Dipper opened his eyes to the sound of creaking metal, feeling his body soaked from end to end and someone rubbing a hand through his hair, he released a yawn stopping the hand in its place
"Hello Sleepyhead" A familiar voice said to him scruffing his hair making the boy bolt upright throwing off the warm jacket, also bumping into someone behind him
"Pacifica, where's Six!?" Turning around he found the man snoring softly against the window with a slightly opened mouth, a hand loosely kept on the katana in front of him
"He fell asleep the second we picked you up" She said placing her head on her own hand, looking out the window, Turning to the former snob he barely noticed the red tinge in her cheeks; looking down he saw a massive wet patch on the lower end of her coat fueling the fire in his cheeks
"I uh-yeah um Sorry," He said forcing a cough to face the radio
"Its-its fine, it looked like you needed it" She said revealing those perfect pearly whites holding a slight shine towards him
"Yeah, hehe it's been a long day," He said resisting the urge to scratch his neck
"Just, Dipper?"
"Yeah?" Feeling a hand place itself over his, Dipper glued his eyes onto the stereo, pretending to count how many buttons there were, as she also searched out the window for anything she hasn't seen before
"I asked your friend, he didn't say much but, are you okay?" His response fell short at first, with him trying to overpower his heart from jumping out his chest with little success, clearing his throat he opened his mouth
"We're here Miss" The driver said stepping out of the car, drawing the boy's attention to the last place he expected to visit again; Northwest Manor
"Wait why are we-" "I'd hurry inside miss, I didn't bring an umbrella"
"It's okay Vincent, I'm already wet anyway" Snapping his neck in the other direction, Dipper could feel the man's eyes on him missing the amusement from the driver
"C'mon, it's too cold out here" Pacfica said pulling her friend's hand to leave the car, she began running to the Manor steps only making it halfway up until he pulled back
"Wait, what about Six?" Dipper asked, thankfully stopping under the mansion's enormous rooftop
"Oh right, Vincent" She called to the man preparing to open the other side door
"Take care of him, We'll be in my room" Seeing his nod, Dipper tried asking but the girl forced his feet into action, going up the stairs
"Come on, you need a shower and out of those peasant clothes!" She said throwing the large oak doors out of the way, ignoring the stains hitting the carpet,
"I'm not wearing that suit again!"
"You'll wear what I give you," She said with her usual bite stopping Dipper's rebuttal, continuing up the staircase they slowed into a walk down the grand hallway filled from end to end with paintings costing more than he'd ever make in his life
"Hey, Pacifica?" Dipper said not slowing the blonde in the slightest, just turning her head slightly
"Yeah?"
"You can let go of my hand now" Feeling her rip her hand back to her chest, she sped up close to a jog as he kept his pace, unable to see her face he did notice her visible ear turning red; which she covered with her hair immediately as if noticing his eyes
Opening her bedroom door; probably one of many he thought, it was entirely as he expected, probably the biggest bed he'll see ripped straight out of a Disney movie, with a size matching desk and a too many inch flat screen TV hanging over his head pointed towards the bed, and two other doors, one a plain white door and another made of glass leading out to a fancy white balcony made of stone; Pacifica walked past a white door with golden flower accents to a random part of the wall, pressing her hand against it, it opened a secret entrance revealing a small seperate room filled with at least a hundred different outfits tightly lining its coat racks
"Now let's see what fits…." She started grabbing two outfits off the wall facing the boy, holding a green sea foam t-shirt covered in zig zags in one hand
"...and what works" She finished replacing it with a pink strapless dress with a large diamond printed on the back
"You're joking right?"
"Well I think I might have a hoodie you could wear if you can't wear something my size?" She said poking his stomach making him cover it with both arms
"Oh I'm sorry I don't have six personal chefs serve me fancy weight loss souffle" He replied getting another poke to his chest
"Are you calling me overweight?!" She said digging her finger deeper, dropping the clothes to the floor, she poked him again, he grabbed her hand before she could repeat the motion
"No-I-I was joking!" He said catching her other arm trying to grab his face, pushing him back a step
"No, You were, You just called me fat!" She said pushing his back into the wall, still trying to grab his face
"Stop, Stop I'm sorry okay, calm down!" She kept pushing onwards with a growl, throwing herself against him her hands were pushed up, letting her grab onto his scalp
"Who do you think you are coming into my room, calling me fat!"
