Hello again. I would like to thank SummerMistedDragon for the wonderful review. I would also like to thank those of you who have followed and favoured since my last update. I love you guys.
So here we are, this is the last chapter set in season 9, episode 4 'Slumber Party'. So I hope you like it.
Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural.
They made there way slowly to the main entrance of the bunker and once there they saw Charlie leaning over the railing to the outside door.
"Ding dong bitches." was all she said with a smile holding up the key to Oz.
"Oh thank dad." everyone heard Gabriel mutter before a thud was heard followed by Cas calling his brothers name.
Gabriel knew he was running on fumes, but he also knew he had to make sure everyone was okay before he allowed himself to crash. Though when he had started carrying about this ragtag collection of people he couldn't be sure. But that's the way it goes he guessed. Entering the main entrance area of the bunker he looked up to see Charlie holding the key, he didn't hear what she said, he could already see the black spots dancing in front of his eyes. So with some words on his lips, dad knows what he said, he felt himself let go and fall into the darkness that had been clawing at him for so long.
Dean turned from looking at Charlie to see that the archangel was in a crumpled heap on the floor with Cas worriedly crouching next to him trying unsuccessfully to wake him up. It seemed to Dean like the only thing that had kept him concious this long was his stubbornness, and now the danger was over it had left him. Damn idiot of an angel he thought as he went over to him. Though he couldn't really put any heat into it. Gabriel had saved them all today at one point or another.
"Don't worry Cas. He'll be alright." Dean said as he crouched down next to the fledgling and gently checked for a pulse, just to make sure that Gabe hadn't done anything stupid like die on them. Once he found one he let out a sigh of relief and gave Cas a genuine smile. He then picked up the archangel, who for all his power really wasn't that heavy, and carried him to Cas and Gabriel's room, with the fledgling following at his heals.
Once there he gently settled Gabriel down on the bed and removed his shoes. He left everything else, there was no way he was undressing Gabriel thank you very much. So instead he went into his room and grabbed the blanket of the bed and lay it over the passed out archangel. Cas had climbed onto the bed and was lying down next to Gabriel just staring at him and stroking his hair, as if he could will his brother awake. Looking at him Dean knew that feeling and with another sigh he pulled over a chair and sat down to wait for Gabriel to wake. It seemed to him that recently he had spent far too much time in chairs waiting for people to wake up. Though at least this time he knew that Gabe would wake. There was no way he was even going to let the possibility that he wouldn't cross his mind. Hell no, Gabriel was an archangel. He would be fine.
Castiel watched Dean gently lay his brother down and without further ado he climbed up beside him and lay down. He gently stroked his brothers hair, releasing small amounts of grace in the hopes that it would help, though in truth he had given Gabriel all he had to give earlier. Now it seemed all they could do was wait. He knew his brother wasn't going to die. Archangels couldn't die, but that didn't stop him worrying about how fragile his big brother seemed. He had always seemed so powerful to Castiel. And yet now here he lay weak and defenceless. No he wasn't defenceless he had Castiel to protect him now. And Dean, he thought when he heard the chair been pulled close. As the righteous man sat down beside his brothers bed Castiel knew that he would not leave until Gabriel was better. That thought helped relieve some of Castiel's worry. They were all there and they were going to be okay. Because Dean had said so.
Gabriel didn't wake at all that day or night, nor did he wake the next. Dean was starting to get worried. What if Gabriel never woke? This was his fault. He had made Gabe heal Charlie and then made him fight him when he really wasn't up to it. Yeah this was definitely his fault.
Dorothy left to return to Oz and took Charlie with her, the red heads parting words to Dean being to make sure he looked after her saviour. Kevin went back to translating the tablet and Sam went back to research, though he also took over the role of making sure Kevin ate and slept and cooking for the three of them. Taking some things of his brothers shoulders.
Dean and Castiel rarely came out of the room the archangel was in. Dean wanted to be out helping his brother, but he couldn't leave Cas. The baby angel hadn't said a word since Gabriel's collapse, instead he just lay there on the bed next to him, stroking Gabriel's hair until Dean thought he would go mad from watching it. No matter how much he tried Castiel would not leave his brothers side, and as such neither would he. So Dean had found a slightly less painful way of sleeping in the chair and settled in to wait.
