In the middle of an abandoned warehouse, two men who looked strikingly similar walked out from the shadows. The two were clearly twins, but could easily be told apart by their hairstyles, and the fact that one was wearing an eye patch. They both looked around carefully before staring towards the opposite end of the room. "Looks clear." The brother with the eye patch said.

Numerous figures began walking out from the other end of the room. They were big brooding figures who were being led by a very muscular Chinese man. He wore blue pants, a red sash around his waist, and had a thin mustache. "Looks can be deceiving. Did you scan the area thoroughly? We could be being watched." The man asked.

The two brothers looked irritated. "Of course we scanned the area. We've got way more to lose in this than you do. Now can we please hurry this up already? We've got a deadline to meet and I'd rather not run the risk of some stray hero coming in and crashing the party."

"Very well then." The man snapped his fingers and one of the men behind him placed a small black case in his hand. He held it out towards them and then opened it. Inside was a small glowing green jewel. "The Shard of Shang. It emits a very unique energy. If your boss is truly looking to make a new weapon, I can't think of a better power source to use than this. Take a good look Stabbington. It's a rare sight." He explained.

The two of them looked closely at the jewel. One of them reached forward to take it, but the man quickly pulled it back and closed it. The brother with the eye patch smirked back. "Alright then Tai Lung, it's obviously the real thing. I can feel the weird energy even with that thing closed. So here's our end of the bargain."

The other brother stepped forward and then held up a strange looking gun that had a blue glow on the side. "These guns use zero point energy to completely and totally immobilize their targets. It should be more than enough help you and your partner take care of your little 'Dragon Warrior' problem."

Tai Lung snorted "I doubt that. In my experience the job is best done with your own two hands." Tai Lung said cracking his neck. "But my partner insist on trying to keep up with modern weaponry, and while I can't say I agree with his means of doing things, his intelligence is something I can't question. I can imagine he would be most impressed with these."

"Great, so do we have a deal?"

"We do." Tai Lung said before tossing him the Shard. The brothers quickly caught it, and then Tai Lung nodded his head towards the crates of weapons behind them. "Load them onto the truck and let's get going." He said. The men behind him moved forward and began grabbing the crates and making their way to the truck outside.

As they left, the Stabbington brothers looked over their prize. This jewel would be exactly what their boss was looking for. It was going to turn the tide in their battle against the 'heroes'. One of them looked up towards Tai Lung. "Speaking of your partner, where in the world is he anyway? He was supposed to be here right?" The two eyed Stabbington asked curiously.

"He's never been one for events like this. While he is skilled in combat, he prefers to avoid it if possible. I on the other hand have no qualms about fighting." He said balling his fist up. "I was honestly a little disappointed. I was told there were numerous heroes who kept watch over this area. I had hoped to combat at least one of them before heading back to China."

Unbeknownst to the group, a figure watched close from the shadows. "Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't think they'll be showing up tonight. We've been monitoring their patrol schedules to make sure this little meeting would go uninterrupted."

The figure in the dark scoffed. So that's how they'd been evading them for so long. She made a mental note to stretch out the patrolling schedules a bit more. As for this little meeting, she was going to have to call in to the rest of the team so they could help her break this little party up. She reached up and pressed the button on her chest, putting her distress signal on.

"Are you sure about that? Because I'm pretty sure we have an uninvited guest." Violet grew wide eyed and turned to see Tai Lung staring in her direction. She felt a child up his spine. She could tell it wasn't just a hunch. He could somehow see her right now. "You may be able to turn invisible, but your powers appear to give off a certain, very faint, Chi. It's rather interesting."

The Stabbington's looked totally confused, but then Violet made herself visible. "Well, no point in hiding anymore." She muttered. The twin brothers looked up and then glared at her. "Cato and Grunt Stabbington, Tai Lung, you're all under arrest for the sale of illegal firearm-"

A blast flew by her and Violet ducked barely avoiding it. She glared towards Cato who had aimed a large complicated looking weapon. "Hold off the Incredi-brat while we get everything loaded onto the truck!" He shouted before firing at her again.

She put a force field around herself blocking the blast. "This is just great…" She said watching as the henchman around them began shooting at her as well. There were a handful who, along with the Stabbington brothers, grabbed the weapons and began heading towards the door.

Tai Lung stared at her for a few second, like he was thinking over staying to fight her, or leaving with them. "Tai Lung! We need to get moving before her team shows up! We can't take all of them! Think about the deal!" She heard Cato shout. Tai Lung sighed and grabbed an impressive amount of crates before heading out of the door as well.