"You started it, and you basically kidnapped me!" He said gripping onto her wrists keeping it against his head to stop her pulls
"Do you know how many rich boys would love to come into my room, and wear my clothes!" She said her breaths getting shorter with each word
"You made that sound weird on purpose!" He shot back, feeling his arms turn into lead; with one final push she forced his head onto the wall with a tap of his skull, forcing air into their lungs neither moved for a moment, letting Pacifica see beads of sweat run down his forehead, a small red discolouration in his skin peeking out from under the chocolate tuft of hair blowing up slightly from her exhales, trailing her eyes down her vision nearly doubled from his nose, barely an inch away from hers, his breath tickling her lips
Pushing him harder into the wall to propel herself backwards, she turned her back to him with crossed arms, feeling her face burning hotter than a volcano, as Dipper did the same trying to merge his face into the wall his hat falling off in the process
"Bathroom"
"Door"
"Clothes"
"Later"
Scraping his forehead along the wall, Dipper entered the bathroom closing it behind him, The bathroom held it's usually amenities, except for the mirror taking up half the wall over the sink covered in makeup, and different coloured earrings, a shower without any doors or curtains, and silver shining toilet, each of them with golden writing saying Northwest; stepping to the mirror, Dipper turned on the faucet to let cold water run through his hands, slapping himself with a shudder he turned it off to face the shower, Taking off his now-damp clothing he heard a knock
"Throw out your clothes"
"Why?"
"Vincent's gonna clean them with the other guys" Grabbing the bundle, he stuck as close to the door as he could throwing it outside, slamming it shut
"You didn't have to throw it at me!"
"Sorry!" He called back walking to the shower, instead of two knobs it held six with words from Antarctic to Sahara, turning both extremes at the same time led to the scream that echoed throughout the halls, Pacifica knew what it meant, she didn't know how it works either
Finding a red hoodie and black sweatpants at the door, Dipper pulled them on than walked out the door releasing steam into the room, the other door opening at the same time
"Feel better?" She asked, having changed into a bright yellow nightdress, her hair falling in random directions around her face
"You know, I don't think I've ever seen you so, normal before" He said causing her to straighten her hair quickly
"Sorry, I didn't have a lot of time"
"No No, it's okay, I like it" Standing as perfectly as still as he could the second it left his mouth, Pacifica turned around to enter the hallway
"Let's go, dinners ready" She said rushing through hallway, ignoring the sound of a head slap
Sitting in the massive velvet chair at the middle of the long table, he stabbed the longest fork from the set into a sliced carrot, bringing it to his mouth instead of a crunch, it melted on his tongue like butter
"Huh, must be a rich thing" He said to himself, his eyes drawn to the empty seat across from him, than the other two at either ends of the table, hearing a creak he saw Pacifica walk through the door with something under her arm
"So guess what Vincent found" She said placing Journal Two on the table, letting him grasp it like a lifeline
"Oh crap, I forgot I had this" He said opening the book to ensure none of the pages were ruined, stopped by a hand at the top
"I checked, it's fine, also never introduce me to whatever an Oni is" She said sitting down, as Dipper placed the book next to him
"It's just a type of demon from Japanese folklore, Great-Uncle Ford probably just made an entry about it instead of finding one" Reaching for his fork again, he's hand got slapped by the rich girl
"You can't just use any fork, we have manners here!" She said as he rubbed his hand, his lips slowly turning into a smirk
"Really you're gonna keep doing that?"
"Doing what?"
"Come on Paz you don't-"
"What did you just call me!" She said kicking his shin, hurting slightly but brought his laugh with it, eventually the curves of her mouth began rising as well, turning into her own laughter lightening the air around them, slowly quieting with small tears at their eyes
"Hehe, you know if you get to call me Paz, I get to call you Dip" She said making him lean his head on his shoulder
"What?" She said again when he didn't answer
"You know my real names not Dipper, right?" He said causing her mouth to open slightly, grabbing a piece of carrot she threw it at his face
"You're horrible, why didn't you tell me!" She said laughing when he threw one back at her, narrowly missing
"I thought you knew, You actually thought my name was Dipper?"
"Doesn't everybody?" She asked making him chuckle
"I mean, yeah, guess I didn't think it'd matter here" He said scratching the back of his neck, stopping when his eyes met Pacifica's
"Why not?" She asked again, the timing of his arrival to the town suddenly hitting her
"Oh, you didn't actually move here did you?" She said forgetting everything about manners, instead grabbing a fork to pick at the now bland looking meat, not going unnoticed by her dinner guest
"No, we're just here for the summer, Sorry" He said grabbing his own fork to poke his food, both unable to take a bite
"Well I mean this is just a holiday home…" She began drawing his eyes
"...I live in Malibu, I just thought I'd see you when I come back next year" Feeling a lump in his throat, Dipper tried swallowing it, unsure if that's how it works
"Well I mean if my parents let us, we could probably come back next year" Seeing her brush a strand of hair behind her ear with downcast yet hopeful ehes, he looked as hard he could into her face, every centremeter of her small smile at the thought seemed worth it to come back, anomalous creatures or not
"And if you think about it we'd be teens next year, we could probably do some teen stuff" If Pacifica heard the last part she didn't show it, only his face turning red with a fake cough as her smile came with a fork directing at his face
"Well you know I'm already technically a teen"
"What, how old are you?"
