"Is he…" Beth began before she was cut off by Bobby.
"I'll tell you in the car. Just quickly get ready." Bobby told them before he walked out of the room. Samantha and Jess ran upstairs, quickly putting on some fresh clothes, and grabbing some clothes for Beth before heading downstairs. They helped Beth before making their way outside to find Bobby loading up the impala with his duffel bag as well as the girls that they had ready near the door if they ever needed to leave. They helped Beth out of her wheelchair, helping her stand and get into the impala before placing the wheelchair in the boot. Samantha and Jess got in the back seat and Bobby got in the front seat, starting the car and driving away. They drove in silence for a few minutes, waiting for Bobby to explain what was happening before their impatience got the better of them.
"Sooo…" Jess started.
"You said you were gonna explain in the car and well we're in the car." Beth finished.
"Dean found Sam, they're okay. You girls were right; Lucifer broke out of his cage." Bobby explained. The girls were silent, they knew this already, but weren't about to admit he had spoken to them, although this news made it all seem so much more real. "Dean wants his car." Bobby added
"Why are we in such a hurry if we just have to get the impala to Dean?" Samantha asked. Bobby had made it seem like they had to get there as soon as possible, and although Dean loved his Impala, surely there were more important things like Lucifer.
"Well turns out the angels have lost the Michael sword, and that's just what we need to take Lucifer down, or at least put him back in the cage. Some girl came and gave the boys a message from Chuck, seems she was quite a fan of Sam. Wouldn't take her hands of him." Bobby chuckled slightly at this, as did the girls. "Chuck gave us the supposed location of the sword but the boys can't make any sense of it." Bobby explained.
"What was it?" Jess asked wanting to know if maybe they could figure it out
"In a castle, on a hill made of 42 dogs" Bobby said not taking his eyes of the road
"I knew Chuck was on drugs" Beth said smirking slightly at her own joke.
The drive was a long one from Bobby's to New Jersey, where the boys were currently staying in a motel. Bobby told the girls he was going to drive right through, meaning he would be driving all day and all night, which seemed completely out of character. Even Dean wouldn't drive that long. The girls complained they needed to eat and stretch their legs but Bobby refused to pull over.
When they arrived in New Jersey it was very early morning. The town the boys were in was Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. Bobby pulled up to the motel and the girls were quick to get out of the car
"I can finally stretch my legs" Beth said sarcastically as the two girls helped her into her wheelchair while Bobby walked into the motel already knowing what room the boys were in
"Somethings off with him" Samantha said as she wheeled Beth into the motel
"Yeah no one can drive that long without stopping, not even Dean would do that to us" Jess said
"He doesn't even seem tired after all that driving." Beth pointed out.
"He doesn't seem like him" Samantha declared
"He's probably just running off adrenaline or something" Beth suggested, by this point the girls had made it into the motel room to find Bobby and the boys talking. When they entered and awkwardly stood, well Beth sat, just in the doorway of the motel room, Sam and Dean turned around to stare at the girls, who looked absolutely exhausted, staring wide eyed at the boys like the first time they had meet. The girls seemed like they didn't know how to react. The boys however were relieved to see that the girls were okay, they had managed to keep them safe and stop the demons from getting them.
"You girls okay?" Dean asked noticing how tired and worn out they looked
"Uh huh" Beth said while yawning
"We drove straight here, just tired" Samantha said
"You didn't stop?" Sam asked. The girls shook their heads in response "not even for food?" he asked shocked. The girls again shook their heads.
"Get some shut eye, we'll deal with everything else later" Dean said gesturing to the two beds in the room. Samantha and Jess helped Beth get into one bed, and then they got into the other. They all fell asleep as soon as their heads hit the pillow, tiredness winning out over their fear of Lucifer entering their dreams again.
Luckily for the girls, Lucifer didn't visit them during their sleep. They woke up several hours later, their tummies growling. Bobby was sitting at the table reading through a book, trying to find anything he could.
