Hello again. I would like to thank kisshufan4ever for the wonderful review.

So this chapter is a little shorter as it is to answer a question (and maybe ask another) previously posed in this story. The bit in italics at the top is just a reminder of what happened when Gabriel did the spell to cloak Castiel's grace. I hope you like it.

Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural.

Then…

Gabriel reached out with his grace and he felt nothing from Castiel, he looked at him closely and all he saw was a human child in front of him. Switching his sight to soul sight he saw that Cas now sported the illusion of a human soul, all bright and colourful, flowing around him as a child's would.

He turned to Dean about to tell him it worked, forgetting he was still looking with his soul sight. What he saw stopped the words on his lips. Something was different with Dean's soul. Yes it was still the bright soul of the righteous man, but… he couldn't put his finger on it. With a shake of his head he brought his sight back to something close to human perception and looked a Dean. He didn't look any different. There was no outward change to him, just to his soul. Hmm, Gabriel would have to think about what that actually meant.

Now…

It took another three days before Gabriel was back to his old self. And as a way to celebrate and prove he was fine he, with a click of his fingers, turned Dean's hair bright pink. Which had Sam and Kevin rolling round on the floor laughing their heads off and Castiel looking confused. Dean on the other hand was not amused. Once he had finally persuaded Gabriel to change it back he and Sam headed out for a case they had found. Leaving Cas and Kevin in the dubious care of the archangel.

Not that Gabriel's care was dubious. He found himself cooking Kevin food, and yes he could cook (he had spent enough time on earth to learn after all), and making sure he slept regularly but other than that the time the Winchesters were away gave him something he really needed. Time to think about all that had happened over the last few weeks.

First there was Castiel and what had happened to him. But as Kevin still hadn't translated the tablet and he could find nothing in the men of letters books he wasn't any further along with answering that than he was his first day there. So instead he went to the next thing that puzzled him but he had yet had time to think about. Why it was that the spell to cloak Castiel had effected Dean. It wasn't really a problem but it was a puzzle, and Gabriel didn't like puzzles unsolved.

And so the day after Sam and Dean had left Gabriel sat down at the table in the library putting his feet on top of it as Dean always told him not to and watching Cas create something else amazing out of the Lego he thought.

He cast his mind back to all the times he had seen Dean-o's soul, trying to find what had changed. He thought back to the first time he had met the Winchesters, when they believed him to be a trickster and he had messed with them. He remembered Dean's soul then. It was bright and whole, pure as the soul of the righteous man should be. With no mark of evil upon it. Then he thought of all those Tuesdays, all the times he had killed him to teach Sam the lesson he refused to learn. He remembered Dean's soul from then as well. It was still pure and bright, but it was marked with the contract he had made with the crossroads demon.

The next time he had seen Dean-o's soul was in TV land. After his little holiday in hell. Now normally you would expect that a soul that had been to hell and had broken to be cracked and stained with the evil that it had done, but remembering Dean's soul now he realised that there was none of that. Oh his soul was different from before he went to hell, nothing could change that. But it was like someone had tried to heal it. Tried to remove the stain and make it whole once more. With that thought came the realisation of what had happened. This realisation caused Gabriel to open his eyes wide and drop his feet to the floor turning to the fledgling beside him.

Oh Cassie, what did you? He thought as he stared at his brother. Though it was a rhetorical question, he knew exactly what had happened. When Castiel had pulled Dean from hell he had not just rebuilt his body, but also his soul. Fixings the cracks the only way he knew how. With his grace. And that was why Dean's soul was different after the spell, because Castiel had laced it with his own grace so the righteous man could fulfil his task to save humanity. Gabriel just hoped that none of the other angels left in the world realised this. Because if they did, then one look at Dean-o's soul would tell them all they needed to know to find his brother. Though thinking about it, he was pretty sure that he and Cassie where the only two angels alive who had seen Dean's soul, or who cared enough about it to realise what he, Gabriel, had done. They would be fine, he was sure. He had to really think about it to work it out, and how many of his brothers and sisters would sit down and do that?

Castiel was happy, he believed that was the right word. His brother was back to the Gabriel he knew, his strong grace radiating off of him and wrapping round Castiel like a warm blanket. And though he was worried for Sam and Dean he knew they had each other, and hunting was what they did. Neither of them would let anything happen to the other and as such he was reasonably confident they would return. Yes he was happy. He had his drawing equipment and this new medium of Lego to build with. He loved creating things from the 3d blocks and had amassed quite a few models, though he didn't like the idea of breaking them up to build something new. As such over the last few days Sam had been out and brought him more Lego to build with. He was happily building away when suddenly Gabriel's feet slammed against the floor, turning to his brother he was about to ask if he was alright only to find him staring at him as if he was completely in awe of the fledgling. This caused Castiel to frown, but before he could mention anything about it the look left Gabriel's face and he smiled at his little brother, though didn't speak a word. And Castiel being the good little angel he was didn't want to question the archangel. If Gabriel wished him to know he would tell him. With that thought Castiel returned to his building.
