Chapter 15: Party People Get Out.

Adopt me? I looked at them and then at the crowd. Dad and the crowd seemed shocked. Tony just made the life of the party. The shock on my face told everything. Everyone was shocked when Tony just laughed.

"Don't worry she doesn't have to answer now, just tell me when you're ready."

All I could do was hug Tony. His body tensed up like he was shocked but he hugged me back. I then felt another pair of arms wrap around us. My dad was hugging us as well. The crowd awed at our family moment. We finally let go and the flashing of cameras went off. They smiled as they walked down the stairs. I followed behind them. When I came to the bottom of the stairs everyone looked at me. Random hands came out and I shook each and every one of them. The rest of the Avengers were waiting over at the table. Clint already had a glass of champagne.

I laughed. I tried to go talk to him but someone intercepted me.

"Hello, Miss Christine my name is George Benson, what a nice party isn't it?"

I nodded and smiled like I was told.

"Yes, it's very nice isn't it, this is actually my first party."

He looked a little shocked.

"Really now?" a random woman popped in.

"Yes, while I was in the custody of my adopted parents I went to a military, we had galas but I never went."

Another man walked into the conversation.

"Why not you're such a pretty girl it couldn't have possibly been because you couldn't find a date."

I laughed a little.

"Well, until recently I was focused on getting into the army, like my father, so there was never any time for boys only studying."

They all looked captivated with every word I said. A crowd was starting to gather. I saw my dad wink and give the thumbs up. I was happy that he was happy.

"So are you still planning to serve your country?"

I nodded.

"Yes, I do plan on serving just not now, finishing high school first and then serving my country."

Again captivation came over their eyes.

"So are you dating anyone?" a very good looking man asked.

"No, I'm not at this time, I've been focused on my studies," I replied.

"Then you won't mind if I ask you for a dance?"

He held his hand out for mine. Everyone's eyes were on me and my decision. There was no use in rejecting him so in the end I had to take his hand. This was also the first time I've danced. Guess Tony forgot that part. So I now had to dance with an experienced partner. He swung me on and all I could do was hold on for the ride.

"So who are you?"

He cocked an eyebrow and laughed.

"Why I'm Liam Declan, I'm a prince heir to the throne."

My eyes went wide. Tony knew these kinds of people? Of course he would he is very rich he would know other rich people.

"How do you know Tony?"

He looked at me intensely.

"I don't know Tony that well, I'm friends with your father."

"Oh really?"

"Yes, my great grandfather and your father fought in World War Two together, they were good friends."

Well, that was a surprise. I guess dad knows people too.

"So why are you here in America?"

"Just visiting for a little while, you sure do ask a lot of questions," he chuckled.

I blushed a little.

"Sorry, just making conversation."

"It's fine, really."

Before I could respond another very good looking man tapped on his shoulder.

"Do you mind if I cut in sir?" he asked.

Prince Liam had no choice to let the other man have me for a while.

"Hello, my name is Evan."

I smiled as Jane said.

"Very nice to meet you Evan, I'm guessing you know who I am?"

He nodded.

"Yes, everyone is very interested in you."

I chuckled a little.

"I'm not very interesting," I replied.

"I disagree." He whispered.

He leaned forward. What is he doing? I pushed him back. He looked surprised. What do I do now? When he saw my shock he came back and tried again. I was so petrified I couldn't do anything. But someone else did. Out of nowhere Clint came and pulled him away.

"I think the lady rejected you the first time."

"What do you think you're doing?" Evan growled.

"I think you need to find another lady before I kick you out myself, you wouldn't want your hosts to see you making a move on their daughter."

Evan looked at me, then at Clint, then over to where Tony and my dad were dancing. He stormed away angry at Clint. Clint was starting to walk away when I grabbed his arm. He turned back a little shocked.

"Thank you for that, I didn't know what to do."

He smiled and patted me on the head.

"Nothing to it, anything for you Christine."

He tried to walk away but I pulled him back. What was I doing exactly? He looked at me again with wide eyes.

"Uhm, can I have a dance with you?" I asked.

He looked like he was going to refuse.

"Please, just one, I would like to dance with at least one person I enjoy at this party."

He smiled and nodded.

"Okay, I'll have a dance with you, but you should know I suck at dancing." He replied.

I could only laugh.

"Well, then I guess we will both look foolish out here."