"Where's Sam?" Jess asked looking around the room
"He's gone to do some reading at an old church," Dean said "To see what he can find on this Michael sword"
"Least he can do" Bobby muttered not looking up from his book. The girls sat in silence for a few minutes before one of their stomachs's growling broke the silence.
"Why don't you girls go get some food" Dean suggested. He'd noticed the girls had been unusually quiet since they got here, he told himself it was because they were tired and hungry and maybe a little scared of Lucifer but he could tell it was something else, but he wasn't going to question them. The girls nodded at his suggestion to get food and got out of bed and got dressed before heading out the door.
"We have freedom" Jess said once they were out of the motel.
"I never thought I'd live to see the day where Dean willingly lets us go out by ourselves" Beth said smiling slightly
"Guess we're no longer in danger" Samantha said
"Well…." Jess said trailing off. They still were in some form of danger especially if Lucifer wanted them.
"Yeah but we're not telling Sam and Dean about that" Beth said "They'll just over react and we'll be on lockdown again"
"So where are we going to get food from?" Beth asked.
"I dunno did you see any places on the way in here?" Samantha asked
"I was still asleep on the way in here." Jess answered
"So that's a no?" Samantha asked
"Yes you idiot." Jess muttered
"How about somewhere that's wheelchair friendly?" Beth suggested helpfully
"You could just wait outside." Samantha said
"Fuck off." Beth said angrily. The girls wandered around for about twenty minutes enjoying the freedom they now had before finding a cafe that looked nice and did takeaways.
"Should we get the boys something too?" Jess asked
"Yeah just get them burger or something" Beth said
"What do you guys want?" Samantha asked
"Breakfasty type food" Beth replied
"Dude it's like three in the afternoon, why would you want breakfast?" Jess replied
"Because I just fucking woke up" Beth snapped
"Yeah your mood gives that away" Samantha muttered
"Yeah but you know what I mean I just woke up and I don't exactly want anything big" Beth explained
"Yeah that actually makes sense" Samantha said "Okay" Samantha replied before going up to the woman behind the counter and ordering the food for everyone while Jess stayed with Beth in the wheelchair. They got their food and then started the walk back to the motel when Samantha's phone started ringing. She quickly handed what she was holding over to the other two, looking quickly at who was calling - Dean - before answering. "Hey Deany what-" she began before Dean spoke quickly.
"Bobby's in the hospital I need you girls to get there and stay with Bobby."
"Where are you and Sam? Is Bobby okay?" Samantha spoke quickly, worried, while the other girls stared confused, not having heard the other half of the conversation.
"Look I don't have time to explain but we've got a lead. Just get to Bobby and stay there. I'll call you later."
"Dean-" Samantha tried but Dean had hung up.
"What's going on?" Beth asked
"I don't really know. Bobby's in the hospital, Dean didn't explain why he just said we have to go and stay there. Dean said they have a lead or something." Samantha explained.
"Where's the hospital?" Jess asked
"I think I saw a sign pointing towards the hospital on the way to the cafe." Beth answered
"We could always ask somebody." Samantha suggested
"Hahahahahaha fuck off." Beth replied never one to ask strangers to help, last time they did that it turned out to be demons and although they weren't trying to kill them anymore the fear was still there.
"Ugh fine" Samantha said as she started walking back the way they came looking for a sign to the hospital, Jess and Beth behind her. They eventually found the hospital making their way inside and up to the lady at the desk.
"Can I help you?" The woman asked
"Uh we're looking for our Dad. We uh haven't been told anything. He's an elderly man" Samantha answered trying to sound upset.
"Uh yes we had an elderly man brought in by two men earlier, but they didn't give us any details. Sorry to ask but can you fill out this form and I'll go see if he's out of surgery."
"Okay" Samantha said taking the form from the woman and turning to Beth and Jess, clear worry on their faces. Bobby had needed surgery, so what had happened to him. Jess and Samantha took a seat, Beth still in her wheelchair. The girls filled out Bobby's basic details as best they could, slightly unsure on some and making up what they didn't know since the boys weren't picking up their phones when they tried to call. The woman returned shortly after.
