Chapter 13: I Will Always Love You: Tony
After Steve saw that we were getting along he let us out. He seemed so upset and wouldn't let go of Chris. Her face was starting to turn purple from lack of oxygen. But I don't think she cared. She loved her dad she was willing to not breathe. She left us alone after the death grip. Dinner time was coming around and Chris was starving. She left us together.
"Tony, I'm so sorry I did this to you guys."
He pulled me into a death grip.
"Calm down honey, you're gonna break me."
He loosened his grip and looked down at me.
"I love you," I whispered standing on my toes to kiss him on the forehead.
He smiled and grabbed my hand leading me upstairs for dinner. No words were needed to know that he loved me back. Thanksgiving came and went. Thor blew up a turkey, Banner was getting mad because the pumpkin pie wasn't solidifying, and Natasha burned a whole pot of mashed potatoes. After the commotion died down we all decided it would be best for everyone's safety if we just went out for dinner. By then Clint was so drunk we had to drag him to the restraunt. It's safe to say we won't be doing that again.
Then Steve took me out shopping. Steve invited Chris along as well. She had never been much less heard of it. So she wanted to go with us, almost like a family. Much to her displeasure she found out real quick how bad Black Friday could get, people scrambling everywhere, shoving, kicking, and doing anything to get the best deals. Poor Chris got in a fight with an old lady over a shirt she had found. When she finally wrestled it out of her hands she ran for her life. She has a couple more items but made sure to hide them from the frenzied shoppers.
She quickly paid and ran out of the store. Steve left to make sure she was okay. When he came back in he was snickering. Apparently Chris was so scared she decided to go home. Her reason, the old people were more vicious than any drill sergeant she ever had. I laughed with him as well. When we finished we headed home. But when I lay in bed I realized something I hadn't before. On December 2, 2009 Steve confessed that he wanted to be with me, not as friends. That was technically our anniversary. I realized we had never celebrated before and now that next year we are getting married, they would never have a chance like this again.
I laid there for hours thinking about it. I finally fell asleep but didn't get much sleep. It was gonna bother me if I didn't do something about it. Finally I couldn't take it. I ripped the covers off of me and walked over to Chris's room. JARVIS opened the door and I gladly let myself in. I looked at Chris. She looks so peaceful; it almost makes me feel bad I'm going to wake her up. I shook the bed and she jolted up and hit her head falling onto the floor. I said almost right.
"Tony, what the hell are you doing up it's….." she paused to look at the clock.
"Five in the morning, what is so important it needs to be talked about now."
I was silent for a moment as I looked at her. She looked super annoyed and there were bags under her eyes.
"Have you been sleeping okay?"
"No, and this isn't helping at all, now get to the point what do you need?" crossing her arms.
"Okay, I need help setting up an anniversary dinner for me and Steve."
She rubbed her head and sighed.
"Tony I know you love my dad and want to do nice things for him I get it, but could we talk about this, I don't know, when the sun comes up!"
"No this has to happen now, now please help."
She sighed and stood up.
"Okay, I'll help out what do you need me to do?"
I smiled.
"I need you to clear his schedule for the evening of the second, make sure he is dressed nicely, and is ready by six."
She cocked her eyebrow.
"Is that it?" she asked.
"I also need you to make sure the others don't follow us."
She chuckled.
"Piece of cake."
After she said that Clint stumbled in with a beer and was clearly drunk. He made it two feet before he fell to the ground. Chris sighed as he grabbed his arms and started dragging him back to his room. Maybe this was going to be harder than she thought.
Chris
So Tony expects me to keep all the Avengers in line while he is gone. I can do that much, right? I needed someone to replace dad. Then I remembered someone who really wanted Saturday off. Aha I found it. Just as the thought popped into my brain I ran into someone. Speaking of the devil, Natasha was standing right in front of me.
"Watch where you're going?" she hissed.
"Sorry but I was just looking for you."
She looked me in the eyes and scoffed.
"I don't want anything from you, buzz off."
She went around me and started walking off.
"Too bad," I said loud enough for her to hear.
"I guess you don't want Saturday off."
I heard the clicking of her heels stop.
"I'm listening runt, now talk."
Snickering I turned to face her.
"Well, Tony needs Steve for tonight so we need someone to take over his patrol, so if you take the shift tonight, he'll take yours Saturday night."
She frowned at me but I could see she was giving in.
"Fine, I'll take tonight's patrol, but I better get Saturday off."
Deal has been made.