Violet frowned. She couldn't let them get away. There wasn't going to be a better chance to catch both the Stabbingtons and Tai Lung. But she also couldn't go after them with all these small fry shooting at her. They were actually being smart about it and were taking turns to shoot, so she couldn't let her shield down without risking a hit.

Suddenly a figure crashed through the window and flew towards the henchman. The figure kicked one of the henchmen in the face before landing down in a crouched position. It was obviously a boy, about her age, and he was wearing a white and blue costume with a black mask. He stood up, and before any of the henchmen could lift their weapons, fired two guns he had holstered at his sides.

Each shot knocked the guns out of their hands, and after shaking on the ground for a few seconds, the guns broke apart into pieces. He turned and greeted her with a smirk. "You called for assistance milady." He said giving her a bow.

Violet rolled her eyes, but had a small smile on her face. Of course Wilbur would be the first one to show up. One of the henchman pulled out a stun stick and ran after Wilbur, but Violet raised her hand striking him in the head with a force field, and knocking him out. "Tai Lung and the Stabbington's are getting away! We need to catch them!"

Wilbur turned around and kicked an approaching henchman in the face. "I'll deal with these clowns, you go after them!" He said before firing his gun and knocking another back.

"No way, no one goes in alone, you know that." Violet said before jumping down and kicking a henchman back before landing. She turned and flung a force field at another, knocking his feet from under him and causing him to fall.

Both Violet and Wilbur moved and were now back to back. Wilbur fired his guns and Violet began throwing force fields around. The henchman, realizing they were out matched, began taking cover. Some of them had hand guns and started firing back, but Violet easily shielded them from the attacks. "You went in here alone!" Wilbur argued.

Violet scoffed. "That's different, me and Pink had to split up to catch some robbers, and I just stumbled across all of this!" She said smashing a crate that a few men were hiding behind. "And speaking of going in alone, where is YOUR partner?"

"Cuchilla was… distracted!" Wilbur said tossing a grenade towards a group of them. It exploded and encased them all in a foam like substance. "Just call Dash to chase them down!"

"Dash is- Look out!" They both ducked as a rocket flew over their heads. Violet turned and used a force field to yank the rocket launcher out of the attacking henchman's hand, and Wilbur fired his gun knocking him out. "He's putting out a fire right now!"

Two more henchman came running at them with swords, but suddenly two knives whizzed through the air knocking the weapons out of their hands. A black haired boy in a silver and white costume jumped down and tossed more knives. The blades pinned two of them against the wall by their shirts. "Sorry I'm late." Antonio, AKA 'Cuchilla' said smirking.

Another figure jumped down and kicked a henchman in the jaw. He stumbled back only to be struck in the stomach with the hilt of a sword. He feel to his knees and was then struck in the back of the head. His attacker, a blonde girl in a pink Ninja outfit. "We'll handle these guys, go catch the big fish." She said unsheathing a short sword.

Violet nodded towards her partner Pink Star, otherwise known as Edith Gru. "C'mon Cap!" She said before heading towards the door. Wilbur, or rather Captain Future, followed after her.

When they got outside, Violet saw the truck pulling off. Wilbur pressed a button on his wrist and suddenly a bike drove around the corner and parked perfectly in front of them. He got on and Violet jumped on behind him. "You hold on tight now." He said amused.

"Just shut up and drive." He took off and Violet quickly wrapped her arms around him. "You could have given me a warning before you took off!"

"What's the fun in that?"

They sped down the street after the truck, quickly managing to catch up to it. One of the brothers saw them approaching in the rear view mirrors. "We got some company." He said nudging his brother. The other smiled before pulling up a light machine gun.

Wilbur and Violet both saw the large gun being pointed at them. "Uh-oh." Wilbur said moving out of the way as they began firing. He drove up from the other side and Violet began standing up. "What are you doing?" He asked.

"I'm going to try and stop them, keep them distracted out here." She said before leaping off the bike. She grabbed onto the back of the truck before climbing her way up to the top.

Wilbur watched as she made her way up. Distract them? How was he supposed to distract them? He heard a click and looked up to see the Stabbington brother aiming the machine gun at him once more. "Crap!" He said veering to the left.

As the brother kept firing, he called out to his two cohorts. "Hey, I think the Incredi-brat is on top of the truck." He warned.

