To say that his mother was furious would be the understatement of the century. She was ready to kill and he was incredibly relieved to be her son rather than some random expendable civilian otherwise he'd be very much dead. Or mind controlled to open the door and then dead. But he was safe. For now.
She still stood in her corner with her arms folded and the only movement he saw out of her were the shakes of her head when David called her name or tried to get her to speak. He had stopped trying about twenty minutes ago and simply resigned himself to sitting on the couch staring at pillows or his hands in his lap. They had all been in that room for nearly an hour.
"Guys you need to talk to one another. Sitting in silence isn't going to get us anywhere," Henry shook his head but his mother didn't so much as blink. At least David moved and looked over to her at his words. He gave them a few seconds to speak but no one said a word so he turned his attention to David, "do you want to kiss her?"
"She already knows the answer to that," he answered simply and finally got something out of her.
"I am sure he is just thrilled with this whole arrangement," Regina grumbled bitterly as she turned and scowled at the man in question.
"I am not at all actually," he replied sharply and she rolled her eyes as she straightened her neck and stared back at her books, "I don't want to be forced to kiss you, Regina. I want you to want me to kiss you."
"I don't."
"Clearly!" He scoffed irritably and threw a hand in her direction before he calmed himself back down under her stare. She didn't say a word. She merely stared at him through hard unreadable eyes and he sighed and rubbed his hands over his face and down his jaw. "Regina, what is going on with you? You have your moods and you have a tendency to be chilly when you're upset but you have been avoiding me since the town meeting and today you have been a god damn ice queen! What the hell is going on?!"
"I am tired of being manipulated, David!" She shouted but he didn't recoil. He sat steady and attentive and listened to every word which had her chest tightening because she knew he was different. She knew that he would never hurt her like that. But she yelled at him anyway, "I am sick of being pushed and pulled and tricked in to doing other people's bidding! In to filling other people's personal agendas! I am my own person and I want to live my own life! I don't want to be with someone that uses me the same way everyone else does!"
"Have I given you the impression that I ever would?!"
"No!"
"Then what is with the cold front?! I know how you have spent your life! I know that you have suffered! You have told me yourself! Why are you suddenly treating me as though I have treated you so unjustly?!"
"Because I want to be with you!" She cried out and felt her tears threatening to pool in her eyes and his shoulders slumped and an expression of both hope and pain washed over his face, "but I can't!" She cried out a little shakier and then rolled her lips in to her mouth as her hands flung up in to her hair and she looked away from him and tried not to burst in to tears.
"Regina," he cooed gently and she shook her head and the anger was back in her thick unsteady voice despite the smile that curved her lips as her hands let go of her hair.
"Don't. Don't you dare talk to me as though this is some easy fix!"
"Why do you believe it to be so difficult?!"
"You are married, David! You love Snow White! You have a daughter! You have a family! They take priority! I understand that! But it doesn't stop me from wanting something I cannot possibly have!"
"Who is saying you can't have me?! Who is saying I can't have you?!" He shouted as he stood up from the couch and she took half a step closer as she yelled at him and tears glossed her eyes.
"I do not believe to one second that you would ever choose me over Snow! It doesn't matter what I do, you will go back to her!"
"I go back to her because you give me no other choice, Regina!"
"Why would I let you in close when I know you would go back to her in the end?!"
"How do you know I would?! Who are you to say what I would do?!"
"Because you always do the right thing!"
"And you are the wrong thing?!"
"An affair is never the right thing!"
"Who said it has to be an affair?!" He yelled and swung his arms out and she laughed a low and furious laugh.
"The day you divorce Snow White will be the day hell freezes over."
"Give me a reason!"
"David don't be ridiculous!"
"I am serious, Regina!" He bellowed and the first of her tears fell as she looked at him in confusion and distress and exhaustion, "you give me a reason and I will leave my wife and life the rest of my days with you."
"I am not some car you can take out on a test drive, David!"
"I never said that, Regina!"