"Got it."
I was about to leave when she said it again.
"You haven't been staying away from him."
I turned around.
"Stay away from who?"
She didn't answer.
"He's getting worse because of you."
"WHO IS GETTING WORSE," I yelled.
She didn't respond.
"Just stay away," she whispered.
Before I could ask any more questions she left. Yet again, the mysterious Natasha has sent me another threatening message. Who is she talking about, who is getting worse? But no time for that, I had to get to Stark. But he found me just in time.
"So how did it go?"
"Natasha took it and don't worry I talked with the others, Banner said he was going to stay in the lab, Barton said he was staying home to practice, and Thor is up in Asgard dealing with some family affairs."
Tony smiled.
"Thank you so much, I won't forget this."
I laughed.
"Don't thank me yet, I still need dad to look nice, so where are you taking him?"
"A nice restraunt down the street, I had to pull some strings to get reservations, but hey I'm Tony Stark."
Well, his ego hasn't gone down since we became a friend that's for sure.
"Okay, so suit and tie?"
"Yes, now go it's almost four and he takes a while to get ready, I'm going to get ready somewhere else."
I nodded and rushed to dad's room. I noticed he was suiting up for patrol.
"Oh no, no, no take all that off."
He turned around.
"What's wrong with that what I'm wearing?"
Steve
Chris walked in demanding that I change.
"What's wrong with what I'm wearing?" I asked.
"You are not going on patrol tonight, so take that off and take a shower."
"But I already took one today."
She went up to me and smelled my hair.
"You most certainly did not, now go shower I'm going to pick out your clothes."
What is going on? But Chris wasn't here to ask questions.
"Now come on don't just stand there move, move, move."
I quickly ran into the bathroom to get away from her. I hear her bustling around in my room.
"I don't hear any water running."
I quickly stripped and took a shower.
"While you're in there make yourself look nice and put on some cologne."
I got out of the shower and did what Chris told me to do. When I got out of the bathroom there were clothes lying on the bed. A note with a rose was left telling me to wear this and be outside the building at six. I changed into the suit she had picked out. It was the black one Tony bought me; we had been dating six months when he finally said I needed a proper suit. It had a nice red bow tie with it. I had insisted on that part. I exited the door and found rose petals made like a path. I followed them to the elevator. Chris was waiting there. She stopped me to fix the bow tie and to spray cologne on me, which I had forgotten to put on before.
She released me from the torture and let me go downstairs. I arrived outside the building right on time. As I did a limo pulled up. Who was this for? Suddenly Tony was right behind me.
"Happy Anniversary," he whispered.
I turned around and Tony was in a nice white suit and had flowers in his hands. He remembered, god I had even forgotten.
"What's this all for?"
"It's the anniversary of when we started dating, did you know we never celebrated our anniversary for four years, not even once?" he said being his Stark self.
I had noticed I just never thought that he was interested in doing something like this.
"Well, no need to ponder the night awaits us."
He ushered me to the car and the driver started to take us up town.
"Did you think this up all by yourself?" I asked.
Stark sighed.
"Well, it was my plan originally but Chris helped with some details like the rose petals and the limo, just little things like that to make sure everything went smoothly."
I laughed.
"So you guys are getting along?"
"Yah, she's pretty cool I guess, though I scared the crap out of her the morning I came to talk to her."
I rolled my eyes. Tony probably meant to do that just a little. He ended up taking me to a nice restraunt down the street. This place took weeks to get a reservation. I should know I had to try to make reservations one time. We had the nicest view in the place. It was great the food was lovely, Tony was an absolute gentleman, and he did all this for me.
But this wasn't our final destination. He sent the driver home. He took my hand and walked me down to the park not too far from the restraunt. The park was beautiful at night and there was not a single person in sight. No one could make comments or make Tony mad. We all saw that on time and we didn't need to see it again. It was scary but it was romantic on its own.
We walked through the park just talking and holding hands. We hadn't just talked in a long time. With work, Chris, and everything else it was hard to get Tony alone for just a little bit. We sat on the bench and I rested my head on his shoulder and we sat there watching the stars twinkle above our heads. I was just hoping that none of it would ever end.
So how was that guys, I thought it was nice. So next chapter I post is going to be a little different. I'm taking a turn on point of views. For the next few chapters I'm thinking on making it in only Chris's point of view. Just for a chapter or two then I'm going to focus on the Stony for a few chapters before I get back into regular routine again. SO please forgive me.
