Alexa POV
I was still trying to hide how odd it was being back in Castor, seeing Jack again. It would have all felt so normal, if it wasn't for Seth and Bex, and the fact that we were on the run. But, then again, I always was.
Jack went up to his door and put his ear against it, checking to see who was in, then he locked it and turned to us. "Okay, my parents are downstairs. But we don't have long." He said. Seth, who was stood against the back wall with his hands in his jean pockets, said:
"Well then, we best be quick." He pushed himself off the wall and looked at the stacks of paper on Jack's desk.
"Don't touch those." He said defensively. Seth smirked and moved his hands away. Bex rolled her eyes and looked to Jack.
"What are we doing here anyway? I thought we were getting a new van." She sounded worn out, and tired, I wondered why she had volunteered to come in the first place, me Seth and her didn't really know each other. I looked to Jack suspiciously.
"Jack, spill, now." I stood up from his bed where I had been sitting and crossed the room to him. "You are going to help us right?" I tried to the sound scared, had this all been a trap? But I knew Jack, I was sure he wasn't tricking us.
"You'll get your van okay? Jeez." He took a step back, like he was scared of me or something, which almost made me smile. "I just have to get the keys."
"To the van?" Seth asked, he had taken Jack's leather spinning chair opposite his 3 computers he had wired together, he put his feet up on the desk. Jack exhaled and pushed his feet off.
"No, to the storage unit I have down the other side of town." He said. I nodded, I knew the one he meant, we had gone down their a few times before we found the den. It was also where I discovered that the Circle Of Cavan had found me again.
He knelt down and rummaged under his bed, emerging a few minutes later looking triumphant with a key in his hands and the key ring of mickey mouse I had won at a carnival and given him. Everything was going so well for the first time since I went to Gallagher Academy. Then it all went south.
Just as Bex was opening the window there was footsteps coming up the hall. Jack cursed and opened his closet, ushering me and Bex inside, just as the door was opening Jack got in. Seth wasn't so lucky.
We held our breathes and peeked through the crack in the door, Seth was stood frozen with his hand next to the closet door handle, a look of utter panic on his face. Jacks mum shrieked and dropped the laundry she had been carrying. "Oliver!" She yelled, pulling her mobile photo out of her pocket - presumably to call the police -. Seth blinked and shook off the shock.
"Oh, ermm..." He stammered, clearing his throat. I wanted to go out, but Bex held me back, she but her finger to her lips and shook her head. I bit my lip and looked back at Seth.
Jacks dad, Oliver, came charging up the stairs and stopped next to his wife. "Who are you?!" He demanded. Seth looked around to the window, I knew what he was thinking.
"I'm errr. This just a miss understanding..." He tried a weak smile, slowly edging back to the window. Molly turned away to call the police. "I swear I didn't take anything! I'm not a thief." He manged to back up to the window.
"Then what're you doing in my sons room?" Oliver said, coming closer to Seth, who sighed, he had no idea how to answer, instead he pushed the window open and leaped out onto the nearest branch, I couldn't see anymore from there. Oliver swore and rushed to the window, cursing again, Seth had probably got away. Thank god. I relaxed, waiting for Molly and Oliver to leave, Molly was on the phone to the police.
"Perfect." Bex mumbled just as Jacks parents left. We opened the door quietly and went back into the room.
"At least he got away." Jack offered, I glared at him.
"Finger prints." She said. "The police will look for them, probably finding ours." I nodded.
"We have to clean them up, quickly and quietly. The police will be here very soon." I said, taking tissues from the box next to Jacks bed, it wasn't exactly ideal for getting rid of prints, but it was all we had and we were in a hurry. I started on the closet while Bex did the papers and chair, Jack did the bed. It took about 4 minutes and 38 seconds to finish it up, then we left through the window, making sure to wipe it as we left. Down the tree we went and out down the street.
Seth was no where to be seen, but a police car was, so we didn't waste any time looking for him.
"Maybe he's back at the motel. We can regroup there." Bex offered, I nodded.
"Probably, that's where he would go." Then I stopped myself. "Unless he went to the storage unit."
"How would he know where to go?" Jack asked.
"He could ask." Bex shrugged. "It's worth a shot. At least then we can get the van and drive back to the motel if he isn't there, it is a win win really." That made sense. Even Jack gave a slight nod, Bex gestured for us to lead the way.