"Thirteen last January" she said with a huff her pearly whites revealing themselves to his dropped jaw
"You're so old!" He said getting another kick to the shin
"No I'm not!" She couldn't help laughing, until he kicked back, whistling a tune to the ceiling, until a shadow leapt over the table tackling him to the floor
"Stop, Stop, I'm sorry!" He laughed trying to cover his ribs from her onslaught, digging manicured nails into his flesh like a wolf taking its kill
"Say you're sorry!" She demanded laughing at the squirming boy in her grasp
"I said I was sorry!"
"Say it again!"
"I'm sorry, I'm Sorry!" He yelled making the girl get off him to fix her hair once again
"There, have you learned your lesson?"
"Yes, yes, I swear!" He said curling into a ball afraid of another attack, feeling a foot tap into his side he saw Pacifica kneeling down in the corner of his eye
"Now, what's your name?" She almost whispered into his ear, her voice so devoid of emotion it made his skin crawl
"What?" Hovering both hands over his side, he curled even tighter
"Mason, my names Mason" He said closing his eyes, until a finger flicked his ear
"Awww, Mason and Mabel it makes so much sense" She said placing a finger next to his neck, making him crawl backwards into a shaky stand
"Wow you're really ticklish" She said laughing
"Yeah, yeah, get it out of your system, but what if I thought a little revenge might be in order?" He asked stepping forwards with hands raised making her hold her own sides taking a step back
"Don't you dare!" She said watching him step closer with a grin matching her own, Suddenly the sound of an explosion rattled the walls followed by a high-pitched screaming threatening to burst their eardrums if they didn't cover them
"What was that?!" Pacifica said running to the door as Dipper grabbed the journal following close behind; Sprinting through the hallways, Dipper followed her through the maze of mansion, taking enough turns to activate a cheat code on an arcade machine; they found Vincent the butler in the last room spraying the fire extinguisher everywhere around him
"Vincent What happened?!" Pacifica asked almost running into the scorched room until a hand pointed her way
"Stay back Young miss, it's almost been solved, I just can't put out this machine" Vincent said proceeding to spray the insides of a washing machine until the canister couldn't spray anymore
"There we are, Disaster averted" He said, Dipper tucked the book into his waistband tying it fully before risking walking into the blackened room with Pacifica close behind
"What happened?" Dipper asked scrapping a handful of soot off the wall until the man grabbed his hand pulling out a handkerchief
"It seems the washing machine exploded, I'd also suggest not touching anything that could dirty yourself Young sir" He said wiping away the soot blackening the delicate fabric
"Oh sorry" Dipper said getting his hand back, he watched the man look into the machine with a hand on his chin
"Are you okay?" Pacifica asked Vincent drawing his eyes with a smile and pat on her head in response
"I'm okay Young miss thank you for asking, but these clothes might not be so lucky" Reaching inside the top loading washer, the well-dressed gentleman pulled out a pile of ashes; the only remains of Dippers clothes
"Now that's strange"
"What?" Dipper asked looking inside, finding Six's jacket completely unscathed shining as if it came off the shelf, The boy pulled it out not a speck of ash touching the fabric
"How did it survive?" Pacifica said voicing everyone's thoughts, grabbing a sleeve to rub it between her fingers
"I think it's magic" Dipper replied
"What do you mean it's magic?" She said narrowing her eyes at the boy, making his skin begin to crawl
"Oh you know, it's just, uh yeah"
"Mason Pines, I swear to-"
"Okay, I get it, Six is like a fire wizard or something" Ironically it felt like time froze the second it left his mouth, Vincent pretended to cough into his fist making his way for the door
"I'll go see if dessert is ready" He said disappearing into the hallway, leaving the boy to her burning eyes
"You brought a wizard to my home?!"
"Well he's not really a wizard I think, but yeah" He tried smiling making her pause her glare then pinched the bridge of her nose
"How am I going to explain this to my parents" she groaned not noticing his visible wince
"Sorry I can go if you wan-"
"No, No it's fine, this is only the guest laundry room, it'll be fine" Sucking in air through his teeth, he clung the jacket close to his chest instinctively scratching the leather to fill the silence; looking up to meet his eyes, she sighed forcing a smile to form
"Can you figure out how it happened, I can't just say a wizard caused it" Nodding he inspected the jacket, the symbols dull, fabric free of any tears, he turned it inside out finding a hidden pocket, reaching in he pulled out the small pocket watch
"This has to be the cause" he said placing it in her outstretched hand she opened it, her brows furrowing
"You're joking right?" She said nothing but herself in the little mirrors
"I'm not, Six said it's some sort of weapon, you just point it at something and…it does something"
"You don't know?"
