Say When
Chapter 12
"It's been weeks. When exactly am i going to get my daughtersback.? I miss my girls." Haley confessed the emotion in her voice thick.
Lydia engulfed her daughter in a hug. Haley hugged her mom back tightly.
Haley took a deep breath. Once they pulled apart.
"I don't know what's worse then anger or the silence."
"If i knew that Nathan was going to react like this."
"When he approached me. I would of ignored him."
"I don't regret Lydia and Gwen. But i've been wondering if the boy i fell in love with all those years ago ever exactly existed."
"Did i day dream that entire summer.?" Haley asked.
"You did not. You're mom and I can confirm that."
"The love that happened there was real. It was obvious to anyone who saw the two of you together." Haley's father confirmed.
"The girls will be reminded sooner rather then later. Who's never let them down. If Nathan's mind ever does change. He will have his work cut out for him." Lydia explained.
"What am i supposed to do in the mean time.?" Haley asked.
"Just be their mom. You're tough too. Just because you stuck around. Doesn't make it right or fair how they are behaving." Lydia added in.
...
Nathan felt his heart dropped at the sight of his children awaiting him in the stadium parking lot.
He knew what they looked like. Haley had sent him pictures through the years.
Even though he never replied.
"I don't have any children. I have nothing to say to either of you." Nathan proclaimed.
"But dad. I just. We just. Lydia began to say. Her words circling she wasn't prepared for this kind of reaction.
"What did mom say to change you're mind.?" Gwen asked.
"Haley never wanted me in the life the three of you had."
"I'm just respecting what she wants." Nathan replied.
As he soon got into his car and drove away.