"Uh you three your father is just out of surgery and still waking up. If you follow me I'll take you to his room and let the doctor fill you in on the details." The girls got up, Jess pushing Beth in the wheelchair, as they followed the woman. Samantha handed her the form, the woman checking it as she walked. She led them down several corridors before she gestured for them to enter a room. The three girls went in to see Bobby half asleep in the hospital bed. His injuries not obvious to the girls.
"The doctor will be in shortly." The nurse told them before exiting the room. Not a minute later the doctor walked in.
"Uh you three must be his daughters." The doctor questioned.
"Yes. What happened? Is he going to be okay?" Jess asked
"Well your father was stabbed in the abdomen. He's sustained some quite serious injuries. I'm afraid it's unlikely your father will ever walk again." The doctor explained sincerely. The three girls were shocked, Bobby wasn't going to take this well.
"Are you sure? You said it's unlikely but that's not definite right there's still a chance?" Beth said quickly, hope in her voice. It seemed so unfair, she had been lucky, the knife missing all her internal organs, while Bobby was stuck in a wheelchair forever.
"It would be a serious miracle; it's in God's hands." The doctor tried to comfort her, but this didn't make the situation any better. God hadn't even stopped the apocalypse. "I'm very sorry. I'll be back to check on him shortly once he's fully awake." He said before leaving the room. All three girls sat in silence as they waited for Bobby to wake up and the doctor to return. The girls waited for half an hour waiting for Bobby to wake up. Jess was pacing up and down, Samantha was leaning against the wall shifting her position every few minutes and Beth was sat in the corner twiddling her thumbs.
"What's goin' on?" Bobby mumbled from the bed looking around the room at the three girls
"All we know is that you got stabbed" Samantha said standing up straight and walking to Bobby.
"We were hoping you'd be able to tell us what happened" Beth said "Dean didn't exactly explain anything; we got told by a doctor that you got stabbed, we have no idea where Sam and Dean are"
"We should get the doctor in here" Samantha said
"I'll go" Jess said leaving the room. She returned a few minutes later with the Doctor who was in the room earlier
"Ah Mr Bourne you're awake good, now I'm afraid I have some bad news for you" he said almost cheerfully causing everyone in the room to glare at him "I'm afraid that the knife has done some permanent damage meaning I'm afraid-"
"I get it you're afraid now cut to the point, boy" Bobby snapped
"It's unlikely that you'll be able to walk again" the doctor said
"'Unlikely to walk again'?!" Bobby said outraged "Why, you snot-nosed son of a bitch! Wait till I get out of this bed!" he yelled
"Bobby calm down" Beth said
"Easy for you to say, you're gonna be able to walk again!" he yelled turning on Beth "You've been acting like a spoilt little brat ever since you were put in that wheelchair, but at least you can still walk" he spat
"Bobby!" Samantha yelled shocked "Yes this sucks but there is no need for that" she told him off in a motherly voice before turning to the doctor. "I'm sorry he's just..." she started before Bobby cut her off.
"Don't you talk for me." He yelled at Samantha causing her to flinch slightly as she's not use to being yelled at, and then turned to the doctor. "I'll use my game leg and kick your friggin' ass!" He yelled angrily, causing the doctor to flee from the room, not used to such treatment. "Yeah, you better run!" Bobby yelled after him before turning to look at the three girls.
"You believe that yahoo?" Bobby asked now slightly calmer.
"Can you feel your legs Bobby? Can you move them?" Samantha asked waiting for an answer. She took Bobby's silence as a no. "He wouldn't tell you that if it wasn't true. But don't worry the boys will figure something out." She said hoping to make him feel better. The group fell into silence each in their own world, wondering about what was to come. The three girls were awoken by the sound of a phone ringing, none of them realising they fell asleep. Samantha pulled her cell out of her pocket, checking the caller before answering and putting the phone on speaker.
"Hey Dean, you're on speaker." Samantha answered.