"Well I'm guessing it explodes" She sighed in response, her slight frown not going unnoticed, handing the watch back to him, he closed it before putting it back into the jacket
"Sorry again Paz" He said making her raise a hand to her mouth to stop the giggle from escaping fully
"Well I guess you can make it up to me" She said slyly causing another lump to from in his throat
"How?"
"You'll see" She said flicking his nose, turning around to the hallway causing the boys brain to explode inside his head like a grenade from a forbidden thought, Shaking his head he went after her knowing he'd get lost in this maze without her
"What's this?" Dipper asked pointing at one of the plates on Pacifica's bed with crossed legs the Journal at the edge barely titering off, the girl herself lying face down next to him towards the door, biting into a strawberry that had more chocolate than fruit
"It's creme brulee, it's basically just custard" She said grabbing the white bowl to dip another strawberry inside,
"Do you always have French sounding foods for dessert?"
"Yes and.." She began pulling out her phone from a side pocket, opening an app she pointed it at the TV turning it on
"..I usually watch whatever's on TV" she finished browsing through the catalogue as Dipper took a strawberry dipping it into the custard
"This is pretty good" He said taking another from the pile of strawberries as she pressed the touch screen picking a movie
"Have you ever watched Grown Ups?" She asked turning her head to Dipper's puffer up cheeks, his lips barely concealing the sweet fruits
"Mhmm" he nodded chewing, also receiving two fingers pinching one of his cheeks making one of the treats explode in his mouth
"Don't eat all of them, I don't want to wake Vincent to make more" Raising an eyebrow, Dipper swore he felt his pupils dilate, directing themselves to the balcony outside filled with pitch black, the faint outline of an owl hooting in the trees
"Aw man, what time is it?" He asked flopping backwards into the soft velvet, as Pacifica swiped at the top of her phone
"Ten-thirty" She said making him groan even more smashing his fists into his eyes
"Ahhhh, Grunkle Stan is gonna kill me"
"Well you should've called earlier" She said with an eye roll, transforming into worry, when he turned to his side holding his knees close to his chest
"Dipper?"
"Yeah?" He said watching her flip around so they were now head to head
"Why didn't you call?" She asked trying to look into his downcast eyes
"I don't know, I was gonna, but"
"But what?" She said watching him release the hold to turn onto his back, he lay still staring at the ceiling, his lips tightening as if he didn't find what he was looking for in the white coat of paint
"I was afraid of seeing them" Propping herself up on her elbow, she tried looking into his eyes from her slight height advantage but found nothing she didn't already know; Something was wrong
"Did it have to do with what happened today?" He raised a hand to an eye, wiping at the edge smearing it across his skin with a shine, he tried ignoring the hand grasp his arm instead imagining the many strokes of paint it would of took to fill the room
"Dipper, what happened?" She asked squeezing his arm as gently as she could, receiving no response she was about to ask again until a stray shining tear fell from one eye, then the next, his stone expression trying to keep itself intact
"I have a rash on my arm…" He began his voice almost broke from those simple alone
"..I asked Six to help me find some magic medicine in the mountains created by Cyclops'..." She felt her hand squeeze tighter by itself, going unnoticed by the boy
"..We found them, they were guards I think, they put us to sleep to protect whatever they were guarding by putting us to sleep, Once they did…" He shuddered slightly making the girl inch a little closer
"...It was as if life reset, I started back over with no memory of the real world, birthdays, school, everything but it was a little different"
"Different how?" She asked another shudder, another tear, and another inch
"Mabel hated me, I don't know why, she bullied me, hurt me, in some way I knew she wasn't my Mabel but I couldn't hate her back, I tried everything to make her happy, tried to be the best brother I could be..Better than I am now" He said wiping a sleeve over his eyes, cutting her off from any words of comfort
"We came to Gravity Falls like we had before, she turned the whole town against me even Grunkle Stan hated me for just existing, saying he didn't want me to come but my parents didn't want me at home either"
"Dipper" She said softly, rubbing a finger between the crevice of his elbow
"Everyone hated me, I never knew why, then I found the journal but the only entry was of Him, saying how he vowed to help the weak and lonely, an angel from the stars..I should've remembered, I shouldn't of done it, but I summoned him, he said he had been watching my life, how he wished he could take away all the pain they had done to me but he couldn't change the past, but he could change the future" Pacifica watched the boy turn away from her, trying to escape to the end of the bed with his knees back to his chest, the thought of the facade that he kept up since he arrived finally breaking apart inside her mind