"These are just words, David! I will not give you the chance to break my heart! I will not lose another love in my life!" She screamed and had her breath knocked from her lungs when she realized what had just left her lips. The vulnerability and fear settled good and deep inside her and a couple more tears rolled down her cheeks but David's expression was unreadable. And then shock and panic had her eyes widening and her posture retreating as he sharply pulled off his wedding band and tossed it so it bounced against the hard floor with a few light clinks as he strode up to her and gripped her head in his hands, pulling her up so he could kiss her.
A sharp vocal caught between a whimper and a protest was muffled by his mouth and while she tried to feel nothing, while she tried to prove herself wrong, she very quickly failed and let herself succumb to him. His kiss was strong and desperate and her return was frantic and breathy as she pressed herself to him and wrapped her arms around his head and neck. Her soul was on fire and her heart was thrumming as she soaked in the life he offered.
She had been starved and the tears that rolled down her cheeks now as she cried softly between kisses were ones of utter relief. He shook her from head to toe and she would never be the same. Her heart was sore but she welcomed the pain with open arms. Every muscle in her body was weak and shaky and he kissed her with a passion she had never felt. He surrounded her, he enveloped her, his hands threaded through her hair, and his mouth did things to her insides she had never felt before.
He turned her and pushed her until her back collided with the wall of books she had so adamantly been staring at for the past hour and the sound that left her at the gesture had him lusting for more. It was an unintentionally rough collision but she didn't seem to mind and he loved it. It felt so good to finally kiss her. Like every burden had been lifted from his shoulders, like every chain holding him back had been broken and he was running with it all.
She was toxic, she was dangerous, she was addictive, she was exactly what he needed. She lit a fire inside him and he could have cried with her the moment she let him kiss her and she kissed him back. It was a relief, it was freedom, it was passion, and he wasn't going to let it slip away. He was going to take it and treasure it and never let it go. He was going to fight for it. So many close calls, so many 'almost's so many 'what if's and now finally, finally, he was kissing her.
Her lips were soft and sweet, her hair seemed silkier than it usually was, her subtle perfume surrounded him in a safety blanket, her body moved and quivered deliciously beneath his, her hands grabbing at him for more fed his burning passion for her, and the whimpers and moans and whines leaving her desperate mouth made his head spin. His hands moved heavily up her sides over her shirt but beneath her blazer and she pushed herself in to him even harder and as they moved back down she was panting against his open mouth for a moment. One of her arms slung around the back of his neck with her hand in his hair and the other arm down so her hand rested over his heart. Her balance swayed and her heavy breaths caught in her chest and he didn't know what had made her pause but it was hardly a couple seconds before she caught him in another kiss more heated than the first.
It was bolder and she was more sure and resolute in her decision to take him and his want for her was taken to a whole new level when she urged the kiss deeper. Snow was more reserved in her kissing and he had never been a fan of heavy tongue but Regina knew exactly what she was doing and she gave him a whole new appreciation for the technique and quickly and eagerly followed her lead. His head was spinning like a top and he took a good grip on the woman's thighs and hefted her up off the ground and without a hitch or a pause she wrapped her trouser clad legs around his hips and pulled his head to hers with both hands.
Henry had been holding his breath when David tossed his ring and stalked up to Regina and that breath was only released the moment she wrapped her arms around David's neck. Then he was grinning and covering his mouth with both hands so he wouldn't deter their focus with a shout of success. They were absolutely enthralled with one another and he did let out a giddy laugh under his breath as he watched them grow more and more absorbed in each other.
Finally.
That was all he could say. Just finally. There would be no turning back from this point. He was no expert on kisses but they certainly didn't tend to be this intense in movies or tv shows. Or any in real life for that matter that he had seen. He pulled his bottom lip between his teeth as his wide grin seemed to settle permanently on his face and he crouched down to reach for David's tossed ring and push it in to his pocket. As he stood up his mother was slammed against the wall and he silently started backing away toward the door. His presence was clearly completely forgotten and he didn't need to see much more. His decision to leave them was only enforced when he caught glimpse of his mother's tongue leaving her mouth before David's could seal around hers.
So with a grimace of eleven year old disgust and a light laugh to himself he left the room, opening the door and breaking the spell that kept them locked in there. And then he closed the plain door behind him and stood there for a moment so he could laugh in delight before he skipped upstairs. He had missed the queen's first kiss with David. He was quite thrilled to have been the cause of and play witness to his mother's. Finally she had a fair chance at happiness and companionship. Something he himself could not offer her in the way she needed it. It was a good day.