"Me and Sammy are on our way back we'll uh, grab all our stuff from the motel and meet you at the hospital. How's Bobby?" Dean asked. All three girls looked at each other unsure of how to explain to the boys Bobby's condition.
"He's okay." Beth lied quickly.
"You girls are terrible liars. How's Bobby?" Dean asked more forcefully this time.
"He's alive. Look we'll explain when you get here, but…" Samantha trailed off
"But what?" Dean asked
"It's... not good Dean." Samantha murmured quickly. They could hear mumbled words in the background for a few moments before Dean replied.
"We'll be there soon." He told them before hanging up the phone.
"How do you think they'll take it?" Samantha asked sighing.
"About as good as Bobby." Beth muttered as if it was obvious.
"Why do you think they took off so quickly?" Jess asked
"I don't know, but I know one thing." Beth said seriously.
"What's that?" Jess asked confused.
"They have some serious explaining to do." Beth replied.
"God you guys sound like Sam and Dean." Samantha muttered.
When the boys arrived at the hospital, it was early morning. There was a nurse behind the desk looking through files, and she looked confused as to why someone was here so early.
"Hey we're ah here to see our father Bobby and pick up our three sisters. They stayed with him over night." Sam told the woman.
"Oh yes, we normally don't let people stay but it was so late and they said they had nowhere to go. He's in room 34, but I was just about to go do my round so I can take you to him if that's alright?" The nurse smiled at Sam
"Sure thing." Sam smiled. They followed the woman who gestured to the room and walked in. The girls were fast asleep. They looked exhausted and the boys were unsure on whether they should wake them. The woman checked the machines Bobby was hooked up to and wrote something down on her clipboard.
"I'll tell the doctor you're here." she smiled and left the room, closing the door behind her. The girls and Bobby jerked awake.
"Hey Bobby, hey girls." Dean smiled
"We have names Dean." Jess mumbled still half asleep, the other two girls nodding their heads in agreement.
"Where have you two chuckleheads been?" Bobby asked.
"One of Dad's lock ups. Turns out that was a dead end." Dean explained
"Why'd you go there?" Beth asked confused
"Chuck told us the angels had lost the Michael sword." Sam shook his head remembering Becky.
"What's the Michael sword?" Samantha asked confused. When they had got to the motel they had been too tired to stay up and Bobby hadn't explained anything when he told them about it on the way.
"Well it's meant to be what Michael used to put Lucifer in the cage. We thought if we could get the Michael sword we could take him down again. So Chuck gave us a clue which led to our Dad's lock up. When we got there, Zachariah and two of his little buddies show up. Turns out they had implanted the idea into Chucks head so that we would show up." Dean explained further
"Why would they do that?" Beth asked
"Because I'm the Michael sword." Dean said rolling his eyes.
"Dean isn't it meant to be a sword. That's why it's called Michael's sword. What're they gonna do chop your dick off and use it as a sword?" Beth said seriously not cracking a smile at all.
"Unnecessary mental images! Although that is kinda funny. Dick war" Samantha said laughing.
"God no, I'm Michaels vessel. I'm what he's meant to wear when he comes to earth and kills thousands of people fighting the devil." Dean said very seriously.
"What?" Jess stopped laughing, slight understanding creeping up on her.
"You heard me. Michael wants to wear me to the prom." Dean was clearly uncomfortable with this. The doctor walked in before anyone could reply.
"Hello Mr Bourne. How are you feeling this morning?" the doctor asked walking over to Bobby's bedside
"Well I'd be a hell of a lot better if I could get out of this bed." Bobby said angry but calmer than he had been earlier.
"I can get a nurse to get you a wheelchair if you would like?" the doctor asked
"I don't need no damn wheelchair." Bobby told him, there was no way he was going to be stuck in one of those for the rest of his life.
"Mr Bourne it's the only option. Your legs aren't responsive." The doctor tried to argue but Bobby wasn't having it.
"What do you mean his legs aren't responsive?" Dean asked worried. The doctor turned around to look at Dean who was standing by the window.
