Dugan sat in the back seat as Cap drove them just outside of the small town where they were going to set up the new base of operations. Morita was sitting next to him with Cap and Bucky in the front seat, Gabe was driving behind them with Dernier and Falsworth with him. Philips decided that sending the Commandos ahead was a good idea since Hydra was too smart to leave the closest settlement to their base unguarded. He could look through the front of the jeep and could see a large tower with a dish on top in the distance "I assume that's where the village is" said Dugan to break the silence. Cap nodded and pulled the jeep off road into the woods along the road. Gabe and others followed them and surrounded the front of his jeep.

Steve whispered into Bucky's ear to go scout the town while everyone else got ready to clear the village. He moved quickly, faster than he realized he could and ended up on a hill just outside the village quicker than he anticipated. His mind flashed back to Italy when he broke that Hydra soldiers arm without really trying, he had been feeling this way since Cap rescued him in France. He pulled out his rifle and scanned the village noting the antenna tower in the middle of the village. He figured it was some kind of communication device that was being used to report back to the Hydra base, meaning if they took out the antenna Hydra and the Red Skull would know they are coming. Bucky tagged targets and made his way back to the others and found them checking their weapons.

"What did you find?" asked Steve stepping towards Bucky.

"Looks like Philips was right. It's a Hydra outpost, the tower in the center of town is more than likely reporting to the Hydra base" explained Bucky drawing the layout of the village on a piece of paper.

Steve looked over the map and worked out the strategy "Ok here's what we are going to do, Dugan and Dernier will hit the east side of the village, Gabe and Falsworth will hit from the west, Bucky and Morita are going to hit from main road, while I hit the communication building. Be as quiet as possible the longer we can avoid an alarm the easier this will be."

Everyone headed out and Steve ran to the far side of the village where he could hit the communication building, if he could take the building without alerting the village he could maintain the surprise on Red Skull and the rest of Hydra. He stopped just outside by the tree line and spotted a Hydra soldier taking a smoke break. He turned back towards the building giving Steve the opening he needed, he threw his shield catching the trooper in the back of the head knocking him out of commission. Steve then dove forward just outside the door as his shield returned as it was designed to do. He stopped by the door and saw that four others were inside manning the controls. Steve moved quickly disarming and laying out at four of them before they even knew what happened. The room had a glass window that showed the town square and the antenna tower, Steve could see the others moving around to each building in the village. He turned back to look over the equipment inside the communication building, the consoles lining the back wall. The buttons were flashing all over the place "Stark is going to love it here" Steve said to himself as he approached the video screen that was in the center of the line of the consoles.

The screen flickered to life in front of Steve "Long time no see Captain" came the voice of the Red Skull through the monitor. He was staring at Steve from the monitor screen, "You have greatly improved since the last time we met."

Steve's breathing got heavier, his body tightened looking into the evil pits that the Red Skull had for eyes. "Surrender Skull there is no escape this time" Steve stated boldly.

The Red Skull chuckled "It will not be that easy good Captain, I have a war to fight and to win. In 12 hours my war begins and your world ends."

"I'm not going to let that happen" replied Steve.

"I watched you clear the building, your men are all very skilled and talented but Hydra is beyond you. Besides the element of surprise was your only real hope of defeating me, and now I not only know you're coming but I know where you are at this very moment" Steve heard engines in the distance, he knew the sound from his missions against Hydra, they were Hydra bombers. "Goodbye Captain America."

Steve moved towards the window and yelled into his radio, "Everyone get out now a Hydra bomber is about to attack!" He dove as the bomber dropped its payload blowing the communications building up as Steve jumped out of the window and rolled into a full sprint. He didn't see the others, he hoped they were pulling back away from the village. The bombs were exploding around him as he sprinted with all his might. He cleared the village and got a few miles down the main road when the bomber started using its Hydra machine gun firing the energy blasts that Steve had seen in France. He zigged into the woods hoping to lose the plane in the dense trees. The shooting stopped and Steve kept moving hoping the plane would lose interest or get low on fuel, he then heard the rumble of a convoy. "Oh no" he said to himself realizing that the rest of SSR was coming and that the bomber was in the perfect position to lay waste to it.

Philips and Carter were putting the pedal to the floor after the explosions started in the distance "No contact with Steve or the others" she said looking the distance still several miles out of the village.

Steve made a quick decision and dove out of the woods so that the plane could see him, it turned and circled around to line up an attack run on Steve's position. He stood his ground and waited for his chance.

Philips slammed on the brakes as he spotted Steve up the road with a Hydra plane circling around on him "Stark, do we have anything that can take care of that plane?" he shouted into the back of the truck he was driving.

"Nothing that's ready" replied Howard with frustration in his voice.

The plane circled and lined up its shot and just as it started its attack, Steve threw his shield as the energy blasts landed all around him. The shield spun and hit directly in the cock pit taking out the pilot causing the plane to spin and crash into the woods on the side of the road. Steve walked over to the crash and managed to find his shield just as the others approached him. "You okay?" asked Peggy coming and hugging him while she spoke.

Steve was surprised but returned the hug "Yes, I'm fine. Things have changed we need to find the other commandos and talk. The timetable on this operation has been moved up."
