"Really not a good idea, Dean" Jess muttered
"He can't hear us" Samantha said sadly "he'll never be able to hear us"
"Unless we learn how to haunt" Beth said, a slight bit of hope sparkling in her eyes
"They're giving us a hunter's funeral, I doubt we're gonna be around much longer" Jess stated staring at the ground
"What do you think happens when we die? Like heaven and hell are real we know that much, but we're descendants of Lucifer, so are we doomed?" Samantha asked
"I don't know, probably." Beth agreed. None of the girls wanted to think about this, but they had to face the facts.
"So is this it? We're not going to see each other anymore." Jess said, a slight bit of emotion coming through. Being dead and a ghost hadn't changed much, except that people couldn't see or hear them, especially those they wanted to hear them.
"I don't want to leave you guys." Samantha said, all the girls grouping into a big hug.
"I'm sure we'll see each other in the halls" Beth tried to smile, but it fell.
"It's like we've just finished school and we're all going different places, except we're not, we're going to hell" Samantha said blatantly
I'm gonna miss your stupid faces." Jess smiled, using one of their old jokes.
"I'm gonna miss your stupid faces too" Beth smiled
"I love you guys." Samantha said, pulling away from the hug
"We love you too." Beth and Jess said together, before their attention was turned back to the guys.
"Dean why won't you even try to bring them back?" Sam was angry, the girls could see it in his face.
"You heard Cas, he can't bring them back, and he doesn't have the juice. And they're better off at peace." Dean argued.
"But what if they're not at peace Dean, what if they're in hell? They're descendants of Lucifer after all." Sam reasoned. He didn't believe what Dean was doing was right.
"Sam the girls have done nothing wrong to end up in hell, regardless of their family line." Castiel finally spoke up, attempting to reason with Sam and end the arguments.
"Don't you guys care?" Sam yelled trying to persuade them.
"Those girls have suffered enough, let them rest." Dean stated, tired of this argument. Sam stared at Dean for a moment, angry that Dean wasn't making any effort, before he turned around and left the motel room. "I'm right, I know I'm right" Dean muttered mainly to himself "they've suffered too much, they're just kids, they don't deserve to be stuck here to become vengeful spirits that someday some hunter is gonna dig up and burn, it's better that we do it, a proper send-off"
"He makes a good point" Jess said
"Yeah someone should get that through Sammy's head" Beth agreed.
"He's just struggling to let go is all, he'll come round" Samantha said sitting on the bed
"There's a weird energy in this room" Castiel said suddenly "not just Lucifer's energy, a spirit"
"The girls?" Dean asked hopefully, but also sadly. If the girls were here it meant that giving them a hunter's funeral was all the more necessary.
"It is possible" Castiel said considering the idea. His powers were not strong enough to do much of anything.
"Girls I hope you forgive me for all this." Dean spoke to nothing in particular, looking around the room. He hoped the girls could hear him.
"It's not your fault Dean" Castiel tried to comfort Dean.
"Yes it is Cas." Dean disagreed.
"No, if Lucifer had plans for them, there would be no way to stop them." Castiel contended.
"That's not what matters Cas, I should have been here, I should have fought with them." Dean stated.
"You're no good to us dead Dean." Castiel was attempting to reason with Dean to not do something stupid.
"I don't care what you say Cas, or Sam, Lucifer's going to die." Dean muttered quietly. Castiel stared at him for a moment, knowing it was useless. Sighing, he disappeared with a flutter of wings.
…
The boys drove to meet Bobby about halfway, in Casper, Wyoming. The plan was to give the girls a hunter's funeral, and then find and kill Lucifer. Plain and simple.
"Really guys, we're stopping in Casper, you're gonna burn our bodies in Casper of all places." Beth rose her eyebrows at the boys, had they heard her, they might have found it funny.
"Maybe they're hoping we'll meet Casper the friendly ghost." Jess said in her little kid voice, excited.
"Jess Casper the friendly ghost is not real." Samantha told her
"If all this is real then Casper could be real" Jess argued frowning and crossing her arms like a child.