"I'm afraid your father has sustained injuries to his nerves and spine. It's unlikely that he'll be able to walk again." the doctor explained sympathetically.
"Unlikely?" Sam asked picking up on the doctor's word choice.
"Chances are very low. I'm sorry but... I wouldn't get your hopes up." the doctor looked grimly before he left the room, announcing a nurse would be in shortly to get Bobby into a wheelchair.
"Screw him. You'll be fine." Dean told Bobby
"So, let me ask the million-dollar question. What do we do now?" Sam asked
"Well... We save as many as we can for as long as we can, I guess. It's bad. Whoever wins, heaven or hell, we're boned." Bobby said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"What if we win?" Dean asked. Everyone in the room turned to stare at him confused, how were they ever going to win this? "I'm serious. I mean, screw the angels and the demons and their crap apocalypse. Hell, they want to fight a war; they can find their own planet. This one's ours, and I say they get the hell off it. We take 'em all on. We kill the devil. Hell, we even kill Michael if we have to. But we do it our own damn selves." Dean finished confidently.
"And how are we supposed to do all this, genius?" Bobby asked sarcastically
"I got no idea." Dean shrugged his shoulders. "But what I do have is a GED and a give-'em-hell attitude, and I'll figure it out." Dean added, nodding his head
"You are nine kinds of crazy, boy." Bobby shook his head, used to Dean's overconfidence.
"It's been said." Dean replied before walking towards Bobby and patting him on the shoulder. "Listen, you stay on the mend. We'll see you in a bit." Dean told him and then headed for the door. "You girls coming?" he asked stopping. Samantha and Jess quickly got up, Samantha walking over to push Beth's wheelchair and follow Dean and Sam to the door.
"Sam?" Bobby called causing everyone to stop and turn around to look at Bobby.
"I was awake. I know what I said back there. I just want you to know that...that was the demon talking. I ain't cutting you out, boy. Not ever." Bobby told him. Sam paused for a moment before sighing.
"Thanks, Bobby." Sam was grateful.
"You're welcome. I deserve a damn medal for this, but...you're welcome." Bobby smiled. The girls followed the boys out to the impala.
"You know, I was thinking, Dean—maybe we could go after the Colt." Sam suggested
"What's the colt?" Jess asked from behind the boys, but they ignored her comment.
"Why? What difference would that make?" Dean asked, his confidence gone.
"Well, we could use it on Lucifer. I mean, you just said back there—" Sam began confused; Dean had been ready to kill anything before.
"I just said a bunch of crap for Bobby's benefit." Dean explained cutting Sam off. He stopped walking as if that was obvious, and Sam stopped turning to look at him. "I mean, I'll fight. I'll fight till the last man, but let's at least be honest. I mean, we don't stand a snowball's chance, and you know that. I mean, hell, you of all people know that." Dean rolled his eyes, shocked that Sam even thought that they had any chance. He began walking around Sam, heading for the driver's side door.
"Dean…" Sam turned around while Dean stopped and turned to look back at Sam. The girls were stood behind Sam, watching as the two boys talked. Sam sighed, unsure of how to put things.
"Is there something you want to say to me?" Sam asked bluntly. Dean just stared at Sam, not answering.
"I tried, Sammy. I mean, I really tried. But I just can't keep pretending that everything's all right. Because it's not. And it's never going to be. You chose a demon over your own brother—" Dean explained causing Sam to roll his eyes. "—and look what happened." Dean continued, everything he had been holding back coming out.
"I would give anything—anything—to take it all back." Sam tried apologizing, but it didn't matter.
"I know you would. And I know how sorry you are. I do. But, man...you were the one that I depended on the most. And you let me down in ways that I can't even…" Dean paused, struggling for words. "I'm just—I'm having a hard time forgiving and forgetting here. You know?" Dean tried explaining the best he could. The girls felt awkward watching this go down, it was a conversation they should be having on their own, not in front of them. Sam nodded his head, understanding Dean's problem.
"What can I do?" Sam asked.