He held his hand out and I grabbed it eagerly. He pulled me close and we swayed together. Everyone else had grabbed a partner and was intensely looking at each other. Strangely I couldn't find dad or Tony. They probably went somewhere to steal a quick kiss. But I wasn't too focused on them. I was focused on my partner. Our movement was perfect. Just like shooting arrows we moved in perfect rhythm to hit a bull's eye.

His hands on my waist and my arms around his neck, our eyes staring deeply at each other, it was perfect. He looked nice tonight. He was wearing a nice tux, probably rented. His sun glasses were gone and his hair was flattened down. He looked very handsome. I don't know what was running through my mind. Why Clint? I could have easily fallen for someone else. What about the football players at school? Or what about Josh, I'm around him all the time.

But something was different about Clint. Wait, when I did start calling him Clint? There were a lot of things that different Clint from the others. Clint was an inch more mature. He is talented, kind, not stuck up, not dramatic, not creepy, nothing like any high school student I have met. Which by the way are scary as hell. He made me feel good and he talks to me like I'm not some kid.

I laid my head on his chest. His body tensed like it was shocked but settled down. His heart beat was racing. It sounded like it was going to tear out of his chest. Before I knew what was happen his hand grabbed my chin. He lifted it slowly. So I could look him straight in the eyes. His face leaned into mine. I closed the space. My eyes closed letting in everything, the feeling of his lips touching mine. His lips were soft like silk. Are all lips this silky? How should I know this is my first kiss. It only lasted for a second before he pulled away. I opened my eyes and he looked shocked.

"I I I I'm sorry, I shouldn't have, I shouldn't have done that, goodnight."

Before I could respond he walked away. I tried to catch him but he disappeared. I felt hurt, crushed. I couldn't be here anymore. I rushed to the stairs when I ran into dad and Tony.

"Hey, Christine, where are you going?"

I quickly put on a smile for daddy.

"Oh nothing is wrong, I'm just tired," I said smiling.

I looked at the pair. Their clothes were rumpled and their hair was ruffled. They did more than kissing didn't they?

"Well, goodnight then," he said kissing me on the forehead.

I nodded and continued my assent. But Tony grabbed my arm.

"When you're ready to really talk about what happened call me." He said.

I nodded and looked him over.

"Meet me in ten minutes?"

He smiled and nodded.

"Oh by the way, dad's fly is down and your bow tie is crooked."

He looked down and laughed.

"Thanks for the catch."

I continued to my room. I closed the door quickly. I sighed. I couldn't stand the outfit anymore. I tore the dress off and changed into something more comfortable. There was something on the vanity. It said it was make up remover. Removing the makeup wasn't too hard. The clock read ten thirty. That meant Tony had three minutes before I went to bed. Just as he promised he returned to my room.

"Man your dad is hard to ditch, in a party," he said trying to lighten the mood.

But there was no humor left in me.

"Okay, time to get down to the fathering part, what's wrong?"

I looked down.

"I had my first kiss, tonight."

His face brightened.

"Wow, that's great, why are you so upset then?"

"Well, he ran away almost immediately after it happened."

He frowned. He sat next to me sighed.

"Feel like you scared him off for good?" he asked.

"Yah, I thought he wanted it too, he leaned in first and I filled the gap."

He chuckled bitterly. He wrapped one hand around me and pulled me over. My head rested on his shoulder.

"Wait, how did you know?" I asked.

The bittersweet chuckle fell from his mouth again.

"Same thing happened between me and your dad."

I was shocked.

"Really?"

"Yah, your dad didn't really know his sexual orientation so when I kissed him it kind of shocked him."

"So wait are you saying the guy I kissed is gay?"

He laughed.

"No, dear god no, I think it scared him a little, were you friends with this guy before?"

"Yes, I am."

"Then maybe he's scared this will ruin your friendship."

"Is that why dad was scared?" I asked.

"Nah, he didn't know he liked guys until that little kiss, but that's for another night, now off to bed, get some sleep and you will feel better in the morning."

I nodded. I got into bed as Tony turned out the light.

"Night, Chris."

"Night…. Dad."

He paused outside the doorway before closing the door. I heard him yell yes from outside the door and I smiled. Maybe it wouldn't be too bad having two dads now.

Well, it finally happened guys. They kissed. Find out next chapter if this relationship will last.
