hello again. I would like to thank SummerMistedDragon for the great review. I'm in a writing mood today it seems. So here you go, have another chapter.
Again set in season 9, episode 4 'Slumber Party'. Enjoy.
Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural.
Castiel stood and watched his brother with a tilt of his head. It had become a regular thing for him to see Gabriel exhausted by healing people. But it was never something he would get used to. He didn't understand why it affected Gabriel in this way, it really shouldn't. He was an archangel, one of the most powerful of all angels. His power was second only to god himself. Surely he should not be getting tied.
But be that as it may Gabriel was tried. And Castiel could see just how low his grace truly was. It was almost none existent, he was surprised his brother could move at all with that small amount inside him. Shaking his head he reached out his hand and pushed some of his own grace into his brother. Gabriel had more need of it than Castiel did at the present moment in time. And Sam had said that he needed to protect Gabriel. Sharing his grace with his brother was definitely needed to protect him.
Gabriel was lying on the bed wondering if he had gone to far this time. Wondering if this was something he would come back from or if this was it. The end of the archangel Gabriel, when he felt a warmth radiating through him emitting from the small hand that had been laid over his heart. He smiled at his brother, not that he could see him with his eyes closed, but smile he did as he raised his own hand and placed it over Cassie's. Seemed Castiel was no keener about losing him as he was of losing Cassie.
They stayed like that for a while. The two angels and the prophet. Cocooned in their own little world, with Castiel sharing enough of his grace so that Gabriel felt better, or at least not like he was going to die. With that thought he sat up and removed Cassie's hand from him with a little squeeze. He couldn't risk his brother giving him any more grace, and he had enough now that if he needed to he could fight. Maybe not brilliantly, but well enough to protect those in his care. And so he rolled his shoulders and neck and grabbed his blade. He was as ready as he would ever be. And it came just in time.
Castiel released his hold on his brother and smiled up at him as he sat up. Yes Gabriel was doing much better now. With that he allowed his grace to settle back inside him and his mind to calm. Gabriel was there and Gabriel would protect them all. It was what he did. Suddenly his smile turned to one of alarm.
Gabriel looked over at his brother and saw the change in his face. Grabbing the fledgling gently by the shoulders so that they could look at each other eye to eye he asked.
"What is it Cassie? What's happening?" Because the archangel himself could feel nothing.
"Its Dean. I don't understand. It is like someone has taken control of him." Castiel replied in a fearful voice.
At that Gabriel swore, a lot. He then pulled himself out of the bed, ready to make his way to the door and try to save Dean-o from whatever idiotic thing he had got himself into this time.
"You can't go out there alone Gabriel." Castiel said when he realised what his brother was doing. And to prevent this he threw himself onto his brothers legs.
"Cassie I have to. Someone has to go keep an eye on those to schmucks." Gabriel replied trying to prize Castiel off of him but finding it impossible.
"Then I'll come with you." Castiel declared.
"No Cassie. Someone has to stay and protect Kevin." Gabriel replied gently but firmly.
"Umm, I could always come to?" Kevin ventured into the conversation. He had a feeling they would all be better if they stuck together.
At that Gabriel closed his eyes. It looked like he wasn't getting out of this one.
"Fine." he muttered and Castiel beaming let go of his legs and followed him out the door with his weapon at the ready, Kevin was right behind with his knife. He really did wonder why on earth he had suggested this.
They found the other four people in the garage that it seemed on one had been aware of and one look at Sam and Dean and they realised that they where most definitely not Sam and Dean.
"you girls go kill the Witch. Leave the Winchester's to us." Gabriel said arriving on the scene and putting away his blade. He didn't want to hurt Sam or Dean after all.
Before anyone could response Sam ran at him tackling him to the ground. He was just about to react when the younger Winchester was flung off of him and shoved against the wall. A small blur of beige then went after him, hitting him with the full force of his angel strength. Knocking Sam Winchester on his ass and out cold. Gabriel had to say he was impressed with Cassie's abilities there. But time to get back to the fight he thought as he saw Dean advance on Castiel.
Castiel saw Sam hurt his brother and something inside him snapped. No one hurt Gabriel, and with that he used all his strength to disable him. But then when he turned he saw Dean coming at him and suddenly he was scared. He couldn't fight the righteous man, he couldn't hurt Dean. He didn't know what to do. Suddenly he felt very much like the fledgling he was. He didn't like this. He didn't want to fight, and he didn't want to be strong. He wanted to be behind Gabriel right now. And suddenly he was.
"Leave this to me little one." Gabriel whispered over the angelic link they shared and with that Gabriel and Dean started to fight.
They traded blow for blow being fairly evenly matched, with Dean having the enhanced strength and ability from the Witch and Gabriel having his seriously reduced powers as an archangel. The only difference was that Dean was determined to injure and kill, whereas Gabriel just wanted to incapacitate him. Which did make it rather hard for him. Gabriel had to use all his knowledge of fighting, both the fair and the foul tricks just to keep up and out of Deans way. But finally Gabriel was able to pin the hunter down. He raised his hand to deliver a knock out blow when Deans eyes blinked and the green that had been in them controlling him, disappeared to be replaced by his usual green eyes. At that Gabriel let out a sigh of relief. He really didn't want to go round betting the crap out of Dean. Well actually he did, sometimes, just not today.
Dean came back to himself to find Gabriel on top of him. As soon as the archangel relaxed he pulled himself out from under him and turned to find his brother who was just starting to come round and had Cas sitting next to him.
"Sammy?" He shouted, just to check his brother was really alright.
"I'm fine." Sam replied shaking his head before asking "What happened?"
"You got your ass handed to you by a five year old." Dean replied with smirk, which of course in turn spawned Sam's bitchface at him.
"Okay kids, lets discuss that later. Right now I think we should go see how the girls are doing don't you?" Gabriel asked pulling himself back up to standing. Oh dad did he ever feel like shit.
"Yeah, lets go." Dean replied nodding to him and pulling Sam up with Cas' assistance.
With that they all moved towards the door to go find Charlie and Dorothy, though Dean and Gabriel who were of course in front could hear Cas in the background saying to Sam. "I'm really sorry Sam. I did not want to have to knock you out but you were attacking my brother." in an earnest voice making them both smile. Though Dean did mentally note not to ever piss baby Cas off or threaten Gabriel in his hearing.
