Alexa POV
Okay, so I was only 45% sure that this would work, but what other choice did I have? This was the only plan we had. The clock hand rolled slowly onto 8. I looked down at my clothes, they would do for fighting I figured. At around 6 am I noticed a safe hidden underneath a creaking floor board, filled with guns and weapons. Dad played it safe. Looking down I saw the hand gun I had placed in my belt loot and the extra bullets in the bag I had on my back. The bag was old and green, I had found it under the floor as well. I had stuffed some food it, extra clothes, bullets and some weapons. Even some tooth brushes and cloths, just in case we were as back as last time. And there was also a rater large first aid kit with bandages, plasters, sewing kit (though I hoped we wouldn't use it), medical tape and wipes, and a sling. There was also some anesthetic in there, which was always handy.
"Hey." I jumped, waking from my thoughts. It was Anna, dressed in all black, her hair in long plates at the side of her head. On her back she had a slightly smaller bag, probably with almost the same things, maybe some of Dad's stuff.
"Hey. Where are the others?" I asked, just as everyone else walked out the house, Townsend was the last out, closing the door.
"All here captain." Macey smirked. I nodded, Zach was stood at the back with Cammie, Bex was with Liz next to Macey and Seth was just a little off to my left, behind Anna.
"Good, now I need a cell phone." I said, everyone looked around, I probably should have mentioned it earlier.
"Are you sure it's safe?" Zach pulled out an old Nokia from his camouflage coat pocket and handed it to me. I thought for a moment.
"Maybe." I said, what else was there? Then I turned it on and dialed a number. We all waited.
"Hello, who is this?" The boy on the other end of the phone asked. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, I hadn't heard that voice in a few years.
"Jack," I said. "It's me." There was silence.
"Alexa?" He asked. "Or is it Helena?" Jack's tone was sour.
"Oh stop being such a baby, I told you in the end didn't I?" The group around me was tense. "Look, please, I need your help. Meet me at the back of the old Cafe, you know the one." I hung up before he could answer, he would do it... I hoped.
"A cafe?" Seth voiced. "Isn't that suicide? Being in public?" Zach shot him a glare.
"I think that's why we're going round the back." He said dryly. Before an argument could break out I opened up the van door.
"Not 'we', me, alone." I said, climbing into the seat and sliding along to the drivers side. Seth looked to Zach before climbing in next to me.
"Are you crazy?" He asked, Bex followed him and the rest went in the back.
"Maybe." I shrugged, turning on the rattly old van.
"What have you done to it?" Liz gasped from the back. Bex banged on the wall between us.
"Actually it was Zach," she said humorously, "he was trying not to hit you but he hit a lamp post in stead." I could hear Liz slapping Zach, possibly in the arm.
"Oi!" He yelped, and it made me laugh, some how, the events of the past few days seemed distant. The van rolled along as we pulled out of the forest and onto the road, there were more cars now. Bex cursed. I shielded my eyes from the morning sunlight and drove out to the left, making my way to a little village just north of there, Castor Village.
It wasn't much of a village, there was a few rows of shops, a small school and a population of about 400. Almost everybody knew everybody. Even when I'd only stayed there 2 months I was known by almost everyone, Helena Octavia.
I doubted Jack would recognise me, with my hair not being brown and short and my eyes not being a dirty mud sort of colour. I felt quite harsh leaving it till the last few days to tell him the truth, but it was the right thing to do. Besides, he saw me and Zach beat up 5 grown men outside of Cafe Chocolat. What was I supposed to do? He threatened to call the police, then Zach knocked him out.
It was a good thing Zach was in the back now, I don't think I could have handled the looks he'd give me, probably judging. Jack had been my boyfriend, my first boyfriend, so Zach thought I had clouded my judgement. Seth turned and looked at me.
"We have to get off the main road, before we get stopped." He said.
I shook my head. "This is the quickest root, it won't take long, maybe 15 minutes."
"Alexa, Seth is right, we don't need to attention, give what happened at the academy. The police will be on the look out." Bex argued, I opened my mouth to argue back.
"Plus we're missing persons now. Besides, what'll they find under your name, how many identities do you have?" He interrupted me.
"We have to get there." I snapped. "The sooner we find dad, Mrs Morgan and the Baxters, the better." I gripped the wheel tighter and turned left. We were ten minutes away.
"I'm all for that." Seth held up his hands. "But look around, this isn't just about that. We have to think about ourselves first. We aren't any good to them in jail, or dead." A shiver went down my spine, I could feel my face pale.
"No. I know where we're going, trust me." I said quietly, this wasn't what I'd planned. This could all go wrong.
Turning a corner a sign loomed over head.
"Welcome to Castor Village, please drive safe."
