The shot rang through Steve's ears as he looked up and saw the guard falling backwards as the bullet struck him in the chest. Steve looked back and could see the window was blown out from the blast "Bucky" he said knowing that Bucky was the only one who could have made the shot.
The shot had broken 214782's concentration and Manfredi had regained control of his gun using it to quickly hit the boy in the side of the head so that he could avoid him refocusing on him. Manfredi turned to fire on Steve when the doors to the house flew open and Dugan, Jones, and Morita came striding through opening fire on his guards forcing him to back off and take cover. Steve leaped down the stairs to take cover himself as the fire fight intensified. Manfredi scanned the situation and realized that without his normal troop size he would need to escape "Dammit Zola" he said since Zola had taken a large percentage of his troops with him to help safeguard the Red Skull. He went to escape when he saw 214782 crawling on the floor in order to try to get to safety "Kill the freak" he shouted to his men as he turned to leave.
The troops moved to fire on the boy but were stopped when he turned and lifted his hand sending their weapons flying out of their hands. Bucky came flying through one of the windows and shouted "Hey Cap" causing Steve to turn and see Bucky throw him his shield. Steve caught it "Go, we got this" Bucky said shooting two guards who came in a door behind him. Steve nodded and ran up the stairs knocking out the two guards who were with Manfredi.
Steve turned down the hallway where Manfredi had ran and saw him dart up some stairs, Steve followed him closely wishing that his tuxedo had given him a little bit more room to move around.
214782 looked up and could see a guard approaching him without a weapon, "No metal powers will save you this time" he said in German causing 214782 to back up as he approached. Just as the man approached Bucky leaped over a table and tackled the soldier to the ground and started punching him. The Hydra soldier grabbed at Bucky's throat causing Bucky to grab at the soldiers arms. Bucky pulled with all his might as the man choked and found that the soldier's arm cracked as he pulled at them. Bucky then delivered a blow to the soldiers head knocking him unconscious. Bucky looked down at his hands as he realized that he had broken the Hydra soldier's arms when he pulled on them, he looked over at the kid and saw that the child was staring at him in shock. He moved and grabbed the kid and moved him to a safer part of the room as Dugan and Morita started moving deeper in the room.
Steve climbed the stairs quickly trying to keep Manfredi in his sights but found that he was much faster than he looked. He turned a corner and found himself inside some kind of tower, he scanned the room but couldn't spot Manfredi. He peeked outside the windows inside the room and saw that there was nowhere for Manfredi to go meaning he had to be in the room somewhere.
"You must be him, the super soldier that Zola mentioned to me" his voice came echoing around the room prompting Steve to try and spot him in the darkened room. "I must say you are quite impressive but I'm afraid you are inadequate to stop me."
"Oh really? Way I see it, you're the one hiding in the dark" remarked Steve listening for movement, he turned when heard shuffling behind but didn't move fast enough to avoid taking a punch to the jaw causing him to back up from the blow. Steve looked up but soon found himself being hit several times as Manfredi struck quickly hoping to overwhelm him.
"Zola said the Skull is getting nervous with you running around out there" said Manfredi delivering a spin kick to Steve's midsection. "I guess he is getting weak in these stressful times" he said moving to punch Steve again but Steve caught his fist in his hand and started to squeeze it.
Manfredi cried out in pain and fell to his knees as Steve increased the pressure on Manfredi's fist. "Or maybe he's nervous for a reason" stated Steve delivering several strikes to Manfredi, knocking him out.
Peggy scanned the room and saw how the Hydra troops were being taken down all over the room and the rest were attempting to escape capture, the commandoes had been successful and now they had a chance to find the Red Skull, if they could get Manfredi to talk.
Bucky sat down at the bottom of the stairs next to 214782 and looked him over, "They did tests on you didn't they?" he asked taking the child's silence as a yes. "They did the same thing to me" he said causing 214782 to look at him in shock. "What's your name?"
The kid looked at him closely as if deciding whether to trust him or not "Erik" he said with a heavy German accent.
"Well Erik, Don't let what they did to you here, break you, use it to make yourself stronger, let it drive you to try and change how this world works" Bucky stood up "Good luck Erik, I expect great things from you" he said walking towards Peggy as SSR troops came and took Erik into their custody. "What will happen to him?" asked Bucky as they shuffled Erik out of the room.
"We will try to find his family but I doubt we will have success, so most likely we will send him to the US for safe keeping until we can find a better solution" Peggy explained.
"Good, kid's been through hell" he said seeing Steve drag Manfredi into view and hand him over to some of the soldiers. Bucky and Peggy made their way over as Steve looked around.
"Everything went to plan" Steve said prompting nods from Peggy and Bucky. Bucky looked as some soldiers collected the Hydra troops and noticed the one he had fought during the shootout.
"How did I break his arms like that?" he asked himself zoning out of the conversation between Steve and Peggy.
"So now what?" asked Steve wanting desperately wanting to get out of the tuxedo he was wearing.
"Now we make Manfredi tell us where the Red Skull is" stated Peggy watching Manfredi being dragged away.