"I shook his hand" He said a visible wave shaking through his spine
"I blacked out in the dream, I woke up inside the shack with a bat in my hands, Soos, Wendy, and Grunkle Stan dead at my feet…Mabel jumped out from behind the armchair with a pair of scissors, I managed to wrestle her to the floor and all the pain, hurt, and rage from those twelve years in there came out and I kept, punching, smacking and hitting her, she begged me to stop, telling me that it's all a dream but I couldn't..I wouldn't…" Feeling a pair of hands reach around his ribs, he felt the girl drag him back from the edge of the bed breaking apart his ball of protection into her chest, resting her chin atop his head
"What happened next?" She asked, Squeezing him for all he was worth, knowing that while visiting the fresh set of memories would hurt, letting it haunt him in his most private moments would hurt him more
"..He asked me if this was what I wanted as I kept hurting her, He asked me if this is what I really wanted all along, to get rid of her, if the dream was my darkest desires come to light…I woke up to flashing, Mabel turning into the Cyclops and back, I wanted to stop but every instinct told me I was in danger, so I kept going until she couldn't move and kept going soon after" He felt her hand reach up from under his elbow to his shoulder, somehow pulling him closer
"Mhmm" she hummed planting her face into his dishevelled chocolate hair
"I fully woke up to Six dragging me away from it, I couldn't control the real twelve years of my life flooding my brain next to the fake ones…Even now I have two sets of everything, I can't tell who I am-" He felt a hand press to his lips silencing him, then the hand went up wiping as much of the salty liquid as it could away from his hazel eyes, carefully rubbing against the red rimmed skin circling them
"You are Mason Pines, Twin brother to Mabel Pines who loves you very much, Nephew to Stan Pines who while being a bit of a crook would risk anything to save him, Kind-hearted, Adventurer, Brave, Smart but sometimes Foolish.." She began, reaching with her other hand to clasp his with a gentle squeeze
"...And my personal ghost hunting hero" She finished causing a chain reaction, the feeling of cinder blocks fell off his shoulders, his lungs reaching for air from deep below the ocean, and finally his heart that questioned itself whether or not it should continue after all that he has done broke free from its stone prison allowing blood to warm his veins
"Does that answer your question?" She asked, bringing their hands to his chest, closing her eyes
"Yeah, it does" He said with a sigh of content, a part of him afraid of another dream, overshadowed by her warmth and soft breathes in his ear, reminding him that he won't be alone in this slumber
The singing of the birds woke him before the sunlight did, with opened eyes his vision was covered by a wall of yellow slightly tickling his nose, raising a hand to remove the obstruction, he found two arms loosely wrapped around his stomach, and uneven breathes blowing against the nape of his neck, carefully taking the top arm off himself, he pushed himself off the bed to meet the floor with his feet causing a slight bang, turning around his eyes met hers, still frozen on the bed
"Hey" She said suddenly, refusing to move her limbs by an inch
"Hey" he said back, the both of them maintaining eye contact for a few moments
"So, yeah" She said breaking the thin wall of silence between them
"I-I uh, I'm gonna go, Uh"
"Breakfast!" She said snapping upright, making him click his fingers as if that's what he was going to say
"Yes, Yes, Breakfast!" Jumping off the bed, she made her way to the door while smoothing down her nightdress, as Dipper grabbed the Journal to its new hiding place, to continue literally walk like a robot behind her, each joint locked straight, neither of them noticing the TV above them playing a very mature movie not meant for kids their age.
A couple minutes of silence later, the kids sat at the table trying to inhale the food to excuse any conversation, the silence broken by a knock at the door
"Come in!" Pacifica had to mumble out, draining the glass of orange juice to speak when her top butler entered the room
"Young Miss, I'm sorry for intruding" Vincent said with a small bow, getting a wave in response
"It's okay, what do you need?"
"I called the young Sir's house last night, and the gentleman who answered said he'd come pick him up this morning" Pausing mid-bite, he looked at the man a singular thought running through his mind
"What happened to Six?"
"He's still in one of the guest room sleeping, I didn't wish to wake him so I called last night incase your sleepover was against their wishes" Dipper groaned into his hands dropping the utensils onto the plate
"I apologise if that's not to your liking young Sir"
"No, No it's okay sorry, just did my Grunkle sound mad?"
"Actually it was your babysitter" Vincent said making Pacifica snort in amusement
"You have a babysitter?"
