Hello again. I would like to thank those who have favoured and followed this story.
Here's the next bit. Enjoy.
Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural.
They got the medical supplies from the hospital, Dean finding that Gabriel could be really rather sneaky when he wanted to be, managing to procure all Dean said they might need as well as some stuff that they didn't. They then went to get groceries. once that was done Dean started driving back to the bunker.
"So where we going Dean-o? And why you driving round with a demon in your trunk?" Gabriel asked as they left town. It had taken him a while but he finally worked out what had been niggling at the back of his mind since getting to the car. There was an active devils trap in the trunk. Which could only mean one thing, the question was why?
"We're going to the men of letter bunker and Crowley was the demon Sam was trying to cure. So I shoved him in the trunk when we left and haven't got round to getting him out yet." Dean replied. He guessed Gabriel needed to know these things. After all he was, on the whole, one of the good guys.
"The men of letters hu? I thought they had all died out years ago." Gabriel said surprised when he heard there destination.
"They did in a way. Sam and I are legacies apparently, dad was supposed to be one." Dean replied, giving Gabriel the bare facts while keeping his eyes on the road.
"Of course. Joining the lines of hunters and men of letters. Makes sense." Gabriel muttered looking out the window.
"What?" Dean asked taking his eyes off of the road. What was Gabriel going on about now?
"Your parents Dean." Gabriel replied turning to look at the man driving.
"Oh." was all Dean could think to say so he turned back to watching the road.
"so why Crowley? I thought he helped stop the apocalypse." Gabriel said to change the conversation to something less painful, he hoped.
"Well yeah and then he became The King of Hell." Dean replied.
"Crowley? The King of Hell? Damn that place has gone to the dogs." Gabriel said in surprise and with a shake of his head.
Dean just raised his eyebrows at the angel next to him as he replied "its Hell Gabriel what do you expect?"
"Yeah okay" Gabriel said in a sarcastic tone, he then turned to Dean and asked seriously. "So what's wrong with Castiel?"
"I don't know. Though there's nothing wrong per se he's just...different." Dean replied as he finally pulled up outside the bunker.
"Different how?" Gabriel demanded, what had happened to his brother?
"We're here. Why don't you see for yourself?" Dean replied climbing out of the car. Gabriel followed quickly and they were soon making there way through the door.
Castiel was in Samuel's room when he felt the presence of an angel in the bunker. He slowly got up and wondered what to do. He decided to go see who it was. He could always hide if it was one of his brothers or sisters he didn't really get along with.
With that thought he made his way to the entrance of the bunker and hid himself behind a pillar before sneaking a look around to see. When he saw who was following Dean down the stairs he forgot all about hiding, he had just one thought, his brother had come for him. With that he ran out from behind the pillar shouting Gabriel's name with joy, holding up his arms so his brother could pick him up when they met.
Gabriel followed Dean through the door of the bunker. As soon as he crossed the threshold he could once again sense Castiel, nothing hadn't changed since the last time and with that thought he relaxed slightly. He was making his way down the stairs behind Dean when he heard someone yell his name, he lifted his head up to see a small blur of dark hair and beige coat hurtling across the floor towards him. What in dads name? He thought as he instinctively reached down to the child who had Castiel's grace, though he had the voice of Castiel the fledging. Picking him up he turned to Dean with a question in his eyes.
Dean saw the question and just shrugged and replied. "Like I said, different."
"He's a fledging Dean." Gabriel snapped at him before turning his attention to the brother in his arms.
Castiel was so happy. Gabriel had come back for him just like Dean had said he would. He snuggled down in his big brothers arms and found comfort in his grace. He had his big brother back. He had no need to be the strong angel any more, Gabriel would take care of everything. With these thoughts he felt tears roll downs his cheeks again. He was so happy to have Gabriel back.
Gabriel looked down at Castiel and saw the tears start to fall as he buried himself in his shoulder. The tears set of the protectiveness in Gabriel and he rounded on Dean with the full force of his remaining archangel power.
"What did you do to him Dean?" he said making his voice boom around the room.
To Dean Gabriel looked liked was simmering. Oh crap, he thought. He didn't even know what Gabriel was smiting him for.
