"This sucks," Suigetsu huffed.

Karin ignored her friend as she focused her attention on moving.

They needed to go faster.

Kami help her if they move too slow.

"We need to pick up the pace," Shino warned.

"Oi! Give her a break, man," the sword wielder grunted. "She's been running ever since she escaped Kuromaru and she's carrying kids."

"Lay off, dude," Kiba barked. "We're not pushing you just because we can. You were Sasuke's teammates for a while after he abandoned Konoha. Do you really want him to reach Karin before she can make it to Naruto?"

No comment there.

"Exactly."

Shino looked up. "The others are trying to calm Sasuke down before he reaches Konoha but at the moment, he's quite determined to see you did. So I suggest we pick up the pace."

"Fuck," Suigetsu cursed.

"Don't worry. We just crossed into Fire's border. We have about a two day journey but if we pick it up, we can make it one," Kiba spoke.

Despite her screaming muscles, Karin forced herself to move faster.

"Let's hurry."

The next day, Sarada sat in Kakashi's small flat, playing the man himself in a game of Shoji. Her hand raised to her face before she realised and put it back down. Her scar was still quite raw and had that annoying itch.

"Are your eyes bugging you?" Kakashi asked.

Her Sharingan orbs looked up at him before shaking her head.

"No, Kaka-ojii. My scar is just itchy."

Kakashi sat back. "Ah, I remember when I got my scar. Afterwards, when it was healed, the itch stayed for some time. Even when it's all healed, its a subconscious thing."

Sarada tenderly touched her scar.

"What about your Sharingan?"

"It takes some effort but..."

Her features tensed in concentration and the red faded to black.

"I can turn them off. But when I experience a spike in emotion or I'm not paying attention, they change back."

"Does the ruby bother you?"

Sarada shook her head. "Kaa-san would say they gave my facial features some colour."

Kakashi chuckled. "She would say that, wouldn't she?"

"Kaka-ojii, can I ask you a question? Why aren't you out there looking for kaa-san?"

Kakashi reached over and place a hand on her head.

"Trust me, Sara-chan, if I could be, I would," he sighed. "But I'm not the shinobi I once was."

Then he tipped her head back so he could look her in the eyes.

"Besides, I see a little girl who needs someone to watch over her, even if she'd die before ever admitting it."

Sarada looked up at him, onyx eyes wet with tears.

"D-Do you think they'll find her, Kaka-ojii?" She asked.

His eyes turned cold as he looked up.

"They will. Even if they didn't, I will."

She sniffled and threw herself at him, knocking over the shoji board.

"I'm so scared!"

Kakashi held the child close as her pet her hair soothingly.

"It'll be okay, Sara-chan. Your kaa-san's a fighter."

"Meinu!" They heard banging at the door. "Meinu!"

Both Kakashi and Sarada turned to look at the door.

"Should we open it?" Sarada asked.

Bolt kicked open the door.

"No need," Kakashi sighed.

"Meinu!"

"What is it, Haisha?" Sarada asked.

"I was eavesdropping on my tou-san and I heard that Shino and Kiba are escorting Karin to Konoha."

Sarada shot up in her seat. "What? What about my kaa-san!?"

Bolt shook his head. "All I could make out was that Karin was heading here with Suigetsu and Jugo with Kuromaru's men chasing her and then Shino and Kiba showed up and saved them yesterday. Then they were racing here. Come on, we've got to get back."

Sarada's eyes bled red as the Sharingan whirled to life due to the spike in anger. The woman who aided in her mother's capture.

She would pay.

"We'd better get moving then, shouldn't we?"

Bolt finally noticed Kakashi and stammered.

"Oh...uh..."

Sarada ran passed Bolt but not before smacking his head affectionately.

"Baka," she called.

Kakashi urged Bolt along as they followed after the Uchiha to the Hokage tower.

Long, black lashes fluttered before revealing sea-form orbs.