...
"What do you think she's doing right now?" The queen asked slowly as she studiously dragged her spoon over the top of her sundae to gather the perfect bite as she held the weight of her head in her hand with her elbow on the table. It wasn't proper but she didn't really care at the moment. She didn't know what had possessed her to feel such a need to smooth things over between the mayor and herself but...she did.
"Probably plotting up ways to make your life miserable for the next few days," the king answered with a shrug and spooned a bite for himself.
"I'm serious, David."
"And I'm not?" He smirked and she rolled her eyes and put the spoon in her mouth and slowly withdrew it. And then they were joined by Red when she slid in to the booth beside Regina with her own spoon and took a bite from Regina's ice cream without a thought. The action had Regina staring at her in disbelief but it only made him laugh as he took another spoonful of his own.
"What's up, your majesty," Red chirped with a smile as she let the ice cream melt in her mouth, "I've never seen either of you Reginas in such a mopey state," she chuckled and when she reached to go for another spoonful of the woman's ice cream, her spoon was stopped and blocked by the queen's. It only made Red laugh with David.
"I am not moping."
"Sure looks like it to me," Red shrugged and then evaded the queen's spoon and successfully earned herself another bite of ice cream which had the woman rolling her eyes and giving up on stopping her. Apparently it wasn't a big enough battle for her to bother with.
"How would you apologize to your mayor if you were to have pissed her off. In your world's terms of course."
"Of course," Red chuckled in amusement with a shake of her head, "you and Madame Mayor get in a fight?"
"I suppose you could say that."
"Yes. She did," David clarified and then shrugged his shoulders up a little and raised his eyebrows when Regina shot him a displeased glare.
"And you're still kickin' around? How'd you manage that?" Red chuckled and was answered by David.
"Oh she had a good few marks to show for it before she was finally able to heal herself," he smirked a little and Regina's glare grew a little more touchy.
"Nice," Red drew out with a nod and a laugh and took another spoonful of ice cream from the queen.
"Do you have an answer to my question or not?"
"Yeah I'm not exactly the expert on apologizing to evil queens. Sorry."
"Why do they even keep you around," Regina mumbled out with a single shake of her head.
"Because I'm hot and make a mean cappuccino," Red retorted easily with a smirk and then laughed when the queen pushed the sundae in front of her with a smirk, "but I don't know. Regina appreciates blunt honesty. You can try that first."
...
Their pace had slowed just a little. Their kisses were less frantic and more thorough and steady. The desperation though was not lost. Her fingers combed through his hair as she swivelled her head and continued to kiss him however she pleased. He had had her on her back on the couch but she had managed to get him off her before he got carried away and now he was sitting on the couch and she was straddling his lap with her knees on either side of his hips. His hands roamed over her back and her shoulders, revelling in the way her body moved for him instead of against him as she kissed him for all he was worth.
His hands moved down lower, heavy and spread across the small of her back and then over her perfect ass and to the backs of her thighs as she pressed herself tighter against him and tilted his head back a little further with a low moan. He panted against her open mouth just as she did his before she kissed him again, nipping at his jaw and chin before catching his bottom lip between her teeth and following through with a hard and deep kiss that had him groaning and grabbing at her sides as his hands made their way back up her figure.
In a quick movement his thumb popped open a button on her shirt. The button. The one right over her breasts that threatened to pop right off everyday but never did. She didn't seem to notice and only moaned against his mouth as one of his hands moved firmly up over her breast and hooked around her neck. He broke the kiss and she tried to get him back but stopped the moment his mouth latched on to her neck and instead he felt her voice vibrate against his lips with her throaty whimper.
His mouth was hot and wet and while the hand around the back of her neck helped support her, the other heavy hand over her breast threw her completely off kilter with arousal. His mouth moved lower and her thoughts grew hazier. He bit her in all the right places and kissed her everywhere else as his wandering hands continued. She moaned and hummed and whimpered and her head dropped alongside his so her mouth was over his ear and her fingers still grabbed at his hair and the back of his neck.
