Alexa POV
I kissed Seth, it was unbelievable. We... I shook my head, to clear my crowded thoughts. People had been running out of the hospital, I didn't know why. I got my gun and loaded it, keeping it in my hand. With the other hand I opened the door and silently jumped out, making my way along in the darkness to the light of the hospital. I noticed something was wrong instantly, for a start, I was being followed.
The only thing that changed about my posture then was my grip on the hilt of my gun. I was used to being tailed, I was the Tail Catcher. Whoever it was had given up being cautious and was now just walking behind me. I could hear his foot steps echo. There was a lamp post a head of me, about 14 paces from where I was. Easy enough. I counted down slowly as I walked. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... All of a sudden I grabbed the main body of the post, letting my momentum swing me around, kicking my follower in the back of the head. He rolled forward, gun flying from his hand as he fell.
I ran forward, kicking him flat in the back. "Nice try." I grabbed his gun and aimed it at his head.
"Huh." He spat out blood.
"Look," I checked the ammo, full. "I've had a really bad day, you know?" I kicked his in the side of the head, making him roll over and groan. "So you're going to tell me what's happened to my friends or I'm going to blow your brains out over this car park. You get what I'm saying?" I tried to sound intimidating, the look on his face told me it worked.
"Easy." He raised his hands above his head. "Ain't nobody gotta shoot anybody."
"Didn't you learn to speak English?" I asked, smirking at him, he was wearing a ragged top and jeans with dozens of holes. Was he even the Circle?
"I just wanted yo cash is all." He complained. "I don't know what you mean about them mates of yours." I rolled my eyes and lowered the gun.
"Scram. Beat it. Get out of here." I demanded fiercely. He backed away, hands up, till he turned and ran off. I heaved a heavy sigh. My life sucked.
I turned back to the hospital, but something didn't add up, about the homeless man. I looked at the gun, checking for any make or markings. Nothing, so I tipped out the bullets and examined each and ever one. Standard, although... I compared it with mine, they were the same. Only I got mine off a Circle member I shot. Damn. Now I was running to the hospital, imagining the man laughing at me from afar. I was stupid, careless and far too tired for this kind of field work.
Sometimes I really did hate being me.
I saw the fight that was going on before I even opened the main door. Drawing my gun I quickly crept forward, aiming at the man trying to shoot Seth, Macey was there too, somehow. I couldn't see the others although it did look like Zach lying on the floor. The door cracked open slowly, I didn't want to be noticed. The gun was still pointed up at my target, but he kept moving, putting Seth in the line of fire. I cursed and tried to get a better shot, but I couldn't. So, with a sigh. I pushed the door open and aimed for the mans leg. Hit.
Let the fight begin.
A blonde man was coming towards me, he didn't have a gun, just a bleeding face and a limp. I dropped to my knees and slid my foot under him, tripping him up. As the was falling I smashed the back of my gun into the soft part at the back of his head, he was out cold, for now.
The next man to come at me was a black haired man, with a gun. I rolled to my feet, looking back at the smoking hole he'd shot where my head had been. They definitely wanted to kill us, no doubt. I took a few blind shots at him while I moved away from his bullets. None of them hit their mark, from either of us.
"Just give up!" He shouted, I ran further down the hall way, sliding on blood, I crashed into the end wall of the deserted bottom floor and turned around to face the man attacking me. He spat blood in my face.
"No escape little girl." He sneered.
"Really?" I kneed him in the crotch, then I head butted him as he fell. Simple. With a stamp on his leg, I ran back to help the others, Macey had beaten a brown haired man and I watched as Seth elbowed the last man in the nose. All down, there was only 4. Seth smiled when he saw me.
"Alexa." He breathed. "I thought they..." I shook my head, it had all been too easy.
"No, but something isn't right. Where's Liz, Cammie, Anna and Townsend?" I asked.
"This was a diversion." Macey said, "but Anna and Townsend are okay, I bumped into them on the way in to the building, they're waiting for us by the van." I swore.
"I was just at the van, there was a man from the Circle outside, more that one at my guess, they'll be caught." I told her in a hurry.
"What about Cammie?" Zach moaned and stretched up from the floor, cracking and clicking his neck and back. "We have to get her."
"If they haven't already." Seth added mournfully.
"We have to go check." Zach argued.
"Better hurry then." Macey reloaded her gun and headed for the stairs.
"Lead the way Zach." I told him, wiping my shoes to get off the blood I slipped on. "Whose is this?" I pointed at my shoes and floor. Seth smirked.
"Blonde boy took a slip on his face." He told me, smiling even more. Zach started up the stairs but clutched his stomach and slipped. Seth caught him around the waist and held him up again the wall.
"You okay?" He asked. Zach nodded and vomited on the floor.
"I'm, good." He nodded, wiping his mouth with the back of his hands.
"Good." I nodded, "then let's go get Cammie."
