Does he regret it? Colby thought as he came down the ring, even with all that music, screaming, cheers and boos all he could think about was Joe…that kiss… why did he do that? Shit, I'm not supposed to be smiling! Pull yourself together, don't break character. That moment he was no longer Colby Lopez, he was Seth Rollins the former architect of the Shield, the heavyweight champion, but he couldn't stop smiling.
He stood in the ring talking about the Authority looking hot as always, then he spoke something about Roman Reigns and his theme song started playing and he came down to the ring to set the main match (Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns). At the end of the night, they were both standing on the ring waiting for the match to start. How could they pretend to hate each other!? Seth won the match thanks to J&J Security, but Roman wasn't happy so the fight continued. Reigns threw Rollins on the ground, he was stuck under the older one. They were making eye contact, Seth was losing himself in those gray eyes. Millions of people watching Raw and our lips are inches from touching…again Colby thought but then Roman got up and went away. The fans went crazy when Roman passed by them.
Finally the main match was over… All superstars needed to rest because after Thursday Night SmackDown, they would spend the night traveling to Florida. Until then, those were hard days: when one wanted to talk the other tried to avoid him and vice versa. So on Thursday, they couldn't avoid each other anymore, Joe was sitting next to Colby on the plane. Unless one of them jumped down the window, there was no way they could avoid one another
"So…"They said simultaneously
"Shoot" Joe said
"We need to talk about what happened the other night, you know?" Colby struggled to say looking down to is feet
"I know" Joe glanced at him "I'm-"
"Do you regret?" He said abruptly "I mean, did you really want to do that?"
"I-" Joe started
"I'm really messed up right now, you messed me up…damn…I don't-"Colby cut him
"Please stop!" Joe interrupted taking the smaller man's hand "And don't forget to breathe" He joked. Colby looked at their hands and then into those gray eyes that had turned his world upside down "Yes, I really wanted to do that, but-"
"You'd rather not" He completed the Samoan's sentence. But he understood, they couldn't ruin their lives just because of a minor (not so small) thing.
"I'm sorry" Joe mouthed
"I get it… it's complicated" Colby couldn't explain that feeling… he did get it and he agreed, but his heart was still broken into million pieces.
It was a quiet flight, unfortunately. They wouldn't talk to each other. It was heartbreaking, they had been friends for years… that friendship could not end in that plane.
Colby fell asleep and so did Joe. The gap between the two was bigger than what it was at the beginning of the trip. An hour passed by and Colby woke up. Joe was already awake looking down the window with a harsh look on his face.
"Are we in Florida yet?" Lopez yawned rubbing his eyes
"Yes, we're flying in circles, now. We must land soon" Joe said still staring at the clouds outside
The plane landed, Joe seemed relieved, he grabbed his bag and left the plane
"Hey, are you okay?" Colby asked slightly pulling Joe's arm
"Yes, I'm fine" Joe broke free and kept walking not even looking back at his friend. That hurt. Colby was standing there with his bag on his hand feeling empty inside watching Joe disappear as he entered the airport building
"Colbs, is… everything alright?" He felt Bryan's hand on his shoulder, but he couldn't answered, he was tongue tied "Hey, what's wrong?" Bryan insisted
"Nothing…" was all Colby could say. He was feeling numb and lost, because he was pretty much ignored by someone he cared about and worst of all he didn't understand why… He'd told Joe how he felt about the situation and Joe had told him how he felt as well… they could act normal with each other, right? After all they were best friends.
"Here we go again with your mixed signals and second thoughts"
