Hi guys.
It's been many years since I've touched this fic. I am many years past the age when I started writing this story, and I was surprised to find that the writing still mostly holds to my standards, though obviously it's on the juvenile side.
I apologize for leaving the fic unfinished, but I unfortunately grew out of my Naruto phase after being a fan for over a decade. I will always treasure the memories of my fandom days, I grew as a person because of the camaraderie and support.
That being said, I don't like fics being abandoned without some sort of conclusion for a reader. It is tragic, in several ways. But since I am perfectly alive and still very much writing, I would like to give you all the plot synopsis, so you at least have SOMEthing. (I will be doing so with all my fics actually, but I loved this one the most, so it gets its due diligence first.)
A few points:
-I do not have the original plot synopsis. That was on an old ipod touch (! so old!) which I no longer have the charger for, and am not certain would turn on anyways. so i can't tie up ALL the loose ends for u, sorry. (and they ALL were accounted for on that old phone… wow. sadge moment tbh.)
-I don't remember all the details of this fic exactly, so if you have further questions you are welcome to pm or review and I will do my best to edit the chapter to include an answer.

- i DO still write. I'm in the Genshin Impact fandom on ao3, I write under the pseudonym 'cutesoleil.' I plan on sort of re-approaching a mermaid AU for Haikaveh, if that's up your alley, and it will certainly borrow a few key aspects from Icewater. Look forward to it!
SYNOPSIS
-there was a prophecy, and it was going to be fulfilled ALMOST to the letter (but not quite) - i dont remember the prophecy at all so you'll just have to fill in the blanks yourselves, sorry…
-Sakura would return to the sea and gather the support of the sea witches
-Naruto would unite the other nations to come to Oceanica's aid in battle
-Shikamaru and Ino's plan to involve Konoha (Sasuke's land? is it Konoha? i dont recall lol) relied on taking a boat to Oceanica's waters, having Sakura leave the boat there, obviously drawing attention from Orochimaru, and having the boat be attacked. It works.
-Shikamaru and Ino return with a reason to split the royal court in which side of the ocean war to ally with; in the chaos, Sasuke challenges Madara to give up his crown
-Sasuke and Madara fight, and Sasuke uses his fire to achieve victory, taking the crown for himself. He decides to side with Oceanica.
-Sakura and Naruto lead their army to Oceanica's castle and win the battle, but the trident is missing from the throne room and Orochimaru is nowhere to be found
-Sakura understood that he would be elsewhere, strategically, but with the castle back in her ownership, her merfolk are bolstered to revolt against the remaining Sound eelguards across the land
-Sakura and her army approach the ruins of Arcticia (or whatever it's called) and they begin their assault
-Orochimaru spills Minato's blood (does not kill him, just hurts him) and the royal blood lifts the curse placed upon the land, bringing it above the surface once more
-Sasuke takes small vessels to navigate the Ice Ridges and with Shikamaru's guidance makes it to Arcticia, which is now abovewater
-Sakura's army cannot follow her to the land, but they fight eelguards still in the water so wtvr
-Sakura again strikes a deal with a sea witch to gain limbs, and goes to meet Orochimaru in the castle
-Hinata and Neji (who sided with Sasuke before at court) joined him on the ship, and spot Sakura's pink hair (which is again cut short, though it had grown out a bit before the new deal)
-Sasuke and friends storm the castle aboveground
-Hinata falls overboard when underwater fighting reaches the ship, Naruto rescues her
-Sakura sneaks into Minato's prison and heals him but is captured by eelguards
-She is taken to the throne room where Orochimaru taunts her, holding her father's trident
-Sasuke and his crew roll in and even the playing field, but Orochimaru takes Sakura hostage, freezing the fighting
-As he holds her hostage, Sakura remembers Orochimaru's boasting and realizes royal blood will sink or raise the land. She slices her finger with the trident, which triggers the kingdom to begin sinking once more
-Sasuke rescues Sakura from Orochimaru and the crew makes it out of the castle, until Orochimaru forcefully breaks the spell on Sakura; she turns back into a mermaid and Orochimaru chases her in the open waters
-Sasuke returns to his ship and takes aim with a harpoon, infusing it with his fire magic; he hesitates to use it, worrying Sakura will be caught in the crossfire
-Sakura sees the harpoon on the ship, and as Orochimaru overpowers her, drawing blood, she manages to wrestle the trident from him and takes aim
-She shoots at the ship, jostling the waters around it, and Sasuke loses his grip on the harpoon, launching it
-Sakura dodges since she anticipates it, but Orochimaru is hit by the harpoon
-Orochimaru curses Sakura as he dies, and she begins to turn to foam (very very slowly since she wields the trident)
-Sasuke dives into the water and meets Sakura halfway
-she hands him the trident, allowing him to breathe underwater, and he confesses his love to her, which she returns; they share a kiss as she dissolves away
-then, granny Chiyo's final spell takes effect: she promised Tsunade that her daughter would be safe from harm, and this old promise breaks Orochimaru's curse, and Sakura regains her body, seeing this memory in her mind as the spell takes full effect
-The castle again rises above-water, this time for good (remember, Orochimaru drew her blood)
-Sakura tells the witches that they can have the kingdom back, since she has Oceanica to rule over, and so long as their new rulers do not have her royal blood, their nation will never again sink
-Sakura, with the power of the trident, can now walk above land whenever she wants to; she is crowned rightful Queen of Oceanica, and Sasuke proposes marriage to her, which she accepts
-Sakura is unsure how they will manage their lands, but decides that together they can usher in a new future which no longer separates the land from the sea, but unites them
-loose ends: the Kyuubi curse is lifted with the ice land's rising again, freeing Naruto from its burden; as thanks, Kyuubi grants him the power to shift his form, so Naruto can freely visit Sasuke and Sakura both ; Naruto and Hinata begin a very tentative, awkward courtship that Sakura is unsure Naruto is even aware of ; Minato is returned safe and sound to his country ; the Sound organization is dissolved, with Shikamaru's guidance and Sakura's new assets and army ; Ino leaves Sasuke's castle to follow Sakura undersea, to serve her there and to just be friends (how this happens… idk, trident powers? i dont remember the reasoning for this part ngl) ; Oceanica's coral walls shimmer beautifully when Sakura is crowned, turning a beautiful pink coral color to match Sakura's hair (again, trident power handwave, im assuming) ; Sakura continues to heal people with her powers, even now that she is crowned Queen
-and they lived happily ever after. the end. :)