Dean and Sam still weren't talking properly. Sam was mad, although he knew Dean was right, he still didn't think this was a good idea, without even trying to bring them back.
"When did Bobby say he'll meet us?" Sam asked.
"Shouldn't be long. We uh, might as well start getting ready." Dean muttered.
The boys had wrapped the girls up, placing them on a pyre of wood. They had collected all of their belongings, placing them with the girls. Dean was holding onto the possessions that the girls had on them when they died. He noticed each package contained a familiar bracelet. He'd seen the girls wearing them, but had never asked them what meaning they had. He quickly grabbed the bracelets out of the packages, hiding them in his pocket. He couldn't let these go. He might have told Sam that the girls needed to be put to rest, but he was scared to lose them too. The bracelets were something to hold on to, besides the girls would mostly likely move on when they burned their bodies. It sounded horrible now, the idea of burning someone. They had done it previously out of need or for their Dad because it was what he wanted. They had no idea what these girls wanted. They had barely talked about what would happen when they died, or their hopes and aspirations. Their short lives had come to an end so quickly, without them ever really getting to live it.
Bobby had arrived, and the boys were getting ready to burn their bodies. The girls whispered their thanks and love to the boys and Bobby, even though they couldn't hear them. As the boys and Bobby said their last words, the girls all turned away unable to watch. They huddled together, hugging, not saying a word. The silence meant more than anything they could have said. They had grown so close to one another, especially after everything they had been through. Their book of life had ended, and now it was time to close it shut.
They heard the roar of the fire as it began to burn their bodies, and they waited for what was to come. They weren't sure if it was going to hurt, or what would happen to them. Would they go to heaven or hell, or would there be nothing for them?
The pain they expected never came.
"Why are we not like burning away?" Jess asked confused
"I don't know, could we be attached to something else?" Samantha wondered.
"I have no idea." Beth replied
"I don't know whether to be relieved or worried." Samantha turned to look at Dean and Sam, who were standing by the pyres, watching them burn.
"Okay that settles it I'm learning to haunt, not being able to communicate is making this complicated." Beth stormed towards the boys, attempting to push them or do anything but it didn't work.
…
Bobby and the boys had got a motel room in Casper, Wyoming after they had finished giving the girls their hunter's funeral. They were desperately trying to find a way to Lucifer. They had been looking at any demon activity, searching through recent police files and articles online to find anything suspicious that could point to Lucifer. Meanwhile the girls had been trying their best to figure out how to communicate with the boys, to tell them to just let it rest, and not get themselves killed.
"Okay so what if we tried screaming do you think they could hear us?" Beth suggested
"Probably not" Samantha replied
"Whispering in their ear?" Jess asked
"Creepy" Samantha said shaking her head
"Sammie you're the one who used to watch all the horror movies and things about ghosts. How did they communicate?" Jess asked giving up, every idea they had come up with seemed pointless.
"Um well I don't know" Samantha tried to remember, all the thinking and yelling they had been doing had tired her out
"Come on Sammie." Jess said giving her a nudge.
"Sorry, it's so tiring, I just want to sleep." Samantha muttered, falling onto the bed like she would have when she was alive.
"I know what you mean I'm dead tired. Pun intended." Beth smirked, dying hadn't changed her personality at all.
"Not funny Beth." Samantha said rolling her eyes
"I dunno I thought it was pretty funny. Pretty death-tastic." Beth laughed at her own joke.
"Seriously Beth we need to concentrate." Jess said getting annoyed.
"Sorry I'm not good with these serious situations you know that." Beth's smirk faded.
"Then shut up." Jess yelled.
"Fine, gosh. When did you become such a party pooper?" Beth said sarcastic
"Since this isn't a party." Jess replied seriously.
"Okay well we could always try see if anyone around here can talk to ghosts. Like Ghost Whisperer or Whoopi Goldberg in that Patrick Swayze movie." Samantha said taking Beth and Jess away from their fight.
"Yea that sounds real easy let's just go find Jennifer Love Hewitt, I'm sure she can help us." Beth said sarcastically.