"Honestly? Nothing." Dean replied. Sam nodded at this, looking down. It didn't surprise him.
"I just don't...I don't think that we can ever be what we were. You know?" Dean continued to explain himself. Sam nodded again, not surprised.
"I just don't think I can trust you." Dean told him the cold truth. Sam looked up, his face shocked. He hadn't expected that from his brother. Dean shook his head, and began walking back to the driver's side door. He paused for a moment to look back at Sam before getting into the driver's seat. The girls stood there awkwardly unsure of what to do, until Sam went and hopped in the front seat, and so they followed, getting into the back of the Impala.
…..
Sam and Dean and the girls had been in and out visiting Bobby at the hospital. It had been awkward for a while, after the talk Sam and Dean had. They were all awfully quiet, no one knowing what to say. Sam and Dean never told the girls about how Lucifer rose, or why the seals started breaking in the first place, and the girls never told Sam and Dean about Lucifer visiting their dreams. They were currently at the hospital, the girls spread throughout the room, Bobby in a wheelchair staring out the window, Sam was standing in the doorway, watching Bobby, unsure of where Dean was until he came up behind him.
"It's been like three days now?" Dean asked, looking at Bobby, who still wasn't talking. Sam sighed "We got to cheer him up." Dean decided. "Maybe I'll give him a backrub."
"Dean." Sam said exasperated. He wasn't helping.
"Well, what, then?" Dean asked
"Look...we might have to wrap our heads around the idea that Bobby might not just bounce back this time." Sam said seriously. He paused, looking down at the envelope his just realised was in Dean's hand.
"What's in the envelope?" Sam asked
"Went to radiology." Dean told him opening up the envelope, and pulling out an x-ray of his chest. "Got some glamour shots." Dean said handing it to Sam. "Let's just say the doctors are baffled." Sam stared at the x-ray with writing all over the ribs.
"Holy crap." Sam was shocked
"Yeah, well, Cas carved you one, too." Dean said. Castiel suddenly appeared in the room, just in front of Sam and Dean. "Speak of the devil." The girls were slightly confused at Castiel showing up. Last they saw him; he had told them he served heaven, not man.
"I thought we were hidden from you?" Dean asked, raising an eyebrow.
"You are, these girls aren't." Castiel answered.
"We have name-" Beth began before Bobby cut her off.
"Enough foreplay." Bobby interrupted, speaking for the first time, causing everyone to look over at him. "Get over here and lay your damn hands on." Bobby added. No one moved, so Bobby looked over his shoulder. "Get healing. Now." Bobby said more forcefully this time.
"I can't." Castiel answered. Bobby turned his wheelchair around to face Castiel
"Say again?" Bobby was not happy. Castiel made his way over to Bobby
"I'm cut off from heaven and much of heaven's power. Certain things I can do. Certain things I can't." Castiel explained
"You're telling me you lost your mojo just in time to get me stuck in this trap the rest of my life?" Bobby voice rose towards the end.
"I'm sorry." Castiel apologized.
"Shove it up your ass." Bobby told him turning back to the window. Dean turned to Sam.
"At least he's talking now." Dean said quietly.
"I heard that." Bobby muttered. Castiel walked back over to Sam and Dean who were now just inside the doorway. The girls kept quiet watching.
"I don't have much time. We need to talk." Castiel said directly to Dean.
"Okay." Dean said slightly confused.
"Your plan to kill Lucifer." Castiel began
"Yeah. You want to help?" Dean asked
"No. It's foolish. It can't be done." Castiel told him. The girls agreed, but kept to themselves.
"Oh. Thanks for the support." Dean said sarcastically, smiling.
"But I believe I have the solution. There is someone besides Michael strong enough to take on Lucifer. Strong enough to stop the apocalypse." Castiel ignored Dean's sarcasm, straight back to business.
"Who's that?" Sam asked. Castiel turned to look at Sam before he answered
"The one who resurrected me and put you on that airplane. The one who began everything. God." Castiel answered. Sam and Dean turned to look at each other sceptical. The girls eyes widened, they were going to bring God into this. "I'm gonna find God." Castiel said confidently. Dean turned around and quickly closed the door, so that no one could hear their conversation before turning back to Castiel
"God?" Dean asked almost unsure if Castiel was sane.
