Chapter 27
Inuyasha is carrying Kagome down to the gym where he was working out before the whole fiasco of the mating bond effected his instincts. "What are we doing down here?" Kagome asks as Inuyasha gently puts her onto a bench. He kneels down to examine the legs. "Whenever I feel weak, I come here and try to get myself stronger than before. I thought that if I brought you here, we could get you walking again." He said to her as he rubs a few points on the legs.
Kagome watches him quietly to see if what he said was true. "Being half demon can have a few advantages?" He starts off as he gets to a cabinet to find something for her. "Like what can you do that I can't?" Kagome asks him curiously. Inuyasha comes back with a bottle of medicine. "Well, if I'm poisoned, I'd have to make sure we have antidotes to counter the effects." He explains so far as he gives her the bottle. Kagome reads the label. "Demonic Poison Antidote. Will this work for me? I'm a human after all." She looks at him with a look of concern.
Inuyasha takes the bottle back before she opens it. "No way I'm making you take it. And yes it does work on humans. You're just paralyzed. For what I showed you was what would've been the best idea to use if we knew it sooner. But we don't have anything to cure your paralyzed legs. I've been through that a few times. I wasn't aware that it took me a few days to recover from it since my dad made sure we had first aid on us." He points out to her. "As such, for what you said to us earlier, you need to use your spiritual powers to heal yourself. And the first thing we need to do is to make sure you can sit Indian style." Inuyasha said as he gets Kagome onto the matted floor as well as she is against the wall. Kagome does her best to sit up as she could. Inuyasha rubs a few patterns around a few spots on her legs. "Can you try to bend your knee or ankle?" He asks her softly. Kagome does all she could, but she couldn't get the knee or the ankle to bend in the direction.
"Do you think you could help me?" She blushes deeply. Inuyasha smiles nicely and helps her out. "Does it hurt anywhere?" He makes sure. Kagome shakes her head. "If I wasn't paralyzed, I'd say I would." She responds to him playfully. Inuyasha chuckles at that and helps her get into of in Indian style. Kagome blushes shyly as she lets him do the tasks. "And I know who can help you with your meditation." Inuyasha said as he goes out of the gym and towards the stairs.
"Is she ready?" A new voice asks him. "Yeah. This way." Inuyasha answers and leads the unknown visitor to join them. "It's good to see you again, Kagome." The visitor happens to be Miroku. He smiles nicely to her. It's good to see you too, Miroku. But where's Sango?" Kagome greets him back. "I'm right here, Kagome." Sango enters shortly after Miroku. Kagome wanted so desperately to get up and hug her best friend. "Ok Kagome, we're here to get you literally back onto your feet." Miroku jokes as he sits Indian style across from her. "The first we're going to do is focus on the area where it's unable to do its task…" Miroku begins the session.
A few hours have passed since Miroku began teaching Kagome how to meditate. Throughout the time, Inuyasha decides to get back into fighting shape so that he won't fail protecting her. Sango does the same thing. As such she does her running on the treadmill while Inuyasha does some heavy lifting.
Miroku opens his one eye to see that it's close to ten in the evening. "We've done enough for now, Kagome." He said to Kagome. Inuyasha puts the weights away onto the rack and gets down to her level. "Any progress?" He asks her gently. Kagome groans as she looks down to her legs. She closes her eyes to focus on one of her toes. One toe was able to flex slightly. Kagome smiles proudly. "I did it? I did it!" She shouts in happiness. Everyone in the room smile in relief and joy.
"This is just the beginning. We still need to keep on going until you're fully capable to walk again." Miroku advices her wisely. Kagome nods. "Yes. I understand." She agrees. Inuyasha picks her bridal style, "We should call it a day. We have school tomorrow." He said to them. Kagome frowns at that part. "What's wrong?" Sango asks her best friend in concern. "How am I supposed to get around in school? I don't want to be the center of attention while I'm in a wheelchair." Kagome explains to them. Inuyasha carries her to her guest bedroom instead of the one back at home. Miroku and Sango decide to leave them since they have to go home as well.
Kagome is surprised to see a dufflebag in the bedroom. She spots a note on the handle. Inuyasha places her onto the bed and hands over the dufflebag. Kagome opens up the folded now.
Kagome
Since you're going to be at Inuyasha's house for a few days, I've packed you some clothes and other essentials to help out. I'll come back so I can restock.
Mom
Kagome smiles thankfully. She opens up to see the amount of clothes that her mother packed for her. "Inuyasha, could you give me a moment to change?" She asks him in embarrassment. "Sure." Inuyasha said back and leaves her room so she can change in her pajamas. It took Kagome a few minutes than she thought to get dressed. She sees that her wheelchair is folded up next to her bed. She slides on her bed to get the wheelchair ready. The door opens to see Inuyasha entering with his own pair of pj pants and a white t-shirt. "Ok. Let's get you onto that thing." He prefers as he gets the wheelchair locked and secured for to ride in. Kagome doesn't like it one bit, but she has no choice. "Where do you want to go?" Inuyasha asks her as he is about to push the chair. "The bathroom please." Kagome said with a faint blush on her cheeks. Inuyasha chuckles. "Of course." He pushes the wheelchair to the guest bathroom which is in the guest bedroom. "Will you be able to do your business?" Inuyasha asks her shyly. Kagome giggles. "Even though I can't move my legs, I can still go. You just need to give me some privacy."
Inuyasha closes the door and let's Kagome go on her own. "It doesn't take her long to go. The toilet flushes. "Ok, I just need to brush my teeth." Kagome said to him. Inuyasha doesn't waste another second to get her out and take her to the sink. "Here. Your mom packed these in a plastic bag. Kagome can see the toothbrush and other dental products. She does that task rather quickly but effectively. "Ok, I'm ready to go to bed. I'm tired as it is." She said to him. Inuyasha pushes the chair back to her bed. "Wait." Kagome stops him.
"What is it?" Inuyasha is confused. "Is it ok that I sleep with you instead?" Kagome asks nervously. Inuyasha can sense how scared she is. "Yes. We're mates after all. We'll sleep together until your back onto your feet." Inuyasha smiles warmly and carries her to his bedroom. Inuyasha places her onto his bed. The fabric was satin and it smelled like him. Inuyasha can see how she enjoys the scent. "Thank you Inuyasha." Kagome said to him. Inuyasha grabs the red comforter and puts it over the both of them. "No problem." He responds to her. Little did he know that Kagome wraps her arms around his waist. Inuyasha blinks for a moment but relaxes in her touch. He returns the gesture and kisses her on the head. "Good night, Inuyasha." Kagome said before falling asleep. "Good night, Kagome." Inuyasha follows her to go to sleep.