His breath made her dizzy and a very encouraging whimper and groan left her teeth when he delivered a sharp bite to the top of her breast and didn't let go right away. And then he soothed it with a wet kiss and moved his attention lower still, pulling her shirt to the side as much as he could. His next move was tentative but she was more than happy with it. The hand around the back of her neck left and resettled gently at her pelvis as his fingers slowly moved down and rubbed her between her legs and over her trousers. It was a gentle contact at first, unsure of how far she would allow him to push but then she moaned and hissed and her fingers clawed at his scalp as her hips rocked slowly and she dropped heavier on to his hand. That was all the permission he needed.
His hand grew heavier and stronger but no faster and she responded with a longer and louder moan with a slight whimper entangled in it. She was warm and he knew she was wet and he wanted nothing more than to put her back on her back and devour her until she was screaming. She seemed to notice the sudden overwhelming change in his desire for her for she laughed a low soft laugh between her heavy breaths against his ear and her fingernails began clawing down his back.
That laughter died the moment he stood from the couch and carried her and slammed her back against the wall hard enough for a couple books to tip over and a few decorative ornaments to fall to the floor with a few dull thuds. Just like that their frantic passion was relit and they kissed one another as best as they could between their heavy and sharp breaths. Her legs were hooked around his hips and her hands gripped the collar of his shirt while he made swift work of unclasping her trousers and untucking the white shirt from them so he could run his hands beneath it over her toned stomach and strong back. The contact had her muscles twitching and her hands ripping his shirt open and sending buttons flying in every direction. It only had him kissing her harder. But they stopped abruptly at the knock on the door beside them.
...
At the knock at the front door Henry did nothing and simply turned the page of his comic book while he laid on his stomach on his bed. At the second knock however he lifted his head and looked at the clock. Nearly thirty minutes had passed since he had left his mom and David in the room and he still hadn't heard from them. With a quiet laugh to himself he rolled off his bed and ran down the hall and down the stairs to the front door. Listening for but hearing nothing from the den.
Unlocking it first, he opened the door and found Snow to be standing on the other side. Crap, "hey."
"Hi Henry. Is David here?"
"I don't think so. Why?"
"What about Regina?"
"She fell asleep on the couch a little while ago. She's been super tired today," he nodded and shrugged his shoulders but Snow's attention was quickly caught by the loud thud from inside the house. "Do you have any cures for crazy dreams?" He questioned smoothly and then laughed a little, "mom keeps falling out of bed."
"...no," Snow answered slowly and looked past Henry in to the home. When she tried to step inside though, Henry stepped in front of her and she looked down at him with her brow furrowed.
"Sorry," Henry smiled a little and shrugged his shoulders up, "she'll be super cranky if she wakes up to you. And you two are already on bad terms."
"Fine. Will you get her then?"
"Uh yeah...sure," he nodded and allowed her in, "just stay there and I'll go get her," he pointed over his shoulder and backed up the stairs to the foyer before turning toward the den.
...
Panting heavily, the pair of them stared at the door trying to make sense of what they had just heard and if they had even heard it at all. Her thoughts were muddled with arousal and she couldn't get herself back down but she answered dumbly, "yes?"
"Hey, mom? Snow's here and she wants to talk to you. I don't mean to wake you but we heard you fall off the couch and I assumed that woke you like it usually does. You okay in there?"
"Yes," she replied in confusion and then through her lustful thoughts she was hit with what was going on. Henry was lying for them and Snow was at the front door. She looked up at David and he looked at her with the same expression as she did. Shit.
"You gonna come out?"
"Just a second, Henry. I...hit my head," she improvised and scowled at David when he bit back a laugh and pulled his bottom lip between his teeth.
"Okay."
"This is not funny, David," she whispered sharply and he nodded.
"It kind of is," he whispered back and leaned down and kissed her slow and firm until she let out a gentle and contented purr.
"Stop it, I already can't think straight," she breathed out slowly as his mouth moved to her neck, "Snow is out there."
"I am aware."
"Does she know you are here?"
"She was with me when I got your-Henry's texts. So there is a possibility she does. We were fighting," he whispered and kissed her mouth again.