"So do you!" He said back, pointing a finger at the man, immediately coughing into his fist, he sat back down with a red tinge spreading across his face, furthering when the man also forced a cough into his fist
"Well he'll be here any moment, so I'd suggest taking a shower if you wish, young sir" Vincent said, bowing then made his way to the door
"Thanks Vincent" Pacifica called, a smile forming on the man's face as he closed the door behind him
"So you guys look pretty close" Dipper said drawing Pacifica back to them being alone, again, which they have been for since she got home
"Well yeah, I've known him since I was born" She said stabbing a piece of bacon
"I thought your parents would say something like, don't talk to the butler so casually Pacifica, it's not proper for a Northwest" He said deepening his voice with a huff of superiority
"Yeah well, they're not around anymore" She said stabbing another piece of bacon, her eyes trailing up to his wide eyes
"No No No, they're back home in Malibu!" He released a breath at her shaking her hands towards his face
"Its how we found you actually, I was coming back from another of our houses outside of town to say goodbye, the ghost freaking them out so much they couldn't sleep here another night" She finished, helping him release a sigh of relief
"Oh man, I thought, nevermind what I thought, why are you still here if they left?" He asked watching her stab a sausage, unconsciously making him gulp
"After the whole ghost thing they were too freaked out to stay, they let me since Vincent was supposed to leave after the summer anyway" She said biting into the sausage as if it were a jawbreaker
"So this is your last summer with him?" He asked, his mind taken away from the aroma of breakfast to her clenched hand
"Yeah, but without my parents around we can have fun, they didn't take away my credit card so I plan on spending every last cent" Seeing her smile he felt a laugh coming on until another knock from the door revealed Vincent leaning in from around the door
"I'm sorry young sir, but it appears he's arrived" He said followed by the sound of a car horn echoing through the hallway
"And his very impatient" Vincent finished closing the door again, looking to each other both kids stood to leave, until Pacifica held an arm in front of him
"Hey Dipper about last night" She said making his heart skip a beat
"Jeez, I'm sor-" "No No"
"It's just, if you need someone to talk to, you know where to find me" She said smiling to the boy, one he tried returning
"Thanks Paz" Nodding she opened the door leading him through the once again matching hallways, each time he steps through feeling like another dimension or a winding labyrinth, Opening another door they found Six laying halfway off the bed with his head hitting the floor
"Six?" Dipper said walking up to the man as Pacifica stayed next to the door
"Six" He said louder not disturbing the man in the slightest, leaning down he held the man's nose between two fingers making the man breathe through his mouth by instinct, sighing Dipper looked to the smirking blonde
"Yeah he's not waking up"
"Just tap him or something"
"Yeah No, I'm scared he might cause a explosion if we scare him" He said, jumping back the second Six sneezed in his sleep
"While I would laugh at you, I'm also getting nervous, I'll get Vincent to grab him" Failing at looking casual, he quickly exited the room with Pacifica slamming the door shut behind them, not a sound coming from the room afterwards, Making their way through, it took Dipper a second to realise that he's only been on the top floor this entire time, walking down the steps another honk from behind the oak door made him cringe in embarrassment
"Your babysitter sounds pretty mad"
"Yeah, wait Ruby wouldn't be driving a car, it's probably Grunkle Stan" He groaned reaching the final step
"Ruby, didn't Vincent say your babysitter was a he?" She asked making him open his eyes with a creased brow
"Actually yeah he did, wait" Opening the door, they found Flores sitting in the driver's side of the Stanley Mobile wearing a black dress shirt and black trousers, he sat in the chair pushed all the way back with a foot on the steering wheel, honking it three times with mighty kicks
"Flet-Flores!?" Dipper corrected himself not seeing a white cloak, the man in question sat up with narrowed eyes to the boy coming down the stairs
"Where the fuck have you been!?" He said making both kids wince, groaning he wiped his face
"Sorry, don't tell Summer she's making me do a chore for every curse I say" He continued standing up to meet them
"It's fine, just what are you doing here?" Dipper asked feeling the man's eyes burn into his skull
"I wake up to that damn phone ringing on the table, and when I answer some posh guy said you and Six we're here" He explained leaning against the car changing his sights to the blonde
"Who's your girlfriend?" He asked inwardly smirking from his desired result
"She's not-"
"I'm not-"
"I don't actually care, but Gods forbid someone who does ask you that" He said watching the blonde clasp her hands tightly and the Brunette furiously scratch his neck, both of their eyes refusing to meet
"Just can we go?" Dipper asked, trying to rip the skin with his nails as fast as he could
"Sure, Where's Six?"
"He's asleep" Pacifica said pushing down the feeling of letting her old self come back to almost growl at the man, not exactly a good first impression
"Let me guess, he fell off the bed?"
