Chapter 8-Trolling around
Hey guys, so I'm back! I know it's been about 5 months, I have had a really tough time of it recently but it seems to be getting better so I'm starting again on this lovely Merlin story. Also check out my profile for some Merthur stuff plus Doctor Who and Sherlock mad stories. I don't own Merlin, but Elizabeth, Laudine and Kay are all my characters, enjoy!
"She's very brave," Arthur observed when we had been excused from the council chambers. It seemed like the first time I had talked to him in weeks.
"Mmm, yeah," I nodded as we walked along reaching out to take his hand in mine without really noticing I was doing it.
Arthur smiled at me before speaking again, "And it's nice she'll be at the wedding."
"She'll be around for longer than that," I laughed lightly. Arthur looked at me in confusion, "She wants your father Arthur," I stated rolling my eyes, "Honestly men are completely oblivious."
"I guess I just never thought…" Arthur trailed off.
I pushed against his shoulder lightly, "She needs a new Kingdom now that hers has been taken," I explained, "If there is one thing us princesses are good at its surviving."
Arthur paused for a moment looking at me seriously, "Is that what you're doing?"
"No, I love you. That's why I'm marrying you idiot," I smiled at him.
Arthur just rolled his eyes, "You have been spending too much time with merlin."
"No I just know I could do better," I smirked back sticking my tongue out in a childish manner, "Now I have to go and get ready, I believe we're getting married in two days!"
"So we are," Arthur laughed before kissing me lightly on the lips, "Have a good day my Lady."
The rest of the evening passed by in a rush of dresses and madness and before long I was sat in the dining chamber with the Pendragon's and Catrina, "Well, this is wonderful. Thank you," Catrina complimented.
Uther smiled at her, "It's an honour. The Houses of Tregor and Pendragon have been allies for as...well, as long as anyone can remember."
"My father often spoke of you My Lord," Catrina replied with a smile.
Arthur looked up from the meal, "I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to meet him."
"I'm sorry too, for the House of Tregor is no more," Catrina said in one of the most dramatic acts I had seen in a long time.
"I'm sure it lives on in you," I informed her kindly.
"I only wish that was true," Catrina smiled at me, something about it seemed off.
"It is, My Lady. Your courage, your modesty. And you are as you always were, ever since you were a child," Uther said softly.
Catrina stared deep into his eyes, "Ah, I fear I am much changed since then, my Lord."
Uther reached his hand across gently touching hers, "Oh, yes, it's true. You are far more beautiful now."
I covered up my laugh as a fake yawn wanting to get away from the terrible flirting, "I apologize, it has been a busy day with all the wedding plans. If I can be excused."
"Of course," Catrina said her eyes not leaving Uther's.
I elbowed Arthur who looked up at me in surprise before I nodded towards the door, "Me too."
"I should retire myself," Morgana agreed with us.
We all quickly walked out of the room before something else could happen. Once the doors were closed it only took a quick look at Morgana before I couldn't hold it in anymore the three of us fell against the walls laughing quietly as we did, "Well that was flirting," I just about managed to say in between giggles.
Morgana nodded along with me, "It looks like you're getting a new mother Arthur."
Before Arthur could respond Laudine came running up the hallway towards me, "My Lady you are needed."
"This wedding preparation never seems to end," I sighed heavily before kissing Arthur on the cheek and following Laudine, "This isn't wedding stuff is it?"
"No, Gaius and Merlin wants to see you," Laudine told me quietly as we made our ways down the corridors.
Once we reached Gaius's chambers I entered quickly to see Merlin and Gaius standing at separate ends of the room, "Is something wrong?"
"Catrina isn't who she says she is," Gaius informed me.
"What do you mean?" I asked coming to sit between the two men.
"I treated her as a child, she had an incurable disease that affected her joints, she had difficultly walking and riding…" Gaius began to explain.
"And she walks fine now," I finished for him, "That's not good at all. Uther and her, they're getting close."
"We need to know for sure," Merlin spoke for the first time.
"Then we go into the room and find out ourselves. Catrina is still at dinner with Uther we have about another hour I think before they're finished," I told them before beginning to walk towards the door only turning when I reached it, "Merlin you coming?"
Merlin nodded before running up to the door and we sneaked through the castle before we could open the door Jonas was in front of us, "Can I help you My Lady?"
"I was just sending Merlin here to collect the sheets from Catrina's room, wouldn't want them to be dirty would we?" I smiled at him, coming up with an excuse on the spot.
Jonas nodded his head and let us into the bedroom where Merlin quickly did the sheets as I stood there, "All done. Thank you," Merlin said quietly.
We began walking out of the room before Jonas called us back, "Arent you forgetting something?" he asked us before turning around it was then that I saw it. A green forked tail, I stifled a gasp as Jonas turned back with the laundry basket.
"Of course how stupid Merlin," I said simply with a roll of my eyes playing the part of a Princess.
We quickly ran back to Gaius's chamber shutting the door behind us, "Did you see that?" Merlin asked me immediately.
"I think I did," I replied shakily.
"What is it?" Laudine asked us.
"It was strange the room smelt funny, and the bed hadnt been slept in," Merlin told them.
"And Jonas has a green fork tail," I finished for him.
"Isn't it a bit strange how quickly they got together?" Merlin asked aiming the question at me as the other two got over their shock.
"No, most marriages in Royalty happen within a month. Uther is powerful and wealthy, it's impressive he has remained unmarried for as long as he has," I explained, "My father remarried within a year of my mother's death. It was required."
"There isn't anything else we can do tonight," Laudine said quickly looking at me, "You need to be ready for the wedding My Lady."
Okay I apologise for the shortness of this chapter but I'm trying to get back into writing after what feels like forever. I hope to get another chapter done before Christmas and then I should be able to publish a chapter a week. Please review.
Until next time