Tai-Lung chuckled. "I'll take care of it. I was looking for a bit of action." He said before opening the door. He climbed out, closing the door back with his foot, and climbed up to the top of the truck. He looked around, but couldn't spot anyone. "Hmm…"

He felt a punch to the face and then stumbled back. Tai Lung quickly looked around but saw no one. He grunted. Of course, this one could turn invisible. How could he have forgotten that so quickly? He closed his eyes and then began listening. He heard footsteps coming towards him, and then reached out and grabbed something.

Violet turned visible and tried to yank her fist from Tai-Lung's grip. "Well, this wasn't nearly as interesting as I imagined." He said disappointed. He lifted his fist and punched at her, but she formed a force field right in front of her face. He punched it and howled out in pain.

She quickly took the chance to pull her fist free before throwing a punch herself. This time however she created a force field around her fist, and when it made contact, Tai-Lung was knocked back and nearly fell of the truck. "How's that for interesting." Violet challenged.

Tai-Lung quickly got back to his feet and then wiped the blood from his nose. "So it looks like you've got some fight in you after all." He said taking a fighting stance. The two charged at each other, ready to come to blows.

Meanwhile, Wilbur was still outside of the truck. He could see Violet up top fighting someone, so he supposed the job of stopping the truck now fell on him. "Why do I always get stuck with the hard jobs?" He said driving forward. The minute he came into view, the Stabbington started shooting at him. He skillfully avoided the hailstorm of bullets being fired at him.

He drove up beside them and then fired his laser gun, knocking the gun out of his hand. He pulled out a small little orb and tossed it at the truck. It hit the side of the wheel and stuck there. He turned around and set his bike on auto drive before flying up with his rocket boots. It was easy to spot the two figures on top of the truck.

Violet was holding her own against Tai-Lung, but it was clear he had the advantage. He was a more experienced martial artist than her, and it showed in how easily he was gaining ground on her. Wilbur flew down and fired a blast at Tai-Lung who jumped back. He landed, put an arm around Violet, and then pulled her to him. "Sorry to cut in dude, but we have to fly."

He flew off with Violet who quickly grabbed onto him. "What part of 'warning' do you not seem to understand?" She asked.

Wilbur just shrugged. "It's more fun seeing you freak out like this. Besides, I didn't want you to be on the truck when this happened." He pressed a button on his wrist and suddenly the orb on the wheel of the truck began glowing. It dispersed, and suddenly the entire wheel was covered in ice. The truck began to swerve on the road, and after a few seconds it tipped over.

Tai-Lung jumped off the truck and landed gracefully on his feet. The truck fell over and slid into a nearby building. Wilbur looked panicked for a few seconds, before realizing that it was a flower shop. It was closed, so the chances of someone actually being in there was small. Still, Audrey was probably going to give him an earful for destroying plant life.

"Well, you've done it again Wilbur. Saved the day, and cause a load of property damage in the process." Violet said as they landed.

Wilbur chuckled. "Well, that's just my style. Should we go after Tai-Lung?" He asked as he turned and saw the criminal's figure leaping form building to building, shrinking from view.

"No, we probably won't catch him, and the others might need our help." She said before turning around to see the Stabbington brother bumbling out of the truck. They began running down the street. "Besides, they should have all the info we need."

Wilbur pulled out his gun and fired a liquid aimed at their feet. They were quickly stuck to the ground, unable to move. "Okay then, I guess we're settling for thing 1 and thing 2." He said a bit disappointed. Catching Tai-Lung could have helped them discover whatever outside source their enemies were getting a good chunk of their foreign weapons from.

"Now, let's hurry up so we can get back to base." Violet said. "The rest of the team is probably wondering where we are by now."

The doors to the base opened and Violet, Wilbur, Edith, and Antonio walked in. The first person who had greeted them was Margo, who had a look on concern on her face. "Hey, I heard you guys ran into the Stabbington brothers. You're okay right?" She asked. Though she had addressed the group, it was obvious she really meant Edith.

Margo had been hovering over her younger sister like a hawk since she'd started hero work. It was no surprised that she was a little overprotective. Violet felt the same way about Dash, but he had super speed, so she could afford to worry a little less. "I'm fine." Edith said with a sigh. "I can take care of myself you know."

In an instant, Dash had zipped next to her. "Yeah, she's a ninja after all. She can totally take care of herself." He said putting an arm around her shoulder. Edith growled in annoyance and then swung a fist at him, but he easily avoided her. He zipped back and looked at her fist. "Nice cut on your hand by the way."

