It had been two weeks since their last hunt, saving brad and the children. They had been moving from place to place, spending occasional nights in cheap motels, or sleeping in the Impala. They tried not to stay in any place for long periods of time, never knowing if any demons could be close. Bobby was keeping them informed of any signs of demon activity in an attempt to avoid it. They had been lucky so far. They had made it to a motel in Oklahoma. Sam and Dean had gone out to get dinner for everyone, leaving the girls by themselves in the motel room.
"Holy fuck turn your music down I can't hear my own laptop" Beth complained to Jess who was nodding her head along to the beat of her music staring off into space.
"She can't hear you" Samantha stated not looking up from the crime show she was watching on TV. Beth groaned falling back on the bed lifting her hand above her head which caused a gust of wind and a pillow to fall off her bed
"Okay are we gonna talk about this because this shit keeps happening" Samantha said picking the pillow up off the floor and chucking it back on Beth's bed.
"If we talk about it we'll somehow come to the conclusion to tell Sam and Dean about it so no" Beth stated chucking a pillow at Jess. Jess put her hand up stopping the pillow mid-air causing it to fall to the ground "besides we've got it under control" Beth said smiling at Samantha who sighed turning back to the TV.
"Yeah you've been terrorizing Sam and Dean with it. It's a wonder they haven't figured it out yet." Samantha said, she may have tried to sound mad, but you could hear the slight amusement in her voice.
"Sammie you've been doing that just as much as us."
"Have not." Samantha said defensively.
"Have so."
"Come on Sammie its funny confusing the boys."
"They're going to figure it out if you're not careful!" Samantha yelled in a huff. The boys walked through the door in the midst of the argument. The girls shut up instantly turning to look at the boys. Sam was standing there with his eyebrow raised, a plastic bag in his hand. Dean looked annoyed at the girls arguing again.
"Going to figure out what?" Dean asked. The girls all tried their best to not show the terror on their faces, hoping the boys hadn't heard that whole conversation. They had been messing around with their recently acquired powers, they could move and stop objects with just a movement of their hands, and had been moving things on the boys just to annoy them. They had to quickly think of a reply, but came up stuck.
"Nothing Dean." Samantha said quickly
"It's a surprise." Beth said smiling up at Dean
"Yeah don't be nosey." Jess added poking her tongue out
"So what'd you get?" Samantha said changing the subject.
"Don't be nosey" Sam said smirking at Samantha
"Probably edible food" Beth stated causing Samantha to throw a pillow at her. Instead of stopping it mid-air like she wanted to Beth let it hit her right in the head. "Bitch" Beth muttered
"Uh, one beef burger, one chicken salad and one fruit salad" Sam said pulling the food out of the bag and handing it to the girls
"You guys are turning into Sammy" Jess said to the other girls who were happily digging into their salads
"And you're turning into Dean" Beth said picking the seeds out of some watermelon. Once the girls had finished their dinner, they set back to what they had been doing before, Samantha watching TV, Beth and Jess on their laptops. Dean joined Samantha watching TV while Sam went on his laptop. Beth got out her phone and text Jess.
Hey, Jess, watch this it said jess looked at her phone and looked up at Beth who waved her hand to move Deans beer just out of arm's reach.
"What do you girls do all day stuck in these motel rooms it's been an hour and I'm already bored out of my mind" Sam joked
"Exactly what we're doing now" Jess said not looking up from her computer screen Samantha and Beth nodding in agreement.
"Any jobs Sammy?" Dean asked turning away from the TV screen.
"Nothing at the moment." Sam replied his eyes still scanning over his laptop. Dean turned back around to look at the TV, reaching his arm out to his beer. He went to clutch his beer but all he found was air, he looked towards his beer seeing it sitting further away than he had put it.
"Did you move my beer?" Dean asked turning to Samantha.
"What I didn't touch your beer, shhh I'm trying to watch this." Samantha said confusion clear on her face.
"Who moved my beer? Somebody moved my beer." Dean started to raise his voice.
"Dean nobody touched your goddamn beer, you're so paranoid sometimes. Not everyone is out to kill you gosh" Beth said exasperated
"Well..." Dean started
"Yeah I get it a lot of people are out to kill you but my point still stand no one moved your beer bottle" Beth said "you are just an idiot who put it down too far away" she said smirking and going back to her laptop. Dean looked at his beer bottle confused then picked it up taking a sip before placing it down near the edge of the table.
Later that night when everyone was asleep Sam tried to quietly get dressed to meet up with Ruby without waking up the other four who he thought were sleeping peacefully but Samantha and Beth were awake and saw this as an opportunity to mess with Sam. As Sam was walking over to the door Samantha carefully, so Sam wouldn't see, waved her hand to move a pillow in front of Sam's feet causing him to trip over with a loud thud waking Dean and Jess up. Dean jumped turning the lamp on and grabbing the gun by his bed and aiming it at Sam
"What the hell Sammy!" He yelled putting the gun back down.
