Dean and Castiel made their way back to the car with Castiel holding the righteous man's hand tightly. Once they got there they walked over to Sam and Dean crouched down in front of the young angel. There was one more of this motley crew that he needed to get and he didn't him to see Cas, or vice versa.
"Hey buddy, you stay here with Sammy for me okay? I won't be long." He said moving to stand.
"Where are you going?" Castiel asked. He didn't want to be alone again.
"I just have to get someone else okay. I'll be back soon. "
"Promise?" Castiel asked quietly. He knew he shouldn't but he was scared down on earth in the dark while his brothers and sisters fell from the sky.
"I promise." Dean replied ruffling Castiel's hair. "Why don't you see how Sam's doing for me?" he asked smiling. Castiel nodded he was an angel, he could do that. With that nod Dean went into the church to get Crowley.
Castiel put his hand on Sam's shoulder hoping to give him comfort when he moaned, then he placed his other hand on his face as Gabriel would do for him when he was hurt.
"Do not be afraid Samuel. My name is Castiel and I am an angel. I will help you." He said as he tried to send his healing grace to the man the way Gabriel had shown him. He was not sure if he was successful but Sam seemed to calm slightly so he thought he might have been.

Sam opened his eyes, he could feel soft hands on his face. Hands that didn't below to Dean. Looking at the face in front of him he thought he was hallucinating. He was looking at the face of a child. But then the child spoke.

"Cas?" he whispered to the angel in front of him. What was going on?

Castiel tilted his head. It was second time he had heard that word and he still didn't know what it meant. "I do not know this word." He said with a look of confusion on his face. Sam couldn't think enough to explain. He was in so much pain.

"Where's Dean?" He asked instead.

"He went to get someone from the church and left you in my charge."

Sam just huffed at that and closed his eyes as he whispered "Crowley." Before he felt a warmth once again flow though him from the hand on his face. The warmth calmed him and reduced the pain. It urged him to sleep. He didn't have the energy to fight it so he gave into the darkness of slumber.
Castiel had soothed Sam as well as he could for now when he heard a muffled voice approaching and looked up to see Dean dragging a man who wasn't truly a man but a demon.
He watched Dean put the demon in the trunk of the impala and close it up. All in silence. He wasn't afraid the demon, Crowley he had heard Sam call him, he was weakened and contained and no threat to a fledgling.
"Okay buddy let's get this show on the road shall we?" Dean said with false bravo. He needed to get them on the road before the shit really hit the fan.
"I have tried to help Samuel. He seems more peaceful now."

"That's good Castiel, you did good." Dean replied with a smile as he made his way over to his brother, pulling him up and placing him in the back of the car with Castiel's help. "Okay Cas. Come on you can sit in the front with me." He said smiling down at the baby angel.

"Cas?"

"Yeah it's short for Castiel. You like it?" Dean asked smiling. There was no way he was going to be able to go back to calling him Castiel all the time. He would always be Cas to Dean. No matter what happened to him.

Castiel thought for a moment. He felt he did like the name Cas. As if it made him special in some way. That decided he spoke. "Yes. I have never been in a car before. Does it go fast?" Castiel asked as he climbed in and Dean did up his seatbelt.

"Hell yeah. Baby's real fast." Dean replied starting the engine and manoeuvring the impala away from the church.

A minute later Castiel spoke up. "Your 'baby' is not as fast as an angel Dean." He said completely seriously and using finger quotes around the name of Dean's car. Dean just smiled at how much young Cas was like the older one he knew. He was glad that he hadn't changed that much since when he was young.

Gabriel was falling. He did not like it at all. It was a damn pain in the ass. One minute he was hiding out in heaven the next he was being expelled in a ball of fire towards the earth. He did what he could to prevent himself from getting too hurt in the fall and just had to ride it out. Or at least that was the plan until across the winds of the world he heard a cry he hadn't heard in eons. It was the cry of a fledgling calling out to him. He instinctively tried to reach out for it, to fall towards the young angel before he remembered two things. One there were no more fledglings, and two if there were he was no longer in charge of them. But these realisations came too late as he crashed down in a forest. For a minute he just lay there getting his metaphorical breath back before he moved to see how he was doing, using his archangel juice to fix any broken bones in his vessel. He then made his way out of the crater he had created and walked towards the edge of the woods thinking about the voice that called out to him. The more he thought about it the more he realised it was a voice he recognised. A voice of the one angel he always felt guilt about leaving when he ran from heaven. It was the voice of the fledgling Castiel. But he wasn't a fledging anymore. What in dads name was going on? He thought as he got to the edge of the woods and found a church. A church which screamed that something had gone down there. Something big had almost been completed. It didn't feel dangerous, at least not to him, so he went to investigate.

Walking up to the church he saw tire marks in the dirt but he paid them little heed as he made his way inside. There he saw complete devastation. There was a chair knocked over and a devils trap on the floor. The windows were blown out. He had no idea what had happened but looking around him, and coupling it with the tire marks outside he guested that the Winchesters were involved. This was where he had heard Castiel after all. It made sense that he would be with them. In which Case he should be fine.

He walked out of the church trying to convince himself that that was true but deep down inside he knew that things were far from fine. He needed to know what was going on. Now. Why had he heard Castiel as a fledging calling out to him? And why were the angels falling? It seemed that the best way to find that out was to speak to the Winchester boys. The problem now was how to find them?
