Chapter 23:

TRIS POV:

The party started approximately an hour ago, people flooding the living room as well as the basement. I try to socialize as much as possible, but the people around me are not some I would like to make acquaintance with. Most of them are horny guys and sluty girls wearing tight dresses of shorts that show half of their butts. I try to ignore it but currently as I stand next to where the dance floor is, this random blonde guy walks up to me.

"Hey sexy lady." He mumbles, obviously drunk off his ass.

"Please just get away from me." I mutter, shoving him as he leans closer to me. He tries to thrust his body against mine, but I shove him hard, suddenly wishing I could get some fresh air. "Leave me alone."

He gives me a look, then begins to back off, quickly finding a blonde bimbo, who happily obliges to "dance" with him. I squeeze my way through the crowd, opening the sliding door before making my way to the lounge chairs, the furthest away from the idiots smoking out here.

I lean back and close my eyes, much wishing this day could be done and over with, between the Christina thing and the blonde man whore, I want to go home. It doesn't help that I haven't seen Tobias for about twenty minutes, after he told me he was going to the bathroom, I saw him talking to Zeke and I decided that maybe they wanted to have some friend time so I left them alone.

He was my ride here so I would have to walk which this house is a good few miles from mine, not that I couldn't make it to my house, it's just I don't want to walk out in the freezing weather as well as in these clothes Christina got me.

I don't know how long I've been lying here but eventually I feel someone poke my shoulder, repeatedly until I finally open my eyes from my resting position. Though I thought it would be Tobias, it isn't, instead it's a very drunk Zeke in front of me.

"Hey Trissy." He laughs as he sees me begin to sit up, and I roll my eyes at his stupid nickname.

"What do you want Zeke?" I ask, a little harsher than intended, though my point does get across.

He sighs shoving my shoulder slightly while chuckling, "Loosen up. I just wanted to ask you if you had seen Four anywhere. I can't find him."

"You were supposed to be with him. I would have been with him long ago if I had known you guys stopped talking." I say more to myself than Zeke who currently is beginning to stumble backwards. "Come on, lets go find him."

I grab his arm, pulling him with me as I begin to walk around the house, first searching in the kitchen where I last saw him talking to Zeke. Not too surprisingly, he's not there, so I quickly move around the dance floor, sweeping over everyone's glazed over, drunk faces, none of which are him.

Not to long after, I've checked the living room, backyard though I was just out there, bathrooms, downstairs, and all of the front yard. I easily find his car parked, showing me he is still here, thank god. I shove Zeke back into the house as we walk around trying to find him, Zeke grabbing another bottle of beer while successfully chugging half of it by the time we get to the stairs leading up.

"Zeke, we need to check upstairs, try to climb the stairs without falling." I tell him, slowly speaking as if I was talking to a four year old with a sarcastic hint to it.

He roughly holds onto my arm while I climb the stairs staying with him at his slow pace. Eventually we arrive to the top, one of the only restricted areas of his house for party guests, as the Penrad brothers have no clue what people would try to do in their bedrooms, or with their personal belongings.

I drag Zeke along as we open Uriah's bedroom door, checking inside for Tobias, but coming out unsuccessful. Then we check the next room, Zeke and Uriah's parent's room, quickly peaking in and again resulting in nothing. Finally we make our way down the hall to the second to last room, Zeke's bedroom. It's only a few seconds before I hear Tobias voice in a grunt saying, "Tris…"

I scrunch up my eyebrows, confused by him calling my name, but as I begin to turn the knob, I hear another voice, a girls to be exact, "I'm not Tris, but I'll be whoever you want me to be."

After my brain processes the words, I can feel the anger and betrayal bubbling up inside my stomach, and I can't help but slam the door open. My eyes burn at the sight of Tobias lying in bed with another blonde, who happens to look pretty close to me, in a serious make out session. I try to see through my already tear stricken eyes at the sight in front of me, the blonde girl straddling his waist with her jacket already off her body, sitting on the floor next to them.

Thankfully no other clothes had been shed, but by the way her hands are close to the hem of his t-shirt makes me understand what was about to happen. Both Tobias and the blonde chick look at me, eyes wide with surprise, though Tobias's seem to be filled with confusion. Zeke stumbles in from behind me, spilling a good amount of his beer as he almost falls, but then he stops abruptly staring at his best friend in his bed.

"Dude, I know I'm not as drunk as you but, even I know that's not Tris." He states shaking his head. Tobias continues to stare at me, his own eyebrows scrunched up in confusion, probably not understanding the situation fully.

I do though. The one and only person I trusted with all my secret, just cheated on me, with a blonde whore who looks almost identical to me. I can't breath. My lungs are gasping for air as I try to cover my sobs before they come so that I could get out of the room that they are in. I almost fall as I stumble out the door, tears taking over my entire vision, making it almost impossible to see as I get down the stairs.

I quickly run out the door, making my way towards the direction of my house, not even paying attention to my freezing body. Pushing my legs forward makes them burn, hurting after not even that long. I have probably just now hit a mile from Zeke and Uriah's house, jogging now just to get away. I need to get away.

The image of Tobias and that other girl kissing is ingrained into my memory, replaying itself. When I probably reach about three to four miles from Zeke and Uriah's house, the images are too much and my breathing is faltering. I collapse on the soft grass in the playground field behind me, my body curling into a tiny ball while I gasp for breath.

I don't know what's happening to me right now, my tears just won't stop and I can't breath, I feel like I'm hyperventilating. My chest stings with every breath taken in, and burns with every exhale out. I try to clutch it, pleading it to stop, because I feel like I may die out in this field. All I can think about is the one thing I've lost forever, Tobias.

The next morning...

TOBIAS POV:

My headache radges as I begin to open my eyes to the bright sun outside the window. I groan loudly when I sit up, realizing I'm currently lying on Zeke's couch, snuggled against the pillow. I just barely notice Zeke lying on the ground next to me right before I almost step on his face, though I lightly tap him with my foot anyway to wake him up. He jolts awake, looking around until he's facing me with squinted eyes.

"Why the hell is it so damn bright in here." Groans Zeke as he halfly pulls his body up so that he's on his hands and knees.

I do a quick scan, gazing over the dirty room, only to find no other sleeping figures, thank god. I pull my phone out of my pocket glancing at the screen, only to find that I have one missed call from Caleb...Caleb?

Wait...where's Tris? I was supposed to take her home last night! I was supposed to be with her this morning because of her problems with Christina. If I'm still here with Zeke and probably Uriah and Marlene in Uriah's room, then how did Tris get home? It's probably like a 15 mile walk from here to her house.

"Zeke, where's Tris?" I ask Zeke, but as soon as I say her name, his head snaps up from his hands. He looks nervous and scared when his eyes meet mine, making me go into panic mode. "Zeke, I swear to god, where is she? I was supposed to be with her right now!"

He stands up slowly coming to sit next to me on the couch, leaning his elbows on his knees then he folds his hands together, rubbing his fingers together, showing me that he knows something I don't.

"Zeke, tell me what happened." I beg, as he glances at me with a pitiful expression.

"She left after...after we found you in my room...making out with another blonde." He speaks slowly.

My body freezes, my hearing becoming muffled, though there is nothing really to hear. I can barely get the next question out without puking and punching myself in the face, "I-I cheated on Tris?"
