"Mother, I'm back." I said, as I walked through the door. She ran up to me.

"What were you thinking?!" She yelled in my ear. I'm definitely gonna have hearing problems after this. I thought as I winced. Her piercing gold eyes staring at me, her black locks of hair put up in a tight bun.

"Sorry for worrying you again, mother."

"Don't you dare do it again!"

"But, I-"

"No but's. Now head to your room, you're grounded!"

"Mo-" Slap! She slapped me, WHY? Why can't she just listen to me!

"No, go to your room."

"NO, listen to me. I was not finished yet." I paused to catch my breath, holding my tears back. Why doesn't she ever listen to anyone? "I got an offer from a hero that I'm accepting even if you don't agree! The hero Visible offered to sponsor me as a Hero academy student, I'm going whether you like it or not." I held her heavy gaze, trying not to look away. I have to show her I mean what I said.

"Y-yo-you can't." She started, "You can't do this to me. Don't you know how dangerous hero work is?"

"Yes I'm fully aware. I can't be selfish and only protect myself." She looked at me with a surprised expression, it looked like she saw a ghost. But weirdly enough she smiled and started to cry afterwards. W-what is this? Why is she crying?

"You know your Father said the same thing before he died." Shocked, I looked into her eyes once more. She never told me anything about my father before, I don't even know what he looks like. I thought he just ran off or something.

"Who was my father? Tell me what did he look like?" I asked, questions filling my mind.

She sat up wiping away the tears in her golden eyes, the same leaky gold eyes I have and began, "Your fathers name was Bard J. Belcher, his hero name was Crimson Leader." He was a hero? He was Crimson Leader no less? The one who was famed for being one the best strategic hero's. "He came up with the name because of his hair and ability, his ability was much like yours. He could control others' quirks but to a small extent of what your quirk does. There were some quirks it didn't work on, that's how he died." Another tear rolled down her face to be wiped away.

"You were just an infant when he died, so I didn't tell you about his death. But as you grew you looked more and more like him, it scared me that I could lose you too. You were the only reason I stayed so strong." She sniffed at the end, I handed her a tissue. "He had dark red eyes and hair, it was so dark I thought it was brown when I first saw it from afar." She pulled the black strands of hair that fell out of her bun.

"I have one more question." my mom looked at me, willing me to ask as she blowed her nose. "Would you allow me to continue his legacy, and go to the hero school?"

Looking down, my mother nodded. "You can go, just be careful. I can't lose you, Cherry."

"I promise, I promise won't die."

"You better not." My mom said, sniffing. "Are you hungry?"

"Starving."

"Let's make dinner together." She looked around as if she didn't care if I helped, but her eyes and body language said otherwise. She is such a tsundere, I wonder if she's the one who got with dad or was it the other way around?

"Alright mother." I agreed, "But you're cutting the onions."

She chuckled a bit, "Fine but you're sauteing them."

"Alright, what are we making for dinner?"

"We are going to have steak with sauteed onions, mashed potatoes and gravy, we need to celebrate you being able to go to a hero highschool."

"Wow, thank you so much Mom! Steak sounds so good right now!" My stomach growled at the mention of food. "Can I make the mashed taters?" I asked.

"Alright, I will make the gravy and steak." She responded looking like she gained 30 extra years of life. How does she have so much energy?

"Okay!" I will try to match her excited nature, "I start by grabbing the ingredients." I went to the refrigerator, after opening it I grabbed the steak mom bought earlier today. I also grabbed the beef broth, butter, milk and two onions. Onions in the fridge? I tilted my head slightly to the right side. "Mom, why are the onions in the fridge?"

"Oh, I heard if you put the onion in the refrigerator before you cut it up, it won't spray as much of its juices." she swiftly responded.

"Makes sense." I said, after closing the fridge. I set them on the counter next to me, then I walked to the food pantry, opened the door and saw a sack of potatoes. There they are, I thought she might have put them with the onions. After grabbing the potatoes, I grabbed a couple spices I saw on the shelf in there. With my hands full I called to my mom, "Mom, can you close the door after me, my hands are full."

"Sure silly." she walked to the door as I walked out. I set all the ingredients on the counter. Let's see, I think that's it. I opened the sack of potatoes, then emptied them out into a pan. Then I rinsed them, then one by one I peeled the skin from them and put them back in the pan. Then I filled the pan halfway with water and put it on the stove.

"Well, I finished with the potatoes for now." I glanced at my mom. She was already done with one of the two onions and was working on the other one. Turning in my direction she smiled.

"That's good I'm almost done with the onions." I looked at the spices, alright we have salt and pepper, those are must haves with potatoes. I pushed the two grinders towards the milk. Ground garlic would compliment the potatoes nicely, as well as would the ground onion. I pushed the other two spices with the other two. Seeing a packet of ranch flavoring for making ranch, I grabbed it and put it with the others. These ranch flavoring packets always have a delicious milky flavor. "I'm done with the onion."

Those words startled me. "O-oh ok, I'll start to saute them." She handed me the bowl full of neatly sliced up onions. I quickly got a pan on the stove, then put butter in the pan. I waited for a few seconds for the butter to melt. Alright it's melted. I put the onions in the pan, watching as the onions soaked up the butter and slowly turned a translucent beige. These are going to be delicious! I turned off the heat and set the pan on a trivet, then I looked at the potatoes. They were cooked perfectly, so I turned down the heat.

I poured out the small amount of water that was in there, then added the spices and poured in the milk. I looked around frantically, where did I put the masher? Then I saw it on the counter next to the potato's pan. I grabbed it and started mashing. Once I finished mashing it wasn't an even mixture, so I used a rubber spatula to mix it the rest of the way. Once I glanced at my mom I noticed the delicious scent of the steak and gravy. "I'm finished, are you mom?" I asked.

"Yep, I finished a few minutes ago." she said as she reached up to get the plates. "I almost forgot, your brother called today."

"Really, what did he say?" I said, I haven't seen him in two months.

"He said he's been too busy to come home, and visit." She said, pausing to take a breath, "And he will come home for your birthday. He also said he'd take you to the entrance ceremony."

"My brother will take me to my entrance ceremony?" I said, confused. He normally wouldn't do something like that. I wonder if something happened at his college.

"That's what he says." She said as she set the plates down and gestured for me to sit. "Let's eat now."