"Do you have a better idea?" Samantha asked, raising her eyebrow, hoping to stump her.
"How about we find another ghost, and ask him." Jess intervened.
"And what if this ghost we find is evil, how well is that gonna go down?" Beth replied quickly, not wanting to lose
"Well then we found the boys a case and maybe they'll stop trying to kill Lucifer." Jess argued back
"Guys none of this arguing is helping." Samantha pushed them away from each other, trying to stop them from fighting.
Amidst their arguing the girls hadn't noticed that the boys and Bobby had up and left, until they found themselves pulled into the back of the Impala. It was now late at night. The boys had only been searching for half the day.
"Where are they going?" Beth asked suddenly serious
"I don't know." Jess replied
"Sam, Dean please stop." Samantha tried to talk to them, but it still didn't work.
"They still can't hear us." Beth frowned, looking down
"Surely they can't have found him by now." Jess look confused.
"This is too easy." Samantha agreed.
The girls don't know how long the boys drove for, with Bobby following behind them. They pulled up outside an abandoned looking house. The trees, grass and weeds had overgrown. The windows clearly smashed. The paint peeling and faded. It was surrounded by a large wire fence with padlocks that had clearly been broken into.
"This is where he said Lucifer will be." Dean pointed towards the house.
"Who said?" all of the girls asked, but of course their question wasn't heard.
"You ready?" Sam asked staring at the house.
"Let's go." Dean replied, taking one last look at the house, before opening his door and getting out of the Impala. Sam followed him, walking around to the trunk. The girls got out, yelling at the boys all they could, but they heard nothing. Bobby pulled up beside the impala and got out meeting the boys at the back of the impala. Dean opened the trunk, grabbing out their weapons, anything they could use against Lucifer.
"Listen to us, you're just going to get yourself killed." Samantha yelled
"Please stop." Beth begged
"This isn't like you, don't go in without a plan." Jess tried to stop Dean, but her hands went straight through. Dean shivered but seemed to think nothing of it.
The girls tried and tried but failed to get through to the boys.
"Girls if you can hear us. This is for you." Sam said
"Well as the girls would say, yolo." Dean muttered. This was totally out of character and confused the girls, but they were too busy trying to stop them, to worry about it.
The girls had to do something to stop them. They were getting angry at the boys now. They were just being stupid. The boys began to walk inside. The girls transported themselves from outside to in the house where they could sense Lucifer.
"Well hello, didn't take you long to find me did it. Come to say yes now? It's a little late for that." Lucifer smiled menacingly.
"Uh no, um shit good Lucifer sir, your majesty, um great grandparent of ours, please you have to leave, the boys they're going to kill you and we really don't want you to die." Samantha lied, coming up with that on the spot.
"Is that so?" Lucifer asked laughing "you think…. you think they can kill me? Oh you girls are too funny, I see you inherited the family humour" Lucifer mused. "I think just for that, I shall hold you here and make you watch as I torture them slowly."
"Well you tried Sammie" Beth patted her shoulder.
"Please no." Jess begged.
"We're sorry." Samantha tried but it was too late, all three girls were moved by Lucifer's side against a wall, unable to move. Bobby and the boys came bursting in guns blazing.
"Winchesters, and Singer, come for a little visit have we?" Lucifer smiled.
"We're gonna kill you, Dead." Sam said angrily.
"Aw Sam that's so cute. I'm touched." Lucifer smiled. "But I'm afraid that's just not going to happen. You see, I killed your girls, and now I'm going to kill you." With this Lucifer snapped his fingers, and the sounds of large cracks filled the room as Sam, Dean and Bobby fell to the floor, dead. The girls screamed, but it didn't matter now, they had died for nothing.
"Well I must be off. You know you could have said yes." Lucifer said to all three of them, before he disappeared. The girls could move again, and they ran over to where the three men were lying on the floor.
"Why boys why?" All of them muttered as they knelt by the boy's lifeless bodies.
"Girls?" They heard Dean ask. The girls turned around to see the boys and Bobby standing behind them.
"Fucking idiots!" the girls all yelled.