"Fuck Sammy, I thought you were a demon" Jess said her hand on her chest
"Jesus Christ Sam why!" Beth yelled pretending to be shocked. Samantha just stared wide eyes not trusting herself to say anything without laughing.
"Where are you even going at three in the morning?" Dean asked taking note of the fact that Sam was fully dressed.
"I uhm I was going for a walk, couldn't sleep" Sam lied trying to be as convincing as possible.
"So you decided to wake us all up?" Jess asked angrily noticing the pillow on the floor and glaring in the direction of the double bed that Samantha and Beth were sharing for the night.
"I tripped, it's not like I intentionally fell over just to wake you up" Sam retorted getting defensive
"Where were you really going?' Dean asked glaring at Sam knowing what he was really doing.
"I told you before I was going for walk" Sam said through clenched teeth standing up and chucking the pillow onto Samantha and Beth's bed "anyway you can't blame me, there been a lot of stuff like pillows moving to weird places ever since the demon attack at Bobby's" Sam said sending a quick glance to the girls
"Okay cut the crap we saw you girls back there, what have you been doing?" Dean said getting out of his bed and putting a shirt on.
"Nothing" Samantha said a little bit too quickly. Sam raised his eyebrow at her and the other girls glared at her
"Girls.' Sam said impatiently
"Okay look yeah we might have some weird powers and yeah we might know how to use them but we are literally only ever using them to mess with you guys like moving beer bottles and laptops and pillows. We are not harming other human beings." Beth said quickly.
"I told you we needed to talk to them about before it got too out of hand" Dean growled at Sam.
"It's hardly out of control Dean" Beth spat at him
"Oh yeah you have demon like powers and know how to use them. You're part demon how is this not out of control!" Dean yelled
"How about because we're not killing people with it we're literally using it to move shit around the motel rooms when you guys leave us in here all day with nothing to do!" Beth yelled her anger quite obvious
"We're actually part angel" Samantha corrected Dean causing him to glare at her "Just saying"
"Dean this is stupid they're not harming anyone" Sam said trying to calm his brother down
"You'd understand wouldn't you" Dean said turning on his brother
"What do you mean" Sam asked defensively
"Working with that demon bitch again. I saw you in that warehouse" Dean yelled his voice getting louder.
"Dean I did that to save us." Sam argued
"What about where you are going now?" Dean
"I told you I'm just going for a walk." Sam said defensively
"That's crap and we both know it. You were going to meet Ruby" Dean said angrily. Sam looked shocked that Dean knew he was still spending time with Ruby. "Well, I don't know when it happened. Maybe when I was in hell. Maybe when I was staring right at you. But the Sam I knew, he's gone." Dean said quietly, his voice filled with hatred.
"That so?" Sam asked raising an eyebrow defensively.
"And it's not the demon blood or the psychic crap. It's the little stuff. The lies. The secrets." Dean's voice began to rise again.
"Oh, yeah? What secrets?" Sam asked defensively. The girls could see his anger boiling beneath the surface. They gathered that there were some underlying issues that boys had carried for quite some time.
"The phone calls to Ruby for one." Dean stated
"So I need your say-so to make a phone call?" Sam asked raising his voice.
"That's the point. You're hiding things from me. What else aren't you telling me?" Dean asked
"None of your business." Sam said quickly.
"See what I mean? We used to be in this together. We used to have each other's backs." Dean said through gritted teeth.
"OK, fine. You know why I didn't tell you about Ruby, and how we're hunting down Lilith? Because you're too weak to go after her, Dean. You're holding me back. I'm a better hunter than you are. Stronger, smarter. I can take out demons you're too scared to go near." Sam stated.
"That's crap." Dean said quickly.
"You're too busy sitting around feeling sorry for yourself. Whining about all the souls you tortured in hell. Boo hoo. You're not standing in my way anymore." Sam turned around and began storming towards the door, just as he reached for the handle Dean yelled again.
"Tell me again how weak I am, Sam, huh? How I hold you back?" Dean yelled. Sam ignored Deans comment, opening the door of the motel room and slamming it shut, leaving Dean and the girls inside.
The girls sat there shocked, not believing what they had heard. The boys had their moments but they had never had a go at each other like that, at least not in front of them. Dean was fuming, he turned around to look at the girls, and they shrunk back into their beds.
'Dean you okay?" Jess asked quietly. Dean glared at her causing her to back up on her bed even more.
"I'm fine" he snapped "just go to sleep we'll head back to Bobby's tomorrow." Dean got back into his bed, turning off the lamp, and the girls lay down to a restless sleep.
