Dean woke after a few hours with his back killing him from sleeping in a chair. He first thought was Sam, and as such his eyes searched the body on the bed to make sure he was still alive. Which he was. He then turned to look at the child who was still in his arms whispering quietly. "Hey Cas, you asleep?"

"Angels don't need to sleep Dean." Castiel replied. He had relaxed safe in Deans arms and watched as he slept. Why did humans sleep but angels didn't he wondered?

"Yeah okay. Well I need to get up now buddy so..." and with that Castiel slipped off of Dean's knee, standing in front of him and just looking at him with his big blue eyes. "How's Sammy doing?" Dean asked the angel as he got up and stretched.

"He seems peaceful enough." Castiel replied, looking carefully at the man on the bed.

"Good. That's good. Right little man I'm going to have to get some supplies today and I want you to stay here with Sam and Kevin, okay?" Dean said smiling down at Cas.

Castiel was scared. What if Dean didn't come back? What if something happened? Would Gabriel be able to find him if he wasn't with Dean? He didn't want to be alone. Dean was his protector shouldn't they stay together? With these thoughts he wrapped his little arms around his body trying to return the warmth he had felt from Dean.

Dean saw Cas closing in on himself and swore under his breath. What was up now?

"what is it Cas?" he asked gently crouching down so he was at the angels eye-level.

"I don't want you to go." Castiel whimpered up at Dean.

"I know buddy but I need to." Dean carried on in his gentle voice hoping he could convince Cas to let him go.

"Then can't I come with you?"Castiel asked with big eyes begging Dean to say yes.

"Sorry buddy, but your safer here. No one will hurt you while I'm away." Dean replied with finality in his voice. He couldn't take Cas out there when there were angels running a muck.

"but what if they hurt you?" Castiel asked in a small voice.

"I'm big and ugly enough to look after myself Cas. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine. But I need to get some food for me and Kevin, you some new clothes and Sam some medicine okay?" Dean said while smiling at the baby angel in front of him.

Castiel thought about it but he knew that Dean won't change his mind, like Gabriel, when he made a decision he stuck to it, especially if it involved Castiel's safety. so after a while he nodded before he spoke. "I'll stay with Samuel and try to help him get better." he said bravely. He could do this, he was an angel.

"Good plan Cas, and don't worry I won't be long." with that Dean smiled and ruffed the angel's hair as he got up and went to the door to see if Kevin wanted anything while he was out.

And Castiel turned to the bed and climbed up next too Samuel, curling up so he could rest his head on his chest and keep his hand on his face. If he didn't have Dean's warmth then Samuel's would have to be the next best thing, and may be if he made Samuel better Dean wouldn't have to leave again.

When Dean got out to the car he remembered the junk in his trunk. He didn't want to take him into the bunker now, not when he wasn't there to make sure he stayed locked up. Opening the trunk he looked down at Crowley and spoke. "We're going on a little trip. Don't make a noise and I won't kill you." and with that he slammed the trunk closed again and got into the driving sit of his car. Time to go shopping.

Gabriel was getting very frustrated. He'd trawled all the motels throughout the night and couldn't find the impala anywhere. He was now going through all the diners in the hopes of finding the boys in one of them. He knew that Cas hadn't left where ever they had stayed the night before but maybe Sam or Dean would go out for food and he could catch them then. He was just about pull up by the next diner on the street when he saw it. Though it wasn't where he thought it would be. He saw the impala parked outside a second hand clothes store, which he found a bit odd but maybe one of them had got blood on there stuff or something. Maybe the clothes were for Castiel? He couldn't see him fixing them with his current level of grace. And all the time these thoughts were going through his head he parked his car and got out. Making his way across the street and leaning against the impala waiting of whichever Winchester came out the store.

Dean had managed to find Cas some clothes that should fit him in the second hand store, he even managed to find a small kids beige trench coat and hoped that he could get Cas to swap it for the adult one he was currently wearing. He was thinking about the next step on his list as he left the store to go to his car, but when he looked towards the impala all thoughts flew from his head, because there leaning against his baby with his arms crossed was Gabriel. The dead archangel.

"What you doing here? Your dead." He said when he was close enough to Gabriel.

"No I'm not and I'm Looking for my brother." Gabriel replied rolling his eyes at Dean. He obviously wasn't dead was he?

"Well good luck with that." Dean replied with a smirk trying to walk round Gabriel so he could put the bag of clothes in the back-seat of the car.

"Dean don't." Gabriel said in a forceful voice putting his hand out to stop him.

"Why not?" Dean asked. He'd had enough of this shit he needed to get to the hospital to procure the things Sam was going to need.

Gabriel wanted to answer because he said so but he knew that that wouldn't get him anywhere with Dean. What he needed was to touch his heart. With that thought he knew just what to say."How would you feel if I refused to let you see Sam?"

Dean closed his eyes at Gabriel's argument because he knew it was one he couldn't dispute. Gabriel was Castiel's big brother and from what little Cas had been saying he was also the one who cared for him as a fledgling. "Fine. Get in but we need to stop off at the hospital." He replied opening his eyes.

"Why?" Gabriel asked confused. If Dean thought that anything at the hospital could help Castiel then he was very wrong. The only thing that could help his brother was him.

"Cos I need to get some things to help Sam." Dean replied as though speaking to a child. Damn angels.

"What's wrong with him?" Gabriel asked, he was worried now. Was Dean looking after an injured Cas and Sam?

Dean thought about not answering but Gabriel was an archangel, maybe he knew something that could help. "He tried to close the gates of hell but stopped at the last trials."

"Nothing humans have got will help him Dean-o." Gabriel replied with sincere sorrow in his voice for the man standing next to him. Hearing Castiel voice as a fledging had made him remember all the emotions associated with being a big brother, and he knew Dean felt them greater than most.

"Can you?" Dean whispered with hope in his voice.

"That depends." Gabriel replied. He wasn't going to promise he could.

"On what?" Dean asked. He would give Gabriel whatever he wanted if he could fix Sam.

"On how much grace I have left after I save Castiel." Gabriel replied bluntly. If it became a choice between their brothers he would always save his own first.

"Not sure what you can do for him." Dean replied running his hand over his face, the hope slowly fading. Gabriel wasn't going to help Sam.

"What do you mean?" Gabriel asked instantly going on alert. He didn't think his brother was that hurt. What had happened while he couldn't sense him?

"It'll be better if I show you." Dean replied.

"Then lets go." Gabriel responded instantly turning to open the passenger door of the impala.

"I need the stuff from the hospital." Dean reminded him as he got in the drivers seat.

"Fine lets go get it then shall we?" Gabriel said snarkily as if he could make Dean move faster just by his voice. And rather than respond Dean just started the car. He was rather disorientated about having Gabriel as his passenger. It was certainly a new occurrence.
