It took Dean three hours but he had finally found four of the five ingredients Gabriel had listed and he had hopes that the archangel could help with the last one. With that he went to his room to grab a bowl they could mix the ingredients in and made his way to Gabriel rooms.

Opening the door he found that the archangel hadn't moved from the position he had left him in and in fact he had his eyes closed once again. His tiredness was starting worry Dean. They couldn't afford Gabe to be out of action.

"Hey Gabe, I got most of the things you wanted." He said uncertainly.

"What are you missing?" Gabriel asked opening his eyes and looking at Dean.

"Umm, an angel feather." Dean replied making Gabriel roll his eyes and click his fingers. There on top of the ingredients Dean had put in the bowl appeared a pure gold feather.

"Gold really? Well ain't your wings just the prettiest." Dean said with a smirk, not being able to stop himself from commenting and receiving a glare from Gabe.

"I'll have you know that gold wings are very sort after for angels. Now you got an empty room about this size? I need to make markings on the floor." Gabriel asked waving his hand round the room he was in.

"Yeah sure, there's one just down the corridor." Dean replied grabbing the bowl and standing.

Gabriel followed Dean more slowly, his grace was still recharging and he really wasn't feeling great but they needed to do this as soon as possible. He couldn't let Cas be in danger.

"You alright to do this?" Dean asked getting worried about Gabriel's slow movements, he was used to all angels just zapping about the place.

"Ah Dean-o I didn't know you cared. I'll be fine, buts thanks for the concern." Gabriel replied with a genuine smile on his face. He didn't have the energy to wind up Dean Winchester at present.

Once they got to the room Gabriel looked round, it was perfect for the purpose, with that thought he grabbed the bowl Dean was carrying out of his hands and deposited the ingredients on the floor before grabbing Deans arm and with no warning slicing his hand with his angel blade.

"What the hell?" Dean screeched trying to pull his hand away from Gabe but the angel held on tight.

"I need blood to draw the sigils." Gabriel replied not letting go of Deans hands.

"Well why the hell can't you use your own?" Dean grumbled relaxing and letting Gabe squeeze his hand to get more blood into the bowl.

"Cos it needs to be human blood Dean-o." Gabriel replied making a second slash with his blade when the first cut stopped bleeding and he didn't have enough for what he needed to do.

Dean winched at the second slash but he didn't complain. If Gabriel needed his blood to hide Cas then so be it. He could have it. Though he wished he had given him some warning.

Once Gabriel had enough blood in the bowl he healed the cuts on Dean's hand.

"Okay, you go get Cassie and I'll draw the sigils." He said moving to the centre of the room with the bowl. Dean just nodded and left the room flexing his fingers on his newly healed hand. He would never get used to that.

He found Cas and Sam sitting once again in the library surrounded by books, though now Kevin had joined them, with the angel tablet in front of him as he slowly wrote something then shook his head screwing up the paper and tossing it in the bin and going back to staring at the tablet, mumbling words under his breath. Hmm, maybe they should make Kevin take a break he was looking like shit, Dean thought but then turned his head away. That would be the next problem he would have to sort out, first Cas.

"Hey Cas, Gabriel and I need your help with something." He said smiling at the little angel.

At that Castiel raised his head and a large smile spilt his face, the righteous man and his brother needed his help. Of course they would have it.

"Of course Dean." He said getting down from his chair and walking over to take Deans hand still smiling up at him.

Sam looked at his brother and narrowed his eyes. Something was going on and he wanted to know what. He was just about to open his mouth and ask when Dean caught his eyes and shook his head. The look on his face saying he would explain later. Sam sent back the answering look of you better before turning back to the books in front of him where he was trying to help by researching everything that the men of letters had on angels.

Dean lead Cas down the corridor and entered the room just as Gabriel finished drawing the last sigil. Dean looked down at the floor and his mouth dropped. He couldn't believe Gabe had managed to do so much in the time he was gone.

On the floor there was three perfect circles one inside the other. The centre of the smallest circle was bare but between that and the middle one there were four different enochian sigils at the four points on a compass. Between the middle and outer circle there were six more different sigils spaced evenly apart. He had no idea what any of it meant but Dean was impressed with the work.