Four days after his collapse and Gabriel's eyelids fluttered, finally opening to reveal that he was in his and Castiel's room. Suddenly there was a quiet voice from beside him. A voice he would know anywhere.
"Gabriel." Castiel whispered, partly because he knew that Dean was asleep and partly from his voice's lack of use. He had been talking, just over the angelic connection to his brother in the hopes that it would bring him back to him soon.
"Hey little one. Ya miss me?" Gabriel replied equally quietly, though his was more from the fact that he could really use a glass of water right about now. With that thought he tried to sit up only to fall back against the bed. Damn he was still weak. Suddenly a hand slipped behind his back and helped ease him into a sitting position. But this hand didn't below to Castiel, it was too large. With his eyes he followed the hand to the plaid covered wrist and up. Oh he knew who was helping him, but he just couldn't quite believe it. Finally his eyes met the green of Dean's who just smiled a sleepy smile at him.
Once he was sat up Castiel flung himself at his brother, wrapping his arms around Gabriel's neck and crying into his shoulder tears of relief and joy while repeating his name. He couldn't cope with all the feelings inside of him at Gabriel being awake finally. All the things he had not let himself think now came tumbling into his mind. But his brother was back now. Everything was going to be alright, because Gabriel was back.
"There, there little one. It'll take more than a witch to get rid of me." Gabriel mumbled stroking circles into Castiel's back. He was so focused on Castiel that he didn't even notice Dean leave the room. But when Castiel had calmed down a few minutes later Gabriel glanced to the side to see Dean holding a glass of water which he handed to him without a word.
"Cheers Dean-o. But no need to stay. I'm fine." Gabriel said after he had drunk half the glass. He hated being this weak.
"You've been out for Four days Gabe. You are not fine. Nor are you leaving this bed until you can prove to me that you are." Dean replied in his no-nonsense voice that Gabriel had heard him use on Sam when he was still ill. No way. He wasn't becoming Dean freaking Winchester's next patient thank you very much.
"Oh no. Don't tell me you're going to mother me now as well are you Dean-o?" He smirked at him, hoping that he could wind him up enough to leave him alone. He was well aware that he didn't have the strength to get out of bed right now. But that didn't stop him from annoying Dean.
"It's not mothering to look out for family." Dean replied as he absently tucked in the blanket that had been messed up when Gabriel sat.
"Family?" Gabriel asked with the raise of his eyebrow. Since when had he become family to Dean Winchester?
"Yeah. Or at least the one who saves the life of family." Dean replied not looking the archangel in the eye. He wasn't about to admit that actually he had come to care for the pain in the ass. He had saved to many of the lives for Dean not to care a little bit about his. Plus there was Cas, who was Dean's best friend. Gabe was his brother after all. It kinda made him family by extension he guessed. Not that Dean would give the title to any other dickbag angels but there you go.
"That's more like it. But please Dean-o you do not need to fuss. I'm an archangel. I can take care of myself." Gabriel replied with a sigh as he settled back against the head board. Damn he could feel himself wanting to sleep again and he had only just woken up for dads sake.
"Really? Is that what you were doing when you collapsed? Taking care of yourself?" Dean asked sarcastically while he stood up. All Gabriel could think to reply to that was a humph.
"Thought so. I'll make you stay in that bed." Dean continued pointing at Gabriel as he made his way to the door.
"Hello archangel. You don't have that power." Gabriel argued back.
"At the moment I do Gabe. And until your better I will. So when you can throw me around, then you can get out of bed. Until then, I'm going to get you some food." Dean replied with a smirk as he went out the door. He quite enjoyed being able to boss Gabe around. After all it wasn't everyday you were more powerful than an archangel. Plus he knew that he had Cas on his side. He knew the fledgling wouldn't let Gabe get up until he was well enough to do so.
At that Gabriel groaned. Damn him. damn Dean Winchester to hell, even if he had already been there. He didn't need a bloody nurse maid.
And Castiel ignoring his brothers groans just curled up next to him holding him tight. He was just so glad that Gabriel was back.