"Almost" Sighing, Flores walked up the stairs right as Vincent appeared at the door
"Mr Deira was it, can you please take me to my brother?" Flores said with a small bow returned by the older man, as the kids jaws dropped at Flores' complete one-eighty mood change
"Of course Mr Fletcher, let's leave the children to their goodbyes"
"Lead the way Mr Deira" Flores began turning around, pointing at the still stumped boy
"Make it quick, I don't intend to wait for another half an hour" He finished disappearing inside the mansion behind the Butler
"I thought you said his name was Flores?" Pacifica asked with a raised making her friend sigh
"It's a long story" He said looking at the car, a strange pit forming in his stomach, from a thought he knew had to be true
"Well maybe we could talk about it over dinner one day" Popping his neck from the speed of his head turning, his eyes scanned hers for anything that hinted at his ears failing him, only deepening her rosy red cheeks
"Well you know, like last night-"
"You wanna go on a date?" Dipper said, a sudden surge of adrenaline pumping through his veins
"Well I mean, that's what I said" Neither of them moved for a solid few moments, hopelessly entranced in they're staring contest, Dipper felt himself take a step forwards, then jumped back from the Oak doors slamming open bringing forth a heavy footed Flores wearing Six's jacket around his waist, holding the swordsman himself over one shoulder and the sword itself in his hand
"Go Go Go!" He yelled opening the backseat door to throw Six inside, barely getting a groan in response when Flores threw the sword at his face and slammed the door against his feet
"What's going on!" Dipper yelled back, suddenly grabbed by both arms and thrown over the driver side into the passenger's seat
"You little pyromaniac, you know what you did!" Flores immediately jumped into the driver's seat igniting the engine
"Seatbelt" He said looking ahead with both hands on the wheel
"What?"
"Seatbelt!" Hastily clipping his into place, Flores didn't bother trying to, instead slamming his foot on the pedal to spin around the water fountain, Dipper extended the belt to lean out the window
"Call me!" He yelled getting a laugh and wave from the girl, right as Vincent stepped out the door clearly confused from the other man's antics, quickly turning into one of horror, feeling a hand grab his hoodie from behind, Flores yanked the boy back into the car before they slammed through one of the gates smacking it off its hinges
"Damn that was close!" Flores said keeping the pedal against the floor as Dipper turned to him
"Are you crazy!"
"I'll say, imagine paying for all that crap"
"Not that, you broke through they're gate!" The boy said getting a flick to the forehead
"Listen up kid, I'm gonna tell a very important piece of advice, If you keep trying hard, and you never give up, and you never stop running, they'll never catch you, I saw that on YouTube once, never looked back" Flores said waving both hands like a politician almost steering them off course into the trees, if Dipper didn't grab the wheel
"Hands on the wheel, Hands on the wheel!"
"Oh sorry" He replied taking control of the vehicle, not even a second later his attention turned to the out-of-place rear view mirror, reaching a hand he began adjusting it to his eyes sending them a little to the left
"Can you even drive!" Dipper asked jumping up from the car hitting a small pothole
"Psssh, probably, kidding, well sorta" the man said still turning the mirror around
"Stop the car!"
"Why?"
"Stop the car!" Turning his eyes back to the road, he hit the brakes a dust storm blowing up from underneath them stopping an inch from a parked police vehicle in front of them, the occupants covered in paper swans staring at them, nothing happened at first both cars just pointing at the other
"Stay down" Flores ordered putting a hand on top of Dippers head
"Why?"
"They'll think the car is stolen if it's just me, just wait here and don't make a sound" Of all things Flores could've done, getting out of the car before Sheriff Blubs or Deputy Durland could, especially since their the only two cops in town, Flores strolled up to the driver's side before leaning down into the window
"Good evening gentleman" He said making the cops look at one another then back to him their eyes filled with rage
"Who do you think you-" Blubs began opening the door, which Flores slammed shut with a knee
"You wanna explain what that was?" Flores said holding his best poker face, ironically never winning
"What do you mean, you almost-!?" Durland began getting cut off
"What I think that was gentleman, is you two trying to kill me by driving forty-kilometres over the speed limit"
"Kilometres?" Blubs said getting a finger to his face, allowing the other man's hand inside the car as planned
"Don't you interrupt me boy!"
"Boy?, now that's it, step back-!!" Flores suddenly reached underneath the steering wheel to rip out the keys and bolt to the car
"What happened?!" Dipper harshly whispered to the man, who put the car in reverse, then speeding back up around the car and both cops just getting out, the shock still etched into their faces
"Nothing, we just had a conversation"
"I heard you yelling"
"It was a heated conversation" Flores said throwing the keys out the window knowing they'll find it on the walk back to town, maybe
"Flores, you're a criminal now!!"