"Hey Cassie. Okay I need you to go stand in the centre circle okay?" Gabriel said crouching down by his brother.

"Why?" Castiel asked in a small voice. He had been happy to help Dean and Gabriel but now entering the room and seeing the sigils on the floor in blood he was scared. He didn't know what was going on. He knew that neither of the two beings with him would ever hurt him intentionally but he was slightly worried that they would hurt him by mistake.

"This won't hurt Cassie. I promise. You see after what you told me about Crowley recognising your grace I thought it would be better if to all beings you would appear as a human child. Then no one would hurt you. And I don't want you to be hurt Cassie. I can't let that happen." Gabriel explained to his brother in a gentle, soothing voice.

"Will it mean that I cannot use my grace?" Castiel asked afraid. He didn't want to not use his grace. It was part of him.

"No, but I would suggest that if you leave the bunker that you try not to use it." Gabriel replied instantly. He knew his brothers fears, he too wouldn't want to be without his grace.

At that Castiel nodded but didn't move or let go of Dean's hand he just stood there staring at the pattern on the floor.

"Come on Cas, you need to go stand in the centre now." Dean said in an encouraging tone causing Castiel to frown.

"I don't want to go alone." He finally said in a quiet voice. He was still scared.

At that Dean and Gabriel shared a look before Gabriel said with a shrug. "Well Dean-o can come with you if you like. The spell won't affect him." From his position still kneeling in front of his brother.

This caused Cas to turn to Dean with hope in his eyes. "Would you?" he asked breathlessly, if he had the righteous man with him then he would be fine.

"Sure buddy I'll come with you." Dean replied knowing that there was no way he could say no to the look in Cas' eyes.

With that Dean led Cas into the centre of the smallest circle where he sat crossed legged and placed Cas in his lap before turning to Gabriel.

"We're ready."

At that Gabriel nodded, sitting cross legged in front of the bowl and grabbing the ingredients he had place on the floor earlier. He started adding them into the bowl in the correct order and with the correct enochian words. Once all ingredients where added he set them on fire, causing the sigils on the ground surround Dean and Castiel to light up. Dean buried his head in his shoulder and held Cas tight as the light hurt his eyes, though the two angels just stared at it as if it was nothing. With one more word of enochian from Gabriel and the light was gone.

Dean looked up and blinked the white spots from his eyes as he looked round and saw that the sigils that had been drawn on the floor in his blood where all gone. Slowly he stood and turned to Gabriel to find that he was leaning his elbows on his knees. He looked completely shattered.

"Gabe. You okay?" Dean asked cautiously.

Gabriel looked up at that and smiled. "Sure. I'm dandy, now little one come here. Let's see if it worked shall we?" he said smiling at his brother who slowly walked towards him.

Gabriel reached out with his grace and he felt nothing from Castiel, he looked at him closely and all he saw was a human child in front of him. Switching his sight to soul sight he saw that Cas now sported the illusion of a human soul, all bright and colourful, flowing around him as a child's would.

He turned to Dean about to tell him it worked, forgetting he was still looking with his soul sight. What he saw stopped the words on his lips. Something was different with Dean's soul. Yes it was still the bright soul of the righteous man, but… he couldn't put his finger on it. With a shake of his head he brought his sight back to something close to human perception and looked a Dean. He didn't look any different. There was no outward change to him, just to his soul. Hmm, Gabriel would have to think about what that actually meant. But not now.

"It worked." Gabriel finally said to Dean.

"Awesome. Now I think you should probably go back to bed." Dean replied reaching down to help Gabe up and onto his feet.

"As much as I hate to Dean-o, I think I agree with you." Gabriel replied wearily.

"Come on then." Dean said going to grab Gabriel's arms.

"I'll be fine Dean. Go see how Sam is." Gabriel replied pulling his arm away from Dean. He did not need anyone's help.

"Sure okay." And with that Dean left shaking his head at the archangel, who didn't even notice his little brother putting his hand in his or the gentle feel of Castiel grace seep into him to give him the strength to get to their room.
