer each day)

Greg/Thomas/T.K.:

Home and away

As the trio makes one more "reaching out hand thrust", the girls in the audience scream their heads off.

Matt

When we got back to the hotel, I let T.K. and Greg know what I really thought of their little sideshow. "Now, you guys know that I didn't like it. That's not what The Teenage Wolves is about," I started. "We know," T.K. said, trying to anticipate what was next. "But I'll keep it in the show only in stops where the show is playing. And if the powers that be want a studio version of it, you'll have to use Sadie and Naomi. Understand?" T.K. just beamed and gave off a look that was sheer gratitude. "Thanks a lot, Matt." "You're welcome."

Later, in my room, I let Gabumon out. "Now that wasn't so bad. And T.K.'s so happy, too," he said cheerfully. I let out a soft snort. "Yeah." He came up and nudged me in the chest. "Cheer up, Matt. Your face is still on the album cover. Nobody'll think any worse of you for what you did." "Heh, I can just imagine Kyle and Jackie O ranting about us tomorrow, calling us 'sellouts for Seven'." "I don't think you're a sellout." I just tussled the fur on Gabumon's head and smiled. "Yeah, you're right. Who needs those two anyway? Your opinion's the only one that really matters, Gabumon." "Awwww..."

T.K.

I let Patamon out of his Digivice, and he flew around the room. "So, what'd you think of our little number tonight, Patamon?" I asked him. "I thought it was great! You really do look like a member of a boy band," he said. "Thanks. I'm just worried about Matt. I mean, I know the girls like me, but this is Matt's band. It's not my fault I have a lot of fangirls." "But all those girls don't mean a thing compared to Kari, right?" "Right. That's why I've got to be more careful. I've got to watch out for her. We just had a Digimon attack in Sydney, and I think it'll be our turn to fight next." "But we'll be ready for them!" "Yeah!"

Author's Notes:

Yes, I know the situation with "Home and Away" and "Neighbours" sounds very unrealistic. I've done as much research as I could on the situation. I went to both Perfect Blend and Back to the Bay, fan websites of the two shows.

Just to give you an idea of how controversial Kyle Sandilands is (in case you've never heard of him before): In August 2009, Kyle and Jackie O were suspended following a segment in which they put a 14-year-old girl on a lie-detector and then asked her about her sexual history. Following this incident, a full-time censor was brought on board. Despite the suspension, Kyle and Jackie O maintained their number-one position in the market, and the show actually grew .6 percentage points. In September 2009, he apologised after making an on-air remark about how actor Magda Szubanski could lose a lot more weight if she had spent time in a concentration camp. Although Szubanski indicated that it was a "beat up" and that she "couldn't care less," Sandilands was still suspended. In August 2011, he faced criticism from the Indian community over comments he made on the show about the cleanliness of the Ganges River. The Universal Society of Hinduism later admitted that there was no malice behind his comments and accepted his reasoning. The closest equivalent to him in the United States is Howard Stern, or maybe Opie and Anthony.

I actually tried listening to a broadcast of their show, and it really didn't do too much for me. Only reason I kept listening to it was so that I could properly write for him for this fanfic. However, I have been doing my research on him. When I want to be accurate, I will put the work in.

The arrangement used for the "boy band" performance is actually based on the extended variation used by The Robertson Brothers in 2000. It was never used on the actual show. And while you might not consider Michael Cunio, Doug Erholtz, and Crispin Freeman to be a vocal powerhouse trio... just go with it. If you're really that concerned, then by all means substitute whomever you like.
