Hello again. Another update today and another Gabriel chapter. I hope you like it.

Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural.

Gabriel was sitting in his office staring at nothing an hour later when a knock came on the door and Hannah entered to inform him that they had processed the new angels and given them appropriate work. She was just about to leave when Gabriel stopped her.

"Wait Hannah, shut the door and sit down."

Turning she did as he asked and then waited for him to speak once more.

"Hannah, do you know of any way to get to heaven?" Gabriel asked. He had been trying to think of a way ever since he returned here but he came up with nothing. All his ideas involved using the back routes in, which had now all been closed. It was extremely frustrating in his mind, but maybe Hannah would have an idea or heard something from one of the angels out in the warehouse.

At his question Hannah was surprised. Because heaven was closed, so how could there be a way to get there? Surely if there was one then the angels would have used it to return home by now. But he had asked the question and she was going to give her commander a sensible answer. It was then that a realisation came to her.

"The reapers might know a way." She finally said as she thought over the problem. Her words made Gabriel sit up as if to attention.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"Well the souls are still getting to heaven are they not?" Hannah asked and when it seemed she was waiting for a reply Gabriel nodded following her thoughts. "In which case the reapers who take them there must know where they are going." She finished. At that Gabriel jumped up.

"Hannah you're a genius. I need a reaper." He said as if by saying the words one would miraculously appear in front of him. Hannah had to say she found it rather entertaining.

"You could summon one I imagine, not that I know the spell." She said to the archangel whose face was a picture of excitement, it was almost childlike.

At that sentence Gabriel's face went from childlike excitement to calculated mischief in the flicker of an eyelid. "I do. But I can't do it here. I'll need to leave you in charge while I'm gone." He said as he moved to leave making Hannah rise in a panic.

"Commander, if I may. I would like to come with you." She said more forcefully than she intended, but she did not like the idea of Gabriel going off on his own. Yes he could take care of himself, but if he was put in a situation where innocents would be harmed she knew he would rather die than let that happen. If she was there then she could sacrifice herself and he would survive. She was after all disposable, Gabriel was not.

"Hannah-" Gabriel started to say, he didn't need a damn babysitter thank you very much, but his second in command cut him off. He was so surprised he let her.

"I just, don't think you should go alone." Hannah spoke firmly, though she was shaking at the thought that she was arguing with an archangel. But he had said that she should work on the side that had resonated with Castiel's words, and she was sure that if he had been here, in her position, then Castiel would say the same.

"Fine, but who's going to hold down the fort here if we're both gone?" Gabriel asked hoping she would see the flaw in her plan and let him go alone. Once he got the answer to his question he was planning on returning to the Winchesters. He needed Castiel so that when he got to heaven he could find the spell, the tablet did say that only his grace could find it after all.

"Rebecca could do it. She had more power than me in heaven as it is, the angels will more readily listen to her." Hannah said. There was no way she was letting Gabriel go alone, whatever he may think about it and thinking of what Castiel would do had given her the strength so that her voice no longer shook and she stood up straight in front of her commander.

"Okay. Let's get it set up." Gabriel replied with wiry smile on his face. He recognised the defiance in the angel in front of him, it was like she challenging Castiel and he knew he couldn't argue with that.

And so with that Hannah went out to collect Rebeca so that Gabriel could ask her himself to take over while he and Hannah went on an important mission which will help with re-opening heaven. Rebecca of course agreed readily. And that was how Hannah found herself riding in the car with Gabriel driving to gods knows where.

Gabriel chose an out of the way spot that was on the way to the bunker to summon a reaper. He had, before they left, made sure he had all that he needed to do the spell. Of course the easiest thing to do would be to drive to the bunker and summon a reaper there, but he didn't want to have to do that and show Hannah all that he was keeping from her until he knew what he needed to do to get to heaven. Even then he was hoping he could drop Hannah somewhere, after all he doubted the Winchesters would be too happy with him if he brought another angel to their home. But first he had to see if he could find a way to heaven.

He pulled up outside an abandoned church, and went to collect the required ingredients from the back of his car but found that Hannah had got there before him. Smiling and shaking his head he lead the way inside and then asked for what he required, allowing her to learn the ritual that an angel of her status in the old heaven would have had no hope to ever see.

Hannah watched every move carefully. She may be there to protect Gabriel, but if she was to learn new law while in the process then she would not pass up that opportunity.

Once everything was set Gabriel uttered the words of enochian to call forth a reaper. Suddenly in front of them a woman appeared, she had black hair that came down to her jaw and eyes that seemed as old as time.

"Hello Tessa." Gabriel said pleasantly to her with a smile on his lips. He was glad it was she who had responded to his summons. She was the reaper who was closest to Dean Winchester, being his personal guide when he became death for Sam's soul as well as being the one given the job to reap him so many years ago.

"Gabriel, what can I do for you?" She asked ignoring the angel with him.

"I need to know how to get into heaven." He said without preamble, they had wasted enough time as it was.

"Why?" Tessa asked him with a penetrating stare that demanded he spoke the truth, luckily he was actually working for the good of everyone here.

"So I can open it and return the angels." He answered, it was part of the truth after all.

"You can't do that alone Gabriel." Tessa said to him, refusing to give the information he sort without some reassurance that he could indeed succeed.

"I know, I have people helping me." Gabriel replied evasively.

"Who?" Tessa asked making Gabriel want to glare. He didn't want to reveal who he was working with to Hannah, but, she had seemed to be on his side so far. He just hoped it stayed that way, he had no choice but say the words which could make or break his relationship with his second in command.

"The Winchesters."

"Ah. I wish I could help you Gabriel, I truly do. But I don't know the way to heaven." Tessa said with a regretful tone.

"Then how is it souls are still going there?" He asked, there must be a way he could get into heaven.

"There is a portal, those destined for heaven travel there. We just escort them." Tessa replied with a shrug as if it was of no importance.

"But surely if you've escorted souls to the portal you know where it is?" Gabriel asked. This was making no sense to him.

"It moves, and it is cloaked from angels. Only soul's destined for heaven can find it." Tessa replied looking him straight in the eye making his go wide. Because she had just given him the key he needed to get to heaven and find the spell. The key to fix it all.

"Thank you." He said sincerely and with a smile Tessa disappeared once more leaving Gabriel planning.

"You are working with the Winchesters." Hannah stated. It wasn't question, but it also wasn't news. She had known this already, what had surprised her was that the reaper seemed reassured by the information. In fact once Gabriel had said their name she had answered the question. Not that that seemed to help in her opinion.

"I am, is that a problem?" Gabriel asked turning to her his mind only half on the conversation he was having, the other half working out the deals of the idea he had had when talking to Tessa, forming the idea into a plan.

"No." Hannah replied. She had decided to put her trust in Gabriel after all.

"Good. Cos it looks like we're about to pay them a visit." Gabriel said with a sunny smile on his lips. He then turned and made his way back out of the church and to the car. If they stopped only for gas they should be at the bunker by nightfall.