"What?" Margo said in disbelief.

Edith blushed and pulled her hand back. "You are so dead." She said glaring at Dash. She turned to her sister. "It's nothing, I'm fine. Just a scratch."

"She got winged by a dagger." Antonio said bluntly. Edith shot him a glare which he ignored. "It isn't like she wasn't going to find out anyway. Be more careful next time."

Edith was about to snap at him, but Margo put a hand on her shoulder. "Go to the infirmary and get it checked out anyway. Tai-Lung was there, and his gang is known for killing some of their victims through poison." She advised. "Just to be safe, for me."

The pink dressed girl sighed. She suddenly punched Dash in the side, causing him to grunt, and then made her way towards the infirmary. Margo turned towards Antonio. "Thanks for looking after her." She said smiling.

Antonio shrugged. "It was no problem." He felt something rubbing against his leg, and didn't even have to look to know it was his pet Bear Owl. He reached down and rubbed his hand against its fur. "Thanks for looking after Gaara while I was on patrol." He knew that the big cat got lonely when he was away.

The two stood in an awkward silence for a moment. "Well, I should… go check on Edith. You know make sure she's okay. So, you know, thanks… again." She said before walking off.

Antonio just nodded and walked off towards his room. Wilbur and Violet watched them both as they left. "Well, that was painful to watch. I don't get it, they like each other right?" Wilbur asked looking towards the raven haired girl.

Violet sighed. "There's a lot going on between them. And not just their dads being villains and… hating each other. You probably wouldn't understand. It's a mature person problem."

Wilbur raised an eyebrow. "I'm mature."

"You're about as mature as this one is." She said pointing down at Dash.

The blond scowled at her. "Oh whatever. Anyway, the rest of the team headed home as soon as they found out you guys were okay. But Dad is going to want you in the conference room for debriefing. Nice job with the Stabbington's!" He zipped off.

Wilbur sighed and shoved his hands in his pockets. "Man, what a drag. I hate having debriefing sessions with your dad. The guy has it out for me." Wilbur said. He didn't know why Bob seemed to dislike him so much… okay, maybe he had a bit of an idea. But he didn't think giving him the stink eye every time he came around was necessary.

"I'm sure he won't be that mad at you. After all, we've been hunting the Stabbington's for months. Even if Tai-Lung somehow managed to get away with the Shard of Shang, tonight's catch is sure to brighten his mood." Violet said nudging him with his arm.

Wilbur chuckled. "Maybe. But I'm sure he'll find some reason to give me the evil eye. I just seem to always be on his bad side. And when you have a man who can bring down buildings, you really don't want to be on his bad side."

Violet sighed. "You're being dramatic. He likes you." She said. Though she knew it wasn't completely true. Her father seemed to have the crazy notion that something was going on between them. Of course that wasn't true because… well, nothing could go on between them.

She felt heat come to her cheeks at that last thought. It wasn't as if she had never imagined her and Wilbur in that way. In fact, if she was talking about candidates to date, he'd be at the top of the list. He was a hero, so she wouldn't have to worry about her schedule getting in the way. He was smart, clever, funny… handsome.

But she knew there was one crucial thing in the way. He was from a different time. A different time that they were currently trying to change. It was a wonder they hadn't altered the future to a point where he'd disappeared back to his own timeline by now. Whatever they could have together wouldn't last. Once they were set up enough to stop this invasion, he would leave.

Well, he wouldn't leave. He would vanish. Changing the timeline and defeating the aliens would mean he'd never have to had come back in the first place. Since he was still here, they reasoned that the invasion must have still happened. But eventually they would be prepared enough to stop it. And when they were, Wilbur would go back to his own time. Without any memories of even meeting her. So they couldn't start any relationship. It would never work.

Of course, this was assuming that Wilbur even felt the same way about her. "You okay Vi?" Wilbur asked noticing that she had spaced out.

She shook her head, blushing deeper. "Y-yeah, I'm fine. Just a little tired. Let's just get to the debriefing room. So we can get home already." She said. He nodded as they made their way inside, where they saw Bob standing in front of a screen, muttering something to himself. "Dad, we're back." Violet called.

The man turned around and greeted them with a smirk. "Hey sweetie. Hey Wilbur. Where are your teammates?" He asked.

"Tired. We can handle the debriefing. They didn't actually confront Tai-Lung or the Stabbington's anyway." Wilbur explained.