"It's about time you woke up, Sakura-chan."

Sakura's eyes darted to the corner of the room where the voice came from as Kuromaru stepped forward.

"I was starting to get worried," he spoke.

The pinkette didn't say a word, only stared at him. Kuromaru frowned before he noticed her eyes. He moved to where she lay on the ground swiftly and grabbed her chin. She struggled but she was so weak, her efforts made no difference. Staring into her eyes, he saw nothing.

No recognition.

Nothing.

"What's your name?" He asked.

"Haruno Sakura."

"Where are you from?"

"Konoha."

"What rank are you?"

"Jo...nin?" She murmured, eyes swimming with confusion.

Kuromaru couldn't stop the smile that crept to his lips.

"Who am I?"

The pinkette's eyes dropped.

"I...I don't know..."

"This is perfect!" He cackled as he stood.

He began to pace the cell as ideas ran rampant in his head.

"The things that I could do with this," he began and continued to talk to himself as he spoke of his plans

After a little while, he was cut off.

"No."

Kuromaru stopped and looked at Sakura whose head was still bowed, eyes on the floor.

"What did you say?" He asked as he moved closer.

"I said 'no'," she started. "I may not know who you are but..."

Her head raised and steely green eyes glared hard at him as if an emerald flame of fury burned within her beautiful green orbs.

"...but I know that I despise you."

"There it is!" Karin panted.

Before them, they could see the West gate into Konoha. In her arms, the babies began to whimper. The ninja at the gate stopped them but Suigetsu grabbed Karin and bolted passed them.

"No time, bye!"

"Hey, wait-"

"Don't worry, we got this!" Kiba called behind him as he, Jugo and Shino followed.

Karin looked to Suigetsu.

"Thank you, Suigetsu."

He winked at her. "Anytime."

She couldn't see them, but she could feel the many shinobi in the village tuned into her chakra signature. Watching.

Waiting.

"The tower's this way," Kiba called to Karin.

"Did you feel that?" Tenten asked Lee who stayed back for her sake.

"Sasuke-san just passed us," he nodded.

"Oi!"

The two ninja turned to see Shikamaru and Choji coming in from the right.

"We need to catch up to him," Shikamaru called.

"Karin deserves everything Sasuke has for her," Tenten argued.

"Sasuke will kill her before we get any information out of her. She's the only lead to Sakura that we have."

Tenten huffed.

"I hate it when you bring logic to an argument, Shikamaru!"

There was only one thing Sasuke wanted almost as much as Sakura returned safely.

Karin and Kuromaru skinned alive.

When he had heard that Shino and Kiba had found Suigetsu and Jugo with Karin, he felt an array of emotions.

Did bloodthirst count?

In his head, he thought of many ways to kill Karin. She would not receive a swift death.

And for whatever reason, he felt like Shino kept something from them. There was more to the story and he knew he'd find out.

He picked up her chakra and-

Oh, look.

Konoha's gates.

Karin almost stumbled when she felt the pure blood lust chilling the village. It was like she dived head first into ice cold water.

It was suffocating her.

"Fuck, he's here!"

Suigetsu had to carry her again as they reached the tower. Kiba barged into Naruto's office. Instead of the Uzumaki being the first thing they noticed, it was the pissed off Uchiha heiress who glared at Karin with such hate, she could taste it.

"You-" Her eyes widened when she noticed the bundles in her arms.

"Naruto, please!" Karin begged.

Both Ino and Naruto were just as stunned as Sarada as they noticed the twins.

The sudden chilling chakra spike brought them out of it as Naruto moved to the window.

"He's coming!" She cried.

He didn't move, just looked out the window when it shattered as Sasuke broke through like a storm itself, electricity crackling around him irately.

Her eyes met his and she felt her stomach drop. She wanted to vomit right there or curl up and hide.

She had no delusions.

He was going to kill her and she didn't doubt that he'd enjoy it.