"Psssh, nuh uh" feeling his face fail to properly express the amount of disbelief he felt at the man, Dipper groaned while reclining the seat, to hide his face in his hands
"This cannot be happening" He had done it, he found someone even more childish than Mabel, even if was an act, the costs of said act heavily outweighed its purpose
"It'll be fine, I'll ditch the car somewhere-"
"How did you even get Grunkle Stan to give you the car?!" Dipper asked hoping to the ends of the earth, his first thought seeing the vehicle wasn't true
"Come on, you know the answer" Flores said with a smile, making Dipper almost scream into his hands
"Special delivery" Flores said throwing Six onto the couch outside the front door, another knock to the groaning man's head with his own sword, Dipper followed the man inside, his stomach still trying to expel itself from the man's intense 'driving' as he called it
"Hey guys" Ruby said sitting on the armchair eating out of a bag of cookies between her legs, dressed in pink pyjama pants and black singlet, the faintest of black under one of her eyes still somewhat standing out against her pale skin
"Hey Rubes, oooh can I have one?" Flores asked getting a nod, as Dipper dropped down to sit against the dinosaur skull
"You okay Dip?" Ruby asked handing Flores a couple treats which he stepped back to lean against the wall
"The wimp couldn't handle my awesomeness" He said, getting a glare from the boy in response
"He almost killed us more than once, and nearly crashed into a police car" Hearing the boys words, Ruby turned her squinted eyes to the man's who turned away in response
"Mom's not gonna like that" She said taking a small bite
"Yeah well, neithers the old man, ehhh potato, potato"
"You're supposed to say potato, potato, not potato, potato"
"Tomato, tomato" He said getting it wrong again with another bite
"Did you get hurt, Dip?" Ruby asked leaning down to inspect the boy who shook his head
"I'm fine, no thanks to speed demon over there" Dipper replied pointing a thumb at Flores, who rolled his eyes, stopping when Ruby's met his
"We're supposed to look after them, not put them in danger" She said with narrowed eyes, drawing Dippers attention
"Wait, you're both my babysitters?" He asked getting two nods in reply, making him slide to the floor with a groan
"Hey don't get twisted, I'm stuck with you, you're not stuck with me, wait actually you are, damn"
"Ruby I don't want to sound mean but, why is he also my babysitter, I don't even need one!" Dipper asked staring at the ceiling, which Ruby leant down to ruffle his hair
"I know he's strange, but my Mom said he's actually really sweet, so maybe just give him a chance" She whispered with a smile which he had to force in response, turning into a frown when she leant back
"Well since your home, I earned a bag of cookies from Summer, so if you don't-" Suddenly a shriek caught him off guard from a enthusiastic tween running down the stairs wearing a pig on her back in a blue safety harness
"Dip, Dip, Dipper you sly dog!" Mabel said jumping headfirst into the boys stomach making him pull her into a reverse headlock, the girl still laughing
"What did you hear!?" He shouted hoping she didn't see his cheeks mimic Ruby's hood
"Oh you know, just a little something about you staying at Pacifica Northwest's house!!" She ended with a scream into his chest, the pig resting the back of his head on he's owners, Dipper could've sworn those black beady eyes were taunting him with a snork
"Mabel, please don't make this weird" Dipper sighed closing his eyes
"My Bro's gonna get his first girlfriend, and she's cute, and she's rich, and she's-Waddles!" Opening his eyes the pink house pet disappeared from the baby harness like magic
"What're you doing Flores?" Ruby asked drawing the boys eyes to the man who held the pig in front of him engaged in what he thought was a fierce staring contest, changing when the man smiled with stars shining in his eyes
"What's your name, little one?" He said tucking the pig in the crook of his arm to tickle the pigs belly, getting an immediate reaction from the Squealing animal
"His name's Waddles!" Mabel said standing up with a shining smile and hands clasped behind her back, taking great pride in her pet
"Waddles hehe Waddles, that's a funny name" He said rubbing his face against the pigs, getting a lick to his cheek the man's smile grew wider matching Mabel's, suddenly his neck creaked looking to the girl
"I'll cut you a deal"
"What kind?"
"I get to hangout with Waddles, and I'll tell you some gossip about him and blondie"
"Deal!" She said shooting her hand straight up, meeting his before Dipper could react to the ammunitions deal taken in front of him
"Wait!"
"He told the blonde girl to call him from halfway outside the car window" Ruby took another bite of her cookie, watching with rapt attention to the movie playing out in front of her, much better then rewatching the Duchess approves she had to admit; it all played out in slow motion at first, each second filling with tension between the three of them, then Flores raised the pig higher placing him on his head like a hat, then Mabel gained a surge of energy her eyes glowing with lightning, as she picked up Dipper effortlessly over her head like a pro-wrestler, making the boy yelp in fear
"My Brother's Got A Girlfriend!!" She screamed to the heavens, carrying him to the kitchen with superhuman strength she screamed it again to Summer who also screamed equally as enthusiastic
"I've got a new hat" Flores said balancing the unbothered animal on his head with a smile, then Fletcher walked through the front door locking eyes with his younger self
"Mine"
"No"
"Mine!"
"No!" Fletcher tackled his younger self to the floor trying to pry the pig from his chest with minor success
"Hehehe" Ruby giggled covering her mouth to stop the crumbs from falling out, while she had to admit her heart still yearns to return home, this place wasn't so far off.