Bob shrugged. "Okay then. I didn't really need a full debrief anyway. I was just calling you to let you know we found some information." Bob said turning back around towards the screen. He tapped it with his finger and a picture of a building appeared. "This place look familiar?" The two teens looked at the place, but couldn't quite tell what it was. "We think it might be a facility, similar to the one we found the others in a year ago."

Both Wilbur and Violet grew wide eyed. It had been a year since they'd rescued the others from that laboratory, a year since they officially formed the team. And now they may have stumbled across another one. "I'll call back the others, we need to-"

"Calm down. We're fairly sure that there aren't any captives there like last time. We've monitored everything that goes in and out of there, and it's highly unlikely that they're performing anymore experiments." Bob said. "But they do have connections to Southern Industries, so there's probably something we can use to finally incriminate them."

Violet smiled. "About time." It had been frustrating knowing that Southern Industries had been behind so much crime, but not having the solid evidence to take them down. The head of the organization Hans always had someone to take the fall on behalf of the company.

"Violet, I want you to take a team and investigate the place. Remember that this is a stealth mission, so pick your team wisely. Wilbur, I want you and the others to go out on patrol as usual. Keep up the appearance that everything is normal." Bob said.

Wilbur nodded. "Got it sir."

"We won't let you down dad." Violet said.

He smiled at her proudly. "I know you won't sweetie." He said patting her on the head. He then turned to Wilbur, giving him a mixed look. "And I'm sure you'll do fine as well. That's all for now. We can do the debriefing some other. I'm sure you're both tired. Go home and get some sleep." He said turning the screen off.

"Will do sir." Wilbur said waving.

"Good night dad, don't stay behind too late. You need your rest too." Violet said before giving her father a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "See you in the morning."

The two teens walked out leaving the man alone. He smiled to himself and then took a seat before staring up at the ceiling. To think there was a time when none of this would have been possible. Where these kids would have been forced into hiding.

But they weren't. They were continuing the legacy of heroes, protecting the people. And they were going a good job of it. They had cut crime rates down, saved countless people, and even handled their fair share of super villains. Not to mention how well the kids worked together as a team. They were like family. He couldn't have been more proud. He only hoped things would stay like this.

A little blue light began flickering on and off at the top of a building. The light suddenly grew into an orb, and the brightness intensified. After a few seconds, the orb vanished and three figured remained standing on the rooftop.

It was none other than Cypher, Brutus, and Scourge.

Brutus lifted his wrist and looked at a small device. "It appears we're only a year off. This was better than expected." He said smirking. "If we're lucky the human will have forgotten about us. It will give us the element of surprise."

Scourge scoffed. "He won't have forgotten about us. That filthy ape is a lot of things, but he isn't stupid. We may still bare the element of surprise, but it won't be as huge an advantage as you believe." He said looking around the place. He chuckled. And he thought the earth had looked primitive before.

"You seem to know your enemy well son." Cypher said with a hint of amusement.

"Yes. His hatred of the one known as Wilbur has driven him to become one of the most efficient hunter I've ever seen. But do not let that anger misdirect you from our true mission." Brutus advised.

Under normal circumstances he would have responded to Brutus with a snarky comment, but his father had a respect for the fellow veteran, and he didn't want to offend him. Besides, as much as he hated to admit it, he was right. "I won't." He said simply.

"Don't worry son. We'll find them soon enough. In all likeliness they'll be coming to us. This is supposedly a golden age for heroes, so if push comes to shove we can slaughter a few people, and we're sure to gain the hero's attention. We find the heroes, we find our targets, then we can leave this miserable dump of a time, and planet."

Scourge smiled. "Slaughter humans, my favorite past time." He pulled out a spear like weapon from behind his back and looked ready to charge, but his father lifted his hand.

"Patience my boy. We'll get there eventually, but for now we scout the area. Seek out advantages we can use. Remember, no planet was destroyed in a single Star Click."

Scourge looked towards his father and laughed. "But we can try, right?" With that he jumped off to go scouting, leaving the two older man behind.

"He certainly is eager." Brutus said.

"Reminds me of our youths. Only he's twice the warrior I was at my age." He said cracking his neck. "Still, old warriors like us carry wisdom, and until the boy learns that I worry. Thank you for putting up with him Brutus. I know he can be… difficult."

"It's a honor to mentor your son. He may very well be the greatest conqueror the universe had ever seen. Now, why don't we get moving? We have heroes to kill."
