Karin couldn't move. Not only was she badly injured, but she was in shock at having her old teammates coming to her rescue.
"There's too many and we need to get you to a medic," Suigetsu stated. "Jugo!"
Jugo nodded and jumped away from his battle to join the others. He carefully picked up Karin and the twins and then they were off. Karin leaned into Jugo, crying.
"Thank you so much," she cried.
As Jugo and Suigetsu looked at her, they finally took note of the bundles in her arms.
"Is that..." Suigetsu couldn't finish.
"Please, we need to get to Konoha," Karin begged. "We need to get the twins back to their home, to Sasuke-kun!"
"Where's Sakura-chan?" Suigetsu asked.
Karin looked away.
"She's still with Kuromaru..."
"What happened?" Jugo asked.
"I'll explain when we get there. Please, just help me get to Sasuke."
"Uh, I don't think that's a good idea," Suigetsu drawled. "With the part you played in Sakura's kidnapping, Sasuke will kill you on sight."
"You should see Naruto first. Despite him being just as mad as Sasuke, he's not prone to violent outbursts."
"Oh, god, you're right. Please, help me get to Naruto."
Naruto stood by the window, the spot he's taken to as he watches over the village in anticipation. Ino stood by him, with her hands together in a seal, allowing herself to link up with those in the Konoha 11 that bore a Yamanaka seal she had created to target specific personnel.
"Ino, how is the search going?" Naruto asked.
For the hundredth time.
"Baka," she scolded, her eyes remaining closed. "They are all just arriving to their designated countries after travelling non-stop. They haven't even begun yet."
"Damn it, I should be out there!" He hissed.
Ino finally released her seal, dropping the connection for a moment to open her eyes and fix Naruto with a look.
"Naruto, do you honestly think I wanna be here too? Stuck in your office while my best friend is god-knows-where with a psychopathic dickhead doing god-knows-what to her?" Ino snapped. "I haven't slept in weeks, Naruto. Weeks, and I know I'm not going to sleep until Sakura is back here. With me. With us."
She made a quick move to wipe the tears that began to roll down her cheeks.
"B-But I know, I can help her by co-ordinating the search movement. That is my duty."
She turned away and formed the telepathic connection again.
"And watching the village is yours."
"Kami, they're persistent!" Suigetsu growled as he slashed through another.
Karin sensed them all around. They were surrounded again.
"We're blocked in," Karin informed the two men.
"We'll create a distract-" Jugo was cut off with a cry as a kunai lodged itself into his leg.
"Jugo!" Karin cried out as she moved to him, only for him to knocked her over, shielding her with his body as more kunai rained down on them.
"Bastards!" Suigetsu bellowed as he took out a bunch of them in the trees.
Karin looked up from her crouched spot by Jugo to Suigetsu who stood before them, facing their enemies in a defensive manner.
"Suigetsu-"
"I'll protect you, Karin," Suigetsu barked, glaring ahead.
"There's too many," she murmured. "This is all my fault."
"And we deserve an explanation," Suigetsu agreed. "But you can explain it all once we get to Konoha."
All was still before Kuromaru's men lunged for them.
"SUIGETSU!"
Inner panted as she went down on one knee. Despite the many shadows she kept at bay, two more would replace them.
The madness was creeping up on her, threatening to tear apart their mind. With a majority of Sakura's memories locked away, the only thing left to do is make sure nothing got through, but as Inner stared at the relentless, ruthless madness gaining ground, she knew she'd be torn to pieces if she were to be caught. Madness was too strong, especially for a mere inner persona.
Wiping away the sweat, Inner knew what needed to be done.
The lights went dark for Sakura as her consciousness was pulled from her body.
'"I-Inner?" She questioned.
She stood before Inner who was kneeling, out of breath.
"Outer, there isn't much time left. Soon, the madness will take over and destroy your mind. You're too weak to be able to handle it right now."
"I-I don't understand," Outer spoke.
Inner looked up and nodded her head forward. Sakura hesitated a moment before she turned, only to feel terror freeze her body when she spotted the weaving white shadows that looked dauntingly like tentacles.
