Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural or any of the lines I have taken from the show.
When Dean and Gabriel were far enough from the dungeon, but not close enough to the rest of bunker, to be overheard by anyone Gabriel stopped Dean so that he could raise the questions he had had since he fell, hoping that Dean would have some if not all the answers.
"So Dean-o, tell me why did the angels fall?" He asked, leaning deceptively casually against the wall of the corridor.
Dean turned to Gabriel and wondered what he could say to that. He only knew some of what happened after all.
"Metatron told Cas that there were three trials to close heaven locking all the angels inside. He thought it was a good idea and so he did them. Or at least I know he did the first two. The last I have no clue about." He replied leaning against the opposite wall to Gabriel.
Gabriel was confused. Trails to close heaven? He wanted more than that. He needed everything Dean knew. "Okay what were to two he did?" He asked crossing his arms so Dean wouldn't see that he was clenching his fists.
"He had to get a Nephilim's heart and a Cupid's bow." Dean replied.
Gabriel closed his eyes. Those weren't trials, they were ingredients to a spell. But it was a spell that he didn't know. Only Metatron and his father knew it, so he had no idea what the final ingredients were. "Right. How did Cas become a fledging again?" He asked next.
"I don't know man." Dean replied sincerely.
"What happened Dean? I need to know." Gabriel asked persistently, he couldn't fix it unless he knew what the problem was.
"Well Cas asked my help getting Cupid's bow which I did. Then Naomi showed up and told us that Metatron was tricking Cas. I phoned Kevin to see if he could find anything on the angel tablet-" Dean explained only to be interrupted by Gabriel.
"The angel tablet?" Gabriel asked confused. He thought the words of God had been lost centuries ago. What was Dean doing with one of them? Though he guessed that did explain the prophet.
"Yeah you know the words of God? There was three of them. Leviathans, Demons and Angels." Dean explained, not sure what Gabriel did and didn't know.
"Yes I know. Carry on with the story Dean-o it just got interesting." He could find out how the Winchester's knew of the three tablets later. Right now that wasn't what was important.
"Well okay Kevin told me if Sam finished the trials to close Hell he would die. I wanted Cas to come with me, sort that out first then we would deal with the Heaven thing but he didn't believe Naomi, not after what she had done-" Dean continued only to be interrupted again by Gabriel.
"What had Naomi done?" Gabriel asked with narrow eyes. He didn't trust that bitch.
"Controlling his mind? Getting him to kill Alfie and try to kill me?" Dean said wondering if any of this was ringing bells with the archangel in front of him, and if not then where the hell had he been for the last 5 years?
"What in dads name has been going on?" Gabriel asked closing his eyes. Part of him couldn't really care less but another part, the part that had decided to take on Lucifer, the part that had instantly reached out to the call of fledging was wondering just what he had missed while he hid.
Dean stayed quite while he let Gabriel absorbed all he had told him so far.
"What happened next?" Gabriel finally asked with a sigh. He was getting the distinct impression that the more he found out the less he was going to like.
"Cas went back to heaven to talk to Metatron. That was the last I saw of him til I dragged Sam out that church and found him as his is now." Dean finished with a shrug. He had no idea what had happened but he had hoped that Gabriel would have an idea.
"Right. You still got the angel tablet?" Gabriel asked pushing himself away from the wall. If he had any hope off helping his brother the answer was in there.
"Yeah Kevin's working on it." Dean replied.
"Good. I need to know what that spell was if I have any chance of reversing it." Gabriel responded thinking about all that he would have to do to get Castiel back.
"We, Gabriel we." And with that Dean turned and left the stunned Gabriel standing there watching him walk away. Looked like he was becoming an honouring member of team Winchester. Though in the case of Heaven he really thought it should be team Gabriel.
Dena went to his brother's room to relieve him of Cas. He knew Sam wasn't doing very well with the whole Cas as a kid thing, add that to the fact that he had been close to death, then he probably should let him some rest. Walking towards Sam's room he heard strange noises, frowning he walked through he door to see Sam asleep while Cas was transfixed by the computer. He just hoped it wasn't his special websites Cas was looking at he thought with smirk as he made his way over to the kid.
"Hey Cas what ya doing?" he asked smiling down at the baby angel.
"Watching…Finding Nemo I believe Sam called it. It is very good." Castiel replied smiling up at Dean in return, but his eyes soon went back to the screen.
"Okay buddy. Well why don't we take this into the library? Let's leave Sam to sleep." Dean said hitting the pause button on the movie.
Castiel crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes when the screen stopped moving but luckily, just then Gabriel appeared in the doorway and he forgot his annoyance with Dean, replacing it with jumping off the bed and running to his brother and giving him a hug.
"Hey Cassie. What you been doing?" Gabriel asked picking up his fledging brother.
"Watching the laptop." Castiel replied snuggling into his brother's shoulder.
"Really?" Gabriel asked with the raise of an eyebrow to Dean as he collected up the laptop.
"let's go through to the library." Dean said ushering everyone out of his brother's room, hoping Sammy would stay asleep.
They got to the library only to find Kevin standing there with his arms crossed waiting. Dean just narrowed his eyes at him and set the computer up on the table for Cas to sit at and carry on watching his movie. He then proceed to find headphones and plugged him in. Once done he turned to Kevin with a look that clearly said 'well?'
"What's Crowley doing here? Why isn't he dead? Why aren't you stabbing him right now?" Kevin demanded of Dean. He had stayed quiet long enough.
"Alright Kevin chill out, we need him." Dean replied.
"What?" Kevin screeched. He can't be serious, this was Crowley they were talking about.
"Look if we can get Crowley to give us the name of every demon he's got top side, we can hunt them down. All of them." Dean tried to reason with him. When Kevin didn't say anything he continued. "He will break okay? When he does, we'll hold him down while you knife him. Then we all go out for ice cream and strippers."
Kevin thought about what Dean had said. Yes okay it would be good to get rid of all the demons, but this was Crowley.
"Just stay away from him kiddo." Gabriel said from his position next to Castiel. They didn't need any more problems right now. They had enough to be going on with.
"So now what?" Kevin asked begrudgingly.
"I've got to make some phone calls you, need to hit the angel tablet again see if you can find anything on it." Dean replied running a hand over his face as he did so.
"No Dean-o you need to sleep." Gabriel said with a frown. He didn't need Dean collapsing on him.
"I'm fine Gabriel, just awesome." Dean replied pulling out his phone and smirking at the archangel who just humped and went back to watching Cas watching Disney for the first time. The emotions crossing his face where a show all on their own. And it was a show he loved.