"Yes." Castiel answered immediately.
"God." Dean said again, still unsure.
"Yes! He isn't in heaven. He has to be somewhere." Castiel replied, annoyed at Dean for not taking him seriously.
"Try New Mexico. I hear he's on a tortilla." Dean joked.
"No, he's not on any flatbread." Castiel answered confused.
"Listen, Chuckles, even if there is a God, he is either dead—and that's the generous theory—" Dean was cut off by Castiel
"He is out there, Dean." Castiel was sure of himself.
"—or he's up and kicking and doesn't give a rat's ass about any of us." Dean finished. Castiel glared at Dean "I mean, look around you, man. The world is in the toilet. We are literally at the end of days here, and he's off somewhere drinking booze out of a coconut. All right?" Dean tried to convince Castiel.
"Enough." Castiel stopped him "This is not a theological issue. It's strategic. With God's help, we can win."
"It's a pipe dream, Cas." Dean replied. Castiel moved closer to Dean, staring him down, but Dean didn't stand down
"I killed two angels this week. My brothers. I'm hunted. I rebelled. And I did it, all of it, for you, and you failed. You and your brother destroyed the world—" Castiel was talking quietly, but you could hear the anger in his voice. Sam looked down as Castiel said this, knowing it was his fault. The girls were confused at this, Sam and Dean hadn't explained to them what happened. They just assumed the both of them failed to save it, but the way Castiel put it, made it seem like it was their fault. Like they were the ones who made Lucifer rise.
"—and I lost everything, for nothing. So keep your opinions to yourself." Castiel's voice got quieter and quieter, almost to a whisper.
"You didn't drop in just to tear us a new hole. What is it you want?" Bobby broke up the conflict, turning around in his wheelchair. Castiel didn't back away from Dean.
"I did come for something. An amulet." Castiel answered, turning to look at Bobby.
"An amulet? What kind?" Bobby asked
"Very rare. Very powerful. It burns hot in God's presence. It'll help me find him." Castiel answered, stepping away from Dean
"A God EMF?" Sam asked slightly unsure. Castiel nodded in reply.
"Well, I don't know what you're talking about. I got nothin like that." Bobby shrugged.
"I know. You don't." Castiel answered Bobby and then turned to look at Dean, dropping his gaze to Dean's necklace and then back up again.
"What, this?" Dean asked confused, it was just a necklace.
"May I borrow it?" Castiel asked
"No." Dean answered straight away. There was no way he was letting Castiel away with his necklace.
"Dean. Give it to me." Castiel didn't give up, determined. Dean didn't answer, realising how serious Castiel was.
"Alright, I guess." Dean said taking off the Amulet. Dean held it out, but as Castiel went to reach for it, he pulled it back
"Don't lose it." Dean told her seriously, before handing it to Castiel, who took it. "Great. Now I feel naked." Dean muttered, causing the girls to laugh slightly.
"I'll be in touch." Castiel said, before disappearing with a flutter of wings.
"When you find God, tell him to send legs!" Bobby yelled. The room was silent for a minute before Bobby's phone started ringing. Bobby picked it up and answered.
"Hello?" Bobby answered. There was some muffled yelling on the other end of the line that the others couldn't make out.
"I can't hear you." Bobby replied. Some more muffled words were heard.
"Where are you?" Bobby asked. There was a muffled reply.
"Colora—Colorado?" Bobby muttered.
"River Pass, Colorado?" Bobby checked
"Rufus? You there? Ruf—Rufus?" Bobby yelled, but the phone cut off just after gunshots were heard. Bobby turned to Sam and Dean. "That was Rufus, he says the whole town is possessed by demons, at least that's what I can make out anyway. You boys better go check it out." Bobby told them.