But before Gabriel could come up with a suitable punishment for him, he felt a small had on his cheek and heard a small yet forceful voice both outside and inside his head. "Gabriel stop." Castiel said. When he felt his brother rein in his grace he smiled at him. "I'm crying because I am happy your here. I missed you. I know you were busy and Dean said you would come for me but I didn't like being alone. Though I did have Dean. He was very good at looking after me Gabriel, he let me help him look after Samuel, but I don't think my healing is doing much good, but your here now. So it doesn't matter any more. I love you Gabriel. I missed you so." and with that Castiel flung his arms around the startled archangels neck.
Gabriel had forgotten how caring and emotional Castiel was as a fledging, before he had been programed into heaven's warrior. He just stood there and closed his eyes as he held his brother close whispering to him "I missed you too kiddo, but I'm back now and I'm never leaving you again." he then turned to look at Dean who had the strangest smile on his face. It was then saw the young Asian man in the room. He felt something from him, but he could deceiver what it was.
"Who are you?" he asked not meaning to sound blunt but he really wanted to know.
"Umm, Kevin Tran?" the man answered and Gabriel just closed his eyes. Of course he's Kevin Tran. Of course Dean would have the prophet of the lord hiding out in his secret bunker.
Castiel looked up at Gabriel and spoke. "he's a prophet but he doesn't have an archangel watching him. Why is that Gabriel?"
"I don't know but I'm here now." was all Gabriel could think to say in answer to his little brother.
"What? Who are you?" Kevin asked. Was this guy offering to be his protection? Did that mean he was-? That thought was cut off by the man's response.
"I'm Gabriel."
"but I thought you were-" Kevin started but dean interrupted.
"Busy. Real busy right?" he said looking daggers at Kevin. What the hell?
"Yeah fine busy." Kevin continued with a roll of his eyes.
"Well I was but I'm not now." Gabriel replies with a smile. He thought it mildly entertaining that Dean had obviously not told Castiel that he was dead. It seemed the Winchester was looking out for his little Castiel. And he guessed one good turn deserved another and there was nothing he could do for Castiel until he knew what had happened, whereas Sam he might be able to save.
With that thought he put Cas down and taking his hand turned to Dean. "so where's Sam at?" he asked.
"Why?" dean asked in return suspiciously.
"cos I can't heal him from here. Kinda need physical contact." Gabriel replied. What did he think he was going to do?
"Oh. Umm, this way." Dean replied leading Gabriel and Cas to Sam's room.
"I did my best." Castiel said as they entered the room and Gabriel saw the state of Sam.
"I know you did little one. But for now I need you sit on that chair and stay really quiet okay? I'm going to need to concentrate to heal him." Gabriel replied.
"Okay." and with that Castiel made his way to the chair Dean had slept in last night and climbed up it kicking his feet when he was sitting down.
Once he saw that Castiel was sitting quietly Gabriel made his way over to the head of the bed and placed his hand on Sam's forehead. He frowned at how bad he was. If fact Gabriel was quite sure that he should be dead by now but be that as it may he needed to do what he could. With that thought he released his grace.
Dean stood by the door, he didn't want to say anything in case he broke Gabriel's concentration. It seemed to be taking a lot more angel mojo than it usually would to heal Sam. After a minute Gabriel removed his hand from Sam head and started to sway. Dean moved forwards to catch him.
"Here sit." he instructed pushing Gabriel down on the side of the bed. "So how's Sam?" he asked the tired angel.
"see for yourself." Gabriel replied with a smile for Dean before he beckoned Castiel over to him and let the fledging climb into his lap.
Dean turned to Sam just in time to see him blink his eyes open.
"Sammy." he breath running to the head of the bed.
"Dean? What's going on? Where are we?" Sam asked confused. Last he remembered was being by the car as the angels fell.
"We're at the bunker and Gabriel healed you." Dean replied helping his brother to sit up.
"but Gabriel's-" Sam started and then looked to end of his bed where Gabriel was sitting with a child in his arms. A child which Sam had a suspicion was actually Cas. How the hell did that happen?
"Right here." Gabriel finished for him, then turned to Dean. "You got space for me to lie down? I think I need to recharge my batteries after that. Also Sam, I couldn't heal you completely, I'll have to do it again tomorrow and the next day and so on until I get it all okay? So please for the love of dad don't do anything strenuous." Gabriel said tiredly looking at the brothers.
"Yeah sure, follow me." Dean said leading Gabriel and Castiel who refused to leave his side out the door to Cas' room in the bunker, and giving Sam an I'll explain everything when I get back look as they went out the door.