She hummed against his mouth and when he finished his kiss she whispered against his lips, "what do you want me to do?" There was a moment of quiet thought and she waited patiently but hoped he would stay with her. And then he grabbed her head in both hands and gave her a long hard kiss that almost made her forget what situation they had found themselves in.
"Lie," he whispered and watched those soft lips curl in to a tentative smile, "and get rid of her," he told her and that tentative smile spread in to a wide grin that showed all her teeth. He couldn't help but smile in return.
"As you wish," she breathed out happily and he kissed her again. She was being chosen over Snow White. She was overjoyed and hugged her arms tight around his head and neck as she kissed him back with her grin untampered.
"Hello? You fall asleep in there?"
"I'm coming, I'm coming," she drawled out irritably as David let her put her feet back on the ground. Her legs were wobbly and she was wet and her thoughts were still running wild with what she was going to do to David and what he was going to do to her.
"No smiling, your majesty," he breathed and she hummed as he closed the clasp on her trousers for her, purposely dragging his finger slowly along the waist band before he moved to the button he had opened and needed to close.
"I'll be right back," she breathed back with a smirk rather than a grin.
"Good."
With that she turned and opened the door and quickly closed it behind her, her body effectively blocking Henry's view inside. He simply looked her up and down with an amused grin and turned on his heels and she followed the few steps in to the middle of the foyer but even those few strides were a lot for her jellied legs to manage, "you wanted to speak to me?"
"Uh yeah," she furrowed her brow and looked Regina up and down. Her hair was a tousled mess, her shoes were missing as was her blazer, her white button up shirt was untucked from her black trousers, and her nerves seemed to be as frayed as ever. She had never seen her in such a state, "have you seen David?"
"David?" She questioned and ran a hand through her hair as she looked off outside over Snow's shoulder and shook her head, "no. No I haven't seen David. Well, he came by..." She looked at the clock and her eyes widened at the time it read and her voice faltered a little with her surprise, "maybe an hour and a half ago," she cleared her throat and shook her head, "what makes you think he's here?"
"Well he left the house after a couple texts and just assumed he had come here. So I just thought I'd check...you alright?"
"Perfectly fine, dear," she answered quickly as the itch to throw herself back at David grew stronger and stronger, "just haven't been sleeping well with the king and queen screwing one another senseless every night," she improvised despite the fact that the couple were respectful enough to be quiet most nights and use silence spells on the others. She just enjoyed the looked of discomfort on Snow's face.
"I needed David's help locating something for me but it was quickly resolved and he went on his way," she told her and felt her brain start to function properly again. "I will let you know if I see him but in the meantime keep looking," she urged and then subtly flicked her fingers with magic to turn off David's phone before running those fingers through her hair to rid Snow of any suspicion, "oh and don't think too much on it if he doesn't answer his phone. He mentioned something about it being almost dead while he was here. I don't know why he finds it so incredibly challenging to charge a cell phone."
"Alright. Thanks. I guess," she furrowed her brow once again and looked Regina over once more and opened her mouth, "you sure you haven't-"
"Yes now do run along before I lose my patience," she insisted firmly and Snow gave her one last skeptical look before turning slowly on her heels and walking out the door and closing it behind her.
"I need water," she breathed out and rushed to the kitchen.
Henry laughed to himself and followed her with a skip in his step. When he rounded the corner she was drinking from a tall glass and when she put it down she picked up an apple and a water bottle and rummaged through the cupboards until she pulled out a granola bar only to throw all three objects at him one at a time. He caught them with a laugh and then she pointed in the direction of the stairs.
"In your room, door closed, headphones in until further notice."
"Yes ma'am," he laughed and ran off out of the kitchen and up the stairs.
Regina gripped the edge of the countertop with her fingers as she leaned forward and closed her eyes. What the hell was she doing. She had been trying to avoid this. But could it really be so bad if it had felt so good? So right? He had thrown away his wedding ring...and told her to get rid of Snow...perhaps this was going to be alright.
It didn't matter though. Her heart commandeered her body and before her brain could catch up she was flinging magic at the front door so it would lock, undoing the buttons holding her cuffs closed over her wrists, opening the door to the den, and kicking it shut behind her before she pounced on David and he met her in a fervent kiss and they quickly made work of tearing each other's clothes away.