"Yeah alright." Dean muttered, moving towards the door, with Sam following behind him. He stopped for a second and turned to the three girls. "You lot stay here with Bobby, head to the motel later if you have to." Dean handed them the key before turning back and walking out the door with Sam.
"Great what do we do now?" Beth muttered.
…
The girls had spent most of the day with Bobby at the hospital, before heading out to find dinner and then back to the motel. The boys didn't call, and the girls went to sleep, hoping Lucifer wouldn't visit them in their dreams. The next morning, when the girls finally woke, they were relieved to have some relaxation, and not be made to rush around by the guys. They took their time getting ready, before heading out for breakfast and then to see how Bobby was at the hospital. They spent the day with Bobby again having nothing better to do. Sam or Dean didn't call, and when the girls tried to call them, they were out of signal range. They went and got dinner and headed back to the motel like the night before. The next day continued much like the previous until later that evening when Dean showed up at the hospital.
"Where's Sam?" was the main question they had.
"Sam's gone to do his own thing." was all Dean would tell them. They left the hospital and got dinner, before heading back to the motel. Dean was quiet and in his own world. Whenever the girls would speak to him, he wouldn't reply, or even take any notice. What the girls didn't know was that Dean was deep in thought, about the whole deal with Sam, with Lucifer rising, and with his guilt that he had been the one that begun it all. If he hadn't given up in hell, if he hadn't said yes. These girls would have lived normal lives. They would have gone to school, to university, found a great job, got married and had kids. But here they were, in a world of despair, when the only outcome he saw was death. He had taken so much away from them, and he would be risking so much more, if he brought them into this last war. Fighting against Lucifer, and most likely getting killed in the process. At least if they could live normally, then maybe they would survive. Maybe somehow they would find a way to stop the devil, or at least save some of the population. By morning he had decided what he thought would be best. They were still at the motel, getting ready for the day.
"Hey girls can I uh… can I talk to you for a minute?" Dean began. All three of the girls turned to look at him confused as he gestured for them to sit down on the bed.
"Okay." They agreed, Samantha and Jess going to sit on the end of the bed, while Beth moved her wheelchair beside it.
"You girls have to go." Dean began
"What do you mean?" Beth asked.
"Look the demons only wanted you because you were seals, now they don't need you anymore. You girls are free. This life isn't for you. You can go be normal, find a job, or a guy. Go do something." Dean explained
"What are you saying? You're just going to kick us out? Where are we going to go? How are we going to do anything relatively normal? We're wanted in New Zealand for crying out loud, we're not even legally in this country." Jess pointed out.
"Dean you're all we have left. You and Sam and Bobby, even Cas. You're our only family Dean." Samantha tried to convince Dean but in fact made it worse.
"Me and Sam and Bobby, even Cas, we took you on because that's what we had to do. You didn't deserve to die. And I felt bad, because it was my fault. I was the one who broke that first seal. I was the one that started it all. It's my fault you're families are dead." The girls were shocked, and broken when Dean told them this. They wanted to be mad at him. But he had done so much for them. Been so kind to them. "I felt like I owed it to you, to help you survive. I've done my job." Dean continued. He knew what he was going to say next was all a lie, and he felt terrible for saying it, but he knew the girls would never leave otherwise. "Sam and Bobby they're my family. You're just three girls who I helped. That's all." Dean watched as their faces dropped, and he had to look away. He could hear their tears in their voices when they spoke next, and he didn't think he could handle it.
"That's it? Are you kidding me?" Beth yelled.
"Does Sam know you're doing this? Does Bobby?" Samantha asked
"No. They don't care." Dean told them. The three girls tried not to cry, but their hearts were breaking, they were losing everything.
"Fine." Jess stood up, grabbing her bag,Samantha did the same, grabbing Beth's bag as well as her own.
"I can't believe you Dean." Samantha muttered upset walking past Dean and out the door. Jess pushed Beth's wheelchair stopping by the door, before turning around.
"Go fuck yourself." Beth yelled angrily, before Jess turned back around and pushed Beth out the door, slamming it behind her and with that they were gone.
