Hello again. Here's the next chapter. Again set in season 9 episode 7 'Bad Boys'.
Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural.
Castiel had listened to the brother's conversation about how to deal with the situation of Timmy and his mother's ghost, and when he heard Sam suggestion he had an idea. He was an angel, albeit a young one, he could maybe sever the connection between the spirit and the boy so that the mother would go to her peace in heaven. It could work. With that he turned as he felt the spirit once more near and saw Timmy crouching down playing with his action figure not far from them. Slipping his hand from Deans he made his way over to Timmy.
"Hello Timmy, my name is Castiel and I'm an angel." He said crouching down with the boy.
"Hi Castiel." Timmy replied looking up at him and away from his game.
"Your mother needs to move on Timmy, she has a place in heaven waiting for her." Castiel explained, he didn't want to rip the boy's mother away from him, he needed him to understand.
"I don't want her to leave." Timmy said shaking his head in denial.
"I know, but you can't make her stay." Castiel replied with a frown as he thought over his own words. He couldn't help but see the correlation to his current predicament with Gabriel having left him. He had wanted his brother to stay, he had been the only one Castiel had ever known to take care of him, but he had to go. He couldn't stay with Castiel, he had a duty to perform for heaven-
"But she wants to stay." Timmy stated interrupting Castiel's thought on his own situation, but it gave him enough insight that he could hopefully find the right words for the boy.
"I know, but she can't Timmy. She is needed in heaven, there are those who need her to be there for them and you will see her again one day, I promise you that." Castiel said with honesty in his eyes as he looked at the young boy who looked so frightened, but looking into Castiel's eyes the boy nodded once, that was all the permission the fledging needed to try and cut the connection.
"I can't leave my son." Said the woman who suddenly appeared behind Timmy and tried to push Castiel away from him, though he was unmoved by her powers.
"I will protect him for you, I promise." Castiel said looking into her eyes, understanding Dean's role in his own situation better with the words. Dean was his protector for Gabriel just as he was promising to be Timmy's protector for his mother.
"It's okay mommy, Castiel will watch over me." Timmy replied smiling up at his mother who turned to look at her little boy a smile of her own appearing on her face.
"I love you son." She said, she knew that this was right and her son did now have an angel on his shoulder.
"I love you too, mom." Timmy replied smiling back at her as Castiel reached forwards and placed his fingers on the child's head. He then closed his eyes and tried to channel his grace as Gabriel had taught him, searching out the connection, which was made considerably easier by the mother who was ready to leave her son and as such showed him the way. Using his grace he cut through it and with a flash of bright light the ghost of the woman was gone leaving only a little boy who had tears in his eyes at the loss of his mother and one very weary fledgling who collapsed to sit in the dirt while he thought over all he had discovered during his conversation with Timmy and his mother. Gabriel had had to leave him, but he would come back. Gabriel would not leave forever, no matter what. And the reason Gabriel had left was not that he was a bad angel, but that he had too. He had to take over the host so that he could return them all home. That was Gabriel's duty, and Castiel had to accept that. Which he did, as for why he had not taken him with him, well he wanted to protect Castiel, as such he had left him with one he knew would look after him to the best of his ability, because while the Winchesters weren't angels, they were family.
Castiel was so busy thinking these things that he didn't notice when Dean was next to him, nor when the righteous man pulled him into his arms and held him close. It wasn't until he heard Dean frantically shout at Sam to call Gabe that he came back to the real world and turning to Dean with a smile he wrapped his arms around the man's neck as he spoke.
"Yes, I would like to talk to my brother very much."
It had taken Dean a few seconds to realise that Cas was no longer holding his hand, turning he saw he was approaching Timmy.
"Who's that?" Sam asked as his eyes followed his brothers and he watched Cas join the little boy.
"That's the kid with the spirit." Dean answered starting to move in the same direction and pull Cas away from the danger, but he was stopped by Sam's hand on his. Turning he glared at his brother about to open his mouth and give him abuse from stopping him but Sam forestalled his rant with one of his own, though it was less of a rant, more a suggestion.
"He's an angel Dean, he can sense spirits, and he can see souls. Let's just see what he does okay? Maybe he can help them in a way that we can't."
With that Dean turned back to watching Cas, he seemed to be talking, and then suddenly a ghost of a woman appeared behind Timmy, but she didn't attack, in fact it almost looked like she nodded her head to something Cas was saying. Then Cas' fingers where on the kid and the ghost was disappearing in a flash of light so bright Dean and Sam both had to shield their eyes and turn away. When they looked back it was to find Cas now sitting slumped on the ground and Timmy, with tears pouring down his check, next to him. Dean didn't think, he was moving towards Cas before Sam could even process the situation. Once he got to the baby angel he fell down next to him asking if he was alright. When he got no response he grabbed Cas to him in the hopes that would bring him out of whatever it was he was going through. But when that didn't work Dean realised that there was only one person who could help Cas right now and as such shouted at Sam to call Gabe, hoping that the archangel would know what to do. But before Sam could get his phone out of his pocket Cas moved and wrapped his arms around Dean's neck and spoke in his usual happy tone that they hadn't heard since Gabriel had left.
"Yes, I would like to talk to my brother very much."
