A/N: Someone has requested more Zammie, so here you go!
Cammie POV
I woke up an hour later, blinking back sleep. Zach was still driving, trying not too show how tired he was, but the events of all that had happened over the past few days was taking its toll. I lent over and kissed him on the cheek, "you need to swap with someone Zach." I told him.
He scrunched his eyes momentarily, then looked at me. "No can do Gallagher Girl." He tried to grin.
"Zach." I said.
"Cammie." He said, gripping the wheel tighter. "We only have about an hour till we get there. I'll manage." He sounded so beat up that it hurt me. He didn't want to appear weak, ever.
"It's okay, Alexa could drive." I suggest, making him laugh. I feel a playful elbow in my side. Alexa. "Hey!" I protest. "My shoulder still isn't right!" Alexa shrugged.
"Sure, I could drive." She said. Zach took a deep breath.
"Okay, but we'd have to quickly pull over." He said at last.
"Thank god!" Was that Seth? He pounded on the back. "We all need the toilet back here."
"Yep!" Bex and Macey chimed in. The car slowed down as we pulled into the side. I smiled and got out the car after Alexa, heading for the bushes to the side. I didn't need to go but I went quickly anyway. Then I took a quick look around, keeping the van in sight. Nothing was out of the ordinary, there was nothing to hint at any Circle members or our friends having been by.
Just before I left the area I saw Zach coming towards me. "Hey." He said, yawning.
"How are you feeling?" I asked, putting my arm around his neck.
"Tired." Zach admitted and kissed me on the nose. I kissed him on the lips, we stood there for a moment. Wrapped in each others warm arms, it was easy to forget about everything else but us. But eventually Zach pulled back, "we have to hit the road if we want to get there within the hour." He sounded regretful, I knew the feeling.
"Sure." I sighed. Once in the van I saw Alexa was already in the drivers seat, talking in whispers to Seth who was stood just outside the door, the shared a smile. I shuffled in next to her and Seth quickly went back into the back of the van.
That was odd. I wondered... But there wasn't anytime to think about that, Alexa started the engines just as Zach shut his door, we were driving again in no time.
It seemed like forever before I felt Zach drift off next to me, but we must have only been driving for 15 minutes max. That's when I nudged Alexa. "What were you saying to Seth earlier?" I asked. She seemed to consider telling me.
"It was nothing." She said at last. I didn't by it.
"I haven't known you for long but I can already tell when you're lying. What's going on with you two?" I tried again, Alexa bit her lip.
"It's nothing, I think. Really." But there was something in her voice. Something that said other wise...
"You look exactly like I did when I tried to hide me and Zach, guilty." I pin pointed.
"No!" She whisper-shouted. "This is nothing like you and Zach, it was one stupid kiss." My eyes went wide.
"When? Where?" I asked. She laughed at me.
"Is this really the time to be asking silly things like that? We're wanted people you know. This is hardly the time or place." Alexa argued, turning right up a head, taking us off the motor way and onto a slightly less busy road.
"That is my point, we need some normality now. So spill." I demanded with a grin. She stopped at a red light and looked over to me.
"Fine." I clapped quietly. "It was when we were in the van by the hospital, just after Townsend went in to get the others. It wasn't that exciting really, it was just a kiss." She protested.
"Just a kiss?!" I laughed. "No, it's adorable." I could tell that Alexa didn't think so, but why not? Seth reminded me of Zach, they were practically the same.
"I don't know. I mean..." Alexa started, I wondered what she was thinking.
"Look, you don't need to marry the guy, but you do like him. I can tell." I said firmly, wondering if they could hear our conversation in the back. Probably. Alexa drove past a few houses and down into a forest like path that made the van go bump. She cringed.
"This road it awful." She said, changing the subject.
"Are you sure this is the way?" I asked, it had been a while since I'd been here either.
"Positive, I am his daughter you know." She said matter-of-factly. Although Alexa and Joe looked nothing alike they shared the same secretive personality. Zach woke up as we hit the next bump in the road, causing Alexa to curse.
"Wow, where are we?" Zach blinked away sleep.
"Nearly there." I told him. Alexa turned another corner onto a worse road.
"We'll be there in 5 minutes, I promise." She said, grimacing at each bump in the road. "If we don't get a flat tire first." She added grimly. I looked at Zach, he was staring dead a head.
"What is it?" I asked him. He shrugged and wiped his face with both his hands.
"Nothing, I just, don't you think that this was too easy?" He said.
"No." Me and Alexa said, "this was not exactly very easy Zach, weren't you at the school, not to mention the hospital?" I finished. Zach inhaled.
"Not that, I meant getting here, it seems way to simple." He sighed.
"Be thankful." Bex said from the back. "I am getting far too tired of fighting."
"Amen to that." Seth cheered. I saw Zach role his eyes, he still didn't trust Seth. But I couldn't understand why, hadn't he proven himself yet. I guessed the rest of us had, just not him.
"Still..." His voice trailed off as we pulled up next to the house.