"W-What is-"
"That is the madness Kuromaru has brought on you, Outer," Inner informed her. "I've done my best to keep it at bay but I've reached my limit."
Outer stood up, standing between Inner and the madness.
"Then let me take over for a little while."
Despite the situation, Inner smiled and shook her head.
"Baka."
In one swift move, the locked room's door swung open. The movement caught Outer Sakura's attention, distracting her which allowed Inner to grab her and shove her into the room.
"Inner, what the hell-"
Inner just smiled at her, blocking the doorway.
"You've come a long way from the shy, little girl we used to be, Sakura."
"Inner, please-"
"This is the only way your memories- no, our memories- stand a chance at remaining intact. The idea of forgetting everyone we love kills me more than knowing what this will do to me."
Sakura couldn't even argue as the situation became clear and her words turned to muffled sobs. The shadows of madness crept closer to Inner as her back remained to them.
"Stay strong, Outer. Don't stop fighting."
As she finished her sentence, a white spike impaled Inner's chest, the persona's eyes going wide.
"INNER!"
Inner just backed away. As more spikes pierced her body, she managed to slam the door shut, cutting off Outer Sakura's screams.
Inner turned and held her kama's firmly in her hands.
"You will not touch us!" Inner yelled as the impaled spikes pulled at her body in all different directions.
She screamed in pain as the mind went up in a flash of bright light.
Karin stared in surprise as bugs ambushed their enemies.
'W-What's going on?' She wondered.
"Getsuga!"
What shinobi the bugs didn't outright kill were caught by a whirling tornado. Suigetsu dropped to a knee, clutching at his shoulder where a sword stabbed through him. The violent tornado came to a halt, revealing two men with red stripes. Identical. That was the first thing she noticed. The second thing she noticed, was they did not look happy to see her. She turned, having sensed someone else. Coming from the trees was a man with a strange meta contraption across his eyes.
"Uzumaki Karin, don't move."
One of the twin men disappeared in a poof, only to be replaced with an elderly dog. Despite his age, he was still able to growl at her.
"You..." she began. "You're part of the Rookies, right? Please, you need to help me get to Naruto!"
"We don't have to do anything." Shino stated.
"Where's Sakura-chan?" Kiba picked up, crossing his arms.
"She's still with Kuromaru but please! We need to get to Naruto-"
"And why the hell would we trust you?" Kiba snapped. "You think-"
"Kiba," Shino called. "Look at what she's holding."
Kiba paused long enough to take note of the bundles in her arms. Both men approached slowly and inspected the babies.
"Kami," he breathed.
Karin looked at him tearily.
"Please help me get them to safety."
"I'll contact Ino," Shino spoke as he connected with the Yamanaka.
Kiba said nothing since Karin was placing the twins into his arms so that Suigetsu and Jugo could bite her. He stared at the babies in his arms. There was no mistaking whose children they were. Akamaru dawdled over, sniffing the babies before giving both a gentle, tender lick.
Soon, Karin was back and shuffling the twins in her arms. Once back with her, she visibly relaxed.
"Everyone has been informed," Shino spoke, finally dropping the connection. "They're all headed back to Konoha where we are to take you."
Karin sighed in relief until she noticed the look on Shino's face.
"We need to hurry, though. Sasuke is on a rampage."
Karin felt her stomach drop.
"And he's coming for you."
My readers I AM SO SORRY FOR THE LONG WAIT
My laptop decided to shit itself again and crash like a bitch so I sent it off AGAIN
So I stole my sisters laptop and completed this chapter for you in a day.
Yes, it's short but I couldn't keep writing.
I do apologise if there are any inconsistencies because there may be some.
Anyone else feel like Kiba's appearance just took a nosedive after the war? I feel like he's starting to look like Asuma. Da fuq?
I think he got with Tamaki, who has cats.
LOL?
Have you guys seen that episode? When team 7 infiltrates a cat place and they have to wear cat ears? Naruto thinks its hilarious, Sakura thinks it adorable and I swear Sasuke is contemplating suicide as he stares at them in his hands xD
