Chapter 29

"We can be a family again!" she said so cheerly is was like she was alright from a glance. But with the knife in her hand made it all go away and transformed itself into a nightmare.

"I thought leaving you behind so many times through the years would have taught you wait for your mother. Mother is upset, disappointed, and angry with you! You shall be punished!" her face becomes filled with rage was he raises the knife and pushes her foot right on took of my spine, forcing it into my body. I covered my face so the both arms and closed my eyes in fear of what will happen. Will my mom let me go or...

Kill me on the spot?

"Freeze! Do not move! Put your hands where I can see them!" a shout said at the end of the alley. I peeked over and saw Detective Hannes and many policemen at the end of the alley with their guns pointing at my mother. An officer repeated and released the safety on his gun. Reluctantly, she drops the knife and puts her hands on her head.

Two officers run you p her, putting their guns away and take out their handcuffs. They roughy put the cuffs on her. But the entire time, she smiled like nothing was happening.

"Are you alright?" Detective Hannes asked me. He gently touched my shoulder but my mind blacked out.

...

When I woke up, I was next to Petra who was now awake. She was watching me with such a worried look.

"Oh Goodness you are awake!" she cried. She tried to get out of bed but was pushed back by Armin. I felt arms wrapped around me. Erwin squeezed me tight against his chest. My heart tightened and all the memories of what happened came back.

I felt myself shiver and nausea as the memories of me rolling around in blood as my mother tried to kill me. My sight was blurred by hot, stinging tears. I couldn't hold them back and I buried my face into his shoulder and cried my heart out.

"Dad..." I said hoarsely as I cried. He squeezed me harder and I continued to cry.

After an hour, an officer came in with a few questions. Erwin and Petra forced the officer to let them stay. He did, giving into their begging but made Armin and Lucas leave.

"You only have a few bruises and scrates, nothing fatal so you are going to be fine but I want you to answer these questions to the best of your abilities." he said kindly, relaxing me a little bit. Then Detective Hannes and Detective Pixis came in with think folders.

"Pixis..." I said surprised that he was here.

"Missed me kid? I bet you did." he said with that prideful smile as always. "We need you answer these questions please." he said and they both took a seat next to me. "So tell us what happened." he asked.

I told them what had happened with my mother. I told them everything actually. The time she call and to when we met at the diner. I couldn't stop talking. Some of my words were getting messy and parts of my speech was twisted. I kept going. I didn't know why but for all I knew...

A mother like that can't be anywhere near me.

Not ever.

"Why didn't you tell us any of this?" Detective Hannes asked.

"Because...I'm selfish?" I shrugged and sniffed. "I didn't know she would end up a killer! I really didn't! I just didn't want to leave my father, my...new family. I have never felt so...happy in my life before. I love that feeling." I finished. They all nodded their heads and wrote some things in their notebooks.

"I'm going to give you a few pictures okay? I want you to see if you knew any of these people." the officer said. Pixis and Hannes handed me some pictures of the people who have been killed by my mother. I didn't recognized their faces but their names I know.

I separated them by gender first. Then I put them into groups of Why they knew my mother. I doubled checked everything so I wouldn't screw things up like I already did. Some of these people could have been alive if only I have told someone earlier.

"These five..." I began. " they were people that my mother owed money to, these eight were for prostitution..." my voice wavered as I continued to talk.

"Do you know these three kids?" Detective Hannes displayed pictures of three teenagers in front of me. My voice got caught in my throat when I saw one of the pictures. I pointed on a young girl with black pigtails.

"Mina Carolina..." my voice disappeared and was replaced by sobs and wails.

If I only had called the police sooner, she would have been still alive with these two other teenagers who were boys, Thomas and Nickolas.

I felt so much guilt and devastation, I broke down in front of everyone in the room.
